Having the children farm carrots in a safe greenhouse is actually a good idea in the post apocalypse. They are surrounded by defenses, away from any wanderers that could pull a gun on someone, have difficult but not abusive work that helps the settlement while strengthening their bodies for the dangers they will face as they grow older, I don't know a better thing to do. And should the worst happen, they will have the tools seeds and expertise needed to grow food.
Juan Noriega Seriously, people are STILL commenting on this? [redacted due to inaccuracy under regulation 1204 of the Ministry of Love], but it's not like the children are slaves. Children doing farm work on a farm isn't anything new. Everyone chips in. Having them chip in while in the heavily fortified greenhouse, with all the tools they need to keep themselves alive until minutemen reinforcements arrive should the worst happen to the adults, is a blessing in a setting as dangerous as Fallout.
I quoted Bullet, who will say that when he tries to buy Billy from you. You'd know that if you... you know, played the game(I think only two people actually noticed).
Tri Tebs you’d think they’d recognize you after you spent hours building the settlement and clearing out the ghouls, raiders, or super mutants for them haha
And in some settlements after you kill everybody some loot will still count as stealing, so your new settlers will get mad at you for “stealing” something that you own, then you have to kill your new settlers, lookin at you *covenant*

I'm definitely loving the ramshackle look of the place and how chintzy all the decorations happen to be. All those alien turrets are oddly distracting. I bet the Gunners are wondering what's with all the Halloween decorations before they get disintegrated! LOVE IT!
I really like the wooden shack complex. Space efficient and self-contained. Perfect living environment for an apocalyptic society. Edit: I'd love to see builds of modded settlement locations.
hey Oxhorn idk if you'll see this but will you be doing raider-themed settlement builds? I'd love to see what you can come up with to give me some inspiration
Yeah, there are attacks generated via spawn points, but other attacks can come from different locations, usually a random encounter that wanders. Red Rocket gets regularly attacked by enemies that spawn at that dock on the lake near Sanctuary. Fortunately, two of the regular spawns are in a position near that attack route so if you put a bunch of defenses near those points your turrets at those points can engage them.
I am very impressed with the build! Like, it's 12:10a as of the moment, and I have class in 7 hours, but I kept watching this video because I was really impressed. It makes me wanna use Thematic and Practical, if only it doesn't conflict with any of my mods. Really good job!
Watching these videos makes me really depressed, because I'm not even half as creative and patient as you, so my settlements tend to look like utter crap.
Ay, don't feel bad. Try and take inspiration from our friendly neighborhood oxhorn here. I tend to watch his vids when I'm feeling creatively stagnant.
A quick look on the wiki shows iguanas and squirrels both survived the war and are weak enough they are a safe source of food. Brahmin can stampede, ragstag can gore you, yao-gui are a very bad idea, don't even think about deathclaw, if you don't like on the cost both are decent sources of protein. Other than that, potatoes. Humans can live on potatoes, milk and butter. An extended experiment was conducted on the matter.
Also, while I believe that horses are extinct in Fallout north america, I can't see any reason people couldn't ride a Brahmin, other than underusing their vast carrying capacity. :)
Oxhorn, I would really love to see you do something with the Conquest mod. there are tons of cool places that would make neat settlements. I'd also be interested to see you use the basement living mod in conjunction with conquest, you know, have a settlement that is equipped with its own privet underground bunker. Anyhow, awesome build, as always. thx for the video. your settlements always give me so many ideas for my own.
i have only recently gotten off to a serious start. I've only been playing for about 4 hours, but i play in a true meandering, rpg style. I've only just entered Sanctuary Hills. Thank you for taking the time to make, and share these.
Boy, if just there were a way to get someone to play with you (therefore making it multiplayer) and I could just get someone like Oxhorn come on and build my settlements for me.
I really appreciate the way you edit on screen what mods are being used, that and having a mod list and mods showed in the video put in the description. Your videos are always of high quality :D
I had the same idea and built one myself and had to hand place every detail since I play on ps4 without mods(obviously lmao) but I would love to see what someone can do with mods!
