+GemininoSouza Not sure it will come. This video has a specific origin. This is English language international version of the main video. The original is fully in Finnish narrating by the voice doing the intro and outro here. It was created, because the Finnish military Request for Information for the HX program included an opportunity for the companies (read de facto requirement) to provide a public marketing video for their contender. Essentially in order to try to sell the plane for Finnish public. So this was the Saab Gripens contender video. The original was posted to Finnish Defence ministry website. It was little odd part of the program. Maybe the did it only to see how serious the companies were based on if they bothered with a video. L-M F35 literally send their standard unedited PR video. I was really really interested in how the L-M C-5M Super Galaxy and U-2 Dragon Lady featured in the video (both of which we aren't buying or anything near them) can help the Finnish Defense Forces. :)
Gripen is very easily updated in hardware and other tech. Just like gripen A planes were taken to make C planes, today sweden will make some of it's Gripen E from C planes. So im sure it will be able to update and stay modern.
@@eetuhannola so? Even today radars can pick up stealth, might be totally worthless in 5 years. Unless they find a new material. Then the f-35's gonna have to be rebuilt anyway.
@@zoom5024 Thats total bullshit. It is impossible for radar to detect F35 from any better than today. Electro mahnetic radiation doesn't change. Gripen can never achive good stealth. If F35 would be obsolete in few decades they never would hace builded it.
@@eetuhannola The problem with most radars today is that they aren't really optimized against stealth, at least that's how i understand it. They discard any return signal the size of a bird or smaller, which is why most radars today has such poor range against low RCS targets. But new algorithms and computer hardware has apparently significantly increased the detection range against low RCS targets. According to SAAB the new computer hardware and algorithms in the GlobalEye AEW&C aircraft allows it to detect low RCS targets such as stealth aircrafts from the same distance the older systems used to detect non-stealth aircrafts.
That will be $255 million for 3 Gripen Es ($85 million per). Or you could get 3 F-35As for $213 million ($71 million per)and spend the change on weapons. 1 F-35A could decimate 3 Gripen Es, and there wouldn't be anything they could do about it, so now you're out the $255 million with smoking holes in the ground, whatever weapons you loaded onto the wings and fuselage (not cheap), and 3 pilots that are dead or need CSAR resources to recover them.
LRRPFco52 u joking right. Since f35 cost 30 000 per hour flight, vs gripens 4,5 dollars. And gripen is more maneuverable, faster top speed, lands much faster and has better missiles. Hope u joke
Arvalb No. Gripen is a tiny light weight fighter. That is only faster/maneuverable when it flying clean. No weapons= useless. Mercedes Benz owners don’t give a damn that your Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic is cheaper to buy and operate. You get so much less for the money.
Arvalb that’s reductive. Judging kinematic performance of fighters when they are clean is utterly irrelevant. Gripen is tiny light weight fighter. that’s way slower than F35 with weapons and fuel. Even the twin motor Eurofighter with 6 missiles and only a single high speed fuel tank can go Mach 1.6. The Gripen can only dream of that. Saab doesn’t get to reinvent physics.
+The Flying Gasmask Denmark, Finland and Brasil... The Gripen is the best against Russian Sukhois; In your case of Russia itself, In our case the Russian satellite called Venezuela...
Not really. There are better options: Rafale, Superhornet (the platform is already there), F-35. The natural progress would be Superhornet, but I do think, that Rafale is a strong contender.
Su30 > Gripen ,infact there is no match between these aircrafts ,su30 is Double Engine so can carry more payload for longer distances while Gripen cannot.
as a small engine and a plane that looks like a toy have the speed of 2400 km / h is possible? Brazil has likely problems in the medium term, against unstable neighbors who have su-30 fighter with the highest operating ceiling in Latin America, this is worrying.
+stylller100 Su-30 doesn't have the same capabilities. Russian radars and missiles are worse than European ones, for example. The speed is perfectly possible too. The F414 that'll be in the Brazilian Gripen NG is an excellent turbofan.
+Quinnspiracist I hope Qur you're right, we know that the political threat in Brazil can cause dictators parties like Venezuela and Bolivia, can do something, we have 6 million reservists in the army and 380,000 soldiers to state service, but one without air force army not it's nothing. thanks for informing.
+stylller100 Gripen was specifically designed to go up against Russian fighters such as MiG-29, MiG-25, Su-24, Su-27 and Su-30 as a defensive fighter. Gripen E/F will undoubtebly be one of the best BVR fighters in the world when it comes into service. The term "small" about the Gripen just plays to its advantage. It is able to carry almost as much weapons as many dual engine fighters, and matches their flight range, but at half the cost with a smaller RCS to thank for it. The Su-27 just thanks to its pure size has an RCS of more than 10 times as large as the Gripen.
