    In the beginning being like:
    “OK three harmonies is cool”
    “woah fourth harmony! man that’s high”
    “ok this is unfair why can’t I effortlessly hit high D’s”

    • @kadlar96
      @kadlar96 5 років тому +31

      you're probably trying too hard. A lot of people push the mouthpiece into their embouchure for high notes which is counter productive. If you are having trouble playing the high D specifically; play up to it from an octave down with lot's of warm up in pedal tones, try to play up to a high e flat and eventually it will be easy to hit that high D first try.

    • @invictus2530
      @invictus2530 5 років тому +8

      I would recommend working your way up to high d using scales and long tones. Or just classic, go in one position and see how high you can go!

      Idk if it's the same for trombone but on my baritone what I did was just try to aim to hit high f and when I did that I couldn't hit high D but I spent all summer just learning how to learn the valves and all that cause I switched from trombone to baritone and it didn't take long to learn the valves and when I learned the valves I just started to try to hit high notes I'm still slipping on them if I'm not warmed up but I can hit them if I'm not warmed up sometimes but just set a goal and work to it for a while and practice

    Dear Christopher,
    Today you have inspired me to become a performance major at Western Michigan University, I have been watching your videoes since I was in the 6th grade now im a senior. For 6 years I have been working my tail off to improve my ability at playing the trombone. So thank you so much for inspiring me to continue playing the instrument I love the best overall the best instrument. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your career

      My mom was a performance major for flute, she was very good but eventually times changed and life took some turns, kids and stuff and her degree is useless cuz she’s a pre-k teacher, I want her to use her degree but there are barely any jobs with high enough pay to support her current lifestyle, there’s also the problem that not every pay is a stable income which means that every month you can’t be sure you can pay the bills, I don’t mean to discourage you from your dream but, you can perform music without a performance degree, I’d go for a higher qualification of a degree, I’m not sure of names but there are director degrees where your still qualified to perform and there are a lot more positions you can take, band directors are needed everywhere, etc. best of the luck to you, take my advice well

    As I feel with most of your arrangements, this trombone cover actually surpasses the original in an astonishing number of areas. The way the first harmony sounds a bit sour, but gradually transcends into a sweet, transcendent layer as the other harmonies are layered over sends chills down my spine, and the LONG buildup as you introduce all five harmonies and the two bass lines just makes the way the melody comes in all the more powerful. And the way you play it, too, the movement of your slide seems effortless, it just seems like you can't hit a wrong note, and the solo sounds like it could've been a part of the actual song. And can I mention the fact that I don't actually like the original very much at all?
    As an aspiring trombonist myself, I am absolutely amazed by every part of this piece. You possess an interstellar amount of talent at the Trombone, my friend.