I am really surprised I had never seen your channel before, but, I just recently binge watched about 20 something of your vids. I'm glad I finally found someone who enjoys settlements and the Minutemen as much as me! (All my friends immediately jumped on the 'eff Preston' train and joined the Raiders at Nuka-World) One thing that I think would be cool and sort of 'mod only' without being too outlandish would be a sort of secondary Minuteman outpost/bunker arrangement. As it is, due to the problems with putting down decorations and the lack of faction decor you basically only have The Castle as a reasonable Minuteman themed place. My basic idea would be to either use the Conquest mod or your choice of pre-existing settlement and build a cement bunker arrangement for shelter/training/military purposes. Overall, pretty simple in the mod department (as you don't have to try and find a mod that gives you a space house or some silliness) and it fits in with your general (hah) dedication to the Minutemen throughout your builds. Thanks for doing what you do!
alot of us were hoping to see you make a gorey blood puddle of a settlement for the Raiders to see what you can do when it comes to being Evil and dark. we already know that you make bomb-ass settlements for the minute-men but we wanna see something a lil different.
+Oxhorn Sweetness, Either way your great dude. I love what you build. Long Live Bethesda, Hope Fallout New Orleans is a real thing cause id like to see what we can all do with that.

in Fallout (1), there's a shop in the Hub called "Iguana Bob" and it sells "Iguana bits" and related products. If you dig deeper, you find out the source for "Iguana bits/meat" comes from doctor up in Junktown who chops up humans and sell them to Iguana Bob.
Speaking of minutemen too bad u cant keep their airship for the minutemen like a mobile hospital and trading center. Imagine the minutemens influence spreading across the old US like the capital wasteland the mohjave etc. Just a thought.
Sorry but at 28:16 the billiard rack is facing the wrong direction. One tip of triangle towards empty side of table. Nitpicky, but my brain needed the sweet release of a UA-cam comment.
Hey ox, I just wanted to let you know I'm not a big fan of watching others build things but I've subscribed and continue to follow your videos. You seem like a genuinely good person - something the world could use a lot more of. The way you speak and convey your thoughts is very compelling, so I just wanted to give you some credit for all of your hard work. Awesome content, friend. Content like the toy maker story tells me you have a bright future ahead of you.
That being said very well designed Oxy I really would like to be able to make these settlements but then actually try your hand at attacking other players settlements sounds like a great foundation for a whole new game.
I found out that there are two kind of spawn points: 1) quest attack spawn points when you have help defend quest (the one spawn point you see) 2) attack spawn points for random attacks when you are actually in the settlement
I was disappointed when I found out a red rocket in the middle of nowhere was the only settlement and really would have thought it would've been nuka town USA or one of the parks
not sure if it's been mentioned before, there's a gunners house (it was gunners for me) close to that Red Rocket (where your attackers came from) , walk up towards Commonwealth side on your map and a bit to the right, i witnessed a fued there first... gunners vs.. i forget who it was exaclty but remember thinking, dang that's close to Red Rocket...
You were complaying about randome spawned gunners in the beginning, they dont spawn randome at all, they spawn up the hill where the highway is in this little house and its near enough that they can just walk over if they get triggered by a settler.
Maybe, but I don't think so. I've seen the gunners up the hill, but I believe the settlement is too far away for random patrols from them to agro. It's totally possible though.
i've had them attack my settlement here too, i think it's something like they'll follow settlers around or something else can shoo them towards your settlement
Hey Ox have you thought of ever doing something like a military build character or settlement before? Can't forget all the people who are crazy enough to buy military grade weapons and materials in prep for the bombs falling. If not boom new idea! Keep up the great videos man :)
WOW! your settlements are usually brilliant, this one goes beyond that! im inspired now! once i (finally!) get to power play quest and beyond i cant wait to build here! btw is the build area bigger than starlight? looks it! now to hunt mods lol but again, extremely well done! (when can i move in? lol) as to mods to make more settlements... definitely! that would be ace! talking of settlements, i know this is an insaine request, but could you put your vids of your settlements into collections of, say, 4? so you could put sanctuary, aberthney, red rocket (outside sanctuary), starlight into one, then others into others? (bar the vault! thats ace on its own!) the idea been that we can watch each batch together in one go and be inspired to go beyond just "build it, get settlers in, leave it" with very little care to making them special! of course, an easier way may be playlists btw anyhow, now im totally inspired... settlement rebuilding is about to start! lol cheers oxhorn!