Yes, I agree, it is the best choice for Finland compared to the F35, it surpass the DY american f35 in easy to maintenance ,and cheapness in operating costs especially flying hours costs, operational flexibility, it has a low radar signature that is not like the F35 but remains very small in its class, advance avionics and radar systems and scalable especially for the software of those systems , equipped with advanced electronic warfare systems and communication support assets , that permit the development the skills and enhancing the efficiency of the finnish air and ground crews , beside it would help the finnish army in digitizing its key compounds and vital assets and building a war center fusion HQs and centralized communication / datalink network at least connecting the ground forces ,airforce , and naval forces with each other , beside that Sweden's is neighbouring country to the Finland and with identical combat environment and this would help SAAB to provide rapid technical support , In addition to facilitating the transfer of technology and localizing part of the aircraft manufacturing process , I agree the f 35 would develop the finland air force to new level by introducing stealthy fifth-generation aircraft into service , and the f35 have potentials to grow and evolve , but the jas 39 still competitive platform at least from the : ( cost to run , operational practicality ,and transfer of technology and the co-production ) points of views for finland air force and high-tech industry .
If Finland chooses Jas Gripen E/F fighters, it will affect the Canada decision. Saab is one strongest candidate to be Finland's next fighter. That will be clever move to Saab, to offer FAF Global Eye planes to Finland!. Second favorit fighter to Finland is Super Hornet and Growler fighter. F-35 is not right platform to Finland that's why i date to say that If FAF choice's American plane that will be Super Hornet.
the smaller northern NATO nations should standardize on a joint production small lightweight defense fighter (like the gripen)made in large numbers, plus simple ground attack bombers(like a marinized version of the A10). this should include canada. no more us navy carrier multirole fighter/bombers! much too expensive and too complex for nations which don't HAVE aircraft carriers.
Sadly I have to say Denmark did a bad shoice with the F35-JSF a flying disaster and way to expensive and hight maint - and crap stats - and now with the SAABs Low frekquncy radar "" spin an angled AESA radar array "" "" The world has moved on from that stelthy thinking..Its over and out now ,,,. Stealth, as practiced by the F-22 and F-35, is optimized on radar in the X band from 7.0 to 11.2 gigahertz. Detection in other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum has improved a lot over the last twenty years. Chief of these is infrared search and track (IRST) which enables an F-35 to be detected from its engine exhaust from over 60 miles away. The latest iteration of the Su-27 Flanker family, the Su-35, has IRST and L band radar on its wings. L band and lower frequency radars can see stealthy aircraft over 100 miles away. So an Su-35 and JAS 39 Gripen can see a F-35 well before the F-35 can detect it. Stealth, as an end in itself, has outlived its usefulness, and maintaining that RAM coating is killing the budget for no good reason. Juat go look at the last RED Flag stats....5-0 5-0 5-0 to Jas Gripen... all fighters killed exept the F22 not taking part of Red Flag the rest was shot down with no problem....F35 included... I found this artikle amusing "" dailycaller.com/2016/01/22/american-gripen-the-solution-to-the-f-35-nightmare/ " ....Now USA call the Gripen a USA Gripen ....LOL ...what a joke .....We dont kneel down to any US Bs.....why not work together....Its a better way then try to steel from the Swedish High tech Industri ... we do build the best trucks and cars in the world..along with our Jas 39 Gripen .....Just ask our customers....
The F-35 is not invisible, but it has a greatly reduced Radar cross-section (RCS) compared other aircrafts, so it can stay undetected for much longer at long distance than any other normal aircraft, which is always a big advantage in military tactics and planning. Intelligence is one of the most important things in military because knowing the enemy position is half the battle, to prepare tactics and quickly react and adopt to the situation on the battlefield. Especially for Early Warning Radars (EWR).
@@verdebusterAP Thing is you can easily maintain multiple Gripens for the fraction of the cost of one F-35 so while it may be able to take one down it's dead after the missile is fired.
@@linusjensen1389@ The Gripen is cheaper but it won't survive an F-35 attack regardless of numbers. Its called combat tactics. 2 F-35 vs 4 Gripens, all the F-35 has to do is work its way around the Gripen and get behind it and salvo 4 missiles, while the Gripens are dodging, change position again. The Gripen that survive the first attack get reattacked by the second F-35. if equipped with sidekick, the F-35s would still have 4 missiles left for 3rd attack. As far the Gripen counter attack, not possible. Only IR missiles can effectively engage stealth. Radar guided missiles have to be extreme close or have extremely powerful and sensitive seekers. The Gripen's IRIS-T and Darter are limited to 19 miles max whereas the F-35 can engage with AIM-120s from 90 plus miles away

