Though I was confused whether this is the whole thing or not, is there some kind of theory classes or are you able to show up, deliver and get your permit?
Here in Norway its very different when taking the motorcycle license. Here you can be 16 to ride a 125cc 15 kw bike. You have to complete multiple traffic courses and a theory test. Then you can take the driving course in the end. The difference is that you either drive with the teacher sitting on the back of the bike or him riding behind you. The test seems to vary widely state by state and country by country. I took my original motorcycle test in Alaska in 1976. The instructor sat at a desk inside a tiny building and told me to get on my bike and ride around the little building once. I did. I walked inside and he said I passed! I don't think he even looked up from the desk. In Minnesota (1984) it was completely different. Very difficult test. The lines on the figure 8 etc. were electronic and any touch would register as a failure. They had an electronic panic stop track where you had to reach 35 mph (electronic radar display in front of you) with a green light that would stay green until BANG it went RED. You had to absolutely dynamite your front brake (without lock up) to pass it. Lots of busted mirrors and turn signals had to be swept off the track because many flunked it badly. Many in line with me were on their 3rd or 4th attempt at passing the test. The ONLY way to pass was to crush your brakes and not dump the bike. The distance allowed for braking seemed like a postage stamp at that speed.
+Dave Lee I don't know how it is now. I took that test in Eagan. I wouldn't worry about it, but do practice lots of slow speed weaving and stops in a parking lot before you test. Thanks for sharing this vid. Interesting to see how this is done in other countries. I just passed mine in The Netherlands yesterday. The types of exercises are similar though they're harder, such as tighter cones and curves, higher and lower speeds, etc. By the time most people pass the test they're quite comfortable on a bike and able to handle the following driving classes and the road exam pretty easily. The real learning starts after you get the license of course :)

It's getting a bit old with all the people spamming this in the comments. So please, spare us all the "ZOMG UR TEST IS 2 EASY" crap and leave a comment that's at least slightly less useless. Thanks!"
Passed my test 2 weeks ago first try. 6 points deducted because I put my foot down twice. It feels good to have my motorcycle license. Great video bro!!!
i am from uzbekistan and our test is much harder we have to tie wheels to our legs and run round.. getting up to speed is exhausting and emergency stop everyone breaks nose.... but nice video thankyou
I was so scared of the U-turn part during my test. Only part I actually messed up on was the swerve because when I did it, I felt something under my back tire and I thought I popped the tire. Ending riding over the line just a little.
Hopefully it's like this oen for me too because I want to know exactly how to do it ahead of time, I'll be practicing in a couple weeks so I'm very excited
This was a great vid. You can see how he needed to get a bit closer to the right red line for that left U-turn. Her tone was a bit dead but she was very clear in her instructions and her diagrams and showing him where he was at was good as well. I don’t want to call him out on his u-turn either, but we can see where the mistake was and we can learn from it. Great job with uploading it because it does help.
I have some editing software, I've been working on learning how to use it. When I posted this I knew nothing about editing. You can still hear her if you turn your volume up a bit.
I honestly would love if they had your test on the actual roads with a follow up motorcycle giving you a location to go to watching from behind. All these colored lines can be damn confusing especially when your instructor doesn't make it clear. I also love how she almost yells at you to turn off your motorcycle after the first test as if you knew to turn it off. Thanks for the video mate!
Congrats man! I know this is from a couple years ago, but I felt like I should comment as most of these comments are missing the point of the video sadly.
I don’t know how I came across this video 9 years later. But this is the best training video I’ve seen yet, I’m saving up for a bike atm and this will truly help.
Thanks, it's certainly been here a long time but I'm glad you found it helpful. I originally recorded this because I couldn't find any similar videos when I was preparing for my test.
I've just read through some comments, and there is alot of people saying it's harder where they are from I have yet to find one that say "Congratulations on passing your test!" so... Congratulations on passing your test! :)
Wow, this test seems easy compared to the one we have in Sweden! We have to go waay slower and the U-turn radius is 4m not 6m as you did. If we put our foot down once we maybe get another chance to to the entire course again.
How nice would it be if the instructor was on a bike and could demonstrate the task instead of all this blah blah blah. when I took my test like this in Ohio in 93 it was harder to get the appointment Than it was to complete the test. I swear they acted like it was their Job to keep you from getting a bike license.
