- Enoch was just introduced as the captain of Thrawn's guard in the latest episode of Ahsoka. We don't know much about him, but as a Star Wars Legends fan, I'm already speculating on his storytelling potential for the future of this series and the rest of the Star Wars universe.

Thinking about a zombie army just takes me back to Bendu's prophetic words about many arms surrounding Thrawn in a cold embrace. We already saw it with the purrgil, but it could be neat if that line had multiple layers

I feel like Enoch's just going to be a cool looking guy. He's there to be Thrawn's second in command and stand out from everyone else just so that the audience knows he's important. To what extent, I don't know, but it could go as far as what you're suggesting, or he could be as about as inconsequential as say Phasma ended up being. For now, he's just a cool looking guy, and I like him.
I find it hard to believe that Filoni would repeat the Captain Phasma problem. I guess we'll see.

The mask was really weird but cool. Hopefully it has meaning knowing Thrawn loves art.
It reminds me of Roman helmets, like the Emesa helmet and the Nijmegen helmet.
I think its fitting because of how they're in another galaxy. Some surrealness to it just like with "A long, long, time ago" being uttered in-universe for the first time.
I hope it is revealed Thrawn made the mask himself. Such a show of dedication to his "followers" would earn him the loyalty of many.
Of course, I don't expect it, but it'd be cool.

Maybe Enoch turned up with it one day, and Thrawn spent the next few hours analysing it (that was the greatest day of Enoch’s life).
A fairly big name actor (Wes Chatham) in the role makes me think he's the only one left really alive other than Thrawn himself. Which also makes we'll see him unmasked at some point, perhaps in a fight with one of our Jedi or associates.
I'll be interested for the BTS stuff to see if it's really Chatham under the helmet or if he just voiced it, i.e. Pascal in Mando ssn 3.
It’s Wes Chatham?! I hope we see more of him then because he is such an incredible actor, especially as Amos in the Expanse.
i think is hard to say if Wes will be showing his face because stormtroopers almost don't have their face shown. (Even at times when notable actors like Jason Sudeikis, Daniel Craig, Tom Hardy had don trooper armor for cameo roles).

@@lemonynora I feel Enoch works in the same capacity as Phasma ( a high ranking trooper). Phasma did not remove her helmet outside of the promotion material. I think the idea of trooper specifically empire or first order not having helmet removal is for there not to be individual stand out in a unit.(I think they are look at as faceless goons for empire and first order) I do remember in Mandalorian, a couple tank troopers had their helmet off at the mess hall so it’s possible they let Wes show his face but we will see.
Enoch might also be a reference to the classic mythological epic of Ben 10
I think the Nightsisters are meant to be the replacement for C'Baoth and not the Noghri. A (group of) force user(s) who use their power to augment and coordinate Thrawn's army.
I think it's still possible for Baylan to be the replacement for C'Baoth; not a clone, but still looking for _something_ mystical we haven't seen yet, that he thinks will change the whole galaxy.

As someone who grew up a fan of both Star Wars and Ben 10, I never expected to encounter a second armoured guy called Enoch sporting a golden mask shaped like a face.

Dude this is exactly what I was thinking! After the episode with Enoch I was explaining to my family how he is similar to the Ben 10 character. They had no idea what I was talking about 😂
@@frankieiero6859 I know he worked on Avatar the Last Airbender and that's largely what gained him George Lucas' attention. I looked at Dave's resumé and don't see anything for Ben 10. Ben 10 was at Cartoon Network, but Dave spent most of his time at Nick.
The name Enoch is fitting for Thrawns captain of his troops as the Hebrew name for Enoch, חנוך (chanoch), comes from the root חנך (chinuch) which means to train.
Filoni is tricky. Enoch has a Biblical name and we expect characters with Biblical names to be good guys -- Ezra, Kanan (Canaan), Luke, Han (a familiar form of Johan/John), etc -- but there are classically-named characters who are good: Hera, Jacen (Jason), Kallus (his first name was Alexsandr) and plenty of characters with no mythological reference to them on eother side.
You do know that Hera is the name of a greek goddess, right? Also, there's Jason the Argonaut from Greek mythology and Alexander the Great, the Macedonian. I kinda thought of these as references for the characters, the first time I heard the names in Rebels.

