  • I've been building, upgrading and repairing computers professionally since 1991. This 15 year old I am republishing now in 2024 to preserve some provenance and evidence of my work history once this form of documenting became possible in 2008 when Google bought UA-cam and videos were limited to no more than 20 minutes in length. Therefore, this video was broken into 4 parts and is reassembled and resolution upscaled, with AI text added to correct some bad audio mixing.

I never warmed up to Studio 2. I suspect most people build their computers on kitchen tables anyway.

Sad that it’s odd to hear music in a yt video now. Fun to see how pc builds have changed since as well as the channel.

Feel like a pilot episode to me but I never saw this clip before and also I built myself while I watched your channel in 6 years ago. Man, that was golden era how to build PC. Many takes later on was adding zip ties, tucked in the away power supply cables, and even more warning words, things like CPU and memory sticks installing. Well, that episode was so RAW cuts for every steps of process how to do it. Like cookies cutters showing here. I had my first built was Gigabytes G41MT-S2PT with Intel Q6600 Quad core and Crucial 1066 Mhz which completed in December 2016 and unfortunately I retired them in 2024 which aged the hardware. I continuously building another one for back up PC while re-built my existed PC. Also, troubleshooting but I loves troubleshooting the PC matter facts I have 2 of them my parents and brother having PC issues and fixed them. Great unusual tutorial videos, Carey. Especially, this board would become a dinosaur era. 🖥⌨🖱

    Classic Carey Holtzman!!
Wasn't into PCs in 09. Our PC was an eMachines that we got from Frys. I just donated that thing to Goodwill last year, lol! Time sure fly by really quick.

3:01 LOL, I built my first PC, in 1976 at the age of 14, with a soldering pencil. It took me over a year to complete but that's probably because I had also just obtained my Amateur Radio License and I was frequently sidetracked, plus I made quite a few catastrophic mistakes since there wasn't anyone that I could ask questions when I wasn't sure how I to proceed.
Since then I've taught quite a lot of people quite a few different topics regarding PCs. As far as 'modern' computer building channels on youtube go I'm going to go not too far out on a limb and say that Carey's is the best. Mainly because he's thorough and he's decent; he keeps a tolerant attitude. Some computer instructors can become frustrated with the beginner but that hasn't been Carey, from my viewpoint. People don't learn well in an environment that is hostile. I don't necessarily agree with every tiny detail that he teaches but especially for a beginner you can't go wrong, he's really good and you will learn everything that you need to. My suggestion would be to take notes so you don't have to ask the same questions, remain flexible and be open to new ideas. PCs are all about change, especially in these 'early' days of computer technology. If you become rigid and inflexible you will fall behind the newer technologies. Always remember, be civil, remember where you came from in case you have to teach someone about what you will learn here (some of you most certainly will). Most of all have a good time and you will learn well because if you have fun doing it you won't have to 'work' at it.
With that I offer you my best regards and wishes. Best of luck! CR

This takes me back, I remember the Core 2 Duo days. Built my first computer in 2007, I miss the days when you did not need RGB and complex wiring when building a computer and Windows XP and Windows 7, those OS's where a joy to use.
