Just a random comment, but even though it sometimes doesn't show up well on the minimap, I have to say I really like the purple vs yellow colors as an alternative to the standard red vs blue.
Personally I disagree, I find especially purple unit visibility to be an issue if watching on a small mobile screen.
@@Wesden7 at that point colors are almost irrelevant. On mobile these casts are basically unwatchable due to size.

@@davidc3754 yeah they have a machine or something that teleports them away when gravely injured.
They don't die. The little blue beams of light coming out of them when their suits explode is them being warped out via a micro-portal. They are patched up and sent RIGHT back in again.

You need to start labeling them "game of the year contender" then do a mid year judging /voting and then do another at the end for the coveted ;) lowko game of the year title. Get fans involved and stir up extra views on old bangers. I think it could be a thing.

Showtime quickly expanding to the bottom right is actually so clever! If/when the game goes long, those bases usually end up going to the bottom left player, and in this case, Maru took those bases after they were already deeply mined.
the thought of, "looking over my monitor and seeing Maru winking at me." is indeed terrifying.

ShoWTimE was not die Mauer this game, he was relentless der Fluss, the river. Constantly flowing forward, washing over the stone and sweeping away the poor cockroach.
How do you micro as a Professional Protoss player? Just watch this game. All you need is F2- AMOVE BABY. Oh wait I forgot the times he held his entire army in a clump and pressed the spell for disruptor/storm. That takes tons of micro /s

That game was just Showtime beating Maru to death with his wallet. He really should have used that income to transition to higher tech while keeping Maru contained instead of taking that bad engagement in the mid-game. A few Immortals, and perhaps even a Tempest or two to deal with the Siege Tanks would have been very useful. He DEFINITELY needed to get Storm earlier in the game as well.
Still, it was a masterclass in "more stuff beats less stuff".
That is easier said than done...
Against an opponent like Maru, you can't give them the slightest bit of a pause unless you very much ahead and even then it is dangerous. So upgrading is compromising your ability to pressure. I think it's no insult for Showtime to acknowledge that mechanically, Maru is just better and Showtime knows it. So he has to kind of overwhelm him from a position where he has the better income. If he had gone for the upgrades as you suggested, I suppose you would have been surprised at how fast Maru can come back to hit you. And if you invest into transition and therefore have less army or only even to him, that is enough for him to destroy you 9 times out of 10.

ShoWTimE just emptied Maru's bases from the beginning, that lower right corner base he took dried a lot of Maru's income for the later stages of the game, as the game progressed he just fell back and mined those bases he could defend easier while the bases that were left for Maru to take had already some mining I love this Zerg'y way of playing Protoss makes it an interesting race to watch unlike a couple years ago
This is definitely one of my favorite games that you’ve covered over the last month or so.. the resilience from Maru was so fun to watch!!
Lowko, The Wall still fits... because either the opponent is being pushed back against a wall, or they are unable to fight through the wall...

but my old C&C heart coulnt deal with the fact why maru never put some siege tanks on the highground from like 11:00 on! i bet 2-3 tanks up in the main base would have shut that northern agression down pretty easy!

They may look flashy, but this playstyle where you throw away 2x more value in units to the terran tanks and bio sucks badly. That's not how protoss units are supposed to be used as.

Random question, why do terrans no longer use a depot, barracks, and then a tech lab or whatever to compete the wall off? Instead moving it back so that the tech lab and two depots make the wall off later?
I think it’s because when you spawn on a certain side the depot will block your add on placement so they preemptively build the barracks to the side so they don’t have to stop and lift off later.
Maybe we should call maru Batman. Against all these super powered aliens, he seems to be holding his own.

Maru is the only turtle Terran who's fun to watch. I wonder what type of Turtle he would be. Could be a fun nickname for him.
I've never understood something; in almost all of the casts I've seen, I don't see the pros remaking the Oracle(s) if they lose them, even if they have the resources to do so. If they have so much utility in the mid-late game, why not rebuild them??

Same with the orbitals, why not build more if it possible?
@@karenwang313 Orbitals are more valuable the earlier you make them so as the game goes on it becomes less worth it. Especially when you are constantly trying to remax. If you watch their resources they rarely have enough to comfortably be able to make another one and still replace troops. This is my opinion at least I am obviously not a pro player
Oracles main use is early game harassment and decent scouting. Mid game the harassment is impossible due to AA defenses. And their cost just isnt worth imo compared to observers, their stasis has some uses but is situational. This of course is just my two cents on the matter, i am no pro by any means but was a protoss player back when i played
They are VERY expensive, relatively speaking, and really only useful if you need them for detection. They have a critical design flaw in that they use their energy when attacking, making them pretty useless once a lot of units are on the field.

name suggestion for Showtime: the croissant. why? because croissant's refer to showtimes crescent moon basses layout similar shape to a croissant. second when you push down on a croissant it puffs back up revering to showtimes flexibility.

my first game I saw of maru was on submarine against a zerg, he defended the early cheese and onslaught for 15 minutes or so and out macro'd his opponent and won the game even though he was "behind" for 20 minutes against a wall

Almost any terran would have lost this game at 12 minute mark, some miracle engagements kept Maru in the game.
This high economy low tech push to finish off low eco opponent I remember MC doing that a lot, and many others.

Showtime's playstyle was definitely more of a "mauerbrecher" than just a "mauer".
Wow, Maru felt like he was in such a dominant position for so long and then one little incorrect push into the Protoss base meant the complete and instant loss of the game for him.
Dominant? He completely surrendered initiative from the very start and let his opponent expand while he turtled hard for most of the game. There was nothing dominant about that. I would have been pissed if he still won after being so completely outplayed.
@@Leonhart_93 I'm talking about after the whole backed-into-a-corner part, where he suddenly reversed the situation, claimed half the map, and kept winning against Protoss in every engagement big or small. I was cheering for Protoss but found it looking bleak toward the end.
@@LoudWaffle That's how it looked for Maru in the first part but he was still fine. So it was just a repeat of the same situation for the opponent. Attacking puts you at risk of losing faster.
