Playing The Oldest Version of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition

- I downloaded the very first update for Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition in 2023 and got to play on the oldest version for the first time. This video includes survival gameplay and exploring the first tutorial world Minecraft ever had and ends with checking out an old famous seed called gargamel that was popular in the beta era of Minecraft Java.
This is the first edition of Minecraft console exclusive to xbox 360 because it was before Minecraft got ported to Playstation 3 and way before PS4 and Xbox One released. This was a very nostalgic revisit and it reminded me a lot of old let's plays I watched like Stampy's Lovely World in the first few episodes where there was no hunger bar in the game or even the end dimension. The tutorial world was much more bare bones than the more recent ones. There is one medium sized castle near a village and then another small village hidden in the distance with a few other little builds like a tower but other than that it was mostly an empty world to explore. The newest ones are completely full with builds and custom terrain and it is amazing seeing the progress the building team has made over the years. Another cool aspect about Title Update 1 on Xbox 360 Minecraft is that they use the same seed generator as Minecraft Java Beta so the old seeds that were popular back in the day work on this version. I got to check out gargamel which spawns you in this grassy area surrounded on all sides by towering cliffs and caves.

You can uninstall Minecraft and reinstall it so you can play the old version, it will be buggy because it's completely 10 years old by now, and it hasn't been touched, since the village and pillage update,
Nightmares weren't a bug, they were a deliberate mechanic to discourage players from sleeping in a dangerous area. However, there was a bug associated with the mechanic, that being the game was overzealous with what it considered to be a "dangerous area".
I wish the nightmare mechanic would come back. I really like it. The old mechanic would be a bit trigger happy on what it considered dangerous (I have torches lining every wall how am I getting nightmares). But with some tweaking I think it'd be nice, or at least cool as a thing in Hard mode.
@@Eshyyyyy IDK if it's been shoved in your face yet but Minecraft: Better Than Adventure brings a lot of Alpha and Beta features like Nightmare and older mechanics back to Minecraft while combining new Gen and Classic World Generation.
My favourite part of these old version is their simplicity. You spawn in an empty world and you, the player, fill the world will builds likes houses, railways and castles.

FINALLY someone understands. Not only was the game simpler, but the time we played was simpler. Also, the lack of SO MANY blocks made it simpler, and made you extend your ideas on what you can do.
I believe the sleep 'glitch' you were referring to was actually an intended feature at the time to prevent players from sleeping in an unsecured location. You had to close all holes to the outside and light the entire room so no mobs could spawn to prevent it.

2016-2019 minecraft was the most nostalgic for me. I remember only red beds, old wheat textures, pocket edition and Xbox controls. I miss the old feel of it.
That 2016-2019 was good , but was still already "new" for the generation of Xbox One . The nostalgic for me is the 2011-2013 on 360.

Not really any nostalgia in those 3 years. 2012-2015 was peak bedrock Minecraft.
@@ChipCheraYeah, for me I had already been playing Minecraft for 6 years I'm 2016, so that still feels like new Minecraft to me.
The first version of the Xbox 360 was equivalent to Beta 1.6.6, which had an interesting bug; randomly generated seeds rarely ever generated clay.

This version had really nice colors and shading.
I also miss the crafting menu, I like the PC manual way more since that's how I started but the 360/console versions had better organization and readability... Same with old console terraria, it had better lighting and menu's too.
I remember playing a lot of castleminer and castleminer z back in the day. I was so excited when minecraft released on Xbox 360, I got it day 1
This is the first version of Minecraft I ever played originally being introduced by an old friend at the age of 10 or so… once you got into that tutorial world and explored it more and more it actually brought a tear to my eye. I made so many friends through Minecraft Xbox 360 edition that I know I will never talk too again, a whole world with people’s gamertags and houses they had made. A much simpler time.
I miss the old textures. I wonder what Minecraft would look like if we still had old textures. (I mean on everything, not just aquatic stuff)
Also the mobs waking you up isn’t a glitch, it was a feature until I think 1.0
Modern Minecraft seems kind of diluted to me. Don’t get me wrong it’s great with all these new features, but I really like how simple and beautiful it used to be. It also just kind a look better.

