- Playing Minecraft Pocket Edition Lite in 2023
This Minecraft Pocket Edition demo used to be on the android play store and apple app store but has since been removed. The only way to play now is by downloading off of fan made websites which is what I did for this video. It is a very old nostalgic version of Minecraft with exclusive features such as the cyan flower and nether reactor core. It was a very limited edition of Minecraft which stopped you from using a lot of features just to showcase what the full game could be like if you paid for it. Playing pocket edition lite in 2023 brings back a lot of old memories before I ever bought the full pocket edition on my ipod many years ago. Lots of herobrine sightings were filmed on this edition and it made it extra creepy with the bad graphics and low render distance creating fog. Comment down below what you remember about this deleted edition of Minecraft. I would love to hear any video ideas you have for me in the comments as well :) Please leave a like and subscribe if you enjoyed this Minecraft let's play episode and I will see you very shortly with more content!!!

THIS. THIS WAS MY FIRST VERSION! I KNEW I WASN'T IMAGINING IT! I have a really distinct memory of hiding from zombies in a 1x1 glass 'house' with a single torch on the floor.
Edit: Kinda wild how many of us actually did this 😅
LITERALLY
whenever I mentioned a minecraft version with locked inventory no one seemed to remember it,I was going crazy ☠
God I remember this. I loved this..
ME TOO ME TOO LMFAO
me too, i remember i just got minecraft like these when i shared it it in my mom's friend
I remembered playing the Lite version, at this point I call this history.
I got a version called explore craft, it was back in like 2013-2014, and it is Minecraft, like it has the textures and stuff, its like the bedrock background with a spinning image with a farm and villagers, it's a bit janky but it was sick
@@zacky_winkleI remember a minecraft ripoff that looked like Minecraft and felt like it but it wasn’t
@@epiknineteen I promise that this was the actual Minecraft, no way an app could rip out even the music and not get a lawsuit
@@epiknineteen I remember there was a rip off of minecraft back in the day called survival craft
@@Jordanthecool7 i still remember back then people would fight over which was better or making (fake) but cool transitioning towards different games.
Man THIS is where I started Minecraft. Me and my friend didn't have PCs capable of running Minecraft so we often played on our tablets. I remember pocket editon was missing so much stuff from the regular version. Pocket edition at first had no weather effects, no nether, no enchanting, no day night cycle in creative, few biomes and finite worlds. However over time they slowly added all this stuff into the game and every time they came out with a new update we were SO happy lol. I kinda miss this ngl.
Yes n not having to worry being a adult n playing for hours after school ahhh 🔥
God, same. I had this world where apparently there was only a single cactus block in the entire world, so I immediately smelted it into dye and dyed a sheep, and then got so upset that I couldn’t find anymore cacti. I went on entire expeditions, I charted the entire world, block by block, and there was just no other cactus, so I vowed to keep that green sheep alive.
Haha I remember that too! Do you remember how building a nether portal would just create basically a room that was supposed to be the nether and you'd just run around inside of it collecting stuff?
@@kassandraharrison1181 I do! Funny story, same world as the cactus world I had created a powered rail mine cart system down to my mine to make hollowing out the world faster, which I was doing to find enough gold to make said nether portal. In hindsight I’m pretty sure I used all the gold I needed in that mine cart system.
I too remember playing old Minecraft PE on my tablet and thinking it's so crap. My Dell PC was awful but playing survival at 10 fps was still much preferable to the terrible mobile version.
I actually used to play this version on my IPad 2 when I was 6. I still have it on my IPad which still works, and I am able to see the 5 worlds I made. It brings me back to the old days when your world was 256x256 and the only biome was oak or birch, and you only had a set inventory. Currently it runs on the alpha editions of pocket edition.
Edit: Omg I never knew that I would get so many likes! Thx a lot
I thought I was the only one lol
If you had the demo version, you wouldn’t have been able to save worlds

Fun fact: With the old world border, you could fly up so high and actually land on it and walk around. My brother and I did that just to see what would happen, and while nothing interesting did, we could never find our way back to the world itself.
The nostalgia is unreal
Oh damn, this comment just brought back so much memories lol. When I got bored, I'd usually fly up and walk on the border and get lost. Thanks for reminding me
@@millicentwood549 anytime! I wouldn’t have remembered that if it weren’t for this video, so glad we both came across it!

