"When you're old, all you want to do is stare at the scenery. It's so strange. I've never felt so peaceful before." After seeing your photoshoot, I finally understood how Sophie Hatter felt. Anyway... thanks for your upload. Your positive energy from the montage of your craftsmanship gives me inner peace during these times.
I feel like Sophie is one of the easiest characters to do a “historically accurate” cosplay of because of the silhouette of the dress and i think because of how simple her outfit is having all of the subtle details of a historical costume would add to her outfit but not in a way that undermines her character.
It is constantly heartbreaking just how much embellishments cost, absolutely. (edit now that I’m at the end of the video): the additions look absolutely lovely and the spot you did the outro is super cute and fitting 💜
I love all the upgrades! Lace and trim make such a huge difference on cosplay and lolita outfits. Sometimes to save money, I will make my own ruffle out of chiffon instead of buying lace which works well but is a bit tedious. Honestly though, I really like the wig! I think the short bangs with your eyebrows grayed looks super cute, and the fluffiness from the curling attempt giving it volume is great. Huge improvement, loved the video, can't wait for the next one.
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and it's a relief to hear that you liked the wig! 🥰🙏🏻 Would definitely like to make more videos like this in the future.
Honestly I loved the wig and every part of the cosplay also I love this video concept I would really like to see more. Overall it was a great video and I think that the change made it look soooo much more interesting.
I love how the changes turned out! The lace on the bottom of the dress makes such a huge impact. Also just a note: heat actually relaxes wig fibers, so I think the reason your curling iron “doesn’t work” is because if you keep wig fibers on a constant heat source, they won’t form the shape you want. You have to heat the fibers and then let them cool in the shape you want, like you did by curling them around your fingers. The good news is this means wigs are super easy to straighten out!
You did a great job. The blue of this outfit really fit you. I am not familiar with the character this cosplay is meant to be, but it was still a very good video and I hope to see you modify more pre-made cosplays in the future. You're awesome, sweet and funny. Thanks from Lord JS, the samurai of music.
Wow! The differences really make it pop! I love the new textured wig too honestly yeah it looks windswept but I think it looks good. Well worth the sixty bucks!
The little accents REALLY make a difference. We might not notice it as creators/builders but the audiences can see it. For the wig, I just took it as the scenes when Sophie's been traveling through time portals. Give the girl a break, her hair can be a little messy after all that excitement 😜 Awesome refreshed cosplay!
The alterations you made are so cute and look really nice. My cosplays are bought and sometimes pieced together and other than a time or two where I made a few changes for genderbending purposes, I never really gave much thought to altering cosplays to reflect my own personal touch/style, but now that is something I will try to remember as an option. Also, I loved the tip you gave for curling the wig. I don't know if it was an issue with my curler, my lack of experience with curling hair or both, but when I tried to curl a wig in the past it was a no go. Now maybe I won't have that issue anymore.
Oh wow, this video is really perfectly timed. I just started working on my Sophie Hatter Cosplay and was thinking about how I could make her dress a little more unique :3 Kinda funny tho xD Loved that Video
I always thought my Sophie cosplay looked a bit plain in a way but after watching this I knew what to do and was inspired. Thank you so much for these ideas, my cosplay looks so much better even if I did add a few little things to it :D feels like a whole new outfit
This reminds me of an Eevee dress I made with a white lace trim at the bottom, it was a random last minute choice but it looked a bit lolita styled & I loved it.
I just love how you get all crafty. You are very creative, and you don’t give yourself enough credit, seriously. You are AMAZING, I love you, and so does everyone else. You are sooooo loveable, and smart, and, just everything about you is amazing. I hope you have a great day 😀
I honestly love the wig. I think adding texture is the right call, if you wanted something more uniform than the curls though you could always try some soft beach waves and see if that achieves the look you were going for.
Oh!! So it’s probably not your curling iron!! Since wigs are just plastic, they need to cool in the shape you want them. You’ve got the right idea with wrapping them around your finger. But! An easier option may be to let the curl fall from the iron into your hand in a coil, and then use straight pins and pin them up on the wig again. I do it all the time and it’s soooo much easier. Hope this helps!!🥰
Watching you hand sew is so calming! The changes you made are so beautiful too - I'm super passionate about character design so I love seeing cosplayers add their own personal touches to costumes :)
I'm not a cosplayer, but would like to start, and just wanted to say I really enjoyed this video, and these kinds of videos in general, because I love seeing the process and work that goes into a craft of someone who's been doing it for a long time. so thanks for sharing! I hope you'll do more of these types in the future!
That's amazing and so magical ✨ it's kinda funny 'cause I did the same with my Howl jacket, added a lot of golden lace, pearls and feathers; so I totally know how it feels to add your personal touch to a costume you love ❤️
I love the update!! Especially the lace :DD regardless of your regrets I think the wig looks pretty decent? maybe you can try straightening it :) but I think it looks a lot better on that on the mannequin
Aww no way, I'm so glad you enjoyed it that much! 🥰💕💕💕 I guess because it's a cheap hair curler, it doesn't actually get that hot, just hot enough to curl the fibers, so the heat is definitely bearable! Either that or the fact that I work in a coffee shop, so I'm used to the heat, haha! 😂
Do you have any advice on how I can properly cut a wig? I wanna cosplay midoriya (a.k.a deku) from my hero academia but I don't know how to cut my wig.
having inherited an old sewing box of notions from the 70s its really sad hearing lace and all that costs $60 now when back then that much would probably cost 10 or something i have so many packs of lace and bias tape and all that stamped with 25¢ stickers for whole yards.. stuff is so expensiveeee.....

