Andrew Garfield might not be everyone's favorite. But he will remain as the coolest spiderman in the mcu for quite a while. This the crane and basketball scene, are some perfect examples
I love the use of the lyrics in the song as the voice in Max’s head telling him to “Kill them all.”. It slowly starts building up more around 4:59 until the rage consumed him and his theme exploded alongside his power
If you listen to the track on the OST, it perfectly captures what an anxiety fueled paranoid breakdown feels like. You're scared that everyone is out to get you, and so you lash out again and again, succumbing to the voices whispering cruel reminders of how much they hate you, even if it isn't true. I've been stanning this song since the movie came out. I'm finally seeing other people appreciate it
I think he knows their names because he's probably dealt with them when he rescued someone from a fire. A very interesting detail that emphasises Spider-Man as a hero
This is such a well written scene with understandable motivations from LITERALLY every party: the cops are now used to supervillains and overreact to Max, not listening to what he's saying. Max's plight is incredibly relatable, nowadays we all sometimes feel overlooked and meaningless in a sea of publicized success and Max is the paragon of that helpless emotion. Spider-Man is genuinely just trying to save people, and in doing so convinces the Police Captain to order his men to hold their fire, and doesn't immediately discount Max despite dealing with other supervillains on the regular, and ALMOST manages to talk him down. It turns this scene from a potential comedy of errors into something tragic, where everyone does their best and it just isn't enough... and we really get the sense the outcome... while horrible, was unavoidable. Spider-Man could've forgotten his name, or that Max existed. The police captain could've argued with Spider-Man, all of these things would add conflict and therefore drama, but what we get is so much more impactful and creates some real narrative weight by allowing the tension to slowly build while you desperately hope for a positive outcome you have to KNOW you won't get.
Harry is written very well in this movie too. The fanboys might not like this film (and I'm a LONG time Spider-Man fan, even before the movies), but it can be strongly argued that there were some gems in this film. For me, the acting and how Harry is written are the two biggest ones.
"Where everyone does their best and it just isn't enough" That's a good take. I'd also like to point out the communication break down between police and electro. They keep seeing a threat because electro is too confused to listen to their commands. And the cops probably have adrenaline dialed up to 11 against a possible supervillain.
how is it a well written scene when the public are just ignoring a blue guy absorbing electricity in the first 20 seconds like its totally normal and nothing strange is happening?
The spiderman ik. The perfect spiderman. Talks sarcastically. Tries to help and solve problem maturely. I cant think of anyone who can portray spiderman better than Andrew.
The movie maybe flawed, whatever.. This whole scene right here is a masterpiece. Narrative, plot, setting, dialogue, visuals, performances, the beautiful score, everything is 10/10. It gives me chills every time. I come back to watch this scene every so often. Truly phenomenal work all around.
Except for max randomly believing that spider man tried to set him up even though he clearly heard him tell the cops not to shoot. He was a big fan of spider man and went to hating him and not trusting him instantly. I just think that could have been handled better

This scene makes you realize how bad max had it he was so innocent and didn’t deserve what he did and even when he has power people still hate him it’s just really sad but a very well portrayed scene from both Jamie Fox and Andrew Garfield
Poor Max. Peter really did wanna help him. The way he enthusiastically says “I remember you!” And how he restated how he was his “eyes and ears” was so sweet..he yelled very clearly and loudly “This is my buddy max!” And “No one shoots at Max!” god I love Andrew’s Spider-Man so much..

Had the chance to hear this theme performed live by an orchestra. Was my favourite piece that evening, eventhough they played Interstellar and Inception aswell.
God, you can almost feel with Max in this scene. He's scared, yet has unimaginable power; a feeling he's probably never experienced in his life, and naturally is overwhelmed. Spiderman genuinely wants to help him though he forgot his name, and Max even agrees. The stupid police though man...
And the fact that most police that are known in the world these days are like them. Hurts an innocent citizen without listening for the explanation and saying they're the angels protecting us from evil when most of them act like the fucking evil itself...

