    Dear Dr Joe I just had my facelift three days ago with a general anesthesia. I am Swiss and I had this procedure in Switzerland. Let me tell you how your excellent videos help me to learn a lot about facelift. All is very well explained.Many thanks to share your knowledge through all these videos. I made a facelift with lipofiller and I am a woman of 55 years old. My general anesthesia went perfectly.

    This video made me feel better. My neck lift and lower facelift is scheduled for December 22… so 2 1/2 weeks away! I was nervous about it being under general anesthesia because I’ve watched other plastic surgeon’s videos where they say local or IV is much more safe. But like you, my surgeon emphasized that my airway would be protected (I have sleep apnea). So thank you for this video because it reinforced my confidence. I’m just so excited to get my jawline back… 💚

    Thank you so much for this video. I just had my surgery with Dr. Joe three days ago and the anesthesiologist was so nice and reassuring. I have had GA a few times and ended up with extensive pain and bruising at the needle site, there's not even a hint of a bruise from my recent surgery. I also had none of the godawful nausea I've had in the past. In fact I had none whatsoever.

    I’m scheduled for a Face, neck and brow lift in January in Vancouver.
    I found a great qualified (natural results) Surgeon from my research I did using your
    “what to look for in a Surgeon” videos. Thank you. (I mentioned you in the consult and he lit up and mentioned that he met you at a conference)
    He offers both IV Sedation or General anesthetic for his patients. I chose the former, however after listening to this I think I should change it to General as I do get very anxious and my heart races even getting lip injections.
    I’m so glad you do these videos.
    Hugs from Vancouver Island 🇨🇦😊

    Now I’m concerned. I’m speaking with a very busy, well know dr in NJ who has privileges in a nearby hospital. He only does local w pain meds. I spoke to one of his recent patients and she said she had no pain and in fact slept through most of it. His office is not an accredited surgery center. I do like him and he takes his time w patients (didn’t charge for FaceTime consult) and was very thorough, responsive and friendly. Saw lots of photos. I’m so confused! 😩

      He is probably very good. You can't judge all people by single factors. If he does safe surgery with natural outcomes, he sounds good.

    I know what you're saying is all true, but I had a bad experience with general anesthesia once, so I would not have undergone a facelift if that had been the condition. The doctor who did my mini facelift normally uses general, but did offer local with IV sedation. It was a wonderful experience.
    I have low blood pressure. This was actually the problem during my bad experience. It dropped to dangerously low levels, so much that the nurses couldn't hide their worry. Never again unless there's no other option to save my life.
    But you're right, apparently I moved and talked too much during the first side of my facelift, so they put more anesthetic for the other side, lol.

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  4 місяці тому

      What ever the surgeon and patient decide on is the best way. Some people have had problems with general anesthesia but I see patients who had big problems with local anesthesia and IV, such as waking up, feeling pain, and having to listen to the surgery and staff. Again, everyone is different so there are options out there.

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  4 роки тому +1

      It may not take 3x longer but generally much longer as there are many differences operating on a patient that is totally asleep that one who is awake. My patients don't use the bathroom, my surgeries are never longer that 3-4 hours and they are asleep. Thanks for watching

      Actually, the nurses in my case were supposed to wash my hair the day after. I thought they would have some kind of special sink, so I was totally unprepared for getting naked in the bathtub in front of them. I'm still a bit haunted by that experience, so a catheter, NO thank you.

      @@dammar117 anytime they put you to sleep, you get a catheter whether you know it or not. and, it's not a lot of probing really. just a few swipes to clean and then insert the catheter. and, yes, they should've explained how they would wash your hair so you would've been prepared but you could've kept your bra and undies on but you weren't thinking. sorry that still haunts you but as a nurse myself, we don't even see your nakedness. They too should've offered you another way since they weren't giving you a bath so I can only imagine how you feel. hopefully, you'll laugh at it one day. hope your face looks amazing!!!

    Hello Dr.! Your videos are fantastic!! Thank you. I have a couple of questions. I am scheduled for this surgery in two days.... Well less than that now! I am losing it about going under anesthesia. I've done both iv sedation and general before and took both well but for some reason I am having horrible feelings about this one. Maybe it's because it's such a big deal! I hope it's not a horrible premonition:( It's with a very experienced and good anesthesiologist.
    I know my surgeon would prefer general for the exact reasons you are saying but I've so far been adament about doing iv sedation. He has agreed but I had to sign something saying that if general is needed during the surgery I would allow it. Which of course I would. The reason being is that my breathing may slow too much or stop and they would have to switch me over. How common is this and is it dangerous? I am assuming general from the start is less risky?
    Another question based on your other videos about facelifts. I am 38 and did the laser assisted necklift which just left me looking terrible with neck banding and loose skin. I have amazing skin to begin with, so this was very sad for me. My incisions will go from the top of the ear, in behind the tragus and behind the ear. Also the incision under the chin for the corset platysmaplasty. I asked if the incision out the back would be needed and my surgeon said no. Is this standard for someone as young as I or should I insist this be done for better tightning? What about the one in the hairline in front of the ear?
    Thank you and I am looking forward to your answers. My surgery is on Thursday and it's Tuesday night so I probably won't hear until after but am giving this a shot. Thanks again for your videos..... A lot to think about!

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  5 років тому +4

      I am sure you will do fine, I have done probably 50,000 general anesthetics without a problem. Sure you are in good hands. They know what to do. You are getting a minilift, if you have a lot of neck skin, usually you need the posterior incision, if it is mostly jowl with a little neck skin, probably fine.

    • @CatherineHoustonJackson
      @CatherineHoustonJackson 5 років тому

      @@jniamtuiii oh wow that does make me feel better! Can't decide if I should switch it to general. Decisions! Are minilifts generally for a younger age? I'll let him know I'm open to the bigger scar one.... If it gives better results.... Thank you for your reply!!

    Good morning doctor, I have a question: during the years we've heard so many things about Michael Jacskon's appearence, one of them is that the reason of his hollow cheeks is cheek implants. So my question is the following: if someone wanted Michael Jacskon's hollow cheeks, would cheek implants be enough to get to that result? Or it is just a matter of face fat? Thank you

    • @jniamtuiii

      Thanks. Cheek implants really don't produce hollow cheeks, but can define the area, buccal fat is more for reducing volume.
