Yeah I’d buy a few truck loads of gravel for the worst spots. Too bad we couldn’t have Andrew Camarata barge all the shale he’s got on his mountain to Marty T….Now that would be a Collaboration!!! I’m not sure how far Marty T is from a port but that sure would be epic.!!!
I suppose the good thing about the neighbors who share the driveway not chipping in is that you can ignore them when they complain that you didn't do it to their liking. If they pay in, then you'll have a requirement list of just how they'd want it. You're a good man, Marty.
Lived out the west of Auckland and all the roads were gravel as a kid I would watch these beasts dressing them roads all the time, it was just normal to see them on the roads around Newzealand.
Not trying to sound grim, but Marty IS the neighbour you want in the event of the great apocalypse, he can build free hydro power, fix all manner of mechanical faults, restore earth moving machinery, and is calm & resourceful under pressure... and make does in a rural setting, inventing tools & finding practical solutions. Onya mate!!
@@MartyT You should seriously have a talk with all of them over a few beers about making a co-fund that's purely for road maintenance (i'm unsure if it's exactly that way, but i heard there's funds that can be made specifically for certain purposes, and only the agreed needs allow the people tied to it to retrieve money). I can't imagine the satisfaction you get Marty. These machines were built for a purpose. You revived a old piece of equipment and put it back to work even if it's part time. That's like taking grandpa out of the nursing home for one last home project. If that machine was sentient you sure would have put a smile on its face to do an honest days work.
Too much soil and other rubbish... would have turned to mud on the next rainfall.... so better not spread on the roadway.... but means the ditches can carry more water. See Marty's next videos re how much rain actually fell.....

Ha! Brought back memories of 1964 when I was 8 and living on a cattle station near Cohuna in northern Victoria. Over several days a crew resurfaced the public gravel road for some 4/5 miles. Us kids couldn't wait to get home from school and watch the graders leveling. I liked the big old Cat dozer as well!
I live in the country, the snow plow don’t come here so the community got an older grander to do the job, we moved and I miss seeing it drive by, plowing snow with built on side blades with a sander (sprays sand on road)
I like how you all pull together to take care of your road. In the US we'd depend on the county to do that and they might show up once a year if that. Less on some roads. I ended up putting a grader cutting edge on the back of my mini van and grading one road that the county hardly ever grades despite the high traffic on it.
We have the same problem. Half a mile of shared road and no one but my family maintains it. We grate it, put rock on, dig ditches, blow pine needles off, and cut limbs over hanging it

Neighbors, a blessing or a curse. Should look after each other, however, doesn't work out that way. Today, two boaters in a ragged sailboat, no mast, ran out of fuel for their outboard on the river in front of my house. Got them some fuel, made them two shear pins for their tiny two-stroke motor prop as they had broken theirs and had no spares (the outboard looked a proper mess but started easily and ran, amazing little Yamaha). Help your fellow man as you did Marty. Good job.

Those graders with the chain drive and walking beams are just about unstoppable. Very cool to see the scarifier in action.
Scary Fire indeed 😁
Heh. Unstoppable perhaps, but a teensy spec in the fuel system doesn't half slow 'em down...