not sure if oxhorn knows this now or not but the reason he got attacked at the spot he mentioned is cause a little ways southish of that spot is one of the 'cross fire' locations. ive had raiders and gunners fighting each other there before a few times, lol one time the settlers even ran up with me and helped me kill them XD
I was touring the wastes West of Nuke world, and happened upon a small settlement, populated by 2 people. They were dressed like raiders and were very gruff with me, only one of them trading a limited list of goods. I remember it was walled and reminded me of a junkyard with a shack. I saw a settlement crafting station, but could not interact with it. Finding out that the Red Rocket (on the East side of Nuka World) was not available as a settlement until after the power was turned on, I thought maybe this one might be the same way. However, I don't recall seeing any videos, where you discuss this particular place, and think that perhaps you have missed it. I know this message is 3 years late, but, should you find the time, I'd appreciate it if you looked for it, and tried to find out how it gets activated. Thanks, Ox.
Incredible details on everything..... The pool table is racked backwards, was that on purpose? Like the Swatter for beating your component to death in baseball.
Automatron has a quest at the end where you rescue a settler from robots. You can then send that settler to any settlement without cap limits applying.
Ahhhh so many great mods (sigh) Manny in the green car gettin a lil frisky lol Settlers attracted to the toilets? That just sounds wrong lol Great job looks awesome
Some cool ideas, but I I turned my Nuka-World Red Rocket into a Minutemen camp, like I did by Far Harbor settlements. Like I station my Minutemen to over watch the park and island to maintain the peace.
I put missle turrets on the roofs of all my buildings and nothing lives if they get close. I was attacked by 8 gunners once, three of them were in power armor and they spawned in close to 6 of my turrets and it was like watching D-Day at Normandy, it was all over in seconds and those clowns just got wrecked.

Thanks, Ox.
I think your "Medic" there could afford to visit the clothing store.
That's not just any bird. That's a synth watcher
I wish they had workshops in each of the different zones so you could choose any one of them to be your player home.
There's mod for that.
Incredible details on everything..... The pool table is racked backwards, was that on purpose? Like the Swatter for beating your component to death in baseball.
Sees two doors that say enter exit
*Goes through the exit door*
Automatron has a quest at the end where you rescue a settler from robots. You can then send that settler to any settlement without cap limits applying.
Yeah I made a video on that: ua-cam.com/video/ZrA-MfUgixo/v-deo.html
Ahhhh so many great mods (sigh) Manny in the green car gettin a lil frisky lol Settlers attracted to the toilets? That just sounds wrong lol Great job looks awesome
I use a mod called USO Integrated. A lot of the stuff in your settlement videos are in this one mod. The Minutemen moral, animation mats, cars, etc.
Some cool ideas, but I I turned my Nuka-World Red Rocket into a Minutemen camp, like I did by Far Harbor settlements. Like I station my Minutemen to over watch the park and island to maintain the peace.
It's wastelander beautiful!
I put missle turrets on the roofs of all my buildings and nothing lives if they get close. I was attacked by 8 gunners once, three of them were in power armor and they spawned in close to 6 of my turrets and it was like watching D-Day at Normandy, it was all over in seconds and those clowns just got wrecked.
there are other market tables you just have to upgrade your cap colector perk and possibly the born leader
3:52 Sacrilege! You entered through the exit door! Those signs were a waste of good scrap ;)
27:07 proof cheaters never win
Make a lived in/revisit to Hangman's Alley. I think it would be cool to build there as now you have elevators and good decor.
A settlement mod I would like to see on here is called The Commune. Its a nice little church style set up with some interesting features in it ;)
the poster of an attack of the 50ft women was actully a movie I have seen posters of it before fallout 4 became a thing
If I were able to locate exact spawn points in my settlements, I'd build a wall around it and post turrets along the top of it.
