@@sebastienbrouillard Well, on its own, yes, it is extremely decent. However, if you were to compare it to their previous albums I can see why your son is calling it "sloppy". My personal favorite track on the album. Just something about it, minimal like you said but the way it builds. There's a point at the end after they hit that straight 4/4 groove riff, it hits that massive chug part and I always lose myself there. Best metal band on the planet!
Yes! Ligature Marks is actually groovy as h*ll, the song building more and more fierce with Jens Kidman's voice and lyrics as another percussive instrument. And the guitars in the outro!!! Playing that sweet (! ), almost moving tune - a fanfare! backed by Haake's and Lövgrens solid rhytm. ( That part creates a mellow, soothing, atmosphere, no equlibristic Guitar solo - just a profound finale🤘🙏 )
i got obzen and catch 33 on vinyl I ended up liking them so much. I didnt "get it" at first but the groove got into me deep. i get that neck face going on everytime i listen to them.
The ending of this music is just the most brilliant evidence of the uniqueness of these guys. They can do whatever they want with their sound. There are no similar bands to Meshuggah, they are in a league of their own!
@@t3hgir yeah and I think it broke him because a week later he quit doing reactions and is on Twitch now doing OSTs more than anything else. He took one for the team lol.
Meshuggah 🤙 Geebz I'm seeing them live at the agora theater in Cleveland on the 24th next saturday. I've never seen them live before I'm super excited.
If this song was 15 minutes long, I'd be lost in it for 15 minutes. This music video (of course the main feature is the song) is awesome, as I think it's the first time in music videos where I've ever seen one I call a sequel. This is definitely the sequel to The Abysmal Eye music video. You mention Meshuggah and their influence in music. Although bands may sample from them, there is no band even close to what Meshuggah does. They are on an island all by themselves. Tomas is a freaking genius. He is so incredible at back boning the offbeats to Meshuggah's music, which I think very few drummers could really do. One of the best drummers ever in the metal realm. Another new to me drummer to me is awesome, and that's Haruna from Lovebites. Power/Speed and not Djent, so really hard to compare. It's what they do to push the music is amazing I saw Meshuggah open for Tool back in 2002 at UMass Amherst. Funny combination, and it showed. Seeing Future Breed Machine live was incredible. The most comical thing though was when their set ended. The people were obviously there to see Tool, a different crowd than Meshuggah would pull in. The looks I saw when they played their last note made me laugh so hard. It was that slow clapping. blank stare, dumbfounded look of thinking what the hell did we just see. Blew Tool away for me.
That album is awesome! Stand outs for me are Broken Cog, Abysmal eye, Phantoms, They move below, Kaleidoscope. Black Cathedral is kinda an intro to I am that thirst. Check them out together. The lyrics are pretty cool on this album too. The 9th string on those guitars - you ever gotten a filling at the dentist and they use the coarse drill to open up a cavity in order to fill it? I can feel these riffs deep in my teeth and right through my skull just like that drill.
Thanks for the content. I think you would enjoy doing a bit of a deep-dive into Meshuggah. They reinvented rhythm in "guitars and drum" music and are worth fully understanding. And I think it would be recieved well by your audience and result in more die-hard faithfuls. Keep it up, Geebz!
