I did this trip last year and it made me quite emotional watching this video - it's a tough but incredible adventure and I take my hat off to anyone who has done it too. Anyone thinking of doing it - do it!! You won't regret it. I wish these guys would wear helmets though - i was knocked off just north of Carlisle by a car and mine certainly saved me a nasty injury
I watch endless UA-cam Videos on cycling the End to End - can't get enough. Did it with some friends back in 1999 and the memories never leave you when do something like this. Well done.
I'm surprised nobody has commented. I've not even finished watching but I know I'm going to enjoy this one. Love the music, the production and of course the ride. Good stuff! I'll continue watching now....
Lovely scenery and music for these impeccable gentlemen of the road. The clothing outfits and pristinely packed paniers reminded me of the 30s,40s,and 50s especially with nary a car in sight. Even the rainy day shot in Scotland had the sun shining on heavenly mountain backdrops. Just perfect !! ☺
Absolutely stunning images, amazing music... The commentary is awesome too. Fantastic video mate, very well done! I'm currently walking my LEJOG and I can't believe the beauty of England! Vlogging every minute of it :)
I've done 3 big, 2 week tours on various bikes. Things missing in this video. 1) Provisioning - find a supermarket. Park bike safely. Navigate supermarket and spend a long time finding the specific things you need. Pack bags. Cycle with extra ~3-5kg weight on bike. Always have to do this towards the end of the day as a result. 2) Unpacking/pitching tent. Taking down tent, repacking everything - this is a long operation 3) Finding somewhere to pitch the tent. AFAIK, in the UK, wild camping is only allowed in Scotland. Otherwise you need to go to a specific campsite. Will it be on your route though? 4) Normal life chores. Clothes need washing. And drying. At least periodically. 5) Weather - a brutal headwind for a whole day is not so improbable, and can be a game changer unless you are seriously fit and strong. At the end of 2 weeks like that, you are pretty frazzled. Add on a mechanical issue or two, and you can get even more frazzled, unless you have no iron set deadline for finishing. So as a result, I am not quite sure what we are being shown here, apart from an advert for a pretty heavy saddle that may or may not be more comfortable than other saddles. That 80 mile a day average is a serious effort. Unless perhaps, you have slightly more "full service" rest and recuperation possibilities at the end of most days?
There are so many times I wish I lived in Great Britain. Being Canadian, I feel a strong tie to our mother country, and so much of the culture from which we derive our society. As an avid cycling enthusiast, I'd love to make this trek someday. If only I had the money to partake in such a wonderous trip. Capital video, Brooks England. I just purchased my first Brooks saddle, a B17 Special Titanium, and I hope it lasts me for many years. I may not be able to live in England, but thank you Brooks for providing me with something made with old world craftsmanship!
When I saw the various magazine ads, I was suspicious. A bit too immaculate, well groomed, perfectly packed, lumpless luggage. Having seen the film, it is obvious there was a support vehicle. That might explain a few things, but only in a less favourable light. Maybe the riders did only have one shirt each, and maybe the bikes and riders were valeted before each shoot, and the bags reattached. Or maybe it was all fake?
I dont believe for one minute that these two fellas completed the full ride. I did the ride in 2006.....I was never dressed like something off the fast show....
What song is it at 5.50 mins? How do u call this kind of music and do u have any recommendations for bands who do that kind of music? It makes me tear up coz it´s so beautiful. Best wishes from Germany, gonna get one of ur bags tomorrow :)
Try doing this kind of ride in Canada and you’ll loose your hearing after a few months of listening to 18 wheelers scream by you at 130 kph every 38 seconds on any of the 2 roads that traverse the country.
I would be wary of making accusations about the validity of this video, as in no cars, no helmets, beer? And completing it in 12 days, etc. After completion, they don’t look as dishevelled as they should after a thousand miles, it is very well shot and professionally made. Touring cyclists know it never that easy to get a great shot of you cycling, so you settle. Well done for doing it but it does look more like an advert for Brooks than an achievement, sorry.
why is John O'Groat's spelt WITHOUT the apostrophe? well, i am waiting! WHY? do they not teach apostrophes any more in scotland or in the rest of britain?
david griffiths thousands of people including myself want to achieve this race from lands end and they are showing young children that its ok not to be safe. and this video was staged
+Ikreisrond I would wear a helmet if a frequently easily ran and reached speeds of 15 to 30+ mph for hours at a time, probably would be quite sensible. But I think I run at about 4 to 6 mph for like 30 mins.
+Ikreisrond there are no guarantees my seat belt will save my life but it is designed to help, so I wear one when driving, helmets are designed to help protect your head so I wear one when riding, will it work lets hope so but there are no guarantees depending on the accident but they are there to help lessen the impact to your head by absorbing and dispersing some of the force. I will not be relying to any further message as I'm not going to spend any more of my time debating if safety equipment should or shouldn't be warn.
+James Griffiths lkreisrond thank you for you feedback I did not know they were only tested standing, but I still would wear one. Have a good day mate.
Ever been to Holland? Bicycle is primary form of travel. No helmets, texting whilst riding, drinking beer (whilst riding), big spliff, normal clothes, great laugh, multi-storey bike parks, lovely people, massive cycle paths, bikes have right of way, no lights at night. They seem fairly happy. ( I don't know what the statistics are like but it doesn't feel like taking your life in your hands when you go out on a bike!!). C'mon lighten up and get on yer bike or you will have a heart attack.

