In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

I don't think I've seen a Scottish contestant yet that I didn't like. My favorite line is from Series 8, where Iain is teasing Sian about her being a "northerner", and she goes "I'm Welsh, you're more northern than me!"
And he cooly goes, "Ah yeah, that's right."
Iain is one of very few contestants that I just didn't like. Fern on the other hand was a delight. I'd love to see a Fern, Kearns and Lucy Beaumont TV show where they just do things in their own strange ways.

@@glockenreinJulian has multiple every show, but that was best. With Julian, it's 100% intention, 0% the actual words spoken. With Fern, it's exactly the opposite. Both are a treat.
Idk because on the off menu podcast fern said she hates how everyone in the UK seems to love roasts because she thinks they're really bland. (Her off menu choices are top notch btw)

I mean, she's wholesome. It's legitimate. It's just often not good. You should read her book.

She could have sliced (or, in absence of a knife), mash the potatoes with her hands or feet onto the pens (or mash separately then put on pens if the pens would get too broken/hinder the mashing process). She might have thought of that with more sleep / under less pressure.
You left out my favorite moment: Greg tries to do a Scottish accent, then beats himself up for doing such a bad accent. Fern, very reassuringly, says “that’s ok. I can understand you.”
They left it out because it wasn't actually in the show, it was an outtake

Anything is better than series 15. That was a snooze fest.
Every series of TM is special in its own way. And each series has its special personalities. But Series 14 easily is in my top 3 favorites. (My favorites are 5, 7, and 14)

This is so true and may be the biggest TM injustice I can think of... they're usually good thinking of everything
I absolutely adore Fern Brady. It was only after the series that I found out she was autistic. I thought she was excellent and the second time around, you can pick up on certain cues or things that she does/says. What she’s been doing since the show aired is absolutely phenomenal, raising awareness about autism.
Her memoir is soooo good. I work with children with special educational needs (well, mostly their parents), and it really helped me understand them more.

She wasn't "out" during the show but because the production asks if people have phobias or sensitivities before shooting, she was able to prevent many of her issues from cropping up. And she was able to be more herself than usual, which was met with laughs and not the normal weird looks.
@@wiredforstereo she's talked about how good the show was for her sensitivities (lighting, clothing, make-up too I think) in interviews she's done since. Normalising differences like this helps everyone be able to be themselves and be more forgiving of others; 👍 to the representation and her being allowed to be less "masked" there (she's also bi too, btw, which meant I paid a little more attention when discovered her a few years ago being adhd & a bi group organiser/activist myself, she's lovely).
I love Fern Brady, definitely one of my favorite contestants!

Fern is so relatable as a fellow autistic, love how she's educating folk about it too
Her book is fantastic, really brutal at times but as raw as it needs to be to put the point across.
Fern immediately crawling into one of those tubes and getting distracted is very relatable to me
Other amazing Fern bits:
1) her snort, raspberry, whistle breakdown
2) her amazing self portrait
3) the dead chicken prize task
4) "where is it, where is it" while looking for the tiger's bum
5) laminator bifurcating poo
Let's be real, there's enough material for another Fern best-of video.
And you have to love her acting of Sarah's 1-minute play. That task was one of the best "performance" tasks ever, comparable to the song to Rosalind. It's a shared task with Sarah's playwriting, and it's a masterpiece. That entire task should have it's own video tribute someday.
The play and the self portrait should really be on here - they were such brilliant performances! That plus the masterpiece that is Me Fern Brady - gal's got talent.
@@somethingelse9176 I can understand why the play was left off this "best-of Fern" compilation. It was a 2-person task - Fern performed it, but Sarah wrote it. The acting was magnificent, but the writing was equally magnificent, so you can't put it in Fern's greatest hits without also including Sarah. Eventually, the 1-minute plays will be released in a video of its own, I hope. I think the 1-minute play was one of the greatest tasks ever done on Taskmaster.
Sarah's play with the cats was so beautifully written, and she explains on the TM podcast that the cats were the spirits of the people who had died in the old folks home. It must have been something that she's had personal experience with - maybe she's worked in one, or she has a loved one in an elderly home. It's such a powerful narrative of loneliness. And Fern treated this play beautifully - she knew it was such a good play and she put her heart into it. Masterpiece.
my Fave fern-ism is: to me, the obvious thing is to let the bird fly.
I think Fern won a lot of fans from this series. The whole cast was marvelous and so different to each other - and yet Fern was just that little extra bit endearing. Just a delight on the show.

Fern has said publicly she’s annoyed she didn’t get five points on the songwriting task, I agree with Sarah getting five because of the context and it made for a nice moment, but really Fern has won for me because at least once a day my brain will start going “here we are again series 14 who will be the house’s queen…” etc ❤
Fern, John, and Sarah all deserved 5 points for their songs, I think. I was singing about a naughty satsuma in the shower this morning lol.

I loved this series. This "best of Fern" did not include the 1-minute plays and Fern's magnificent acting of Sarah's play. I think I understand why. Someday that entire task should be a video of its own.

I don't know what's more disturbing, how much pleasure Fern gets out of torturing Alex or how happy it makes me to see her enjoying that so much.

Another excellent compilation of an excellent contestant on one of my favorite series of Taskmaster. I think this video could be doubled in length because she had so many terrific moments. :) (Her laughter while semi-torturing Alex in those rubber tubes is pure joy.)

Ive thought Fern was absolutely amazing that season, but during the classical music lyric task i just noticed she's wearing a casio digital watch. A real simple and basic time piece but a workhorse at the same time. I had one for something like 6 years before the strap broke off and i lost it. I miss that watch.
That season was possibly the best lineup of the whole show.

There are a lot of contestants who are the crazy/silly ones. I love a lot of them but there’s just something about the wholesome nature of Fern and the feeling that she’s a lot more intelligent than she leads on but we’re not really sure.
Fern is so wholesomely autistic, she talks about how she thinks so differently from other people.
Probably my favourite contestant, and definitely the best costume!

@weltallin1828 this 1000%, the constant fatigue from living and eventual autistic burnout is exhausting.
From personal experience, when I'm not tired I feel weird because I'm so used to experiencing a level of chronic fatigue (chronic in the sense it doesn't really go away)