That was THE thing to do
A minor detail I like for some reason is that the “LITE” naming scheme was actually the standard App Store branding for any “demo” version of a paid game. Doodle Jump Lite, Angry Birds Lite, half the apps on every kid’s phone had those 4 big letters draped over the home icon. By the late 2010s Apple themselves started phasing this out, rejecting apps with multiple versions in favor of one free-to-download app which uses IAPs (In-app purchases) to unlock the full content. Now the ftp model is standard, and all Lite versions are dead.
In that way this application is not just a relic of Minecraft’s past, but the mobile ecosystem as well, in the days before micro transactions. Lot of reasons to remember this era fondly, lol
no wayyy thats actually so sad
i remember playing the jurassic park: the game back then and it was suddenly gone. now i know why it was removed
this comment brought back the memories. appreciate it haha
EXCEPT GD LITE
gd lite is goated
The good old days of making the dumbest builds for hours and having a wave of sadness wash over you knowing the world would get deleted once you closed the app 💔
There was always that sad moment when you'd have to turn off the app. I remember I would leave it running in the background and sometimes id be lucky and it wouldn't have restarted but other times it had and everything was lost
@@JerooMinecraft i remember this so vividly, i didnt want to go out of the app bcs i knew i would lose my progress/builds 🥲
I remember building a (in my child mind) really cool brick house and then the app closing later…
I remember my sister telling me that the zombies ate baby sheep so I would trap baby sheep in a hole so they would be saved. I miss this so much ;-;
I was around for this but I had enough money for normal pocket edition so I sadly never got to play this
It wasn’t boring at all, at least when I was a kid it was so easy to be entertained by this game because of how massive it was, and being able to play it, even a extremely dumbed down version of it was still a treat. This game will forever be one of the best ever created
If i remember correctly, Lapiz Lazuli is available in creative mode and kid me tried my best looking for it in survival mode but found nothing, I haven't even found an Iron Ore which he found at the start of the video
I somehow find these old simple versions of Minecraft more fun than these new versions with a wide variety of features
@@darthvader0219It’s the nostalgia effect, cause this version in specific objectively sucked.
and now kids today could never have the attention span for that being overstimulated by cocomelon from birth💀

Back then me and my buddies spent countless hours on this version of minecraft, it really didn't take all too much to keep us entertained, we made do. Getting a bit teary-eyed over this, thanks for unlocking some tossed off to the side memories.
i see u everywhere wtf
I remember playing this as a 6 year old. I remember making the tiniest library with like, 2 blocks of room to walk around in. I also remember being extremely proud of this library.
I used to make a side cliff library and show my mom what I've made, the world has now long gone
Are you me? I'm 18 yo right now. I miss Steve's voice.😂
Fun fact: you can break out of the invisible world border. Just fly over the block limit and you can break out free. This applied until infinite worlds were added. Even in 0.9.0 upwards you can break out if the map was made before infinite worlds
I remember that version. One time, a few zombies went into some water, and that's when I called it the "Zombie Pool". I also wondered why most blocks were unavailable.
Because it makes u wanna buy the full game
thanks for remembering the zombie pool
dude like naming things in my minecraft world was my favorite thing to do back then
I remember naming a forest "mob forest" just because I saw a couple spiders and a creeper walking around there. I literally had like 10+ different named locations on my first minecraft worlds lol

That happened to you as well?!? Man that was so annoying, I remember I messed up one of the wires on that weird charger the iPod 4 had and could only charge it if I put the cord in the right way, and eventually got to the point I couldn’t risk to take the charger out so I had to leave it in all the time even when it wasn’t charging
I played it on my cousin's samsung tablet

