  • [ENABLE CAPTIONS !] In this video you will learn how to lock your modem/router on selected LTE band ( or set of bands if you have LTE carrier aggregation in your device).
If you let your modem/router to select bands automatically it will camp on highest frequency which are usually most crowded and you will get lower Internet connection speeds... Best approach is to check different band combinations and select best performing bands in your area
In this way you may improve your Internet connection at no cost in no time.
I am using here free tool available on GitHub :
    github.com/tpo...
created by amazing guys from this forum : www.lteforum.a...
The tool works on Windows 10 / 7, MacOS, Linux and even on iOS (haven't tried). It uses HILINK API requests over HTTP to talk to your modem/router (configuration is exchanged in XML format). You can even modify the source code to include new options/bands for your device if you are good at C++.

Appreciate it, very clear tutorial and it worked for my B268-300 modem. Moreover, I finally solved my 5 month long agony of no speed during day and at night by locking to 2300 mhz, I instantly went from 1-2mbps to 12 mbps, which is paradise by comparison. Thanks a lot.

    Thank you! Worked with B535-232.
I used the v1.0 of the tool, since it's modified the last time in May 2022 (and it's the non-beta version). Good alternative to the HuaCtrl App. (You can't change the LTE band anymore with this android app unless you buy the pro version.) So the huawei_band_tool is a really good alternative.

@@justanengineer5599 Thanks for your helpful reply, Adam. After watching your videos, I ordered a Huawei B818 and am still waiting for it to arrive. Assuming that a particular Huawei router (including USB donles like E8372) is compatible, would any huaCTRL adjustments (eg, LTE band locking or CA) be "permanent" and not be changed (back) by a router reboot or on/off? Hello justanengineer.
    Love your content btw.
when i do the command to show the bands on my huawei b310-22 it shows this :
    Current LTE Band: 7FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF (800+900+1500+1800+2100+2300|TDD+2600+2600|TDD+ALL)
I'm confused because in that information it show i'm using all the bands but in my browser page of the router it says that is only using 4G and i have no option to use LTE there.
There was a buddy of mine that showed a similar b310 router with an modification and it showed LTE on the router browser page.
In your opinion , do i need to do anything more in regard to the bands?
    Would i have a better result if I buy a b535 router?
    Many thanks

    • @justanengineer5599
      @justanengineer5599  2 роки тому +1

Hi. First of all LTE and 4G is the same. LTE equals 4G. What your command outputs is that your router is configured for automatic band selecton. Now you can select the band you wish amongst those displayed by that command

Is there an particular process to choose the bands? What are your recommended bands?

    • @justanengineer5599
      @justanengineer5599  2 роки тому

The rule of thumb is that lowest bands are usually more loaded but have better range than higher frequency bands and that makes lower frequency bands more stable for use. I would recommend to look for some frequencies in the middle. This will all depend on how many bands you have available in your nearest cell tower

You may try the same settings as for Huawei E3276 modem :
(Band) - code allowable ranges for networks 2G / 3G. Possible values are:
      80 - GSM1800
      300 - GSM900
      80000 - GSM850
      200000 - GSM1900
      400000 - UTMS B1 (2100)
      800000 - UTMS B2 (1900)
      4000000 - UTMS B5 (850)
      2000000000000 - UTMS B8 (900)
      1 - BC0A
      2 - BC0B
      4 - BC1
      8 - BC2
      10 - BC3

      10000000 - BC12
      20000000 - BC13
      80000000 - BC14
Each code represents a hexadecimal (HEX) value. To specify a combination of ranges is necessary to lay down the appropriate codes. For example, to specify the range of GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, we must calculate 0x80 + 0x300 + 0x0x80000 = 0x80380. This will be the result code range - 80380.
(Lte band) - code allowable ranges LTE.
      1 - B1 (FDD 2100)
      4 - B3 (FDD 1800)
      40 - B7 (FDD 2600)
      80 - B8 (FDD 900)
      80000 - B20 (FDD 800)
      2000000000 - B38 (TDD 2600)
      8000000000 - B40 (TDD 2300)
      800C5 - EU bands (LTE Band 1, 3, 7, 8, 20)
      800D5 - EU/Asia/Africa bands (LTE Band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20)
