I've got six Foxbody mustangs. Picking a Tire all depends on the application of the Car. Street vs Drag.
    1. Ask yourself what your going for Street or Dragstrip.
    2. If you say Drag....But still driving it on the street 80% of the time....then get a summer tire. Buy a cheap pair of rims for the rear and put a Drag Radial on them. Swap when going the strip.
    3. If you say Street....then go with a Summer Tire for daily driving.
After testing tires for 10 years, here's what I found personally. Not knocking this video at all. Just giving my experience.
    1. Best Summer tire - Hands down: Hankook Venturi , Firestone Firehawk. - The best Foxbody tires on the planet. 295/35/18 on the rear max with rolled fenders. 285/25/18 - no rolled fenders.
    2. Best Drag Radial for street driving and strip: Mickey Thompson SS drag radial. No matter cold or hot weather these stick like glue. Nito 555's only work well in semi warm weather.
    3. Best Drag Tire for Medium built foxbody: 650hp to 800hp - Mickey Thompson SS Drag Radial.
    4. Full Drag: 800hp + : Cooper Slicks best, Mickey Thompson Slicks second.
    5. Nitos are just not that good for daily drag mix.
And Lastly, Why are Foxbody's so temperamental with rear Tires?
    1. The rear end on a Notchback Mustang is Extremely Light. There is no weight in the butt. They naturally spin very easy at low to midrange acceleration. Even when they are stock 5.0's. The car will get sideways very easy at 1st to 2nd gear wide open throttle. And I mean.... 90 Degree sideways.....Move weight to the rear if possible. Battery relocation to the trunk does help. Spare Tires in the trunk actually HELPS! keep your spare in the trunk.....yes more weight....but you need it.
    2. Hatchbacks are a little heavier in the butt end and more forgiving.
And Finally.....Suspension....Suspension....Suspension. Start with the rear end first and work your way forward on the car. The Ass end of the car is the most problematic so spend your money there first. Coil overs and proper Spring Selection is HUGE!
    1. Too stiff of a coil over spring - and your screwed.
    2. Too soft of a spring - and your screwed. Daily drivers should use Bilsteins Shocks with Maximum Motorsports coil over kit to match. They ride amazing and perform amazing. Use a 150lb or 180lb spring for the front. ***with a 12 inch to 14 inch spring length. DO NOT BUY 10 inch springs for a Foxbody. Ever! You want weight transfer to the rear when drag racing. You want the front shocks to unload fast to shift weight to the rear. A 12 inch to 14 inch spring will give you the best ride height without having to spin up the Coil so high when adjusting. This is all about ride height and keeping the shocks in their sweet spot.
    3. If you want street and traction for road coarse like feel. Then you want a good mid range lb spring all around with a 12 inch spring.
Great video! Nice work and love the car.

THANK YOU been looking for a real video on the tires, they actually look pretty sick on the drag wheels, been my biggest worry about buying anything otuside the Mickeys, looking for the drag look and performance.

I want some tires like that for my 92 GT with the 03/04 17in. cobras. What size would you recommend?

The Offset of the rim is critical for the size tire. Do you know what the offset of those rims are?

285 or 295 17 inch will work in the rear. If you have rolled fenders, you might be able to go a little larger. Maybe a 305. Stay with a 35 tall it will help.
Not sure if they make a 17 inch 03/04 Cobra rim anymore. Unless you get a factory rim. Most all are 18inch replacement like LMR. Need to check. I would do an 18inch rim if it was me. They will fit. Running some now on the 86. No rubs with a 35 profile. 295/35 on the rear.
Fronts you can do a 245 or possibly a 265 if you have stops on the steering rack.
Do you already have the rims in a 17?

@@StageShout I already have the wheels on and have 245/45/17 and the front wheels rub. I want some meaty tires in the rear.

@WhiteFox92 Yeah a 35 profile really helps on the front.
Rear you can go 285 no problem. But go with a 35 profile.