@@DollyBoy_1923 With Minecraft I agree with the saying "Less is more." because it seems to fit more of that sandbox genre in my opinion. The way you don't spawn with much but then you turn the world into something more despite the limitations.
@@DollyBoy_1923 You should try the Better Than Adventure mod. It's a Beta 1.7.3 mod that adds in new biomes/features from modern Minecraft but keeps the Beta aesthetic. There are still less features than modern Minecraft, but it's a pretty fun mod that mixes beta with modern features really well.
This is the version I started on. Just me and my cousin having fun. A truly bygone era. Thank you for letting me relive this.

I didn't play Xbox 360, but I played Xbox One.
I absolutely loved and still love the game to this day. I just remember all the random friends I made and all the worlds I created, an giant unfinished SCP foundation, a Saw map, and my hard survival world. One day I'll plug that thing back in and create another post, asking people to join my Saw map to have fun, cause why not.

This is nostalgia for me. Played so much of it on the 360 back in the day and can gladly say I played the oldest version. I remember when we had no creative mode and had to use a duplication glitch with the dispenser to make due.
Genuinely loved the vid! Was so nostalgic and was funny too! I love this version of minecraft so much, I started playing on the Xbox 360 a little bit later on in 2012 so I never got to experience the original 1st version of the game. Thanks for the video!!

We found our old Xbox 360 and pulled it out for our 6 year old. He absolutely loves playing Minecraft on it and doesn’t even notice the difference. Saved this mama from buying a whole entire new system for one game
What a brilliant edition for him to make so many memories on!! It’s my favourite way to play the game and doesn’t matter that it’s no longer updated I’m happy he’s still enjoying it to this day

Great video you earned a sub So nostalgic probably one of Minecraft’s greatest time periods. I’ve wanted to re experience TU1 as well but I have the disc version too. So does buying the digital Xbox 360 Minecraft work if you already have disc version because I’d really like to try this out but don’t want to waste £15 for it to not work or delete my saves

I remember I had a world that was completely covered in snow with spruce trees, man it seemed like it was always night/snowing and it actually felt like a cold world and just felt really interesting

Thats what I love too! The colours seem to be more vibrant and inviting to keep playing and be more creative. And the way the world generates is better. Not everywhere looks like the same uninteresting land
If you have Java Edition, I think you'd really enjoy the Better than Adventure mod for Beta 1.7.3. It's pretty much a B1.7.3 mod that adds in modern biomes and features while keeping the whole Beta aesthetic. I've only had it for a few days and think I've put in at least 10 hours lol

To be honest this video made me like and your other videos like to I were playing together with my friend on PlayStation 4 and I say about old version particularly together with such masterpiece music and great interface this version something really wonderful in order to spend really good time in comfortable and funny environment.

This is my preference to play Minecraft. It's simple, open, and so nostalgic. It's not as big as it is today with more dangerous mobs, better textures, and blocks. But I think the reason I enjoy this is because it's so much simpler, calming, and something I could play whenever I want to relax.

Honestly I find TU11 to be the most nostalgic because it was the first version I experienced the Legacy Minecraft ports
I think that’s what I grew up playing for a while too. I remember the tutorial world with a sandstone and cobblestone fortress with houses on top
I remember playing on a cracked XBOX 360, I bought minecraft and the whole game was this version. it was a pity at those times, but now it is nostalgic for me and I felt like if I was playing the Beta versions of java
I remember desperately working to muster up 20 bucks so I could play this the day it released. And luckily, I did :)
Before this, all we had for 360 was Castleminer Z and Forge Miner. I already had played Minecraft since like Beta 1.7, but my computer was too slow, so I'd always have to wait until I went to my aunt's house. So many great memories staying up way later than I should and playing with my friends at school! I remember I'd start at like 7 PM, the sun would go down and then before I knew it was sunrise.
Just a tip, if you ever revisit the TU1 world, theres a secret chest that has diamond armor, and a full set of diamond tools. If memory serves me right, you jump off into the water from the dock, around that area theres glowstone and there you go. Remember that secret like it was yesterday

