Congratulations Gus! Good work! Would love to see a video on how you take care of and store your frames post extraction. Like how you have the bees clean them up, wet or dry store, storage method, etc.
Hello Gus I have just found your video’s maybe a few months ago. Just like to I have enjoyed your video’s an you know how is spot on an I have learned from your video’s. Keep up the great work an THANKS .
Hey gus appreciate your knowledge and your videos I'm going into my hives today to do my final pull my honey is very dark not exactly sure what's in the area where I am this is my fourth season and I'm anxious to move forward and expand my apiary. I'm currently running 34 colonies.
I extracted fall honey a few years ago. It was almost pure golden rod and some aster. It crystalized two weeks after I bottled it. What went wrong? I've let the bees keep it ever since. Thanks for the videos Gus.
Congrats on the good season! Question for you going into fall. Do you go through the individual boxes this time of the year to check on the bees and ensure they have plenty stores, or do you just lift on the back of the hives to ensure they're heavy enough to avoid possibly injuring the queen from inspections?
Hey Gus, after extracting, and frames with little honey, do you set the boxes out in the open for the bees to dry them? How far away from the bee hives? Thanks!
@@gusmitchellcranesnesthoney6529 Nice. Thanks! I saw you had some boxes stored on their side in the bee yard and was wondering if those were for the bees to rob out. Curious how big of a deal distance really is if the entrances are reduced and hives strong.
Upper entrance, no insulation, I should reduce entrances but typically don’t. Anything to prevent rodent damage is good, I’ve just gotten in the habit of not putting sticks in.

Congratulations on another successful harvest Gus, time to slow down a bit and recover ready for next year 😁🐝🐝🐝🐝
Well done Gus, I hope you get a bit of a break! It’s a slog in the end, nearly there myself!! 😅!!
Congratulations on a great year! I also love my fall honey and it's what I get asked for the most.
16%? Holy moly! Is that room heated way up to get it out?
I got it in the 80’s but still had honey in the combs after spinning.
@@gusmitchellcranesnesthoney6529 I keep forgetting it's way colder up here.
Good job! Aren't you concerned about the comb honey crystallizing?
Not yet

Nothing wrong there it’s just the nature of honey

I’ll look at the population and stores when I treat for mites. From there I will combine ones I think won’t make it.
cranking the heat in your honey house won't help move the honey out of the comb?
Yes it will, especially if I leave the supers for a few days.
I just wanted to be done this last time so extracted the same day I pulled.
@@gusmitchellcranesnesthoney6529 thank you

I set them outside at my shop, probably 50 yards from what hives I have there

How long could you keep your comb honey stacked up before packaging and how is it kept till then?
A good while the way I do it.
Off topic but what’s your single brood chamber hive winter setup? Upper entrance, insulated top? Reduced entrance? Any thoughts appreciated

Good deal..