Damn im so nervous for my driving test this tuesday! But mine is more difficult, we have to do: 1. Get a task about a part on the motorcycle u have to check details to know if its good enough for driving and explain the consequenses etc. 2. Do a daily check of the bike, checking lights, signals, breaks etc as fast as u can. 3. Do driving test on a track which includes, Countersteering in 80 km/h, 80 km/h emergency breaking, cone driving, turn techniques and breaking while in a fast turn. 3. Driving test on the road, which is hard as fuck cause they fail you for details like possition, being too polite, driving too slow for long distances etc.
ovo xo Passed :) I failed once on the cones, and one time on counter steering. But the reason for that was because my driving instructor kept giving me tips, and when i started trying to do what he told me i failed them. But as we get two chances on each test, i passed :)
Gawd. You go to the DMV and they practically give you a drivers license. But if you want to ride a motorcycle, they put you through this shit. It's an easy course, especially with a smaller bike. But it's a pain in the ass.
***** Oh god dude, my first 'real' street bike was a Honda Rebel. It was easier to ride than a 24 speed Jamis I had. If I had to take the test again, I'd borrow a Honda Rebel. It's a very relaxed bike, nimble and light. It's the equivalent of taking a Nissan Stanza to a drivers course.
it does make you consider the ability of someone delivering a test when they apppear to be so stuck on having to read the script without being able to deliver it confidently and informatively. Also all of those lines and boxes on the site make it quite confusing for those taking the test. Surely a more professional location could be arranged. Whilst the test is not difficult, it would be nice if they gave the applicants the best chance of succeeding by improving their testing processes.
If the person can't figure out the track how will they figure out the road sighs and Lines on the road. In short terms . if you can't read the track you should ride on the rode
Here in Tasmania we sit in a class for about 3 hrs and get told about rider safety. Then ride around the obstacle course. If we pass that then we get our L plate and are on our own on the roads until we sit four our P plate which is basically riding a tighter course, which in my opinion is quite daft really. If you survive 6 months on the road on L plates and slowing down the traffic as you aren't allowed to go over 100 kph or ride a bike over 240cc, then you should be given the P plate automatically.
a friend of mine did that, and weaved through cones while doing a wheelie (he is a motocross rider). All thry said is that he clearly knew how to handle the bike but still needs to do it properly, got to do it again on the spot
omg, you did awesomely. I'm petrified of doing all this right now but hoping the course will help me. Thanks for posting this, very informative and it was great to see it from your perspective.

i'm just getting ready to take a test... so this was extremely beneficial for me to watch, even if the test here isn't the same, i at least have an idea of what too expect... glad i came across this, you definitely earned my like and sub
So don't hate please. Just want to know when taking the motorcycle class to get your license do you ride like mopeds or small motorcycles? All the classes I've seen have been on mopeds.
In finland atleast we ride the class we are getting immediately. So moped riders ride mopeds, light bikes ride light bikes and so on. I started off with a 35kw (48hp) immediately.
Here in Michigan (US) we don't have classes, and I believe that is the case in all other US states as well. Passing the test on a 250 like I did means you can legally ride a Hayabusa, not that I would recommend it!
You can find an MSF course usually in most states in the US. There are also classes in some Community Colleges and also, look for clubs in the area you live. Where I live there are clubs who have members that will volunteer to help you learn to ride and some of them are minimal cost and some free. They teach you the same as any MSF courses and prepare you for your DMV tests.
To anyone watching in 2018 or later, there is nothing to be nervous about. Taking the class with a friend makes it easier and more enjoyable. My buddy passed with absolutely zero motorcycle/manual transmission experience.
This looks hard in Canada all you have to do is ride around the road for half an hour and your done, they put an earpiece in your ear and you just turn when they tell you to so it's super easy haha
+FightClubProjectM Your wrong. In most of bikes the killswitch is for an accident or specific situation normaly you should turn off engine with key cause killswitch "killing" engine immediatley and key is turning off engine slower and engine can run slower for about second
+keeway4869 I was taught in the beginner rider course to turn the bike off by using the cutoff switch, then using the key. I think it will do essentially the same thing, but the cutoff switch lets you turn the engine off without taking your hands off the bar, then lets you turn it on again without taking your hands off the bar. I guess it is personal preference and the situation that you are in. If you just want to shut the engine off to talk to someone briefly then turn it back on, I would use the cutoff. If you use the cutoff all the time, you might start to forget to take the keys with you...
Thanks for this video, got the cheat sheet to do my skills test and was confused on how it scaled out, this video definitely gave me a base to practice on
Hey did you ever ride before that? Cause I want to start riding asap Wether it's this year or the start of spring of 2017 when I'll have the full amount for a bike and was wondering if I should go do the course first before I get the bike and start riding or if I should ride a little before the test and all that.
