The thing that makes this tank even more pain is the explosion happens at the back of the rocket (historical - so makes sense). So you don't have the full penetration. You need to hit roofs or light enough targets in a way that the explosion has a more concentrated effect. Pure misery!

You saw in the video spookston killing a B1 Ter in 2 correctly aimed hits. The werfer easily kills jumbos and panthers in one rocket, lol. You just have to know what you're doing, not blindly stumble around with no strategy.

Yes it was 3.3, i remember because i also bought it several years ago. It also entered the game with no reload of rockets, so you only had the 10 in the launcher.
For weapons that have immediate drop like this and the Sturmtiger, always preset your aiming crosshairs to at least 100 m to compensate for that drop so you don’t have to waste time cranking the barrel up.
I had mine always at 300 meters since you can quickly adjust aiming between 150m and 400m which most encounters, I really wish they change the scroll sens depend on vehicles
This and I also use a custom sight with more refined range markers. This vehicle is a dream to use. Only bad thing about is that reload is too slow on the capture point and even if you get the reload from the point you then need to do a normal reload to put those missiles into the launcher.
@@Frozander Rocket tanks like this one are hilarious in AB because you effectively have infinite ammo. That and you have range on enemy markers so you can rain terror on enemies long range with no direct line of sight.

You should play the T-80 (the ww2 one) I completely ignored it while grinding the Russian TT, but it's surprisingly good. I played it yesterday for the first time and it has great armour for a light tank (35mm sloped) plus it has the 45mm gun which still slaps at 2.3 If you get downtiered there's basically nothing the enemy can do

As a Panzerwagen 42 main player here some notes: Reloading in realistic battles (espcially when restocking ammo at a point is wayyyyyy too long, litterally an entire minute) It's alot more fun in Arcade battles (ammo restocking takes like 20 seconds) Due to the rocket drop-off you must calculate an additional 30-50m when firing (example: Enemy is 300m away and you aim at 350) Hitting the upper part of enemy tanks deal the most damage You can take down planes with the MG42 ontop but more effective upto 1km range It's better suited as a long-range vehicle, and utilizing covers of rocks The turret slewing rate is pretty slow so you must rotate the car alot when an enemy comes near you, prefire some rockets to destroy the tracks and finish him off Don't try to engage in places where you can get attacked by multiple sides You can kill higher BR tanks aswell (upto 8.0 BR), but need to be more careful and experienced Majority of enemys are 300-500m away You can attack heavy tanks but most of the time it will just destroy their tracks, so its better to let your teammates finish them off. Due to how the rockets work, you need to use your MG to destroy any trees or obstacles in your way or you just waste rockets. An average enemy takes 3 rockets to kil, 1 if ur lucky
A big pet peeve of mine is with the zero on these rocket tanks, if you set it to 100m on most of them, the rocket will fly straight for that whole distance so you can use it normally, gaijin literally made them artificially aimed down.

The 15 cm Pz.W.42 used to be 4.3 afair. Now since it's introduction in patch 1.53 and now, there was a HE rework: HE now does damage to the crew if the explosive mass is great enough. It's the same principle as HESH - shell shock or even spalling of the armor inside the tank that has been hit can wound or kill the crew and modules. Usually it's enough to hit the turret front, so the blastwave can push through the drivers roof.