I remember playing on this version, digging a “secret base” into a cliff near the water with sand below it, placing torches everywhere to make it as light as possible, and wondering why I couldn’t place torches on the ceiling
As a kid who grew up with a samsung galaxy tablet I bought at sears this version is all I knew for ages with basically no internet access or data, seeing family or friends play the newer version made me very jealous lol

when i was little i was jealous of my sisters friends access to redstone on her PS3, i was stuck with the lite version lol

@@SMCwasTaken YOO SO NOSTALGIC
This was incredibly nostalgic. I remember I would always download APKs of the official PE cuz my parents never trusted online stores back then. The first ever real house I built was an underwater dome made entirely of glass, it took ages getting all the water out just placing down dirt and breaking it again, but I still remember it vividly. There was something special about the old world generation. It felt smaller if that makes sense, maybe it was just due to the render distance but it felt a lot cozier, like everything was always within reach. I'll always be nostalgic for that era of Minecraft
they didnt trust online stores but trusted apks?? wow
@@hannahelma25 they definitely wouldn't have if they understood what they were lol. they're not the best with technology
@@CreateAmazment haha yeah i get that, i just find it pretty funny
Omg I did the same thing! There used to be a fan made website that archived all the PE versions and would always post the latest updates so for many years I didnt pay for the official game until I was much older
i also have that nostalgia for this era of minecraft, also my earliest memories of the game, there is just something thats so comforting about it
In my country, instead of it being called the "Lite" version, it was just simply called "Demo". Because of this, I thought the "Lite" version was somehow the superior version, so I made it my mission to somehow get my hands on the Lite version of Minecraft. When I eventually did, I can not describe the disappointment I had when I realized it was identical to the demo version, just with a different name. 😭💀
I played the heck out of this demo when I was a kid. It wasn't so boring when you'd never played Minecraft before. Good memories, I got the 360 edition a couple months later. Back then, this was the greatest.
brought some memories out of the vault with this one. I remember moving from Florida up north and this is what kept me occupied during that straight up pilgrimage. This was my FIRST experience with Minecraft and I wouldn't change it
I remember playing this demo on the tablet I got for Christmas in 2012. When I finally bought the full version it was on 0.6 and I was pleasantly surprised to see that block selection was larger than what was advertised in the demo. Both of those versions are leaps behind the new ones and it’s crazy how time flies.
I used to play the full version of Minecraft PE (0.6.0 to 0.8.0)years ago. It is weird to think about how much has changed.
Me also, on iPhone 4s all those years ago.
Had the lite edition too which I could download on my older iPhones as still linked to my downloaded apps.
remember the weird version of the nether?
@@growskull omg yea the nether reactor 💀💀 bro that was the best thing to do
I remember ri used to play pocket edition 0.7.2 alpha lol
This…this is the very first Minecraft experience! I remember leaving my lowly IPod on to save the progress of the endless skyways I built in the world.
this was truly magical. something about the soft narration over this ancient version which i played all those years ago on my tablet for hours. seeing the cyan flowers again and the world borders brings back so much but i could vividly remember a similar experience of having a tiny house and the lighting effect from two torches on either sides of the door being a reminder of home :,) i really enjoy this warm feeling remembering how it all began
This was actually my first version of Minecraft, I was about 6 or 7 and my mom wouldn't get me the paid version so I would just play this version since at the time Minecraft was getting pretty popular and I wanted to play it so bad. I remember there used to be an even older version that had less hotbar space and a timer to your game. I don't even think there were mobs in the game, or it might have ended before I could see any. My sister and I got the mobile version eventually, and I remember using this app that was a monsterpedia, and when I read about silverfish I thought they were in the water and I was terrified. For the first week I only dug down and covered myself in a hole because I was too scared of the monsters. I only played with my sister because it wasn't as scary. We would always flatten the world by hand, basically making our own superflat. Sometimes we would play creative too (superflat wasn't an option so we also had to manually flatten it then) and make cities with schools, hotels, etc. I played the demo on pc all the time before I finally got the full version and superflat creative was my go to, which considering how my sister and I played it was amazing because I didn't have to flatten a whole world by hand. But also I kind of missed doing that, it was part of the fun, it gave us a goal. I might have to try that in the newer versions of Minecraft.