Cracking vlog. Love the old school bikes they're mint! Looked a great way to do it!

Incredible Video I couldn't believe some of the comments on here listen to them and you wouldn't leave the house. Living the dream boys. Love It !!
Thanks kindly
Parabéns pela exposição do vídeo! Moro distante (Brasil) e me senti pedalando junto com os ciclistas. Felicidades!
I normally don't like adverts but this one was fine.

What route was it? Preparing for inline skating this challenge and looking for best surface and least traffic version
I dont believe for one minute that these two fellas completed the full ride. I did the ride in 2006.....I was never dressed like something off the fast show....
Dale Collins I agree. I’m planning to this in August. With a friend. They don’t even look shattered. I’m doing mine for charity and going to camp
@@chelseafelgate9886 I was there and watched them bitch their way through it. 100% completed.
Those bits were filmed separately
I bet Ted could do it...and in wellies.
I love these films, but I have no idea why the music has to be so loud. It’s not uncommon and quite annoying having to adjust the volume constantly.
What song is it at 5.50 mins? How do u call this kind of music and do u have any recommendations for bands who do that kind of music? It makes me tear up coz it´s so beautiful. Best wishes from Germany, gonna get one of ur bags tomorrow :)
Beautiful, where are the rain shots?
6'30"?
Awesome video! Can you please tell me the name of the music played from 5:37?
Chas Roberts frame. Perfect!
Hope Brooks did the decent thing and provided you with their bags F O C , as you did a great advertisement for them.
900 miles and 9:20 min? No way, you are cycling too fast. However lovely video and great job on (or at) bike. 👍
Fantastic video, well done guys :-)
this is like watching easy riding from hell editing/sound track wise.
Would you have the details or their route? I would be interested to compare it to mine :P
Alex Hemingway Alex, I am thinking about doing the trip too next year. would you say 12 days from end to end (or 14) are fast paced? Daniel
I mine is a 12 day, gives you a nice average of 80 miles a day on a longer quieter route!
ok, lovely. cheers mate.
oh, there are no cars on this island? :-D good vibes!
They chose an excellent route ;)
Great video
Does anyone know what kind of tents were used?
Yes, I used a Hilleberg Akto, not sure about Adam's model but it was a Terra Nova
Wow, and they did it without helmets or being peer pressured into looking like a spandex freak. Refreshing
I want all their collapsible items! Tent! Fishing rod! 8O And they fit in those panniers!
The photographer had a van that was large enough to accommodate two bikes and riders. No truth in advertising here.
They rode it, we made the video. We made them change clothes a couple times and we filmed some bits months before.

How disheveled should we have looked exactly. I can assure you we did do it Mark
Drinking beer!!!! Heaven forbid!!!!
beautiful!
I dunno but it looks to me like they were going around in circles - they went down the same bit of road at 3:13 and at 3:30
Well done!
Helmets?
why is John O'Groat's spelt WITHOUT the apostrophe?
well, i am waiting!
WHY?
do they not teach apostrophes any more in scotland or in the rest of britain?
Never mind that; why did you fail to give Britain a capital 'B'?
Not hating. But why would you wear, that sort of clothing.
wearing a helmet in a bike race makes perfect sense but for general cycling and touring the safer you feel the more careless you will be .
Anstatt mit dem Fahrrad würde ich da lieber im MG TA fahren wollen.
Must be a hard work carrying all this leather weight :D
panniers filled with bubble wrap..
Nice to see the wearing of normal clothes
千里之行始于足下--老子《道德经》
Great video, but guys you should be wearing helmets! Terrible example.
its an amazing video, the only thing that let me down was that they didn t use a helmet...
***** lol
ええな ブリテン島縦断自転車旅^^してみたいねえ。
why are they not wearing helmets
Ben Groutage I totally agree they should be wearing helmets.... to be honest the video look great but a little staged !
david griffiths thousands of people including myself want to achieve this race from lands end and they are showing young children that its ok not to be safe. and this video was staged

une grande envie d'évasion
everything they do is wrong,no safety,drinking beer,just an advert,with a bad message

paddypete1 I suspect your face is moulded by a lifetime of girning. Just enjoy the video.
Drinking beer at the end of the day...
@@TheSJCieply yea they should be drinking beer all day
Where's the helmets????!
FAKE, staged
No helmets = Mad and not the correct message Brooks !