+Ricardo Diaz sounds better to pass the test but I wouldn't want to drop or crash a bike that I would just get. also if I do the msf course test don't they start you off slow and teach you things?
CBolton313 They didn't teach me slow, for me since I'm under 21 (California law) I need to take a certified course so I took one named AMO, With me I needed 6 hours of class time and 10 hours of riding time so after like 1 session and a half I started to ride the bike and after I successfully completed the class they gave me a waiver so I don't have to take the drivers part of the DMV test
MrChofee Is that make any sense? There is nothing like "i didn't understand". The person comes, tells you all what you should do and you begin, not like a little kid point by point : )
At the test you have to bring your own in MO, at the riders safety course they provide the bikes . At Harley-Davidson its called riders Edge and they provide the new Street 500cc bikes.
Here in Japan, it's way tougher than this. First, there are two classes of licenses - up to 400cc, and over 400cc. When you come over from the USA with a motorcycle endorsement on your license, they'll only give you the 400cc version in Japan. To get the 400 cc version, you must take a 15 hour riding class at a certified driving school, that'll set you back about US $1200. When you finish, you then must then take the test on a course which you are required to memorize, which includes stopping on a hill just before the peak, going over railroad tracks (standing), weaving between cones, making an L shaped turn or two in a one meter lane with concrete barriers on each side, speed braking, and the hardest part - "ipponbashi", or "one line bridge". This is a platform which is about 6-8 inches wide, a few inches off the ground, but about 20 feet long. From a stop about 4 or 5 feet before you get to it, you ride on this platform until the end. You are supposed to do it in over 10 seconds, and to do that you must bring your bike to a crawl on the platform. If you do it in 8 seconds, you can still pass but if you fall off, you automatically fail the test and must come back on another day. The speed breaking part - they have a radar detector, you must bring the bike up to 40 kph as you enter cones then come to a very quick stop before you hit a line. It's a bit tough with a big bike but I passed it. To get the over 400cc license (think Harley), you need an additional 12 hours and $1200. All in all, it was worth it - makes you a better rider.
"How many points did I get?"

The real learning starts after you get the license of course :)
For the Non Americans who (only the ones talking shyt) forgot how to use a description box
"UPDATE: I hate to be rude but... nobody cares if your country has more difficult tests than this. It's getting a bit old with all the people spamming this in the comments. I've only had one minor accident in the three years I've been riding, and it wasn't anything that a more difficult test would have prevented. So please, spare us all the "ZOMG UR TEST IS 2 EASY" crap and leave a comment that's at least slightly less useless. Thanks!"
***** I don't take offense to it, it's just annoying that everyone seems to think it's some kind of pissing contest of who has the harder test.
It should be harder though. Less rookies on the road (bikes and cars)

yet you americans are the first commenting on issues like foreign gun culture. fuck off
"Come on over and ill write out your certificate." Sounds so good. Congrats bro
Passed my test 2 weeks ago first try. 6 points deducted because I put my foot down twice. It feels good to have my motorcycle license. Great video bro!!!
Feel great !
i am from uzbekistan and our test is much harder we have to tie wheels to our legs and run round.. getting up to speed is exhausting and emergency stop everyone breaks nose.... but nice video thankyou
Haha, sounds like flight training in the North Korean Air Force!
That instructor was probably one of the best grading the exam that I’ve watched. Clear and concise. Showing what needed to be done to pass the exam
She did a good job explaining and showing you what was required. That clearness can make a lot of difference.
her voice is gona make me fall to sleep
Marhfac displine bro
That's part of the test.
Bro
I was so scared of the U-turn part during my test. Only part I actually messed up on was the swerve because when I did it, I felt something under my back tire and I thought I popped the tire. Ending riding over the line just a little.
This is exactly how my test went. Same instructions and everything. I’m licensed in GA.
I feel like getting a license is ga is way to easy.
@@TJGotYou. too
Hopefully it's like this oen for me too because I want to know exactly how to do it ahead of time, I'll be practicing in a couple weeks so I'm very excited
The instructor seems very polite & you seem cool. I am watching this video to prepare myself in the future. I'll be subscribing
I have some editing software, I've been working on learning how to use it. When I posted this I knew nothing about editing. You can still hear her if you turn your volume up a bit.
i passed the test with a beer in my hand
Whiskey tit I stole s sip when you wernt looking
Nothing to feel good about it is the easiest exam ive seen in my life
Did you pretty much do the whole test in first gear?
Looks like it
ticonderoga8000 yes max speed he got up to was like 30 if even that
Harder to ride slow than fast.