Enoch looks awfully cool and all, but I admit I’m not so secretly dreaming of a scenario where Eli Vanto and/or Admiral Ar'alani make an appearance! They were my absolute favorite characters from the canon Thrawn trilogies, and I’m super curious to know what they’re up to now.
Could you imagine if Enoch was actually Eli wearing that armor? It could potentially work, since at the end of thrawn treason, he's going with ar'alani to continue their work for the ascendancy (along with Ronan which would be interesting if he appears). Once Eli feels he's served his duty, and after the destruction of the first death star, he embarks to inform thrawn , only to find out that thrawn has been taken out of the picture for a while. Then after the events of the second death star blowing up, Eli manages to locate thrawn and they together share whats happened. Thrawn commends Eli further for his promotion to lieutenant commander, and gives him the armor and a new position.
Maybe even Vah'nya tagged along with Eli, and had enough experience aboard the steadfast to help with the crew on the chimaera . I'd assume that ar'alani would still be able to contact them from that distance about grysk threats or emerging dangers, and might make an appearance for some scene where the chimaera receives transmissions or something
@@joeljohnson9371 I like your proposed head canon here! I'm sure there's a way they could make it work if they were so inclined! I would personally be pulling for Eli / Ar'alini to come to Thrawn, and be like hey, when did it start being okay to target civilians? I thought you were better than this. Are you sure you know what you're doing working with these witches?? I don't know, I liked Thrawn seemingly more pure motives in the canon Thrawn trilogies, and I hope we see at least some of that strong sense of morality present in his character in this timeline. While I loved seeing him in Rebels (and have also read all the now Legends novels with Thrawn), I find him a more compelling character when he's portrayed as more morally steadfast (if politically aloof).
I want Ar’alani in canon so bad. It would be cool just to see another Chiss.
@@chrishealton3830 I assume you mean presented in the canon of non-book media, because she was (as I understand it) introduced first in the canon Thrawn trilogies written by Timoth Zahn (both the first new trilogy and Ascendancy trilogy). Those are considered canon.

I personally believe that Enoch is the last commanding and living stormtrooper in Grand Admiral Thrawn’s army as while his armor has gold plating to cover up the damages, he is missing the red bandages that all of the other night troopers have.
He has red fabric on his undersuit.
I do believe he’s alive though as he does converse.
@@sentinel-wraith9060 yes he wears the red fabric undersuit but he doesn’t have any of the bandages tied around him and his armor isn’t as dirty as the others. It’s still not factory fresh or in pristine condition but he looks a lot more in one piece then the rest. And yeah him being able to talk more fluently makes me believe he is more alive than dead

In the Book of Enoch (the non canonical Bible book you mentioned) the Angels engage in a war against the Watchers, the original fallen angels, lead by Samyaza. If Filoni wanted to pull inspiration from that work, it would be interesting if a splinter group splits off from Thrawns command later on, causing a civil war between imperial remnants.
There could also be Imperial remnant forces who don't swear allegiance to Thrawn and so there is a fight there.

Also there is a book of the original texts called ‘The Book of Enoch’ but it was removed from the modern bibles due to how much it reads like a fantasy novel. It’s where a lot of the ‘fallen angel’ mythology comes from. A group of angels supposedly came down and took woman as wives (suggested not always by choice) which created the discussion of Nephilim (half angel half humans) who were said to be giant and ate the bones of men. It’s actually an interesting read if you’re into that kind of thing.
This comment took me down the biggest wikipedia rabbit hole.
Although, there are actually 4 different versions of the Book of Enoch that have been discovered, which have several differences between each of them.
My only problem so far with Enoch is that they cast the fantastic Wes Chatham and then covered up his glorious face. Don't get me wrong, the helmet is a vibe, I just wanna see Wes act the crap out of a scene. His performance in The Expanse is top tier.
Speaking of learning about his opponents, I'd like to see Thrawn's art gallery in the next episode. Even if its just an easter egg.

