    The player is the one, it’s less than $1k, you don’t need humbuckers, switches that do this and that or fancy paint, all you need in a Telecaster is in the player model.

      i agree if you get the maple neck and change the bridge to a proper tele one for pretty cheap/

    I've had 2 of these 1st one butterscotch current one is tidepool. Both great guitars. I've had several usa teles (special, standard and 52 avri) we all know that the telecaster is the best electric guitar ever made! 😉 the player telecaster is right up there. Sounds great though a good valve amplifier!

    I actually just bought just the body,for a good price,in this exact color(which is gorgeous, but looks more teal to me) for a custom platform. I don’t need the Tele sound for what I do right now, but the body is far more comfortable than a Strat. I also play Les Pauls but they tend to be harder to travel with. I plan to set this up with a Gibson Scale Warmoth neck(personal preference on scale), and probably set it up for pickup quick changes somehow, though my initial setup will be a P90 neck and Super Distortion T bridge. I play hard rock and pop punk mostly, so I am leaning more towards a heavier sound. I know some purists might say that’s ruining a Tele, but right tools for a particular job. If I need a traditional Tele sound, I can always swap out pickups.

    The American Performer has really impressed me. Has many of the modern appointments of the Player - 9.5” radius, C shaped neck, neck truss rod adjustment, medium jumbo frets… But also has those amazing Yosemite pickups that just sound magical without the push/pull or any other bells and whistles I don’t want. And the 3 brass saddle bridge too. Think that’s the one I’m holding out for, but would also really like to try the Isbell after hearing so many good things. Nice video 👍

      The Isbell is awesome, however recent runs of them have tended to be too heavy so gotta watch for that.

    5:41 I think the normal Tele bridge is a different size - not sure that it would fit as a straight replacement 🤔

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  Рік тому +2

      Its a straight swap for a 4 screw brass saddle bridge set up - the Wilkinson bridge fits straight in too in pretty sure

      @derekclacton Рік тому

      @@Paul-D Thanks for your reply :) I much prefer a 3 brass saddle bridge too and had been thinking about getting a Player to mod but looking at the different bridges types, the Player bridge is longer and I wondered about the number and position of main fixing screws, as some bridges have 3, others 4. Did you have to make any changes?

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  Рік тому +1

      I have seen a few people online say a 'vintage style' didnt fit. But I think this is uncommon and maybe they bought a specifically different bridge. I found the normal 4 screw ones and the Wilkinson one fit directly on with no drilling or modifying needed.

    Player series is definitely a big improvement on the standard series but not quite reached the heights of the Classic Player or Classic series MIM IMHO.

      @@Paul-D. Fender sells a telecaster body in Candy Apple red. About $250 US. You can also get various necks from them.

    I have the same guitar and love it. I originally had a CV squier and it has some serious problems, so I traded up. Only ended paying a few hundred more for the Fender....

      My Strat is a Squier. Got that particular model(the Sonic) because of the thinness of the body. For some reason, thicker Strat bodies are uncomfortable to me. Have everything I need to get that where I want anyway, except a comfortable neck(I like thinner necks than that one has)

    It’s good for the price, soundwise perfect but the fret edges are too sharp, you’ll need a luthier to sand them down a bit for smoother feel.
