- This week's video is a bit of a different #fridaysews because I decided to talk about my January Makes and February Plans. January was a very good month in the sewing room, but I wanted February to be low key so I've got a pretty short list.

Ooo lots of good plans ahead how exciting can't wait 😊😊😊
It was a very good month, indeed! The dress for Project-Dress-a-Girl is just adorable!!! It really is fun to sew for little girls. The fabric for the knit pants is so pretty, too - ok, you're ready for February! I did a Valentine's Day table runner and am working on 8 pillowcases for my neighbor's charity - finished a heavy fleece jacket to wear inside that covers my backside so I'm nice and warm in our cold house 🥶!
A fleece jacket for the house sounds a lot cuter than the electric blanket I’ve been wrapping myself into all week 😂 I want to make a Valentine’s Day craft with my Cricut machine this week - I’m just itching to decorate with pink and red. A table runner sounds really fun though. 💞
The lucky recipients of your project dress a girl dresses! ❤
you had a great January! love all of your makes and looking forward to seeing your Feb plans come to life.
Thank you! Fingers crossed Marianne likes the Think Pink fabric this month!
Hey Hun… I’m impressed with what you have gotten up to for Jan.
I’m remaking a linen Fernbirn cause I might have ‘binned’ the others 😂😂😂
❤❤
Wonderful makes, as always, Izzy! Great idea to combine the subscription box make and Marianne’s “payment”. The pottery class sounds so fun! Can’t wait to hear all about it, and see your completed plans! I love the style of that sweatsuit you’ll be making! 💗
Thank you Andra! Marianne and I had an absolute ball at the pottery class. Neither one of us is very good just yet, but we loved it.
Love the pdag dresses, a young girl is going to love it❤
Ooo sassy sweatpants! 🔥 Can't wait to see those and I love that burgundy fleece. Your collab with Christine sounds so much fun, can't wait to see what you two have been up to.
Have a great time at your Pottery class this weekend, pictures please!!
❤xxx
Don’t you just love the name of that pattern too? It immediately made me think I would look super cute and sassy in those trousers 😂 I’m so excited about the pottery class and I’ll make sure to take as many photos as the teacher will allow! Xx 💞
January was a good month for my sewing. In addition to finishing & hanging my 2024 temperature quilt, I managed to make 3 LN Sloan tops, 2 LN North Star hoodies for hubby, 1 PDAG dress and yesterday I made the Closet Core floor pouf/footstool and I love how it turned out. I try to be very sustainable in my sewing and the pouf was made from scrap upholstery fabric I had and completely stuffed with scraps of cotton from my sewing over the past 2 years…I save all cuts from garments and quilts that would usually just go in the garbage and when I have enough to ‘stuff something’ I use the scraps. February plans so far are light, but I want to make some pajamas and at least one more PDAG dress.
Wow I am really impressed with your January!
I’m excited to see your collabs in February! It sounds like it’ll be a fun month 🤗
It is going to be fun!
I can’t wait for the video to come out next week and Christine and I have already had so much fun planning our video.
Oh you were quite productive for January. I’m hoping I can get back into the swing of sewing real soon. Just as soon as I heal though I be needing to get ready for our month trip in April to go see family. My grandchildren called me today to wish me Happy Birthday. I told them to get ready to go shopping in April. I got lots of cheering. I just can’t imagine minus 20. It was in 50’s but very windy and I was a bit grumpy. I hope you enjoyed your pottery class. Here’s to being productive in February and most important just enjoying the craft.
Happy birthday!!
… love your January makes Izzy 👏🏼👏🏼💙‼️.. I also spent January making lounge jogging wear that I can wear out while running errands , wide legged jogging pants with a pin tuck down the front leg .. then I used the Lisa lounge wear top it’s an off the shoulder top which elevates the look , but I also made a page hoodie crew neck with the bottom ballon sleeves .. all in matching army green ( I am a deep autumn ) French terry and I just love love love it .. ‼️‼️.. I am trying to focus on making more of the stuff I truly wear and reach for vs just making patterns just because , or getting frozen with making nothing because I think that it has to always be complicated .. nothing better then a fabulous pair of jogging pants quick easy sew and massive wearability 👍🏼👍🏼‼️‼️.. this weekend I will sew my nepheline blouse .. and for February cut out my first trench coat , and go from there .. hugs xoxox Monica 💙💙💙
I so completely hear you on trying to make stuff we actually love wearing. My head is always so full of “shoulds” about my sewing… I should make this or I should make that. But really, what I wear most are knit pants. Why don’t I just make myself some cute comfy knit pants?! Oh I’m excited about your Nepheline blouse!! Do you know what I did today? I bought some gorgeous burgundy wool coating from Blackbird Fabrics to make myself a coat next Fall. I cannot wait to get myself immersed in making a coat!! Have a good weekend!! 💞
@ … ooooo that’s so exciting 👏🏼👏🏼💙‼️.. a beautiful burgundy coat sounds amazing ., and anything I’ve ever ordered from blackbird is always top quality … 👌🏼… have a beautiful weekend Izzy 🥰🥰🥰💙💙💙‼️‼️
I really like that PDAG dress! Was bright, fun fabric. I will one day make a summer dress for myself using ideas from Alyssa's pattern. Yes to seeing Marianne in the pretty skirt! I'm looking forward to seeing the results of your collaboration with Carole. - Kelly
So funny because when I finished the little dress, I thought to myself “I should try and figure out how to make one of those for me” 😂 They are so cute aren’t they? I hope you like the collab video with Carole - we had a ball working together on them.
