Hey y’all! I do know that ‘What Have You Done For Me Lately’ is originally a Janet song. I never thought otherwise; I was just mentioning that I’d never heard the original and only the version in Sister Act 2. I guess I just said it weird. Anyway, thanks for all of the love on this video! 😊🙏🏾🎶
You prolly dont care but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Kingston Colby I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is different than the Album version, she decided to do something extra for the Awards Show and the video for this is awesome too. I LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE !!!
Good Morning Glad to see you honoring MIss Janet. What Have You Done For Me Lately was the lead single from Janet's Control album which hit #1 on the Soul & R&B Charts and # 4 on the Pop Charts. Nasty was her 2nd # 1 R&B Hit. Janet had co-wrote and produced those singles
Cool to see the younger generation get hip to what we already know. I was 7 in 1987. Everything was in perfect synchopation: the band, dancers even the lights.
Prince wrote What Have You Done For Me Lately. He gave the song to Jam & Lewis years before & they used it for Janet. They were both in The Time but got fired at the end of the tour by Prince because they missed a concert by being in another city producing another group when they were just starting out (got snowed in). Prince knew the Jackson family waaay back.
@@LG-kx8xl Hi L G, I just want to respectfully say that I think you may be mistaken. This was definitely written by Jimmy & Terry. I know Prince covered it a couple of times at gigs but he didn't write it. Peace
This is Janets 2nd Iconic performance after the American Music Awards that year where she killllllled her performance. She was really feeling herself and came to the Grammys snatched and feeeeeeeeeeelin herself. This performance was jaw dropping and unforgettable. As kids we were alllll maddddddd when she lost album of the year to Bonnie Raitt. 😶😶😶
She lost to Paul Simon & Garfunkal ..The Grammys was hating back then to in the most popular Album, with the most hits that year and Top Artist ..Queen Janet Jackson!!
FYI The person that taught all of them including Janet these dance steps was Paula Abdul. Yes the same Paula who was a judge on American Idol. Paula even appears on the official music video What Have You Done For Me Lately and is seen talking to Janet at the beginning of the video and then dancing next to Janet through the video. Paula is a low key beast dancing.
Yes agree, this arrangement was definitely for the Grammys and yes she killed it....seeing it again the style is very reminiscent of Prince and James Brown too! Still love all versions- live, studio and single versions. Wish she comes back to slay us again, glad to see the super bowl is finally behind her... and yes Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were right there on the stage too, another iconic performance for the history books.
YYYYEEEAAAHHHHHH!!!! THEY KKKKIIIIILLLLLLLLLEEEDDDD!!!!! There are NO performers in this league these days!!! It would be a miracle if we EVER saw their like ever again!!!!
Paula choreographed the first three singles off Control. All other videos/performances were choreographed by others, including Barry Lather and Anthony Thomas (1989's Rhythm Nation 1814).
Like i said in a previous comment..You Havent seen Sh*t ..Young Millennial..Thanks for reacting i just Subcribed for doing my girl...THE QUEEN !JANET JACKSON!!!
Rhythm Nation 1814 will blow your mind. First album to spawn 7 Top 5 singles, first album ever to spawn a number 1 in three consecutive years:1989, 1990 and 1991 across two different decades. Rhythm Nation World Tour ran nine months and largest debut tour ever by a female solo artist, selling out Tokyo Dome in seven minutes. She's also only one of four artists with number one albums in four consecutive decades: 80s, 90s, 00 and 010s.
I Believe it’s from 1990. She actually won an Emmy for that opening. At the time Paula brought dance to the forefront and even today it looks like an amazing Performance.
This WAS NOT choreographed by Paula. It was choreographed by Barry Lather, the guys next to her with the big hair. He also choreographed her 87 American music award performance and the Pleasure Principle video.

Janet is the originator of What Have You Done For Me Lately. They just covered it in Sister Act 2.
Haha yes I know it’s Janet’s song. I said it wrong in the video. 😅

She killed that performance..that was the one. New subscriber...love your love for music.
Thank you!! I’ve always loved music and starting this channel has made me love it even more. Also, welcome to the channel; hope you enjoy!! 😊
Jimmy and Terry produced nearly all of Janet's work. They were the two brothers dancing beside her in the beginning.
The ones playing the instruments?

This performamce was all we talked about the next day in school. I was in the 10th grade. She was jammin.
Janet's still killing it. Check out some of her live performances from the last couple of years.
One of the best Grammy performance ever!!
One of her best performances also include IF from her Velvet Rope Tour in 1998, she was on fire that night
I saw that performance when it aired in 87 and I got chills then, I still get chills watching it till this day.
Absolutely amazing performance. Great video thanks.
Her MTV Icon All For You performance was really good. That kicked of her last big era before the Superbowl happened.
I’ve got that one on my Janet list!
What Have You Done For Me Lately is Janet’s song. They were covering it for Sister Act II.
Haha yea I know. I just meant I’d never heard the original only the version in the movie.

I think Paul Abdul choreographed most of her 80s videos and performances.