Finland being on the front line vs The Bear would qualify. Poland bought F-35 as well and will probably upgrade their young F-16 fleet to F-16V to link with F-35s.
I expect and wish great success for Gripen.
I believe Gripen is still valid for the next 40 years to come
a japanese general once said that invading the us would amount to the risk of facing a loaded gun behind every blade of grass. well, in the spirit of that analogy, invading finland would amount to the risk of facing a combat ready gripen behind every pine tree. given the ferocity and determination of finland's self defense as manifested by the risk of facing a deadly sniper behind every snow mound during ww2, potential invaders beware...
Gripen är en av de mest kostnadseffektiva alternativen för Finland. Vi behövar inte så mycket en långdistans, 2-motor tungt cruiser (som Hornet). Men, flera tänka att det är J-35 ändå...

These gripes and to be exclusive of Brazil do not know if he goes to another country because Brazil bought 35 to 2021 will be delivered Brazil did not buy the F18 hornet because they are much more expensive and Brazil will be able to manufacture the gripen NG
They are not exlusive to brazil. It's a swedish plane and they sell it to who they want.

Is SAAB developing conformable fuel tanks for Gripen ?
You telling your buying it or creating it? Is it the JAS 39 or some other Gripen?
Can the new Gripen really carry 5 RBS15 missiles??! Seems like a very heavy load.
Well the new Gripen is bigger and have a better engine and fuel capability, but i dont know what source you read that from. I cant confirm or deny it.
this article says it can carry 4 RBS missiles:

waiting a video like this for Brazil. and see one this in our sky!

Gripen NG, Brasil!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Gripen is absolutely great and modern fighter, but how modern it is in the 2060s and 2070s?
Gripen is very easily updated in hardware and other tech. Just like gripen A planes were taken to make C planes, today sweden will make some of it's Gripen E from C planes. So im sure it will be able to update and stay modern.
@@zoom5024 But you cannot add stealth.
Sold! I'll take three, please.
Yup, Gripen is the Toyota Corolla of fighters. The Gripen acolytes “ but, but, the Gripen is cheaper!!! now what was the question”?
JAS 39 Gripen is Swedish aircraft manufactured by SAAB

Not really. There are better options: Rafale, Superhornet (the platform is already there), F-35. The natural progress would be Superhornet, but I do think, that Rafale is a strong contender.

as a small engine and a plane that looks like a toy have the speed of 2400 km / h is possible?
+stylller100 Speed and height isn't everything you know.

This is the fighter for 🇫🇮
Not ready yet.
Is this fighter aircraft can overcome any threats which is come from SU-35 super flanker ?
good luck with the Finnish contest!
Incredible.
Apparently Gripen lost
Actually my country prefer to Sukhoi Su-35. But in my opinion sukhoi and gripen are perfect collaboration for protection air space.
Kei Kenny Wich country is that ??
If Finland chooses Jas Gripen E/F fighters, it will affect the Canada decision. Saab is one strongest candidate to be Finland's next fighter. That will be clever move to Saab, to offer FAF Global Eye planes to Finland!. Second favorit fighter to Finland is Super Hornet and Growler fighter. F-35 is not right platform to Finland that's why i date to say that If FAF choice's American plane that will be Super Hornet.
And for Canada.
It's a shame this didn't end up happening, Finland opted for the F-35A instead unfortunately...
the smaller northern NATO nations should standardize on a joint production small lightweight defense fighter (like the gripen)made in large numbers, plus simple ground attack bombers(like a marinized version of the A10). this should include canada.
no more us navy carrier multirole fighter/bombers! much too expensive and too complex for nations which don't HAVE aircraft carriers.
Sweden and Finland are neutral countries though, they are not NATO members.
i still say gripen e is the best choice for Finalnd.
No its not. Finland chose the F-35
Yeah…. About that
excellents god bless philippines good luck to all
Sadly I have to say Denmark did a bad shoice with the F35-JSF a flying disaster and way to expensive and hight maint - and crap stats - and now with the SAABs Low frekquncy radar "" spin an angled AESA radar array "" "" The world has moved on from that stelthy thinking..Its over and out now ,,,.
Stealth, as practiced by the F-22 and F-35, is optimized on radar in the
X band from 7.0 to 11.2 gigahertz. Detection in other parts of the
electromagnetic spectrum has improved a lot over the last twenty years.
Chief of these is infrared search and track (IRST) which enables an F-35
to be detected from its engine exhaust from over 60 miles away. The
latest iteration of the Su-27 Flanker family, the Su-35, has IRST and L
band radar on its wings. L band and lower frequency radars can see
stealthy aircraft over 100 miles away. So an Su-35 and JAS 39 Gripen can see a F-35 well
before the F-35 can detect it. Stealth, as an end in itself, has
outlived its usefulness, and maintaining that RAM coating is killing the
budget for no good reason.
Juat go look at the last RED Flag stats....5-0 5-0 5-0 to Jas Gripen... all fighters killed exept the F22 not taking part of Red Flag the rest was shot down with no problem....F35 included...
I found this artikle amusing "" dailycaller.com/2016/01/22/american-gripen-the-solution-to-the-f-35-nightmare/ "
....Now USA call the Gripen a USA Gripen ....LOL ...what a joke .....We dont kneel down to any US Bs.....why not work together....Its a better way then try to steel from the Swedish High tech Industri ... we do build the best trucks and cars in the world..along with our Jas 39 Gripen .....Just ask our customers....
Can't argue with that
Denmark made an excellent choice. People keep forgetting that the JAS-39 is not stealth, an F-35 will see it long before it sees it
The F-35 is not invisible, but it has a greatly reduced Radar cross-section (RCS) compared other aircrafts, so it can stay undetected for much longer at long distance than any other normal aircraft, which is always a big advantage in military tactics and planning.