Hi Izzy, you’ve had a bumper start to 2025 😊 You’ve almost reached 5,000 subscribers 🎉 Fingers crossed for you that maybe by next week you will have reached it 🤞
Thank you so much! I really am getting so close! 🤞
Love a good pair of comfy pants! I’m about to try the Yoggers from petite stitchery, fingers crossed they come out good! Have a great weekend, Izzy! ❤❤❤
Let me know how they turn out - you can never have too many knit pants patterns! 😂 Have a good weekend! 💞
I am lucky if I make one thing a month :) COngrats for January ! I was inspired by your knit pants thoughts and have made a wide legged pair of heavy french terry sweat pants, from a basic Simplicity pattern. THey turned out beautifully :) The construction is the same as the Arden Pants Helen's Closet, (pockets). so I feel much more confident about sewing them now. They were cut out last spring and I was too nervous to start. I have a new way to plan and have bought a weekly diary book. I am frustrated when I see so little finished, but as I fill in anything I do in my sewing room, i see how MUCH time I take to decide, and then start something. I try to fill in 20 min a day with a detail that moves me forward, instead of trying to have a 2-3 hour time slot . And Voila, my new sweat pants. I will try to keep that process moving. I always watch your videos for inspiration Thanks :).
Congrats on the finished pants! Sounds like you found a great strategy to keep making progress. Thank you so much for watching and for supporting me the way you do. xx
Where I live in the Houston, Texas area, we get very few days of cold weather. It will be in the 80’s next week. Yet, I still have lots of winter fabrics to sew. I will be making the Cassia knit top by Style Arc this week.
It sounds like you’re going to have a very comfortable week!
You are inspiring me to get a dress made for PDAG! I have one started using the Thoughtful Creativity Sept 2024 pattern; yours came out beautifully!
Thank you! Those dresses are so fun and quick to make. I’ve been searching through my stash for more cotton fabrics and I think I found a few so I’m super excited. 😂
I love pottery but it's one craft I won't be doing due to sensory issues. I can't wait to see what you make!!
I’m really excited about the class. It’s funny though because I cannot stand to have dirty hands (my mom tells me I’ve been like that since I was a very small child) so this should be interesting 😂
Hi Izzy! Nice to see you here on Friday again, and lovely hearing about your plans - ooo colabs 😁 I'm looking forward to what you and Christine are cooking up.
I just wrapped up my January with IG mymakesforthemonth post, and am thinking about the 2 things I want for Feb. One will be jeans/pants for sure. I was able to finish up 6 or 7 bonus things (thank you knits!). Excited about the C & N Den Jacket for sure, too, as I've got everything I need now to work on that. Have a great weekend!!
Christine and I have been having such a fun time working on our collab. I think it’s going to be a really good one. I’m excited to see your new jacket when it’s done!! Have a good weekend!
Wow Izzy, you accomplished quite a bit! And you have lots planned for February. I am excited to see your upcoming collaborations for sure! Seems like I made so many muslins in January. But I did complete a Sinclair Chloe top, PE Urban pants, LN Camp Shirt and finally a Chorus Dress! Working on a PE Smitten jacket next🤞.
Your Chloe/Urban outfit was fabulous - I just loved that colour on you so much. I don’t recall seeing your Chorus dress. Did you post that one yet? You are such a talented sewist!
Great makes on January. I struggle with the resolution bottoms as well. I may have to try the urban pants, although I need to get some dress pants figured out. We have to return in office 5 days a week starting Feb 12th after having 4 days a week of telework for years before Covid. Hope you are having a great time at pottery class today!
Wow 5 days back in the office sounds pretty brutal to be honest. I thought 3 days were rough!
@I am thinking the same thing. I am a US federal employee and it was mandated by the new president. I will survive, but definitely will be an adjustment to this body! And my pups!
Lucky Marianne!! Will you adopt me? I will work for free garments!😂 kudos to you for getting the ball rolling on PDAG! I still cant get over 20 BELOW! I cant even fathom it. Have a great weekend! Look forward to your collabs!!!❤
I will absolutely adopt you! Come on up! It’s been so darn cold Trish. Every year, I’m finding it harder and harder to leave the house when it’s so cold. Have a good weekend! Xx 💞
Where is the "Dress a Girl "site for 🇨🇦?
Hi - Shari from Practical Stitches (on UA-cam) is an ambassador for Canada. I work with her every year.
I finished my Love Notions Arlington dress in a cozy French terry. I am going to do a forward shoulder adjustment and try the cowl neck version in my green cable knit. Right now we are on a road trip to Florida so there won't be any sewing until late next week.
Safe travels - hope you get some warm weather!!
