I’ve tried a few things Dennis. Even used a thin layer of olive oil. This is by far the easiest and most reliable method but warming it up is worth a go. Sadly you tend to find the detached body has failed at the moment it’s too late to do much about it. Worth the patience though I think.
Could you not split the wing before tying the rest of the fly. Then if it fails you haven’t wasted time and materials. A great fly and will be be attempting some soon. Cheers.
I think it would be rather fiddly but give it a try. If you look around at Wally wings, it’s the way it’s done. But someone always goes first with stuff so let me know how it goes. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

If the body does not want to slip off the needle easily, I believe heating up the needle with a lighter might help. It would liquefy the lip balm.