This movie is a masterpiece in my opinion. And electro is excellently written, he is exactly how a spider man villain should be: a victim, not born evil, but angered with some trauma that caused him to become more violent. Edit: Idc what y’all say Andrew is my spider man
How is that exactly how a Spider-Man villain should be? Kraven was never a victim and he’s on of Spider-Man’s best enemies. Same with rhino, mysterio, the lizard, etc
This scene is why I love Andrew's spiderman, he's empathetic enough to recognize Max was scared, and before assuming he meant wrong he tries to calm him down and keep him stable
@@TeenPerspektivait's not about spiderman at all, the point is without Electro's super powers he'd been dead, Spiderman did nothing to protect this "innocent citizen". His entire involvement looked more like self boasting
The part at 1:17 when Max's theme goes back to the isolated flute with the negative voices, it's right when Max had realize what was happening and was trying to tell everyone he meant no harm. With that part continuing to when he and Peter were talking, it was as if there was hope that maybe Max could be saved as he was seeing through the pain, sadness, and anger. When he was shot at and Peter saved the people, the spotlight was now on him. If you listen to the voices, it changes from the voices attacking himself, to attacking Peter. "He lied to me, he shot at me. He hates on me, he lied to me" making Max believe that Peter was against him. This is when Max is no longer there as he has been fully blinded by rage, anger, sadness, and revenge. Hans really did amazing work with Electro's theme. Absolute art.

I love that Spider-Man’s villains are most of the time just people like him that got their powers and don’t know how to control them. While also that’s what makes Spider-Man so awesome is that he understand how dangerous powers can be and he learns to control them and be responsible for them. True isolation is a terrible feeling. 6:52 Absolutely love that beat. I wish they used it when Electro appeared in the MCU. Imagine hearing this when Tom Holland's Spider Man was webslinging and trying to avoid lightning blasts while his friends kept yelling directions.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man is weak compared to Andrew Garfield's. A lot of the positive reviews on Tom's films were on purpose to keep shoving random stuff in peoples' faces
Honestly Andrew is my favorite Spider-Man. He does the Peter Parker sense of humor. Tobey is ok but he seems awkward to me. Tom is good too but Andrew to me is better. The films aren’t better but him as an actor is.
He is mines too!!..he's the best spiderman honestly but not a good Peter Parker!..I like him because he's tall and great voice for spiderman!!..Tom is a better Peter Parker....Tobey is a mix of two but he's an OG so lol...
I agree. Andrew is the best Spidey and Peter Parker. I feel like there’s this mass delusion that Tobey is a better Peter, but Peter in the original comics was never an awkward nerd who was tongue-tied around people and just took abuse from bullies. He was a genius in an absent-minded professor kind of way who always had a snappy comeback for anyone. And he could talk to girls just fine. I think people just see Tobey acting awkwardly nerdy and like a social outcast and assume that’s how every nerd is supposed to be and that it therefore must be an accurate portrayal. Andrew is much closer in spirit to the original Stan Lee/Steve Ditko Peter/Spidey.
What made this movie so interested is Jamie Fox playing a villain when I never thought He’ll be playing a villain and He played it so good especially that part when He screams out.. “I SAID STOP!” Blowing every cop away the best part in the movie in My opinion