Is it significant that Enoch is wearing modified First Order armor? Isn't this the first chronological appearance of that style of trooper armor?

Some of the Night Trooper could be Night Brothers. Its strange that we have seen only three Night Mothers. Are there more Witches? I mean its a Planet and there are more people it seems but its still a bit strange.
We need more rometroopers like Enoch.
I think Enoch is just there to look like a badass. And I hope they are not going to finish Thrawn with a betrayal like in legends. He's such a cool character, he deserves to be defeated properly by the heroes, like he was in Rebels. Besides, I prefer it if Star Wars legends remains for the most part legends. Its fine if elements get reintroduced, but not plot beats. So far Disney has done just that, so I think its safe to assume they will do the same here.
Though it is fun to see lore channels speculating wildly about what obscure legends villain Ahsoka is supposedly going to reintroduce and probably be wildly wrong about it.
After been defeated by Ben Tennyson, Enoch quit the Forever Knights and joined the Galactic Empire
Oh man, I totally blocked the Forever Knights from my memory. I always found their episodes to be lackluster, I hated when they showed up, but I love this callback. Gave me a good laugh for a bit.

I like the idea that Trawn being the smart guy he is studied NightSister history and found out about their Magik and the ability of resurrection.
I got the same feeling seeing Enoch that I got when I saw first saw Boba Fett in Empire Strikes back. I was 6 years old. Star Wars is back.
He’s definitely inspired by Roman cavalry as well, that sort of helmet with a face plate was common to well renowned cavalry units. Just another way of cementing his position within thrawns command structure

You still missed the part about Enoch's entire city and its people going up to heaven with him, like how a certain Star Destroyer full of people was sent to a unknown galaxy.
To quote a villain from another franchise "Do you know the key strategical weakness of the Human Race? The dead outnumber the living." An undead army that can be raised over and over and have their numbers bolstered by fellow cadavers would allow the Empire to retake that numerical advantage, additionally as evidenced by Enoch's mannerisms the Nightsister version of reanimation allows the undead to retain personality. I can't help but compare the Night Troopers to the Death Troopers from Star Wars Legends, even the way Enoch looks back at the camera is similar to how the Stormtrooper did in that fan made trailer for the Legends book.

He sounded so much like Sam Witwer at first so I was excited for a possible starkiller(possibly another clone or new origins)introduction into canon but as soon as I found out it was Wes Chatham I was very dissapointed lol
Palpatine was seeking to cheat death. The Nightsisters have a way, but the best way was to infuse the spirit of the body. Palpatine engineered the acts of The Clone Wars specifically to give himself a "one up" on using that cloning process to perfect the creation of a clone of himself with a high M count. The issue for him was that the Jedi, through the acts of Obi-Wan, Anakin, Yoda, Mace, etc. forced him to speed up his plans. This led to Palpatine moving the cloning operation away from the Kaminoans. Anakin might have been an option as a vessel for him, except once scarred, he was forced to seek out other methods. Years in the future now, the Nightsisters, once exiled and cut off from this galaxy because at the time (Palpatine and Dooku thought they'd have no further use for their dark majick), Thrawn is relying on dark majick to keep himself safe. He is alive, though his forces, dwindling for what is still an unknown reason, have slowly become reanimated as a means to an end and a promise from Thrawn that he'll restore them to their glory since he's aware that Palpatine extinguished Jedi who were at odds with the Nightsisters methods of cheating death, seen as an abomination. Rather than study with them and learn dark secrets in order to prevent them, the Jedi took an "old testament" view of complete and utter destruction of anything "unholy" and that is why the Jedi were unable to see the darkness spreading. I believe Qui-Gon was looked down upon because he studied the "science" of the Force, which included M-counts which outside of his study weren't spoken about openly. Ultimately, his study led to him understanding part of the Living Force that kept him "alive" in a way that even Palpatine could not understand, since his study started and ended with the fascination of how the Great Mothers could conjure life among the dead. He got tunnel vision. We got our own History of the Galaxy, Parts One, Two, and Three.
This SHOULD be the story we're being told, but I'm afraid Disney and Lucasfilm aren't telling us this is what's happening and it's something far less creative and far less interesting.
I think that would be a dope Thrawn moment. Enoch goes to betray him in like a near perfect surprise attack but then Thrawn gets him first and goes something along the lines of “I’m disappointed, I expected better”

