Max’s review of this guitar is dead on!
I bought a used version(In phenomenal condition) of this, a few weeks for $600. An incredible value! It is super comfortable to play. If you are in the market for a super strat that can be incredibly versatile as far as getting metal tones, Strat like overdriven tones and all those glassy clean tones, this does it ALL!
Wow you're lucky! They aren't so readily available here in Canada. Ide love to be able to buy a used one especially in silver.
Hey MAX. It’s cool to bounce around various affordability levels. Two points: 1.) All your viewers do not have the same expense account. 2.) Nobody has hired you on as their Macy’s personal guitar shopper. Besides, I like seeing how I fit into the scheme of things. I’m able to make more informed decisions based on knowing what’s out there. So whether they’re in my reach or not, thanks for the international knowledge range from $839 to $1400. VIVA MAX!
I just bought this guitar a week ago. Got the Cream Vintage color. Love this guitar.
Great video Max! Such an underrated channel!
You really need to check out FGN Guitars man. I am pretty sure those Volas are made at their factory alongside Ibanez Prestige models :)
Great video Max. I've been keeping an eye out on these Vola guitars. They look great. Another affordable Japanese brand is the FGN brand. They have some options in the $700-$850 range as well.
Fuji FGN Gold Top with P-90's blew me away...Sustain for days...Quality matching Gibson Custom shop for 800 bucks.
These are so unique and with that price I could see myself picking one up at some point!
I recently bought one of these used for $549. Fantastic playability and build quality! I got the classic carve (CC) neck profile because I like a chunkier neck, but the neck is still fast
I would choose this current one... like you said, less complicated, and very responsive... it sounds amazing... I own a Weston Leader (alder body hard maple neck and finger board, one humbucker at the bridge that is has split coli). I bought it new In 1982, and the quality is awesome still to this day.
You make any guitar sound good Max.
Vola makes excellent instruments.
Sic looking guitar. Sounds awesome.
I think next year I'm going to put up money or sell extra gear to get a Vola. They are nice AF!
I don't know if the comment about $1.4k being too expensive was in general but to me that wouldn't be expensive for a Japanese guitar given the very, very high quality of Japanese craftmanship.
As to other Japanese models < $1k : some in the Fender Japan lineup, I believe; FGN. But many, many more below 2k and even 1.5k. It's a really good time to be buying a Japanese guitar.
this reminds me of a Yamaha Pacifica for the same price range..
Great guitar! Sounds good and is very comfortable
As a previous Suhr fanboy and new Vola fanboy, they feel and sound like suhrs at 1/3 the price. Insane bang for your buck guitars
FGN makes several Strats for under $1000.
Sweet guitar! I watched the first review you did on the red on and loved its look but I like the simplicity of this model and it comes in classic burst. I’m old school blues guy! It’s not to bad price in Canada for $ 1150
Ive had my eyes on this brand since I saw them. Japnese made. Brilliant looks and tonal quality from what ive seen and heard. One day !!!!
I bought a used early 90's mij charvel and it plays great . I think that was when Japan was really cheap
Thanks 🙏 you for sharing I got get one myself beautiful guitar 😊
You should check out FGN guitars. They are all made in Japan and start at around 650.
Try the FGN guitars. Japanese made and some models are even cheaper than this one.
Thanks for the review. Great channel. INFO. 🎶✌️
They designed & built the most aesthetically pleasing shredable 50’s Strat possible. More daring than the $1350.00 Dave Murray Fender.
Hi Max, excellent video as always. Can you do a review of the Epiphone Greeny please
when I see one of these videos I automatically hit the like button He's that good
i recently bought a fender mij hm from the 90s, installed some dimarzio dactivator on it and is a chuggin machine
Hey MAX,
Can you compare these with FGN Guitars? They are basically the inhouse brand of FujiGen factory, Japan.