Awesome video portraying the charm of older Minecraft. Do you happen to remember the fix for the sleeping glitch where you got killed?
I have no idea how it fixes it seems kind of random. It might be needing to place torches everywhere but sometimes even that doesn't work?
Do you have any ideas on how to fix it?
It's not a bug, it was a feature! If you tried sleeping in a dark place, monsters would wake you up. So you had to have a well-lit safe area to sleep.
Man I remember this i use to make parks with my family. We built all kinds of stuff ranging from video games, areas, pixel art, etc. I built fnaf characters along with the stage. Good times. 😅☺️💙
How did you get this to work? If I have the disc for minecraft, can i downgrade the version down until this one? Thanks

Oh I miss old minecraft. Way back in the day our only PC bit the dust so I missed out on minecraft from about release 1.0 to 1.12. Until then we had gotten it on 360 the second we could, hours of me begging my mom for the funds to do it. Me and my two brothers played for HOURS on one world, I vividly remember one of my brothers working on a zombie spawner farm for feathers while me and my other brother basically ant tunnel'd the entire world into our house.

At 6:30, the reason why slabs are faster with a pickaxe is because until Java 1.3.1 and TU9 on 360 (the update on the retail disc), every slab had the properties of stone, including not being flammable. This is probably because until those updates, slabs for the other types of wood didn't exist, so it was easier to code them as if they were stone. Any slab placed before then retains its properties until its mined, and in the game's code they're known as "petrified oak slabs", and are normally unobtainable.
How were you able to do this on Xbox? I tried to do it via UA-cam tutorials but it didn't work out and only let's me play the demo version.
I wish there was a way to play older minecraft on bedrock. It would be awesome if you could open a menu where you could play new bedrock updated xone edition, 1.0 xone, and same with x360. Its annoying you gotta boot up java or a 360 to play this version. Sometimes i get tired of the hunger bar and the new updates and want simple minecraft
I remember being in high school when they first released this. I remember watching a video from someone who played it early access and the main mob that would spawn were zombies! Over the years terrain generation has certainly changed a lot. There were a few inexcusable years where it was flat out boring but that has been mostly fixed. My only gripe with the game today is the hack slapped in New music that both doesn't match the vibe of the game and they couldn't even be bothered to put in at an appropriate volume. When it plays you can't hear anything else. First time in history I've considered modding back to slightly older versions

Hey! I have a question. When you were downloading minecraft from the arcade store did you delete the title update from the game files to get the old title update? Because that's what i did. And my game works but my skin has a glitched cape which i didn't even wear previously and all the animals and mobs are glitched too. I also have a disc version of minecraft and i did the same thing and it works perfectly with no glitches, but i want to play the first version of mc for x360. Do have any ideas for fixing it?
I did delete the update files yeah and I've heard other people had this issue but for some reason mine was fine. Thats so weird and sorry I don't know how to fix it. Maybe its because I have the disc version too that could have the missing texture on

I have the original disk copy and never updated the game so I don’t even have hunger bars or sprinting. Also all of the skins are bugged out since I never got the first bug updates.

I remember my friend Matt inviting me and my other friend Kane after school to “ play this new indie game “ and when we got to his house we played 4 player split screen with his Brother. Legit all of us finding out how the game worked and getting full suits of iron Armor the first day was an amazing experience. By the time we knew it was late we got in trouble but it was definitely worth it.

I may be wrong, but the colors may just be due to the higher default gamma settings in the options.

How did you get this to work? I have the arcade version, when I delete the title updates and launch the game it only lets me play for 30 mins on the tutorial world, says I need to activate the game. Would appreciate it if anyone else knows how.

Under water in older Minecraft felt scary but there wasn’t shit down there to be scared of only what ifs but it was easier to see but it’s easier to move thank god now with sprinting underwater
