    For me it is fairly simple. If a console isn't supported anymore we should be free to emulate it as we please. I can understand Nintendo being upset for Switch emulators, but since the Gamecube/Wii/Wii U etc. aren't supported anymore, I don't see a reason for them to be upset that those consoles are emulated. They might make the argument that for the N64/SNES/NES you can have their official emulations via NSO, but their libraries are limited compared to the games that were released for the consoles at the time. Same goes for GB/GBA/DS.

      That’s my thing. If they just put the games up for purchase or on NSO people would eat them up! Old games normally always find a second wind. Pokemon always gets different nuzlockes and all that!

      @@KLOonair Even if they were put up on NSO I'd still emulate them, mod support will forever trump anything Nintendo does officially.

      This! And honestly if Nintendo REAAAAALLY wanted to, I know, I KNOW they could offer digital copies legally (that would be yours to keep and use and emulate. Absolutely no stupid library accounts. That is a no go) and make some money that way. But no way in hell do they wanna do that and I dont get it.

    I got recommended this video too and didn't notice how small your channel was until you told us!
    The quality of this video alone is proof that you are as good as, or better than literally any other big gaming channel.
    I'd imagine if you keep this format up in the next few years your channel will blow up massively.
    Love the vid bro 😎

    Just a reminder that the same people making your favorite games with all their passion are not the same people on the legal team. Those are the ones you should be mad at.

    Where in the HECK are the legacy pokémon games on NSO?! If they want people emulating on Switch instead of PC, then at the very least they could put the most obvious games they are holding out on us on their platform!

      I still can’t believe it’s not not on the switch. We got Pokemon stadium and snap on there before the mainline….CRAZY!!

    I think a big part of the issue and why there is such a divide here is because there is no fair use law in Japan, at least not anywhere close to what we have here. I also think, Nintendo has been going against emulation since it first became a thing in the 90s. As stated, emulation is extremely important for game preservation, future developers need access to the history of gaming to draw inspiration from and the learn the lessons of the past. I don't care what a persons argument against emulation may be, the simple fact of the matter is that 90% of the games for older systems are not available digitally, and buying from resellers is meaningless in terms of supporting developers because it doesn't. A game dev shouldn't have to shell out hundreds of dollars to try a single SNES game when they are looking for inspiration or possible pitfalls of a certain genre. In my view the emulation debate really has nothing to do with whether you think it's immoral to do it, it really has everything to do with the fact that games need to be preserved the same way we preserve literature or movies, Imagien if an author couldn't go back and read Lord of the Rings for example. I will happily pay for Switch Online, but, as a game dev myself for the last decade, I choose to emulate those games instead because I don't enjoy the way Nintendo presents them and the limited options their emulator has available. I want to have access to obscure games and games stuck in licensing hell so I can make informed decisions and concepts for a game I'm working on.

      Couldn’t have said it any better. It’s just crazy to me to think there are clearly people who would pay for these games yet they don’t wanna release them. Either on NSO or as a stand alone game releas

    If Nintendo doesn't want to deal with emulation they should just bring back virtual console and put these old game on THE DAMN E-SHOP. And I think emulation should be alowed if you own the game that you're emulating

    It's simple. They are protecting their IP and Licenses. The emulators rip on their code and are used to illegally play their content. Simple concept and they are within their legal right.

    • @jibodagrey6500
      @jibodagrey6500 День тому

      that is entirely inaccurate. most emulators do not "rip" on anyone's "code", at least not the ones that have been the target of attacks recently. it is possible to use emulators legally, of course yall corporate dick riders will never acknowledge that because you are desperate to deny that reality, so using this "tool" argument could be extrapolated to literally almost anything.