Bradley Thomsen you dont die when you ride slow..
@@johneriksson45 that’s just wrong. I sliced my leg open bleeding all over the place riding slow. You can definitely die going slow
Just passed my test on my ninja 250 today, giving you a lot of credit cause you helped me prepare a bunch! Thanks Bro!!!
Hell im nervous and im not even taking the test for at least another year or two due to financial restrictions
lmao xD same here
KarRuptAssassin yeah man I want my license sooooo bad but I'm not going to be able to get it for a least a few years.
Soooo did you ever get a license?
Congrats man! I know this is from a couple years ago, but I felt like I should comment as most of these comments are missing the point of the video sadly.
Is this a riding test or a memory test lol
I think it’s both
I don’t know how I came across this video 9 years later. But this is the best training video I’ve seen yet, I’m saving up for a bike atm and this will truly help.
Same but my dad wants me to get a car first lol, I'm definitely looking to start off with a r1 though
Thanks, it's certainly been here a long time but I'm glad you found it helpful. I originally recorded this because I couldn't find any similar videos when I was preparing for my test.
I've just read through some comments, and there is alot of people saying it's harder where they are from
I have yet to find one that say
"Congratulations on passing your test!"
so... Congratulations on passing your test! :)
Wow, this test seems easy compared to the one we have in Sweden! We have to go waay slower and the U-turn radius is 4m not 6m as you did. If we put our foot down once we maybe get another chance to to the entire course again.
How nice would it be if the instructor was on a bike and could demonstrate the task instead of all this blah blah blah. when I took my test like this in Ohio in 93 it was harder to get the appointment
Than it was to complete the test. I swear they acted like it was their
Job to keep you from getting a bike license.
kirbazoid I'm from ohio an I finally go today after 2 years of waiting
How's ur life now so many years later ?
Same shit today. I have 3 DMVs within 30 minutes. Still I must travel 1.5 hours to get a license. First world country my ass.
@@giumorbia lmaoo boy stfu, you mad because yo daddy told you no to riding
kirbazoid yeah I would love a demonstration
I hope she talks louder in my test
It don't look like you will be taking it no time soon
This helped a ton!, what was more helpful was that this is the state i am currently taking the test in thank you!
Damn im so nervous for my driving test this tuesday!
But mine is more difficult, we have to do:
How'd it go?
ovo xo
Passed :) I failed once on the cones, and one time on counter steering. But the reason for that was because my driving instructor kept giving me tips, and when i started trying to do what he told me i failed them. But as we get two chances on each test, i passed :)
are you norwegian?
Well shit. I only have the driving test on the road and then I do the 8 shape without putting my feet down and I'm passed..
Gawd. You go to the DMV and they practically give you a drivers license. But if you want to ride a motorcycle, they put you through this shit. It's an easy course, especially with a smaller bike. But it's a pain in the ass.
think a Honda Rebel is easy to do this on?
***** Oh god dude, my first 'real' street bike was a Honda Rebel. It was easier to ride than a 24 speed Jamis I had. If I had to take the test again, I'd borrow a Honda Rebel. It's a very relaxed bike, nimble and light. It's the equivalent of taking a Nissan Stanza to a drivers course.
GuMpAkC great to know. Appreciate it!
+Edmund Leong gayyyy lol
***** Fantastic bikes!
This one seems so much less stressful than the group ones
it does make you consider the ability of someone delivering a test when they apppear to be so stuck on having to read the script without being able to deliver it confidently and informatively.
I'll be going for mine at the end of the year, you made this look practiced as heck, props to you mate
God, this brings back so much stress and nervousness of when I took my motorcycle test 😬😂
You should have done a stopie on the 3rd lesson😂😂😂
a friend of mine did that, and weaved through cones while doing a wheelie (he is a motocross rider). All thry said is that he clearly knew how to handle the bike but still needs to do it properly, got to do it again on the spot
By watching you're video I'm not nervous about the test seems really easy.
omg, you did awesomely. I'm petrified of doing all this right now but hoping the course will help me. Thanks for posting this, very informative and it was great to see it from your perspective.
The lady is so nice.. takes her time to explain thoroughly, I've seen other videos where they don't really explain shit. Nice lady.
Fuck it I'm happy with the car license
Taking this test on Saturday with a Honda Grom 125cc.
Did you pass it dude?
Yeah, had no point deductions. It was really easy.
Nice mate
***** Awesome, congrats!! :)
I just got a Grom....haven't taken the test yet...still practicing
"i cant tell you that" i hate that sort of mental flaw people have when they wrongly feel their authority is being challenged
Just got the motorcycle manual from the DMV here in Georgia and I'm relieved while watching this video because its the exact same course.
