Windows 10 Stuck On Black Screen - Before Login - Easy Fix

- If Windows 10 is stuck on Black Screen before login wither on a desktop pc or laptop, this is usually an issue with either the drive or windows startup problems or a combination of both. In this example, the laptop turns on, the Toshiba logo comes on, next Windows 10 logo appears with the spinning round dots then the screen goes black. Afterwards the laptop will just not boot up onto the Windows desktop screen, being stuck on a black screen. This is a typical scenario, and the fix is rather simple and will also work for a desktop PC.
This is a Toshiba Satellite L775-18E. It has an Intel Core I3, 6GB Ram, a mechanical spin drive of 500GB and was shipped with Windows 7.
For this particular issue, pay attention to the symptoms, and the fact that we got to a Windows Logo loading screen means that we are getting a successful POST, and at this stage it will be an issue with either the drive or Windows startup issues, or even a combination of both. An old mechanical hard drive coupled with years of Windows bloatware and unnecessary startup program, and possible zero to very little maintenance of your drive means its time to upgrade to an SSD. Yes you can try to fix Windows startup issues and I do have a video on that, check it up there, it may work, it may not work. The last resort would be to do a complete Windows reinstall, but I would not advise here as the mechanical drive will keep giving you problems.

While I can appreciate that replacing a hard drive and reinstalling Windows will 'fix' the issue, you aren't actually providing a solution here.

Did you say to use GBT instead of MBR for this old laptop? My Toshiba p750 was restarting once login to win10 but due to a driver issue I think.
System restore made it hang before login screen. Was a clean install upgrade from win7. Time to look for one of my ssds
I have a samsung monitor and since starting to use it, Win10 inital logo comes up but it takes forever and lots of key pounding to get to the sign in for Win10 with a black screen till that time for minutes. I am running Win10 from a SSD drive, FYI, so I dont know why it goes black and doesn't start win10 sign in almost immediately like it used to with the other monitor.
My HP laptop has recently started booting on start menu screen instead of window login. I checked BIOS, seems everything right there. I also did setup default and reboot.no change.

I need help please. I have a laptop with broken display. So i use it by connecting it to my tv by a VGA cable. bro this fixes absolutely nothing, you just reset / reformat
laptop hard drives are so so evil, even if you have a core i7 and 16gb of ram these slow 5200 and 5400rpm drives always tend to hold up the raw processing power that the computer is clearly capable of when it comes to just, booting up, shutting down, opening up programs, or multitasking, and they just get slower with time.
Guess i really need to replace the hard drive or reinstall the windows every few months or so. Nothing else works

Hello healmytech i buyed a new pc and sometimes turns on and i can do things normaly but sometimes when i try to turn on my pc the fans are working and all the leds but the fans make a different noise (more loud) and the screen dosnt go on my TV. in my mother is a litle red dot that dot is off when my pc boots correctly but when it dosnt boot corrctly that light is on.

Do you have a way to fix a single beep on an Alienware x51 R1? It's beep pause beep pause. So single repeated beep. Happens after a bios update. Warranty is out, and dell will charge to fix it but if there's a fix I'd like to know if I can do it myself

ok i may have a fix, i did this and it worked;
Your laptop has 2 batteries , the normal "regular" one, and then there's the CMOS battery ; which is used by the BIOS (system's most basic operations to turn on Laptop and such) to remember Date/Time and Boot sequence.
now i replaced the CMOS Battery (depending on your laptop model it can be a b1tch) and everything worked well after a full reformat.
if That doesn't fix it, then something's wrong with your motherboard / OS ,
i STRONGLY recommend you change CMOS battery as it lasts for around 10Years before it dies, and go from there.

yeah same here, it just hangs on a black screen for like 3 minutes before logging in fine... SSD as well
Press power button for 5 sec. then pc will turn off then press for 1 sec. nd when manufacturer screen appears press power button again for 5 sec. repeat this process at least 2-3 times then ur windows will automatically go into "auto repair mode" then go into advance options and uninstall windows and features updates and then try to reinstall windows and this will do trust me.👍🙏

Windows stuck after loading your BIOS? I can show you how to fix that:
1. Install Linux and get me paid through using my other videos on how to Install Mint to your drive
2. Remove your HHD and buy an SSD from the affiliate link I've posted in the description.
3. Use Linux on said SSD

Useless video, I have this problem on a Toshiba Z30 that comes standard with an ssd built in. The whole system just got a clean install and works absolutely fine with an external monitor. The internal screen works fine when booting into the bios. Starting windows yields the black screen, and keystrokes do nothing. All advice that involves screen output are useless as one just can’t see anything. Still looking for the magic solution.