looking forward for the video :D
Max, like I said before I don't support china because of the working conditions. BUT, Japan is not the same way. I checked out an Ibanez prestige asz and I love it. But I did watch the last Vola video that you made... and I checked Vola guitar out and really liked the way they do business, SO I AM GOING TO GET THE VOLA OZ RV TNC Tiger Eye Gloss....if took you a while to figure it out, well I guess I will have to deal with it ‼️ 😂🤣
I don't support China because they brought us a bioweapon and should not be rewarded for it , they fucked up the world and their economies for almost 3 years and we're just supposed to forget about it and pat them on the back saying thanks we forgive you I'll take another. It's complete bullshit that people are so willing to forgive them and there's no consequences for what they did!😖
Hilarious that you would give Japan of all places a pass on working conditions, please do a little research 😂
Japanese guitars that are sick … Cool Z s type and t type guitars made at Fuji gen - and edwards, navigator and grass roots made by ESP
VERY nice guitar! I have a Schecter Nick Johnston HSS (Indonesian) that was a little less expensive than this Vola, and the build quality is literally flawless. I haven’t seen EVERY Schecter, but if this Vola exceeds my Schecter’s build quality, then it must be mind-blowing.
I have the Schecter NJ as well as was thinking the exact same thing. Could it be better than our already perfect Schecter?
@@Stratisfied22 Not sure how! Maybe just as good, but different? I’d like to find out, but I’m pretty happy for now.
Nice one. Have you thought that some guitars are WORN? The minute you sling it on feels like you're wearing it. The fit is just right.
Cool guitar. I just don't like the pointy upside-down headstock thing.
A vey nice guitar almost perfect, good price, great looks, amazing sound and the silver. At this price it should have stainless steel frets.
Max did everything of doing basses to ,so us bass players can be informed too
Like a work of art.
Ibanez RG Genesis are under a grand. Great guitars!!!
I HATE the look of a maple fingerboard but LOVE the look of a roasted maple fingerboard so if they could just put on a rosewood or ebony board I would opt for this one as I am no longer into flash.
They have several models on the website that aren’t quite this cheap that have what you’re looking for without all the flash. Like $1000-1100 price point.
Great review! been out of the game for a while but picked up my old peavey guitar (after about 15 years) and want to get back into playing. Are there any other Japanese brands of decent quality less than $500? I want to say there were several back in the hair metal days 🤟🏼😜🤟🏼
Japanese brandnames, made in China, quality controlled set-ups , usually in Japan , before release to export or local markets. Bacchus Universe series is one, that's a fact. Yammy are doing similar but producing from Indonesia, as are Ibanez, but their Ibanez MIJ gitars are mostly made by FGN
So if this is (essentially) $800 and the other model Max tested is $1,400, what's making up the $600 difference? The flame top and pickups?
Looks like the Yamaha Pacifica.
979,00 EUR in Europa.
Hey Max, question. I have a major league question for the music industry, specifically for engineers who design parts based on a working knowledge of metallurgy. It’s a real WTF skull scratcher. I can’t believe this hasn’t been tested and eliminated from practical and effective implementation. But dude, I can’t figure out why. So anyway, if brass is “the metal of sustain” and stainless steel is “the metal of smooth, corrosion-free longevity”, how expensive can an alloy of them be? Molecularly, they’re only two to seven metals apart, so they blend like water with water, and the mix has little chance at galvanic corrosion. So the alloy would be cheap, safe, and a wet dream for bridges, tremolos, frets, nuts, and tuners. I haven’t checked on tensile properties, but for all I know, dude… strings. I mean WTF?
I bet if you did a side by side test, all other things being equal, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Put it on the mix and it would be even less likely. The things latest in the signal chain have the greatest effect on your tone. Speakers, cabs, and amp eq are the most important. Everything else has a negligible effect. There are tons of tests on this on UA-cam. Check out what Jim Lil and Glen Fricker have done.
@@kma6881 Hey, thanks. I will.
I know Ibanez isn't really made in Japan. It is a Japanese company similar to Schecter. But I would compare that to maybe one of the old RGs. It kind of looks like it except you have the reverse headstock. To be honest I like the headstock on the VOLA a lot. Sort of a cross between a Fender and a Solar. Matter of fact maybe you can do a demo on one of the new S by Solar guitars!!❤ They seem to be a pretty good build quality and for such a great price They are also shipped from overseas I believe¿Okay Max another great video!!! See you on the next one my friend.....
The cheap ones are made in china . The high quality ones like the prestige asz is manufactured in Japan
Ya 👍
One of these days, I'll get an FGN. That's a Bucket List guitar.
I agree. ❤
With all the cool Amazon sub 200 ish which is nice, I do like a quality guitar for life. I have a Harely Benton Fusion T. Classic Vibe 60s 2015 and fender mim fsr David Gilmour looking strat which those 3 are my faves. They aren't quite the bucket list as I think they are close. The MIM strat it's the frets. They are nice but not as tall as I've grown to like. The Harely Benton , If it was HSS and Not a tele albeit I love it and it plays like a dream, the classic vibe is killer too but I would like to have taller and SS frets on it. This type in video seems to hit all the points. Lol.