You have good taste in motorcycles, ninja 250 ftw! This video was really helpful especially because I plan on taking this test in the near future. Great vid man, you just got a new subscriber. TheGodDamnPope
Looks fun and easy! Too easy, actually. At least riding in that part of US doesn't seem to difficult. City riding is a bit of a hassle though
I watched the video on 2x speed without realizing made this test way worse looking.
i'm just getting ready to take a test... so this was extremely beneficial for me to watch, even if the test here isn't the same, i at least have an idea of what too expect... glad i came across this, you definitely earned my like and sub
Oh lord this brings back memories. I took my course a year ago and I'm astonished at how skilled of a rider I am now.
It's been 2 years since i had to take this test. Thanks for the refresher.
How's the road been treating you so far?
5:51 “uhh” flashbacks to when I did this exact test. I felt that bro.
I was reading up on my state. Class 1 are 5hp and lower class 2 are things 5hp and higher. Class 3 are cars.
To anyone watching in 2018 or later, there is nothing to be nervous about. Taking the class with a friend makes it easier and more enjoyable. My buddy passed with absolutely zero motorcycle/manual transmission experience.
Is it just me, or was the first exercise' left turn not tight enough? He went outside the yellow line.
This looks hard in Canada all you have to do is ride around the road for half an hour and your done, they put an earpiece in your ear and you just turn when they tell you to so it's super easy haha
In bc it’s a written then a skills kinda like this one then a road test huge pain in the ass
well this put me at ease a little bit ty i found this vid very helpful
Could you possibly tell me what State this exam was giving/completed in?
Also congrats on the completion!
I think the test is seeing you ride from task to task
for a person whos never own or ride a bike i would love to cross this off my bucket list. i cant wait.
I'm such a bad listener I might actually fail lmao, I'm so scared this calmed my nerves a little >_
the bike test in america is much easier than the one in England/ the UK
Use your cutoff switch to turn your engine off.
AlM9SlDEWlNDER I'd rather not, thanks.
+TheGodDamnPope You're sposed to turn the bike off with the killswitch I thought..
If you use the cutoff all the time, you might start to forget to take the keys with you...
keeway4869 Cheers i'll just look into it more before I start riding
Thanks for this video, got the cheat sheet to do my skills test and was confused on how it scaled out, this video definitely gave me a base to practice on
I just got my license, after riding dirt bikes for awhile...the test still made me nervous. The S or U turn within the box was the hardest one...
Hey did you ever ride before that? Cause I want to start riding asap Wether it's this year or the start of spring of 2017 when I'll have the full amount for a bike and was wondering if I should go do the course first before I get the bike and start riding or if I should ride a little before the test and all that.
ride before bro trust me
+Ricardo Diaz sounds better to pass the test but I wouldn't want to drop or crash a bike that I would just get. also if I do the msf course test don't they start you off slow and teach you things?
You do not need riding experience for the MSF. They do infact teach people with zero MC riding experience.
Jayyy Ceee do they still do that?
you would have failed the test in CA for putting your foot down.
same in florida
***** same in florida but at the end of the course the instructors gave us a riding test along with the he written.
All European countries are like this. I mean in Bulgaria is the same... touch the ground - GG boy, come again!
Alish Hamdi
I think that's because if you fail you can't say you didn't understand the instructions. Perfectly fine for me...
MrChofee Is that make any sense? There is nothing like "i didn't understand". The person comes, tells you all what you should do and you begin, not like a little kid point by point : )
Do you have to use your on bike or are you provided one?
You must bring your own...
OfficialVilky actually it depends, where I live they provide you with one.
OfficialVilky What if you the bike is not road legal? I have a 250f dirt bike. I'm guessing it won't be allowed.
HONDASBEST I see you everywhere lmao
At the test you have to bring your own in MO, at the riders safety course they provide the bikes . At Harley-Davidson its called riders Edge and they provide the new Street 500cc bikes.
that moment you hear "you passed" is so orgasmic. I haven't taken one for a motorcycle but I remember when I went for my drivers license...
Thanks for the video. Found it via another search, but it was still nice to see how it actually goes down. I'll be taking mine in July.
Normalize the audio. Your voice is so much louder than the instructor's voice.
Jesus, use your kill switch.
It’s so much easier to get a rider license in USA than Europe
STOP GIVING FUCKING ADVICE YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT
Here in Japan, it's way tougher than this.
I’ve never been so nervous watching something that looks simple