I was so exited when I asked my mom If I could pay the 7 dollars for the full version
I played this on an old iPad long long ago, I knew it was always there but it was also not talked about often too. The world generation was so simple but unique. The whole game was. A small bit significant piece of gaming history
Oh, i have not forgotten about this era. Yes, there were previous versions, survival was a 'later' addition. I don't know what version I started with, but I still remember it as the most 'interesting' world generation I've ever seen in Minecraft.
i played this before i was able to buy the full version of pocket edition, i was either 9 or 10 years old at the time. i remember being too scared to play in survival mode, and even though i was in creative i still was terrified of the zombies
This video unlocked a memory of me messing around with the nether reactor when it came to pocket edition ages ago.
holy shit i rember playing this version. my parents bought 3 samsung tablets back in the day and didnt buy the full version for us since this was free. i would just play this with my younger siblings all day, doing whatever scenario came up in our heads. good times.
So many memories playing this Lite version of the game. So much nostalgia in this version. I remember making house with the multicolored glass. I left hoping that it would save, but it didn’t. Another time was with my brother. He was bridging really slowly so I decided to troll him, but left before i could begin my troll. Good times…

I remember this version fondly, I remember the locked items so vividly, especially the blue flower and iron sword, and I always wanted to see it again to remind myself. I remember I made a two story "house", which was just a brick oblong, with ladders and bookshelves.
A group of friends would constantly build together using pocket edition lite at school. It was so simple, yet a lot of fun. The novelty of Minecraft on a phone was awesome :)

does anyone remember waiting for updates for the mobile version of Minecraft because pc had more stuff though all you had was like an ipad or a phone
The most memorable parts of old pocket edition were the weird glitches and stuff I found. I remember finding out you could place ladders on the world border and so I would sometimes climb up out of the world or even build a base just hanging off the world's edge. There was this one really weird glitch where if you played on creative in a multiplayer LAN world, you could kill other creative players with a bow and arrow, but they would simply bounce off the host of the world. Also, when they added paintings, for some reason, they'd just bounce right off. And of course, my favourite glitch was in an update where they messed up the recipe for iron blocks, diamond blocks, etc. where you'd craft them with only 6 ingots of the material but uncrafting the block gave you 9 still, so it was the easiest duplication glitch ever, and I took full advantage of it before they fixed it like the next day. Ahh, I wish I could somehow recover those worlds :')

