  • Bought a John Deere F935 at auction the other day. It's amazing how many hours you can put on one of these small Yanmar engines. I will be doing an operational video in a few days.

    That F935 might have been the rare unit that was operated and maintained by one or two people over its life with the municipality and been well cared for.

      Yes, I’ve noticed that the smaller cities or ones with a smaller workforce tend to maintain their equipment a little better. I think once you get to a larger city there is less care given, more tax dollars = less thriftiness.

      Just a matter of keeping your eyes open. This is the fourth F935 that has been for sale in the area in the last 3 months.

    Just bought a f1145 with 5600 hours. Starts, runs, and mows like a dream.

    I would love to get my hands on one of these to mow my lawn with someday. Maybe even an F915 or F925 if I can find one, but those are much less common.

      Over the years I have seen very few F915 and F925 units. The few that I have seen are in much worse condition than the F935 units. I wonder if that has to do with price and buyer?

    Are more issues had with machines that have larger decks besides just being related to normal deck maintenance? I think you said this one was 72 or 74".

      not good if cant get no parts thats why love kubotas they keep parts for the newer ones and still carrys parts for older models as well wich is nice

      I have not noticed any less issues with smaller decks. The driveshaft problems (I think) are often times related to lack of maintenance. Most F935 units had the 72” side discharge deck. Most likely due to the being the highest HP offering at the time. The maintenance is more expensive due to the larger components (belts, pulleys and a few other things are larger than the 60” side discharge). I might do a video on this question giving my experience, it’s a really good question.

      As far as I know you can get most major parts for this machines. There are some you cannot get but most important ones are available. They are getting to the point that aside from consumables, most owners probably are not going to pour $1,000+ dollars into new parts. I can’t blame Deere for opting not to keep all parts on the books for a machine that last rolled off the assembly line 20+ years ago. All in all, I’ve always found Deere to have great support, not many companies have parts for a machine from 1958.

    Show some mowing with the F935

      If we get rain and need to mow I will. Right now there isn’t much mowing to be done other than knocking selective parts of the yard down due to weeds

    Do you know if the 7 iron from a 1445 would work with the f935 lift arms?

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  3 роки тому

      Directly no. The arms for the decks between the F series and the 14/1500 series are different. The pins on the F series draft arms are vertical and the 14/1500 series are horizontal. I am also unsure if the angles and length for the mounting brackets are different.

    R.i.p to my 2008 x720 today. 3600 hours all original starter, radiator, hoses, everything, PTO clutch went out and John Deere wants 4600$ to rebuild it or 6900$ from a new one. Don't know what I'm gonna end up doing now eventually get a new one money doesn't flow like it used to.

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  3 роки тому +5

      You can pick up a used transaxle for less than $1,000. A local mower shop should be able to install it for you. You can also rebuild the PTO clutch pack yourself. There is an individual doing that on mytractorforum.com . If you don’t mind spending some time rolling around on the floor I bet you can get your X720 back in service for less than $1200.

    Good find! Do both of the fuel tanks and the switcher for the fuel tanks work?

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  3 роки тому

      Yes, there is a shut off valve like the 318 that allows you to select a tank to pull from. On the “lesser” models the second tank was an accessory.

    9:00 the tractor does have a uj3 the 3 is just hard to see

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  3 роки тому

      Correct the 455 does have the UJ3, the F935 does not. Which based on the research I have done (using CTM3) since I made the video the F935 never came with a UJ3 at least that I can tell, but I have more work to do on this.
