While my play style doesn’t really suit ice climbers, I think it would be amazing for some new player to innovate. That character is the most untapped out of all the top tiers. I think they could be top 5 in the game if they try hard enough
The thing is that even with wobbling the IC weren't top tier, you still need to protect nana, and depend of a poorly progamed AI to achieve success. And for most players its not fun honestly
I wish that the community hadn't banned it outright. What I think would have been better is if they had limited wobbling to one stock per game. In this way it acts as a sort of comeback mechanic and the opponent doesn't have to worry if the icies player has already wobbled them once.
@Ad-000 I promise you guys that finding out about and watching up and coming players instead of just watching the popular players you've known about for years will make the tournament watching and normal melee experience a lot more fun
Honestly the icies still have a banger punish game even outside of wobbling and infinites from grabs It’s just harder to execute and way less intuitive than most characters. This makes Icies super weird to use and practice since they have so many hidden techniques. Add the fact that icies have been seen as the “wobbling” character for so long and a lot of people just can’t notice how much potential they have with desyncs and grab shenanigans outside of wobbling. I thought it’d be interesting to code into the game for IC for wobbling animation to be skipped so like a grab with nana at desync close enough would just do 999% dmg, bc I think for people the annoying part of wobbling was the waiting.

It's because people don't like it, and if viewership and attendance goes down enough it takes a lot out of revenue. Plus it's a very low risk-high reward infinite.
Icies didnt win much at top level, but mid level was swamped with wobblers. The skill required to outspace wobbling is much higher than the skill to wobble, and too many cheap icies can kill a scene

Finding a harder wobbling is kind of absurd, and to me it's still not very interesting, it's not supposed to be a rythm game where all you have to do is pressing buttons in a definite order. I mean, what's the point with that?

Perhaps for nontop 100 players at locals they were, but on the big stage they were hardly a real threat, banning wobbling has obliterated them. They were also fun to watch because a GOOD icies player was unbelievably sick and creative, and its fun to watch how top players beat bad icies players. Its like watching an expert martial artist beat someone with a handgun.

If anything permitting wobbling at top level proves melees STRENGTH as a competitive game, that you can have a character with an infinite combo that is still not near top level.