HOW DOES SIRE COMPARE?
This guitar looks cool very kino
Well, one thing is for sure, you sound much better on this instrument than anything else I can recall in your tests in the past. This is not to say that this is a reflection of your musicianship because everybody will sound better on a guitar that is tailored to a particular individual's physiology, but long story short, this guitar is an excellent fit for you, and as such it's a reflection that the instrument in general probably has great playability.
Edit; so the big question is, the bull in the china shop if you would, is the review sample that is sent to you a reflection of what the average buyer would receive if he orders one?
Maybe you mean "elephant in the room"?
@@tylerellington8796 you say tomato I say tomato, same meaning
Great guitar at 800 bucks for Japanese savoir faire. great deal despite the tire kicker comments...😀😀🤟🤟🤟🤘🤘🤘🤙🤙🤙
Fender/Jackson have lost their minds and I hope they feel it. They took their Japanese guitars raised the price to $2500 USA Select prices and their USA versions are $4500, keep 'em
Great guitar! For me simple controls is better. For that price I don't think so.
whats the name of the union, ya know like ibanez worker’s have their own union brand for example, just to educate ya, merry x mas
I rather have this then a fender
Not Japanese, but Shijie is supposed to be amazing quality in the $850-$1100 range
Sweet
While I think that that is a gorgeous guitar, and you made it sound very nice, I may be in the minority, but I just don't care for the reverse headstock.
Excellent overall review but a demo should be be on a real tube amplifier, not a simulator.
I wanna see this guitar at 600 $ range..... it would be possible
Japanese guitar should be made out of.. bamboo 🎋
Of course the Japanese are known for their shoddy workmanship: think samurai swords, netsuke, silk kimonos, cloisonne, antique ivory carving (not new), etc, etc. If the bullet train is one minute late the driver is publicly shamed on the platform. Don't worry about Japanese quality.
Damn that's pretty
It's so little!

Started out with the cheapos. Now you're scoping out thousand dollar Japanese brands. See how that works?
I think this company started off backwards, they should of worked their way up,simply because they are a new company doesn't mean they can just jump in the game, you have to earn your reputation,in the guitar market, bad move to try and compete with guitars in the $1000 plus price range, even this guitar at $800 is way too high, looks more like a 4-$500 dollar guitar.
This guitar brand has been on Darrell Braun and Agufish. Sounds like they've already made it.
Vola has been making guitars since 2015. They are played by many pro musicians and have been reviewed by Phil McKnight, Agufish, Guitar Max, Darrell Braun, and many others. Vola’s guitars actually used to go for double or more the current prices and were always said to be well worth it. In the past year, Vola managed to reduce their prices considerably by deciding to sell direct to consumers through their website instead of selling through retailers where there were many added costs of doing business that way.
That being said, your comment is completely off base. They are not new. They had a great reputation from the start with a luthier of 25 years starting the business along with his friend. They could have kept selling guitars for $1500-$3000, but they took a huge risk and changed their business model to help more consumers have a shot of attaining a high quality Japanese guitar for a fraction of the price.
Now, I do hope they’ll find a way to offer a line that’s a bit more budget-minded guitars for around $499-$699. But to say these aren’t worth the money without knowing anything about this company just makes you sound pretty silly. Go find another comparable Japanese guitar with the same specs, high quality materials/parta, and attention to detail as these Volas for anything less than $1200, and I’ll eat my hat. 😂😂😂
I can see their marketing strategy getting players to dream about guitars they can't afford or don't want to spend so much for and BAM they offer some at $830 which in Canada is over $1000 but I would pay that price for a quality guitar. Love the reverse headstock and 6.8 lbs is amazing. Please tell me it has stainless steel frets and its on my list!
You're exactly right and $800 is not well under a thousand dollars. Max is wrong on this , like you said it's a new brand and needs to prove itself. I wouldn't even pay $500 for any unknown brand!
@@mikeg6666Vola been around, they sell directly to the customer, cutting out the music store, to save money.
$500 today gets you a Squire 👎‼️
Is it a dude or a chick? 🤷♂
Yeah man I like them. Very cool.
