In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). This is the most I saw Alex struggle not to laugh so far. I love Fern, she's so honest and tries really hard to get things right and I think Alex understands that and empathises and it's part of a really nice dynamic.
I'm looking forward to her next novel

But she says that they were filming episode three of Taskmaster so the studio shows wouldn't have happened at that point.
@@yellowrubberducky81 they were filming the studio show for episode 3, surely. They dont shoot the tasks by-episode. John said that bit about the Pharmacy Ducks during episode 2 in the studio

That answer to how she contributes to the world could not have been more true. Her book is so touching and enlightening and honest. She's a genuine inspiration.

@CM_CM_ Sad they did that. Parents are just people and people have issues. I know my parents issues, love them still, but there can be parents with too many issues to forgive. I don't see why that's a bad thing to yell into the void. Many people have bad parents, and the publishers trying to portray otherwise is just wrong.

Fern is great, just a lovely human being. She’s brutally honest, and I feel has made her neurodivergence a positive in her life.

I mean this in the kindest possible way as someone who's also Autistic, but it's absolutely baffling that she wasn't diagnosed with Autism until 2021. She's textbook.

@@heythisanimalcantalkmost people don’t get checked. Sexism usually sent the reason for most things, especially not as often as you look for it.
@@Mike_Dubayou yes, most people don't get checked, but when boys behave or develop atypically they're far more likely to be recommended for an assessment and to be taken seriously. misogyny has always been an issue in health care and this is an especially well-known issue in the autistic community. i think probably do your research before trying to argue

After watching half the series I feel confident that Fern's default mental state can best be described as "mildly chaotic 13 year old" so you're not wrong.

I hadn't heard of any of the contestants other than Dara O'Brien prior to the season since I'm in the US, but it has been an absolute delight to watch Fern Brady throughout this season thus far. She seems really sweet and charming.

I thought the way Fern said she manifested her anger was comical and just for laughs but after reading her book, i realised she was being honest here.
I'm only now just catching up with the last series and oh what a great one it was! Dreaming about Greg and his kitchen cabinets and asking if that is how posh people dream, its just so relatable haha. We thoroughly enjoyed series 14, all 5 contestants (And Greg and Alex) were fantastic. Love you all!

I wrote this before I knew she was autistic, and I’m autistic as well so watching it back makes a lot more sense and let’s me enjoy her humor in a new way

you don’t have to label her. She is autistic. She talks about it all the time.

I was really hoping that circus merry-go round object fell off (Like it did in Dara’s interview). If it was staged for each contestant i would’ve loved to see each of their reactions, felt like Fern would have jumped a mile

I find the way she talks _adorable._ Curious if anyone from Scotland agrees, because I don't think it's just her accent.
I'm not Scottish myself but being familiar with Scottish accent, it's def not just that. She's got unique inflection and pacing. Also, she has sneaky, late-diagnosed autism (which, so do I and most of my friends) and the particular way she says some things really slow/quiet/deadpan and excitedly shouts others is very familiar to me :)
@@stilltrying619 Ah! Right, I saw her live the other week and she mentioned the diagnosis. Probably in good company among Taskmaster contestants-they always look for a variety of minds :-)
@@jyrinx Definitely! Like Brigid Christie seems autistic to me though I don't know that she's diagnosed. I think autism is well-represented among comedians in general, because it gives people a unique perspective and affect that can be very funny.
Totally agree - it's not just the accent.
The neurodivergent experience is summed up by Fern's sex dream being thwarted by the distraction of really nice kitchen cabinets. I have never felt more seen
