    Great work Nigel! The Brazilian Rain tree is on my wishlist, for someday when I have a space on the benches. I love composite leaves, and the Brazilian seems really resilient and vigorous.

    What a lovely video! I made some dinner, sat down and relaxed after a long workday. Beautiful tree! Those roots will love the new pot! Have a great summer Nigel :D

    I think the tree looks great in the pot. Seeds take time, they will come up. Sometimes they take longer than others. Hopefully they are all viable. Lots of work you have. I know how it feels.

    Love the camera view with the root pruning ... now it makes more sense to me as a beginner... when you snip snip the roots it looks like one of your chickens pecking food 👍

    Nice, thx for taking care about your hands 😅
    5 Years in this pot sounds a bit bold with this root and crown growth 😂 ... or maybe ... you did not say without repotting it. I really like it. If it was my tree,I would probably remove the visible thorns on the trunks, since they do not match the impression of a large tree, the thorns are out of proportion then, they make the tree look smaller. Thx for sharing 👍.

    Beautiful tree and hair progression, love it. Thanks for sharing the next step in this tree journey! Catching up again after a death in the family, it helps to be reminded that life continues. Many blessings of good health and stay safe 🙏🏼

    Why would you not anchor the tree? Wouldn’t the wind lift it up and out of the pot?

    lovely to see all the progress on your trees. esp. the spruce bog. amazing how quickly that's filling in! my own larch seedling is growing amazingly fast since i transitioned it to full sun. i've never grown a larch before, so it's really exciting. :) maybe one of the all time best bonsai species out there.
    that tar mixture also looks like a winner. when i have enough time for wood projects again, i might have to steal that idea from you, lol

    Do the roots eventually hold the soil together? I don’t have any pots that shallow, yet. I also add some potting soil to my mix to kind of mold the roots stable.

    Hello Nigel, I have 2 BRT Bonsai and 2 as plants that I'm letting grow out in large pots. I appreciate your wealth of knowledge and all of your videos. My question is, I have been using Akadama or pumice, small 1/8 lava rock, very small orchid bark and..... Miracle grow as my mix for all of my Bonsai. (Schefflera, Fig Benjamina, Dwarf Burning Bush, Juniper. Is Miracle grow organic soil a no for all trees mentioned?

    Hi Nigel , I thought being a holiday today I would catch you live , maybe next time 😀, the acacia tree we get a glimpse of once in a while , I think you call it mimosa tree . What are your plans with it , I have 2 the same which are just trunks with a few branches and leaves on the top , will you trunk chop it or bend/twist it or …… I’m a bit scared 😱 to just chop the top of to reduce the height at the moment , expert advise needed please , was good to see the old wooden turntable from the old days , fab video as always , thanks

    Have you tried another type? There is a type of tree called chloroleucon tenuiflorum. This tree is the same as the chloroleucon tortum, but its trunk is thicker. She looks old with a few years.

    Great selection for your pot on the Brazilian raintree. May it continue to grow well for you. Glad to see that you are using Shirley's shelf. I bought one (since seeing it on your video) for my orchids. Best investment I ever made. An excellent product! Your place is looking GREAT! (Any update on the concrete for the new greenhouse? Perhaps I missed a video.

    I have a question about the tar you put on the benches. So this seems to be quite nice because of the daily watering but does it flake off in hot degrees or full sun?

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  3 роки тому

      It doesn't seem to flake off, it soaks into the wood really well, it the heat it gets a bit tacky, but not too much!

    Would it be safe to do in to bonsai soil at this stage (size and season wise)? And if yes, any specific preference for bonsai soil? Location 7b-NY. Thank you.

    Why don't you wire the trees into their pots?

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  3 роки тому +2

      I don't like wire marks on the roots and I prefer to use rocks to hold the tree in place, you can feel how the roots are doing by testing the tree for wiggling.

    I'm afraid, your big jade might not make it. Dropping shrivelled shoots and shrivelled bark may be signs of root rot or a dead trunk. The big wounds could have caused dehydration, it just seems too bad. But let's keep hoping for the best. Jades are quite resilient afterall...
