I’ve noticed a lot of UA-camrs tend to use Nintendo music in their videos; it’s generally because video game music doesn’t get ruthlessly blocked quite like some other copyrighted music, and there’s a lot of variety in Nintendo’s catalog. Some other ones I tend to see a lot is Icicle Mountain from Smash Bros Melee, and Beach from Plok.

You should totally make more content like this. Creating a song right after explaining all of the elements of an existing song is really enlightening and I'd like to see more of that.

Speaking of trends, the Wii Party Main Menu theme (0:50) and E. Gadd's theme from Luigi's Mansion (4:43) also seem to be getting really popular among UA-camrs. Yeah. Back in the late 2000s you were able to get away with pretty much 1 to 2 minutes worth of copyrighted music on some YTPs, then it shrunk down to 1 minutes, then 30 seconds, and nowadays it takes 5 to 10 seconds for it to notice which one you have made. What I would later find out is that if you pitch it up just enough to make it sound a different key without changing the whole song or looping only one part of the song to extend it for an hour, the detection software took an entire year to find out it was taken from Burnett and Lady from Thomas And The Magic Railroad in 2000. But I do think nowadays, I think people just need to listen to soundtracks like MECC's Oregon Trail II and realize that game has about the same ambiance as Animal Crossing if you ask me.

Can't quite find the exact name of it, but the music genre origins the song is based on is from France. (It's like the Paris cafe music thing, but it does have ties to the Polka and Waltz so that interpretation isn't far off at all.) The instrumentation is a strong indicator of where the influence is from on top of that beat you already pointed out.

Nintendo does put their songs in the content id system but they are automatically unflaged/ flagged as revenue share, if there is voiceover due to the popularity of let'splays One of the big problems with using public domain songs is that no one actually has the rights to claim the song so "copyright sharks" will put the song into UA-cam's id system and claim the revenue on any UA-cam video that uses public domain stuff. With no one actually holding the rights to the song there aren't any legal consequences for this and UA-cam's recorse when they realize this is too just remove it from the id system, only for a different shark to add.
What I want to know is why so many people use "Home - Decay, Odyssey, etc..." I discovered the music of Home via "Simpsons Wave" and genuinely listen to his music unironically. It's weird and kinda nice to hear them used in the background of so many youtube videos.

In my opinion, the one thing you could get away with is creating what I call "Looped Mixes" which you would create 4 beat looped versions for certain songs, and then build upon your own french house track, or even your own pippy poppy type of song using the synthesizer to create an instrument.

That 4 beat polka rhythm if very similar to the bass side of many stride style/ragtime piano. Scott Joplin uses it a fair bit in the song Maple Leaf Rag.
I feel like it's less like a 4 beat Polka and more like a 4 beat walz - Oom-pah-pah ba-dOom-pah-pah ba-dOom-pah-pah - the presence of an Oom-pah-pah gives it a similar rise and fall to a walz, at least that's what my body feels
The really fun thing about Nintendo is they put some quite high level composers on music duties, but those composers also must make things sound appealing to children, and arguably educational, so adults with music chops of their own are forever flabbergasted by all the stuff going on under the hood of something that sounds very simple.
I recognize it because Animal Crossing Wild World (the original DS version of City Folk) is my favorite DS game (mostly because of nostalgia) and was also the first Animal Crossing game I played. I'm glad that the version of the Able Sisters theme that I grew up with is the most popular version.
I think it has to do with the specific editors. If you look up Wheatskins, he's the same editor for a lot of these UA-camrs. I think he was just a fan of Nintendo games and their music and used it a lot in videos and it caught on because of the high profile of the UA-camrs he edited for.
