  • The Island City-State of #Singapore in south east Asia, is an economic miracle. In less then one generation, the government of Singapore turned the impoverished country at the tip of the Malacca Strait into a Global #Economy, home to one of the largest financial centers and arguably the most important logistics hub in the world.
A huge part of Singapore's population lived in slums in the 1960's, whereas today, Singaporeans boast the second highest GDP per capita in the world. The transition in less then 70 years from being a developing to being a developed nation can be drawn back to high levels of foresight of the Authoritarian Government around their first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. Singapore has leveraged its geographical position in the Malacca strait and centered a large part of its economy around serving the international maritime trade. Focusing on semi conductor manufacturing in the 1980's and several other initiatives of Singapore's government, led to this rapid increase of wealth, and today, Singapore stands stronger than ever on the world stage.

Singaporean's have the 6th highest net financial assets per capita out of any country. While obviously not every single citizen is rich, singaporean's can be generalized as wealthy compared to other nations
