I had a similar experience. Ran the ET Street S/S for about a year and it would spin 9/10 on a street launch. I am now using the ET Street R for the past month on the same roads and it hooks much better. Lowered my 60ft by 1 tenth of a second. Its a very good radial. I am sure on the track it will be awesome too.
Yea they have done good for me and are lasting awhile through all the burnouts and daily driving

Those marks are from the balance machine hub nut thingy. What they use to tighten the wheel to the machine!
No it’s from the socket.
From socket being to big. that wheel would not require the adapter. Only use those on 2500 series trucks
Thanks for posting! I also have a Silverado and getting ready to buy tires and looking at S/S versus the R....how are the R's driving around town now that you've had them on for a little bit? I am looking to run the 315 60 15's on the R, versus the 295 if I went S/S. I've also been reading both these tires can have a slight to severe vibration above 70mph due to defects...you notice anything so far?
Been doing good on street for me I haven’t had a issue at all with them I have drove in rain a little bit but nothing crazy and I just take it easy on turns hasn’t gave me any trouble

@@Chris-fl5lw I run them around 20psi at all times to make them wear pretty even if you run normal 30+ psi it will want to wear just the centers learned that from the SS’s I’d only go more if u plan to tow something but as far as empty our trucks are light in the back and with the wide width of the tire it wants to balloon the tire and wear just the middle since trucks light in the back

The testing part of the video is excellent. Sell that launch control to help pay for the tires, it's quicker from idle every time !
Depends on the surface if I’m on a real sticky surface it likes more rpm and also I mainly do bracket races so it makes for better reaction on the light having it
As u can see in video as I turned it up it started wanting to spin the higher I stalled it equating to lower 60

My fuel injected 438windsor 68 mustang 3k lbs big stalled th400 410 gears cal tracs shocks and traction bars 505wheel on e85 and ET STREET SS tires will not hook full throttle even from a slow roll. Car is a weekend street strip so not worried about rain. I raced a Tesla Plaid and neck and neck till SS tires lost traction and i was going sideways. I am gonna try the R's 275/60r15 and hopefully next time i can give plaid a race...lol
When i add a Novi2k the car will make 700wheel low boost. Should be good for high 8's.
Will the R' last a long time on a weekend street strip car that never driven in rain?

I’m still running same tires today they are starting to get low though after all the racing and street driving I’m surprised how long they have lasted I’m guessing might be shorter if u so a lot of asphalt burnouts since it’s rough and eats tires up
What’s the drop on this truck? I have a 4/6 on my single cab, always ran a 28” radial but wanting to go to a 30”
Kinda hard to say cause it’s all custom suspension stuff but I would think it is like a 4-6 it’s double adjustable coilovers and stuff all around so height is adjustable
Be careful. I called Mickey thompson tech and they said ET street R has nylon belts instead of steel belts like SS. She said the R is not recommended for any prolonged street driving, just to track and back, not a daily driver or a fwy car and never long distance..Tech said the R can overheat and possibly cause a blowout, and the tire wears out fast.
SS doesn't hook as well but much safer on street and they hook better when warm. I have driven SS tires everywhere and never an issue.
Reviewer on summit racing said his ET street R's blew out on fwy after 100 miles, and he never had any issues with ET STREET SS TIRES..
Just a word for the wise..
Now i am weary of using the R"s on my fuel injected 438windsor 68 mustang cause i drive the car on fwy and lotta street driving on weekends only, but still.
The summit racing review who said he blew his R out on fwy after 100miles has me worried.
I have run et street ss tires 18-20psi for years on street and never an issue. I dont want to be worrying about a blow out on fwy with et street R's, even though it probably wont happen its more likely with R over SS.
Yea do what u feel is best I drive 78 miles one way on interstate to work and back all time. I haven’t had an issue myself with the R’s and I’m normally running like 20-22lbs as well. I will say I am going to switch back to the SS just cause I did get caught in rain one time on way to race and 360d the truck because had standing water on the road even though was putting 35mph
@@FrogsGarageDude dont ever drive R's in rain. You're lucky you didn't total car. SS actually do fine in rain, just dont go too fast.
What’s the rim’s name?
Maybe it's from when they balance the wheels on the machine. Sometimes they just spin the damn thing to tighten in the hub of the wheel and don't center balance the wheel when tighten causing it to get hit

