It is the finest car ever made by GM for the purpose of track days. A ZL1/1LE would keep lapping Corvettes while they go through heat soak. As someone who previously owned a C7 Z06, the ZL1/1LE is the most confidence inspiring car you can buy from GM. All you need to do is swap the stock tires out for a Michelin PS4S (street tire) for fun on the street + back roads. Save the stock tires for track days. The stock tires are the GY3R tires that take 3 heat cycles before they grip. They also have very stiff sidewalls which doesn't help on the street.

The 1LE is a nice car but the suspension is way too stiff I would much rather the ZL1 it has the same power, smoother ride and it cost less to buy. Here in Australia it's a whopping 160k for a zl1 and a 1LE is 180k
I went to my local chevy dealer to look at one and planned on buying one but the sales guy told it is only ment for the track only only and I can not drive it on the street and have to have a tow truck to take it home. Trying to find out more information.

Is it truly beyond livable as a DD? Or can an enthusiast and occasional track day driver come to love it?
I could live with it daily especially if track use was frequent. It is stiffer than any other road legal car I've driven but to an extent, that's how I like sports cars to ride.
@@HorsePowerObsessed fair enough! Great question @horsepowerobsessed
I'm not really sure that harsh is the best way to describe this. The ZR1 in track mode still soaks up bumps to some degree. This ZL1 1LE almost doesn't feel like it has any shock absorbers. It is without a doubt the most jarring car I've ever driven but at the same time will probably out handle 99.9% of the cars out there. If it didn't weigh as much as it does I would say it would out handle my ZR1.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Thank you for the Informative answer!
The 1LE is a nice car but the suspension is way too stiff I would much rather the ZL1 it has the same power, smoother ride and it cost less to buy. Here in Australia it's a whopping 160k for a zl1 and a 1LE is 180k
I almost bought a 6th gen ZL1 before I got my ZR1. The ZL1 1LE is definitely a little too stiff for every day driving.
Dang that's a load a cash!
The test drive was well over 2 or 3 miles.
I went to my local chevy dealer to look at one and planned on buying one but the sales guy told it is only ment for the track only only and I can not drive it on the street and have to have a tow truck to take it home. Trying to find out more information.
That's not completely true. You can drive it wherever you want. With that said, the ride is on the rougher side so you may not WANT to drive it on regular roads but that is totally up to you.
Maybe if change the tires it will help alittle with the suspension. That's if you want to daily drive it.
Maybe a little, but the stiffness comes from the shocks/struts for the most part.
Good blue color
Awesome review! Stunning color too 🤩
Thanks buddy!
It sounds great too!
Yes it does! When you get a stock car that sounds good, it's a win/win!
I only have a regular ZL1 😂 great content!!!
Thanks! 👍 Nothing wrong with the ZL1, either! I used to have a 5th gen ZL1. Was an awesome car!
@@HorsePowerObsessed yes brother! Got it late last year and living in nj haven't had a chance to get experience much of it. Keep up the content and God bless!
Thank you! Awesome car, man!
I luvd my "regular " ZL1. My poor mans Z06!
I'm a bit worried - I just put an order in for a 2022 ZL1 1LE, fully aware the suspension will be taught, but you mentioned how stiff it was almost every 10 seconds during your test drive, even though you said, "I don't know if I'd complain." Is it truly beyond livable as a DD? Or can an enthusiast and occasional track day driver come to love it?
I could live with it daily especially if track use was frequent. It is stiffer than any other road legal car I've driven but to an extent, that's how I like sports cars to ride.
@@HorsePowerObsessed fair enough! I owned a C6 Z06, which during its day was considered extremely stiff as well (Jeremy Clarkson made no secret of that) and it was pre-adjustable driving mode back then too -- meaning, one mode only: race. So, hoping that because that was fine for me, and as an enthusiasts and #becauseracecar, I can live with the ZL1 1LE!
Manual💪🏻🙌🏻
THE reason why this is a fantastic purchase!
Can you buy suspension thats not so rough for daily driving?
You could get the normal ZL1 that has a more adjustable suspension.
@@HorsePowerObsessed ahh ok 👌
This is what I need in my life.. I’m currently driving a Subaru Forester... like WTF happened to my life? Lol
lol this genuinely made me laugh. 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, though, the Forester is a pretty good car.
You got married
What happened was you don't make enough money to afford this car
My boy just bought a WRX STI ! Monster Subaru! Drive one of those turbo 6 speeds on S# and hang on it will slam you back in your seat and is an E ticket ride.
Honestly, this car offers a lot for the price. Not to mention it s possible to get it with a MANUAL!!!! The gt500 is around 100 k,far more expensive, the redeye is probably faster in a straight line but eats dust on track. For 70 k i don t think you can get a faster better looking car. I m not a great fan of the overall interior though.
Agreed!
So that one has a millenial anti theft device? I didn't think you could even get manual transmissions anymore.
Perfect car just as it sits . I have the previous model and I would like to have both models sitting side by side ... The one thing I think Gzm should didn't to separate this car from the regular zl1 is they should've given it the ZR1 MOTOR AND PAINTED THE FLOW TOE COLOR MATCHED ...
Thanks for the review and thanks for not being the one brand car guy!
Absolutely! I am a car guy, not a Corvette guy. Cool cars are cool cars. With that said, a lot of the cool cars (in my price range) are Corvettes nowadays lol
Great Vid & Review....JB
Thanks!
She's beautiful! Did you help sell it?
Yes I did. It actually sold the following day to me putting the video up.
so if I jus get the regular zl1 would I b able to daily drive it?
Yes. The mag ride suspension is much more forgiving.
The front facia looks way way better than the SS.
Agreed.
I love camaro so much ❤🖤🖤❤🖤🖤❤🖤❤❤
Loved the review. It is a very mean looking car and it's great to hear your thoughts of it over the road.
Thanks, Pat! Apparently this car sold the day after I made this video live because of the video! Now that's awesome!
@@HorsePowerObsessed Wow! I have a feeling you're going to be given a lot more access to cool cars at Klick Lewis! 🤣 They're about 1.5 hours from me.
Oh yeah. Something big coming soon! Stay tuned!
I like it except for that big ass spoiler in the rear. I’d change it to a Wickerbill spoiler
I love the ZL1 1LE
Same!
If I had the option of a zl1 1le and a c7 z06, should I choose this or the z?
C7 Z06. Assuming the price is the same.
To many C7Z’s out there right now,,, this is more rare and desirable. Especially as time goes on. Production will come to an end this January.
I’m deciding between this car or a 2021 C8 ?
The biggest difference is going to be whether or not you want a manual transmission.
@@HorsePowerObsessed I need automatic
@@HorsePowerObsessed Do they come in automatic ?
well how stiff is it?
Quite stiff. On a scale of 1 to 10. It's a 9.5.
@@HorsePowerObsessed that's why it's blue just like the pill... lol 😂
@@michaelm398 🤣
Brooo you gottaa review the cts V too then if you love that engine homiee 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Agreed! I'll get behind the wheel of one some day!
Why doesy boost gauge range -100-100???
Its down some power in reference to the mustang gt500 but still out hustles it in the 8th mile on unprepared pavement.