That means so much hearing that, thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. 🙏🏻💕
Modifying a pre-made cosplay is really rewarding. I’ve done it before on one of mine.
I love seeing my improvements to cosplays

Have you seen Sewstine's casual historical-inspired Sophie, btw?

This was enjoyable to watch and I wouldn't mind seeing something like this again.
Not sure if it's great for your wallet though.
I would totally like to make more videos like this! But yes, I'd definitely have to pace myself for the sake of budgeting. 😣💸
I would add a bit of the smaller lace to the neck and sleeves to visually connect the top and bottom of the dress.
This would be super cute!
I thought about doing that, but I feared putting lace there would make the cosplay uncomfortable to wear.
I actually love the wig and you did so much better then last time cosplaying her

I adore how the transformation turned out! It does feel a lot more personal!
The upgraded cosplay looks awsome, i didn't even realise that adding little details to it can change the overall look so much. 😍

This dropped just in time to keep me company for some seamripping~ I love how it turned out!
It looks so much better! Less flat.
I need to do the lace and stuff to a cosplay apron from a belle cosplay I have. Super cute.
I love that the trim and Lace at the bottom of the apron made it look more wavy and pleated and not as flat. Also I LOVE YOUR MUSHROOM PANTS
Wow! The differences really make it pop! I love the new textured wig too honestly yeah it looks windswept but I think it looks good. Well worth the sixty bucks!
$63 well spent. Another awesome cosplay video. Thank you Anya. Keep 'em coming xx

Such a fun video! I did very similar things to my Belle village cosplay recently and LOVE it! Lace is great for everything lol
Agreed, lace makes everything better haha!

NICE X4 COMBO!

I love all the lace!💛 The frills make it so pretty.
This was awesome. Would love to see you do this to some other older costumes if you wanted!

I thought the shoot and video footage of the cosplay was amazing. When it was all put together it looked great.
I love the update!! Especially the lace :DD regardless of your regrets I think the wig looks pretty decent? maybe you can try straightening it :) but I think it looks a lot better on that on the mannequin
So glad you enjoyed it! I'll definitely try straightening the wig next time, hopefully I'll like that better.
I love the changes you made! And you look so much more confident in the cosplay with them.

Also great cosplay!
The upside down lace at the start look like a row of little ghost faces
Where did you get your wig?
I don't remember the store, sorry. :(
I love your video
This is so cool I'd love to do that but guess who gained weight and Cant fit into most of their old cosplays 💀
