Hi Steve. I wanted to comment an important note I thought on this install. I did this kit on my 2020 RGS but when I opened the stock fork caps my factory springs were preloaded a bit more than what yours appear to be. Long story short I almost lost my FU finger doing this. A few stitches later learned my lesson and come time to unleash the second shock I secured it to my work bench and tied my battery drill to it. Wanted to pass on that piece of advice for anyone attempting. I love the video and appreciate learning from your work. Ride safe brother.
Yes sir they can have some pretty good tension on them depending on what going on on the inside...When I do the SG here soon youll see that it has way more tension than this lowered kit front end...its all stock and yeah that thing can bite you if you are not ready for it.
You will love this. I couldn’t believe how much better mine rode after I did front and rear on it. Even my old lady loves it
I got to ride it alittle yesterday...will take some time to find the sweet spot just like the rear did...but so far im diggin it
I can’t wait for the video on the street glide. I have a 2012 with progressive mono shocks with 1” drop but I’m also running a 23” in front wheel. Not a lot of travel. Bottoms out all the time I use bump stops so the fender doesn’t hit. It looks great but the ride isn’t great. Hoping this system will work for me. Thanks for all the info
Sorry for the late reply, I just got back from Sturgis, it will help but youll still have to use the bump stops unfortunately ...even with my 21" ill have to run them
I figured you were out at sturgis. I’m jealous. But the air ride I’m hoping would lift me back up to stock height while riding and give me more travel in the suspension. Then have the ability to slam the bike when parked. Anyway that’s my theory. The bump stops would only come into play if I hit a huge bump in the road or while parked. Well like I said that’s just my thoughts on hoping to try and get a better ride. Thanks for getting back.
Thanks for all the time you spend putting these videos together. I feel confident I could install this system in mine now.
Youre very welcome Eric...really glad it helped and if you have any questions along the way just hit me up!
can't wait to see the video for the streetglide. My 2018 has the fast up rear so I'm interested. Nice job Steve.
Awesome ! We will do it very soon!
Thanks for posting! Just in time too!!
You bet!
Finally! Been wanting to add front air ride but could not find a video. Right after I watched this I ordered the kit. I hope you gave them notice to stock up for a lot of orders. To bad you don’t have a code for them. Anyway, thanks for the video!
Yes sorry no code for them but glad the video helped! I hope they have enough stock too!
This is so cool.. man it looks good when it's slammed!
Yes sir...she sitting low now....rides great too!
Legend Air Suspension is my choice
Currently doing this on my street Glide now. Very helpful vids
Nice! Its pretty straight forward..looks like a lot of steps but its really not too bad. thanks for checking it out!
Excellent video as usual great to see your son involved like my son hes overtaken me in height .
All the best from NZ 🇳🇿
Hey Dave..man he got so big so quick lol thanks for checking it out bro!
i just added dirty air ride to the my streetglide and it took me about 15 hours to do and that was my first time doing it. i guess the only problem i have is were my underglow lights turn off when i hit my switch to raise or lower the bike. which i dont get but i love the kit. i cant wait to see what you do with the streetglide
yeah i have no idea why that would happen..but im glad you got it hooked up!
3 minutes in and I was already only watching for entertainment purposes as this one is out of my skill set. Great video as always though, I was sad not to see the random cutaway of you gliding into the shot to advertise merch though, always makes me chuckle 😆
Ahh yes I need to shoot anew one of those lol Thanks for checking it out though!
It's about time!!
Hey how come you didnt tell me to do this sooner? 😂
Timing is perfect! I have a 15 CVO RG and wanted both front and rear air, but until today, I wasn't sure how to do it. I would like to mount my switches up on my bars I think instead of by my horn. Didn't you say someone makes the switches for mounting on the bars?
Great videos and I appreciate all you do.
Thanks for checking it out Billy...and sure...a few companies make them including Dirty air...so you can get this kit and the switches in one place. www.dirtyworks-kc.com/dirty-air-handlebar-grip-switch-with-push-buttons.html
Nice job again Steve. Handsome son you have there!
Thank you! Hes getting so big!
Great instructional video. I think I can do this myself👍👍👍
Yes its pretty straight forward ..seems like a lot of steps but its really not
Great video as always brother… I’m thinking about putting the dirty air rode on my glide too
Thank you Rick!
woo thank you brotha I really waited for this video for a long time you are a great person I really appreciate it
Hey carlos...glad to have helped sir! thanks for checking it out!
Thank you for this awesome video very detailed as all ways be safe brother
Thank you, Michael!!
So I installed the front dirty air on my 22 street glide and now I’m having bad front end wobble when I hit bumps. I have messed around with the PSI and nothing seems to fix it. Looking for insight, thanks.
Good job as always 👍🤟
Thank you Alvin!
Awesome . Thanks for this video. Well needed
Glad it helped!! Thanks for checking it out!
Hey Steve, I’m about to do my 18 street glide special. Do you have the video on the street glide install?
im sorry not yet man,...havent had a chance to even get that bike on the lift
Yup 👌👍😎
Thank you 🙏
Very welcome Michael!
Great video any chance you would know what size open end socket I would need?
Great video Steve! How does it ride? I have Dirty Air on the rear of my bike and was thinking of adding it to the front? Oh and do I need to raise my fairing back to stock if it's lowered 2.5 inches? I dig your videos, very helpful!
