Founded in 1983, the hip-hop crew Knights of the Turntables based their name on the title of the Cameo album, "Knights of the Soundtable". Lil Rockin G was influenced by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five and The Breakout Crew which lived in his neighborhood in New York. Then he moved to Los Angeles and first made his name as a DJ in Banning Highschool (Wilmington). There he met C-Brez, Curtis, and Madmixer RMG. Curtis worked for JDC Records which was the biggest record distributor at that time. Jim Callon who was the owner of JDC asked him if he knew anybody who can do a Hip Hop record. So the "Knights of the Turntables" ended in the JDC warehouse and recorded "Techno Scratch". The original purpose of this production was to make a records whith a lot of breaks and different beats that the "Knights of the Turntables" can use for their DJ battles. For the next record "Fresh Mess" they worked toghether with Cooley D and Snowman who were members of the Frozen Frew. They did a lot of shows in "Big Johns Hall" and a big ones in Fresno with Ice T and the "Spin Masters". There is also a music video of "Techno Scratch" shot in "Big Johns" hall from a guy called Michael Washington which worked for a local Cable Station. Cooley D and Snowman did 1986 a record called 3 Times Fresh "We can rock you harder" on the AMP Label. In 1986 the Knights of the Turntables split as a group. Lil Rockin G later produced Snowman - Funk it up and did scratching for D-Rock-D - Killer Daytons, both tracks were released on Saturn Records.
Thank you so much for this historical info, back then it was not so easy to buy TKOTT where I lived.. You had to be at the right time at the right moment otherwise it was sold/gone.. but yeah.. Greetings from Amsterdam, 52 years and still loving it, still have the 12"s.
I remember when I came to KILLAFORNIA in 1984 my parents were in the Air force, Breakdancing was at its peak and I remember hearing this song in the youth center on the military base. Those were such great times and hearing this again brings back some great memories...

The beauty of all of this is before crossfader curves we used that phono/line switch to cut ✂️ quicker and would break them or they would get static...man those were the days.