I hade 275 60r15 ss street on my 06 mustang and they rubbed like crazy. Was thinking about getting 255 60r15 street r do you think that will still rub? Any opinions?
Kinda hard for me to say considering I ain’t able to look at the vehicle and the rims offset and stuff plays a big roll on if the tire will clear or not. Should be able to clear the 275s no problem if u have correct offset rim I see them run them all the time with them
The 275/60r15 were on a set of race star with a 44 offset I've ordered a set of mickey thompson street r 255/60r15 hopefully they don't rub

@@FrogsGarage That's why I bought my own manual tire changer. The old fashioned way to change a tire and it works and is real easy. I've had way too many tire shops mess up rims. I do get them balanced at a shop though that I trust for that.

That looks like the cone they use to mount the wheel on the machine made those marks.

Yes it was able to put power down on street better with the R’s like I showed in the video. On dragstrip I would dead hook with either or. Even later when I went to a 4800 stall the R’s did pretty good on street even without warming them up with burnout

That’s not the socket my man. That’s from the balancer cone they put on it to hold it to the balancer.
I would put money on it that, the rubber lip that is supposed to be on that cone is missing or worn out.

I just put those f14 ,17,15 on 295 rear on wife’s trans am . Don’t make them do all that tell you want new . Going threw all those steps will cost them more & tell that kid to go bag grocery & collect carts . Ding Fries are done

markings on your rims are from the wheel rim clamp on the wheel balancer not the nut socket.

That’s not from the socket that’s from the holder they install when balancing it was probably missing the rubber protector
Didn’t think bout that your probably right they have still been giving me the run around so this week when I’m off work I’m gonna go file a civil lawsuit. After getting all the lube off noticed they screwed the damaged all around the bead edge of the back rims too

The carcass of the R' is different than the SS....the R is same a the Pro. You need closer to 750 to put the R to work.

Now you know if you want something done right do it yourself and sfi hardware and buy an accurate torque wrench and torque to wheel manufacturers required spec.

Yea I ran darlington hooked fine but I did lower the pressure to much one pass and wrinkled them up and broke loose

The street R is a better drag tire than the SS is neither will be good on wet pavement or in the rain they will be dangerous they are designed for dry pavement now I've had some Nitto NT 555R drag radials that are not as good as the Mickey Thompson ET street R or the SS for drag racing but they are good for cars and trucks that get driven on wet pavement or in the rain as good as most street radials if it's a daily driver they are safe if you drive normal in wet conditions the Mickey Thompson ET street Rs and SS are not the Nitto NT 555R is closer to Mickey Thompson street comp tire
I actually haven’t had any issues in the rain it does fine for me I just drive like got some sense when it’s raining now haven’t gone through like hard rain condition where it’s standing water I’m sure wouldn’t do good in that situation
@@FrogsGarage You haven’t had issues with the R in the rain or the SS? I have the SS and they aren’t too bad in the rain but as long as you don’t go over 40.

If you take your truck somewhere to get something done with the tires request that the technician use hand tools to remove the wheels. Because if you don't the tech will use their impact gun 10/10 . And you take the chance of them damaging your expensive wheels.

even the ET Street Radial Pro is DOT approved street legal however they recommend for drag use only
ET Street S/S and ET Street R are street legal, ET Street Pro is NOT…simply a DOT stamp for class racing but says “Not intended for highway use” right on the sidewall, just FYI 🤷🏻♂️
Those handy dandy 2 lines going all the way around the center of your Rs (instead of just the dashes like Pros) are what give them water ‘voids’ to make them JUST pass as street legal👌🏼
