i'm 5 years in and it turned my life around. I overdosed on ketamin and really ran myself into the ground. Was addicted to alcohol, weed, drugs, working as a waitress and just really wasting my life away. I got clean and eventually also moved back to my parents, basically started over from ground 0. It was a long way for physical and mental recovery but i eventually got where i am today. I am now studying computer science, am in the happiest relationship of my life, been in therapy for a year now, train for a marathon and life feels amazing. I can't imagine ever going back to that personal hell. I'm proud of you!! Keep on plowing forward :)

Radical self improvement is definitely something that makes you see the world in such a new perspective and your perspective helped me realize this is the best perspective even if it’s just a few who can understand it. I workout at least 5 days a week, I eat clean, spend time outside in nature and I really want to journal, mediate, and read more. This is one of the few channels in the men’s self improvement community that I feel is actually effective. I love how you call out all the bs tactics people try to push and offer real practical solutions. Got me fired up bro. Climbing my way out of a really low point similar to what you had described. I never want to feel that way again. Hardest thing for me at the moment is fully quitting weed. I love smoking a good bowl or 2 at the end of the day when it’s time to just relax but sometimes I feel like maybe I could be more relaxed without it.

I've been in the same place. Weed makes you relaxed at first, but over time it will give you more anxiety. It's what addiction does: you need more and more until you don't really get high anymore. You just get paranoid, overthinking shit. The evenings are the most important part of the day: it's where you process what happened. Also, after smoking weed for years I didn't dream anymore. Shit's not good. All instant gratification is not good.

    • @ES-os7ko
      @ES-os7ko Рік тому

@@lklk8555 Yes, I don't smoke anymore. You will feel restless at first, don't know what to do with your time, but that's the beauty of it. You can do literally anything now, because you dont waste away so much time being high. Sleeping will be harder at first, but it will get better. Stay strong, dont touch that shit for a good 3 months, see what happens. You might surprise yourself.

Was where you described being about 6 month ago, living on my own away from home, working a job that was causing my anxiety to be sky high, smoking weed everyday sunrise to sunset, eating shit & working out maybe 2-3 times per week using all my free time to play video games or go get drunk. I had a total breakdown & moved home… I’ve been trying to sort it but I’ve just replaced shit habits with other shit habits. This video is exactly what I needed to hear. I’ve had a building frustration with myself about how little I’ve been doing. I’ve been living in self pity. Because looks fade, and shit happens, but you can literally always act like what you believe a "good person" is and know you're walking through the world making it a better place. This is AWESOME , best content I've seen on UA-cam in a while! I realized through watching this that I've been unknowingly doing a dopamine detox since December of last year. Your message here totally resonates and confirmed my suspicions about the current modern life style that's considered " normal ".

Thank you for sharing this story. It was incredibly inspiring. I am starting today to focus on doing things that I know will make my future self happy. Starting with baby steps, and focusing on doing things that I know will make me feel good tomorrow, instead of just today. It's amazing how instantly I don't feel overwhelmed by the piles of stuff that have been sitting there for months in my house anymore. I hit the ground right away and started cleaning the clutter and by the end of the day, everything was cleared out and organized. All I thought about was what I could do to make myself feel good tomorrow. Thank you again, Hamza!

I’m 20 minutes in and I just want to say to anyone that is looking to take on this lifestyle change:
Lasting Change is not accomplished in a day, week, or month. It’s usually much longer than that. You didn’t get to where you were overnight so you won’t get out overnight. Before I built a pressure washing business, transferred colleges, and got my dream car, I was a wreck similar to this guy. I kept failing because I was expecting change to happen quicker than it really does. This one quote changed my life:
The man that moves piles of sand moves mountains.
Focus on the small changes everyday and be conscious of it. Take a step in the right direction every day, one that is uncomfortable.
I also want to add that watching this video is very inspiring for me right now because switching schools was the worst decision for me and I did not know it. I was in a great private business school with a full scholarship and decided to transfer to a party school. I wasn’t ready for such an environment and fell back to my old ways. Now it’s time to hustle up again.
Making small changes everyday. I’m happy to say a lot of what this video talks about I have applied and can vouch that it works. But the minute you fall of the horse you can lose a lot of progress, as I have. Broke, frustrated with myself, and overall angry and depressed that I let myself slip off of such a high mountain.
Change is slow always has been, always will be
Rome wasn’t built in a day, but Hiroshima fell in one.
Much love to anyone reading this.

Thank you so much for this video, I appreciate your realness. You have made me realize a lot about myself.
Teen years ago I was at my worst.. I was in an abusive marriage and was drinking hard liquor everyday, smoking weed and some very toxic things. It reached a point where I was crying everyday, having nightmares every night and constantly dizzy. At that point I decided I couldn't live like that anymore and I began meditating, lucid dreaming and writing in a dream journal as well as a regular journal and writing affirmations everyday. I stopped drinking and smoking of course.
Within a few weeks I had a clear head and was happier. I discovered my husband was cheating and left him. After that things improved as I began doing art everyday and yoga for 45 minutes every night and got in the best shape of my life.
What you said about knowing you could slip back into that dark place again resonated with me. I have been taking on some bad habits the past few years. I have an addiction to my phone.. I did quit Facebook mostly, just in occasion but I have the tendency to binge on UA-cam and also I am addicted to sugar. I have my phone on me all day and I am bored to even play toys with my kids. Also I've wanted to lose about 20 pounds for awhile but I keep starting and stopping exercise.
I am absolutely going to take your tips into consideration. I've been trying to improve by learning Spanish in my spare time and listening to audiobooks instead of UA-cam but I want to make bigger changes now.