Didn’t ever figure it out but Singleplayer was still a lot of fun!
I still remember 12 years ago as a kid and just dig down to hide from Zombies in LITE when I couldn't afford Java or Pocket Edition (now called Bedrock) yet. Now I have both Bedrock and Java, and I can still remember the old youtubers I used to watch playing Minecraft (talking about you TobyGames aka Tobuscus.)
The Herobrine genuinely scared me. I am never watching your videos again.
Okay, jokes aside, this was a nice throwback to the olden days! I used to play a similar version of Minecraft (I cannot recall which one) on this REALLY old tablet that my uncle had. You could barely do anything on there, and I could barely even navigate the inventory. But hey, it was still Minecraft.
literally scared me
Hehehe sorry for any herobrine related stress caused 😅
So nostalgic, I remember playing this when I was really little and couldn't get the full paid version so I had to play this. Staying in a glass house at night when zombies were the only hostile mob in the game. I remember playing in bed at night at my grandma's house on this seed that had a really cool lava waterfall right by spawn
This but I think it was the version before 0.4.0 was my first ever introduction to Minecraft and I loved it. Nights got so damn dark Zombies were actually terrifying. Especially with how loud theh were, and nt dumbass thought they were bipedal bears lol.
Ah, I remember when tablets and smartphones were just becomming more accessible to everyone. I played this scuffed version of minecraft a lot on the tablet, even though we already had java edition for like 1-2 years by that point lmao.
this version is probably one of the only game ever all of my siblings and myself gets to play together, crazy how accessible the multiplayer was for something that is in alpha
I remember way back playing coop with a friend on the mobile version of minecraft. Was pretty fun given how the "Nether" worked in it as well
for some reason, there were some blocks that were only obtainable in survival mode like logs, stone and foliage (since breaking blocks in creative mode just deleted the block completely and they didn't exist in the creative menu). there was no way to obtain lava or water either, so back then you had to be really careful when building in creative mode if you wanted to incorporate those elements in your builds. i remember spending hours looking for the perfect naturally-spawned tree to build a treehouse on only to accidentally break a log or leaf block and completely ruin the build 💀
some other things i remember are:
- stairs only facing one way, corner stairs being nonexistent
- no glass panes
- no slabs
- birch trees existed, but no birch planks 🗿
2:13 reminded me of the herobrine scene. when i first watched it YEARS ago I thought it was real and it was scary and I was always scared of playing after that video.
I remember this version so much back when this version was available. I played it on iOS back in June of 2013, and played on it a ton. I remember being always bothered when you could not save worlds and had a cow over it.
Sadly, they got rid of it that same year, and since I still had it, I was able to play on it until iOS10 was released. Afterwards, I was not able to play on it anymore. The good old times man. Brings back memories. Thanks for sharing
Seeing just how different this was from modern Minecraft proves that time flies way faster than we think!
HAH, Minecraft was many years ahead of the pocket edition back then. Pocket edition sucked really bad until 2017.
I remember I’d leave the app open when I shut off my iPod touch, to preserve my pocket edition lite world.
Fun fact: if you go to the corner of the world border in the mcpe demo/lite version, you could actually get over it. The invisible wall/barrier only goes up to the build height limit and if you climb up there with blocks or ladders (on the corner of the world border) you could stand on it. Idk that explanation didn't sound like it made sense but what I'm trying to say is you could get over the border on this version.
I searched "Minecraft Lite" out of curiosity because a small memory of it popped into my head and I have never been so pleased with a youtube search. I first played this on my IPad 1(Yes, the first ever original IPad. I still have it) when I was 6 or so and was the first version of minecraft I ever played. Watching this video gave me a massive wave of nostalgia.
I played this version when it first came out (2012 iirc) and it was the best thing ever until I got the ps3 version. Those old textures really make me want to cry.
It’s weird but I prefer the old textures they give me so much nostalgia and happy memories just seeing
Brought back so many memories from LITE and even the normal PE from back then. I once had a 2 tall mine outline of the world because of how small it is. Also fun fact, if you were to fly up to max height while next to a world border, then you could fly over the world border and just be standing on air outside of the world
This version is pretty nostalgic. I remember back in like 2014 or so that my grandparents didn’t want to get the full version so my sister and I had to settle with this version while at their house
I remember there was a survival mode, and I remember basically everything but what really stands out when I think about this version was the hurt sound effect. It was so funny as a kid lol
one of my favorite worlds of all time and my first survival worlds ever was in this, i specifically remember using the world border as one of the walls for my house because i was lazy, good times.

I remember building a city in Lite version and I was so afraid of loosing the world because after some time when you didn't use the app, it would load via the main screen again, so I was basically opening lite every 1-4 hours and hoping that the game is still running
I remember playing this version on my iPod with my siblings when I was very young, I always use to make underground houses with them. This was really great to see again.
I’m pretty sure this is actually the demo version, not the lite version, which was the version only available on android devices. The lite version was on iOS. I can tell because the Lite version didn’t have the grayed out blocks in the inventory.
I never even realised there was a difference thanks for pointing that out

I have a few really distinct memories in this game. One was me fighting a horde of zombies and hearing the old "oof" sound for the first time. The other was mining straight down and finding diamond ore. Not sure why I remember these, but I do.

I remember playing this on phones/tablets at best buy
I remember thinking I found a cheat when in creative mode on this version