In the last Episode of Rebels there were 3 of Palpatines Guard on Thrawns Stardestroyer. They talked in an unknown language like Enoch and Cpt. Enoch is even wearing wearing a red undersuit under his armor.
They got burried under some rocks by ezra but maybe someone survived.
It’ll be interesting if he’s the new “Rukh” of Thrawn. As in, the role of being a loyal lapdog that becomes Thrawn’s undoing.
Now that Star Wars is branching in entirely different galaxies from the main "far far away" one, I'm thinking that it's probably time that we finally get a canon name for the Star Wars galaxy, like Middle-Earth, Westeros and Narnia are the names of the setting for The Lord of The Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, and the Chronacles of Narnia respectively. What do you think would be some good options?

Great video, I always like the insight into legends material; it's been so long since I read those books.
I kind of feel like Morgan Elsbeth might fill the Rukh role. I get the sense that meeting up with Thrawn after all these years didn't quite go the way she thought it would and I could see that build into a larger resentment as she realizes what he is.
I suppose we'll see in due time.
...or maybe, having lost his Rukh, Enoch is his Knight, Morgan is his Bishop, and Sabine is his Pawn.

i've read that apparently his name and face mask are both inspired by a character from ben 10, another show dave filoni worked on. theres also an enoch with a gold mask helmet and the mask is pretty much identical
Remember finale of season 2 Rebels, on the planet Malachor, the ancient Sith temple was actually a battle station that when activated it could destroy all life(?). Maul wanted to use the weapon to take revenge on his enemies. He wanted to destroy the Sith and the Jedi. Could something like that be on this planet too?
Baylen also wanted to end the cycle of Light and Dark, he could use a weapon like this to wipe out all the Sith and Jedi.
Ezra spoked to a ‘Pressence’ that revealed the function to the temple.
Maybe this planet is where the ‘Pressence’ originated?

Enoch is the new Marrock, face can’t be seen, heavily modulated voice, low hanging fruit for speculation on identity and importance, eventually will likely be revealed to be no big deal.
Also Enoch's name being biblical isn't really that much of a big deal either. Luke's name is also biblical, so was Gideon. Sometimes you just need a regular-sounding name, but not too mundane like a Eugene or Fred, and the bible's a good source of such names

I've seen Disney's only slasher film, Stay Alive (2006) a decade ago. It's underrated. Abeloth should look like Elizabeth Bathory, aka The Blood Countess.
It could be the angle of the camera but to me Enoch seems to be shorter than the other troopers. This either means he could be Luke Skywalker who was a little short to be a storm troopers ( I am joking) or that Enoch might not of been a Jango Fett derived clone trooper. I’m assuming all the others would of been clone troopers from the last episode of Rebels.
I got the idea they were clone troopers as well, especially with the scenes Anakin is showing Ahsoka of the clone bodies being removed on stretchers. I’m still not clear how so many of them would’ve ended up on Peridea, but maybe it’s a sort of purgatory. The thought of clone troopers being pawns once again made me tear up the first time I watched the series…