Rides smooth...i love it...still has that sweet spot just like the rear so just take a few rides and youll find it..mines lowered 2 inches with no bump stops and I have about an inch between the fender and fairing when aired out with a fat tire 18" ...depends on your front wheel...what are you running up front and what kind of fender?
Good job sir exactly how I want mine to look! I wouldn't try to attempt the front but definitely the rear😉
What center stand you running?
Im currently running the Southern Oregon Baggers Stand
Outstanding! Sounds like you might be getting a different one?
What's next for her? 21s, 23, or bigger? I can't wait!
Steve can you show where you got the ignition power source? That is the only issue I am having. Battery is dead and in the middle of a build so not able to identify myself.
Steve help us sir
I found it. Under the seat, the black quick, there is a wire that is red with a yellow stripe on it. I used that and it works great.
👍
Thank you Marco!
Thanks Steve a great video. Can I ask, do you have to have the electric center stand or is there a way to use your jiffy stand without the bike falling over once the bike sits on the deck to its lowered state.
Well I woulnt drop the bike all the way down in the front and rear on the kick stand...it would be to straight up and could tip very easily..I see a lot of guys have rear air and use the kick stand though
How much time overall did you have from start to finish, and what would be a decent price to pay to have this done?
Approximately how much will the front drop once the air ride is installed? I only ask because my fairing is dropped 2.5 inches.
Steve how do you remove piston from fork tube after installing. Forget too take spring off dampner from bottom.
in your kit you should have had a lag bolt in there.youlll have to dump the fork over, compress it and reach that puck with the bolt, thread it in and then pull it out
@@sikbaggers thank's BigBrother I wholeheartedly appreciate this and You!
Do they make these kits for a sportster? I'm building a low rider bobber
www.dirtyworks-kc.com/dirty-air-sportster-rear-air-suspension-system.html
Would you happen to know how many bump stops for a 23 x3.5 wheel I have the HHI triple tree for the 23 inch wheel. Anything would help. Thanks for all the knowledge.
Hey ...im sorry i do not...give HHI a call they will know
Last year Dirty Air didn't have spring and was told to use OEM. Will it be the same installation?
the OEM spring is the one you need to do air ride. You dont need to change the spring if you have the OEM one in there.
Can you use the washer on top of the spring under the puck.
yeah..i left it in there...it says to remove it but i never have
Do you know if they have this available for the mono shock softails? The heritage to be exact?
Sorry for the late reply, just got back from Sturgis..they do not make air for softails...there are a few compaines that do however and thats platinum and also Shotgun shocks
Hi Steve when I lower the bike my skirt under the fairing touches the fender, I would like to raise it no more than 1/4 - 1/2 inch max . If I do the 2 big and 2 small each side that would be a inch gap from the under fairing skirt to the fender.
What I’m asking is 1 large and 1 small would that work. Or 2 small on each side possible?
21 cvo road glide with a 21” rim
Hey tony....give Dirty a call and he can tell you exactly what you need for your set up. Id hate to tell you wrong and you have to pull it all back off.
Hi Steve much appreciated for the response. Called the boyz @ dirty air got it all squared up thanks brother!
I'm looking at getting 4" over stock forks but I want to lower the bike too normal or lower would this work with longer than stock forks?
im not sure man...give them a call at a dirty...they are very helpful guys there!
Have you guys done the street glide front porch video yet I have Electra glide which will be the same thing?
Just put it on the lift yesterday to start the video for the front air ride.
@@sikbaggers very cool can't wait for it to come out I've watched some other videos about doing some fork work on those type of fairings so I got an idea but I like you guys keep up the good videos awesome work you guys do
What about a 3 in drop do u need the bump stop??
I would add one...but ive seen them with 3 inch drop and no stops...way to close for me though
Did your fender hit with the progressive lowering kit?
No...never hit my fender
Where is the link for the street glide
ua-cam.com/video/BMo9_zevbZQ/v-deo.html
Can I make JNR rear fastup work with dirty air front air ride
Did you get the standard steel or the aluminum shock?
Sorry I'm late responding but I got the standard shocks
@@sikbaggers it's no problem sir. I appreciate the time you spend doing these videos and responding at all. I will be doing my complete body with advanblack because of your videos so thank you. Keep up the all you do
Great video
whuuut?
hi steve. i used your video on my 2005 roadglide. first time install the front air ride, i installed the rear and the rear works fine. now for my issue. the front end will go down. but will not go up. any suggestion on what would be the problem? thank you
Sounds like just a wiring issue to be honest...something isnt telling the valve to release air into the front shocks..I would give Dirty a call today if you can and let them know what you have going on...they are always very helpful when i have called.
It's getting air. I pulled the air lines to the forks and there is air.
I think there is not enough air pressure to push the pucks down to lift the bike.
Can you please tell me what is the better brand of the heavy fork oil to use
yes..just get HD screaming eagle heavy fork oil.
What if u mess a seal up on the puck
just call them and get some new ones...it needs to seal to operate properly
I did i was just stuck over the weekend hopen they could send another one put i got it and rides sooooo good
Do you remove the damper rod in the forks with cartridges type
Not sure which ones you have...just give Dirty a call and they can tell you what you need to do with your particular setup..
how does it handle with 2 up load?
we ride 2 up 99.9% of the time...i rarley ride solo and it handles the same as normal suspension as far riding and handling ...its smooth
@@sikbaggers so how does that safety valve work?
Also if you hit up does it go to a pre measured height or do u have to hit the button until that’s where you like it?