Great video brother. It really resonated. I’ve been sort of, sort of, on the same journey for the past ~1.5 months. It has not been a complete detox though. I have a goal in mind and have been doing my best to achieve it. I have a lose schedule as well. Basically, I get up at 4am (2 months ago that was my bedtime lol), make my morning coffee and grilled cheese (very easy to make, delicious, and one less thing I have to think about in the morning), do some light stretching as I’m waiting for my breakfast to finish. Take my breakfast to my desk, fire up the computer and just start studying. No bs I have to do this and that to prepare for studying. No, just sit down half asleep and start studying. To keep myself from getting distracted, I downloaded the freedom app and set a schedule where pretty much everything that can be viewed as entertainment or distracting is blocked until 3pm. I know you don’t agree with those blockers, but it worked for me. I have found my desire to even go on these sites while studying to be pretty much zero now and really don’t even think I need it anymore. For the beginning though, it helped tremendously.
As someone, who has never gotten up earlier than 6am 2 days in a row before I started this or started studying first thing in the morning, it’s been a massive eye opener. You get shit done in the morning, it’s crazy, how focused you can be when you start out your day focusing. I take 5 minute breaks every now and then when need be. I’m not a robot. In those small breaks I’ll usually just walk around a bit, look outside or go outside (sounds weird but hey it refreshes me). Come around 10-12 I’m usually pretty tired by this point and hungry so I take about 30min for lunch, then go back and study. Some days I study until 5pm, others I’m done by noon. It depends on what I’m covering and how well I slept. So technically I don’t have a fixed time table. In the first 2 weeks I did study from the morning until around 5pm, but I found myself losing motivation and focus. I also didn’t take a single day off during those 2 weeks and didn’t play video games. It frankly made me miserable and not looking forward to my day. Now, on average I’m usually done with studying at 3pm and then I give the rest of the day to myself. That means I can do whatever I want. It’s my reward for putting in a solid day’s work. I also take the weekends off. Hats off to you for being more strict, I personally find I’m happier with this sort of intensity and it’s at a level I now I can do without worrying about slipping up.
The result of only this past month and a half have been profound. I feel prouder of myself. I’m looking forward to my future and aren’t afraid of it being dark. I only see it as improving and getting better. I have also learned so much. I can do things that I wish I knew how to do just a few months ago. It just feels good knowing I’m heading down the right path in life. I’ve also done journaling which I find very helpful. As Sigmund Freud said, “Being entirely honest with oneself is a good exercise.”
One more thing, I have a trick for getting out of bed even when I don’t want to. My favorite movie is Troy. It has everything. Love, war, humanity, the flaws of humanity, and Achilles. A man in search of immortality and glory. He achieved that goal. Anyway, in the movie when Achilles fights Hector, Hector trips on a rock (ha classic) and falls. Achilles could have killed him then and there, but he doesn’t. Instead he drops his shield and says to Hector “get up prince of Troy, I wont let a stone steal my glory.” In the morning, I think of my bed as that stone. So when I don’t want to get up, I just think to myself, “get up (my name), I won’t let a bed steal my glory”. As dumb as it sound, nothing has worked better for me than that. Another incredible lesson we can all learn from Achilles comes from the scene when they first get on Troy’s shore. Achille’s ship is the first one to make ground. Achilles is the first one off the ship. He gets on that beach and he fights for his glory like a possessed madman. He doesn’t have the patience to wait, he has waited for this moment his entire life. He has trained for this moment his entire life. He does what is necessary and hesitate to do it. He waits for no one. That’s why we still remember him to this day. He just does what is necessary with the highest amount of vigor he possesses. That’s how we need to be if we want to achieve our glory.

    Really great video, dude.
I could mention many points about what you said, but that one insight about not deleting apps and blocking sites, and just accept you have to struggle to build more willpower, made me remember when I was a teenager and studied really hard for an entire year to enter architecture school. I did pass the tests and I'm an architect now, but somewhere down the road I've lost that self control and focus I used to have. Now I'm fighting instant gratification, smoking and cellphone addiction through the last months, without any significant improvement, but this video just gave me the exact advise I was searching to get back on the right track.
1 week dopamine detox today, and counting. Bought some sneakers so I can sign up for gym next monday. Meditating everyday and already feeling way better with myself now.
Thank you so much for sharing this, and congrats for your results.
    Best regards from Brazil.

Very inspiring Hamza. I love the fact that you have transformed your life and maintained this for an entire year. Too often I do hear people doing short term challenges and I've never been moved by that.
I totally agree with you, self love is much deeper that superficial things people refer to. For me, I've applied many changes into my life and I'm much happier. I changed my diet, starting focusing on business plans and I started reading self help books to guide me.
However, I'm eager to take it to the next level, due to a few challenges I have currently been facing.
