You may have just helped me avoid making a costly mistake. Your effort in presenting an honest, comprehensive review is much appreciated. I may need to order the Schuyler but it is obviously worth the wait.

Interesting perspectives you have. You’re very observant and it’s interesting to listen to. A little different than other reviewers. By the way I learned a new expression today - right off the bat 😊 Keep up and the Lord bless you richly.

I may be wrong but I think the gilding portion you mentioned with seeing the white line of the pages…I think that may have something to do with the binding. I think it has to do with how much it is curved.
Like this NIV heritage passaggio setting I have, the end of the pages look like a crescent moon because the spine is curved. With it like that I see the white lines of the pages.
Great video though. I don’t think we will ever find the one Bible that has everything we want in it in the style we want and all that.
I recently have been starting to think about both of these bibles. I have saved up for a little bit and can’t decide, still.
To be honest they both have different features that I really like. Maps are a big thing for me. I love history and archaeology.
I am probably goi n to get both of these as I love the compact editions.

I am so torn about which one to get 😂 single column vs double is a major factor. Personally, I'd prefer one without the concordance. Seems like a waste of paper weight as i never use the ones in backs of bibles. I have a cambridge pocket edition kjv and i LOVE it. So i know the cambridge are nice bibles. But single column vs double, concordance or no concordance...im learning towards the clarion. It seems like such a "classy" bible. The style of it, it makes me think the pilgrims had bibles like that coming across. They look very journal like.
We truly are blessed to have these struggles. There are people who would die for any bible of any size and any version! Here we are nit picking over these high end bibles 😂 God is good to us ❤

@lukeswain1752 What's most important is the translation. I have researched for a long time and now understand the majority text (Textus Receptus) is far truer to GOD'S word than any other. That is why I will recommend the KJV as the authoritative translation. I will not tell anyone not to read the NKJV, NASB 95, ESV, or (at least) NIV because they are a good help while one is learning the nuances of KJV English. To be honest, I don't think one should be "torn" because a fine bible is to be used to the point of wear. Rather, just decide which you will buy first and then make a plan to get the next one, and so on. However, let's not forget the critical commandment given in Joel 1:3, "Tell ye your children of it, and your children their children, and their children another generation." For the days of great deception have arrived. I would spend more time memorizing scripture than anything so don't neglect investing in index cards.

@@approvedworkman4668 thank you for the comment my friend! What manuscripts does the nasb translate from? I understand there are 3 variations. The original 70s one, the 90s, and then the newest 2020. I'm leaning toward the middle 90s one.
I would agree to the kjv being the "best" version. Over all, it's the best for sure. When I was reading online out of the nasb, as well as listening to it, I was able to understand it better then the kvj. I liked how it was more straightforward. I'm going to let the holy spirit decifer what the meaning is. That's the key in my mind. Someone could scratch a paraphrased john 3:16 in a bathroom stall, and the holy spirit can use that too! I read all scripture with an open, but discerning mind. After all, "the heavens declare the glory of God..." It's my belief you can also grow in relationship and knowledge to God just by observing creation and life. The fact that we even have His words in a Bible is SUCH A BLESSING. So for me, I'm going to relax about "which version is best" and focus more on the one who it's about. Thank you for the comment!! I pray God blesses you today ❤️❤️

I have a LEGACY NT in goatskin.
It is by far the best bible paper.
I wish the clarion had more yap because of the thickness of the bible.

The LSB NT is a great little bible to carry around and the paper is quite nice.

Given the clarion has a concordance in it and the Schuyler doesn’t, which do you prefer given their dimensions?

As I mentioned in the video, that's a consideration. The Schuyler is high quality, and with a real leather liner. The Clarion has a synthetic liner which makes the goatskin less supple. Having a concordance is an advantage but unless it's a rather thorough concordance, it will be quite hit and miss. I've become accustomed to carrying the smallest exhaustive concordance I could find, but understand that a concordance is usually aimed at the specific language of that translation. However, you'll find that a bible thesaurus is even better than a concordance. The Schuyler is more portable but not really for desk study while the Clarion is better for travel and desk study. About 98% of the time, I use references rather than the concordance. In fact, because I memorize a lot of scripture, I almost always search on my phone instead of flipping through the concordance. Basically it's in between a luxury and utility.

@@approvedworkman4668 right on; if one memorized Scripture well, no need to mind whether there’s a concordance or not. When you mentioned reference, are you referring to center column references to other Scriptures?

    • @approvedworkman4668
      @approvedworkman4668  Рік тому +1

@@pollycronopolis7648 @pollycronopolis7648 Well, it's not like I have a photographic memory but if you can remember a verse related to the info you're looking for, you can usually use a cross-reference or chain-reference and find what you're looking for. Concordances can be lexical, topical, or phrasal (including other words in verse). Likewise, reference books can be topical, cross-reference, chain-reference, or whatever. However, a really good bible thesaurus, as I mentioned previously, sort of combines both. You can locate a word, then find several verses where that word is used. I find it to be more valuable than a concordance. Now, if you're traveling and only have one compact bible, something like an Allen Clarendon (better, cyclopedic concordance) or Cambridge Clarion would be useful because you at least have a concordance to help with study. Anyway, bible references can be center-column, side-column, or like Schuyler, at the bottom of the page. Some bibles use cross-referencing, others use chain-referencing. Chain-reference is sort of a precept-based reference that follows verse to verse whatever covers that precept. Cross-reference is kind of the same thing except it links verses across chapters or books.