I love how he "accidentally" managed to perfectly control his powers and lift the van up and over his head but not to hard as to kill the man in the truck. This entire fight would not have happened if not for the idiotic police and the even more idiotic mob heckling a guy who could probably kill all of them.
Everyone is mad about the script but imo this is the closest to real life and how people would treat them.Fear, hate, and anger at something they don't understand.
it's realistic. i still remember a video of one officer with the words "you're fucked" engraved in his rifle misleading a person into making a mistake just so he could shot him. American cops are 99% psychopaths
7:00 what I love about this scene is like peoples reaction like what happened to spot in the spiderverse. He kept being made fun of and as soon as become so extremely powerful everyone is suddenly scared and regrets. At least this Spiderman at least tried to help and I don't blame Electro for mistaking him as his enemy as everyone treated him horrible his whole life so it was easy for him to go off at him.
Few things i love in this scene is: Peter trying to calm Max down the music of the voices reflecting Max's hatred the quickfire web shooting to save the civilians and the firehose attack by Spidey with the helmet.
Even to this day, I love how this scene portrays everything we love about Spiderman. His first priority is to help Max, and protect the civilians. Yes its unrealistic that so many people would just stand and gawk there, but in this universe the citizens are probably so enamored and confident in Spidermans abilities to handle the situation. Plus you'd be suprised how many people actually stop to spectate real accidents, this is similar. Spiderman first concern is everyone's safety. Even when things get out of hand he uses all of his jokes, speed, and experience to protect the New Yorkers and even Max , until the fight escalates. This is why this is always going to be one of my favorite live action Spiderman fights.
People are acting like they're in colosseum: Max slowly realizes that they don't care for morals as long as there's a show. There is neither good not evil, audience only care about _power_. In order to be seen, he must do the action, so he doesn't disappoint the audience. Gave 'em exactly what they called for.
@@queterian1526 Damn I never thought about it that way, but it's also probably because people fear what they don't understand. This is honestly the best scene in the film, Electro was sympathethic hear but also intimidating and showing Peter trying to connect emotionally with the villain was awesome. The special effects are top notch and the way they shot Peter stopping people from getting electrocuted was badass.
0:43 This scene is just Legendary to me, the way Electro just shows his face and this BEAUTIFUL music in my ears just shows how much horror the cop has right now. Beautiful acting.
Thing that always pisses me if about Spider-Man is his fans (which is also kind of the point of it all I guess) always assume they’re in a safe vicinity just because he’s there to save the day and stick around to cheer him on and it just makes his job all the more overwhelming lol
5:05 I love how we can see his anger starts boiling over when the screens around him started glitching out, wonderful details. Till this day I think this Spider-Man movie is the most aesthetically and artistically made live action Spider-Man movie of all time.
I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Electro is pretty damn relatable in this scene (and a lot of others in the movie), and I prefer this incarnation of the character quite a bit. He's genuinely sympathetic, and that carries through the majority of the film.
If they played this right, Spider man could of “recruited” max into being an ally fighting crime, max was never evil to begin with, and he definitely would of went with it to feel wanted and to serve a good cause. it’s this scene that caused him to hate Spider man and humanity
Yeah right this scene caused him to be gone and filled with vengeful, anger, rage and hate Spider-Man and the humanity, it's all that stupid Sniper Guy!!
I felt real compassionate towards Electro The Cops ignoring his pleads, Spiderman being cocky and overconfident, people yelling at him He didn't feel as a villain but as a victim And although him starting wrecking havoc is bad - I completely understand his reaction
@TheDragon4356 Initially he was be he stops the snark when he listens to Max's pleas. He understood that Max wasn''t actually lashing out of his own accord until he started getting shot, that him simply 'stepping' close to a conductive force was enough to set him off, so he was trying to calm him down, so that he could get him somewhere safer.
The moment when Electro absorbs all of the lights in the square, making it almost pitch black, and then blasts it all back out, lighting the place up again, is a sight to behold.
@2:13 I really love this visual effect where the bullets sparkle when they hit Electro-man goes to show a tiny piece of metal like this would get electrocuted...

The soundtrack for both movies was also excellent!
Harry is written very well in this movie too. The fanboys might not like this film (and I'm a LONG time Spider-Man fan, even before the movies), but it can be strongly argued that there were some gems in this film. For me, the acting and how Harry is written are the two biggest ones.
"Where everyone does their best and it just isn't enough"

It cements itself for being one of the most human scene in a Spiderman movie for this human-villain interaction compared to the more "just a regular kid and human with a superhero suit and power" of Tobey Maguire.
Summary:
Tobey Maguire - more human for being a regular kid in a superhero suit with a sudden responsibility given to him
Andrew Garfield - more "human" for trying to focus on a problem that causes the rampage of an also "human" villain; one of the best superhero-villain interactions ever
He is such a well constructed villain, the idea, the plot, the story everything about him in these scenes are perfect for his character, even the music itself is a perfect representation of his character and his transformation, this is perfection
4:53 I feel bad for this guy.
El solo queria un amigo 😢😢
Sí 😢
he was innocent....
I watched this in the theatre, I still remember the soundtrack. EPIC. Gives me goosebumps every time.

The final fight at the grid had the most iconic score from Hans Zimmer I had ever heard.
1:59" I SAID STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" Electro was cool but that sounded so ridiculous 😂
I actually enjoyed this movie when I was 15! When he absorbed the electricity, my jaw dropped in the theater along with the beat!
Poor Max Lmaoo he just wanted a friend.
He should have made a fb account.
@Logan McGlynn well just let him enjoy what he want
@@destro5451 lol
@Logan McGlynn the movie is good.
@Logan McGlynn just like you and your Tobey nostalgia... lol I'm more likely older than you and like these movies way more than any spiderman. Andrew was the best.
God, I walked out of the theater when I saw this movie and immediately looked up the soundtrack song for this scene; it’s beautiful
It's called "my enemy" hahahaha I hear it like 10 times a day for my motivation!!..I absolutely love it!!!..it's an amazing score honestly!!..
Andrew’s Spider-Man is the best when it comes to interacting with New York’s people. From calming distressed citizens, to conversing with kids, to even throwing quips/negotiating with dangerous people…
Can you imagine how incredible a hero Max could've been? Seeing how close he was to just getting up and leaving without any further incident, makes me wonder what good he could've done alongside Spiderman had he been given the chance.