I was in a match late last night on Frozen Pass in a Panther D and I saw one of those with half it's rockets gone and a dead M36 in front of it and out loud said "You poor, poor creature. Even open tops are a struggle for you". It was in our spawn too so it's not like he got other kills. No, 1/4th ammo on an open top
This vehicle is so funny to use in Arcade, since it can fire from relative cover and hit targets that are behind cover. Not uncommon to get an aburd amount of kills if you learn the aim relative to the arcade distances. It has an absolutely bonkers RP & SL modifier compared to other vehicles in the tier aswell. Your crew will powerlevel using this tank, at least in Arcade. It is quite literally my favorite vehicle to play for fun. It's absolutely useless in realistic battles.
If you want to have fun, try the Vickers Mk. 1. Yeah, I know it's British. But this one is really good, not just for a British tank, but overall. It's sitting at 8.0, it's quite mobile. It has a very good 105mm high-pen APDS with a good post pen and insane 5.0s reload (max crew) and a Two-playne stabilizer. This thing in the right goblin hands (looking at you Spookston) will decimate anything.
I just bought the Vijayanta and it is really good having challenger 2 reloads but with an actually existing ready rack. The armour is awful but it isn't necessary with the playstyle of the tank
Something that you might find interesting (minus the teammates and getting strafed) would be the Waffenträger That waffle iron almost forces you to play like a goblin since it's pretty much just sheet metal all around but has a gun equal to a king tiger
I unironically take it up in my 5.7 lineups and still get multiple kills with it. At the lower br’s literally the only things it can’t kill easy are T34’s and KV’s
8:58 - Makes sense as to why it survived as well, most of it is 50+mm of effective armour. Also makes sense as to why it was removed from being purchasable in-game (aside from the 11th anniversary thing)
God it pains me how Spookston wont set the range to 200m so he wont need to elevate the scope 83,5 degrees to hit something infront of him. (Tip for yall who play Sturmtiger btw, bind your mouse wheel to sight distance correction, and keep your sights always at 100m, unless you are shooting further away)
Literally what i do at the start of every game when i play a rocket vehicle. Just seems like the logical thing to do as it allows you to aim normally like you do with any other tank. Even been able to long range snipe with it thanks to that
Try playing the RP-3. Just make sure you’re out of the BR range of all those heavy tanks like tigers and closer to the light stuff like Leos for maximum fun.
Because all my favorite vehicles (including this one) have such a drop before hitting the first tick in the rangefinder, I have swapped my mouse scroll wheel to adjust range rather than camera zoom. Trust me, for low velocity ammo, it is absolutely necessary,
@@Retrosicotte HESH seems pretty nice now compared to regular high explosive, like 155mm and 20mm aircraft belts. APDS also seems decent below 6.0 but something is up with the 120mm. The one and only reason that I don't play the conqueror much is because the shell does nothing and then I have to wait 16 seconds to fire again

APDS is also massively artitifially nerfed. We've proven it many times on the forums with primary sources, but they just ignore it.

It's a neat little gimmicky tank, I could see how people would want it on launch, the sound effects the high arc-fire, on paper it sounds incredible. But then you realize you have a hard time killing light tanks in it, the Calliope has okay rockets, but it also has a fallback decent 75mm cannon capable of killing most enemies at it's tier. I definitely think the Calliope is a cheaper and better version of the Panzerwerfer.
It seems to me that there was a buff to some of the HE mechanics recently. I had my Maus hull facing 90° away from my turret so that I could hit a shot while protecting my hull, and an M109A1 received a full penetration on my turret cheek. Nothing that it could have splashed into other than the dirt but killed every single one of my crewmembers. I sent up a bug report because unless I'm mistaken even a 155mm shell isn't going through 250mm of steel.
That my friend is called overpressure. That's my go to way of killing Maus spams when my AMX-10P (7.3 ATGM mon dieu) rr AML-90 (fast and HEAT-FS) isn't available. (Still trying with low tier chopper). Though the AuF1 is a pretty big target (turret) and it only really protects you against coaxial mgs and solid shots that doesn't hit those 20+ shells in the back.
I once got a 75% discount on one and was tempted to buy it. It plays much better now than it used to. He received a working rangefinder, and the missiles are more effective. Sometimes, just for fun, I take it to 6.0 and I can always do something.
Yep, it was 3.3, but its rockets had 44mm pen at the same time. Still, at that time HE projectiles did not have an overpressure feature. Then, Gaijin made the penetration "historically accurate" at 27mm but forgot to move it lower in BR. So its suffering was actually even worse.
Read online about the vehicel. It was very good at defending agains T34, it has a high accuracy, destroys in the first hit from the front. So Gajin hase to improve the Rockets for that.
This vehicle was released without any range marks in the sights. That’s why you’re so much better with it now. You’re either running the community-made rangefinder overlay or WT added one. After I grabbed the community rangefinder markings years ago, my werbel game went way up.

Because...genuinely i had a blast with it and still hold it as one of my most favorite vehicles to play. And i do have a pretty solid K/D in it as well id say. With i think about 30-40 kills with only 10-20 deaths or so in 20-30 spawns. Idk the exact numbers out of my head but it should be somewhere around that. But maybe im also biased becausw i just adore rocket vehicles in general and this one really has been a blast to play for me. Definetly happy i bought it when i got it as a sale coupon
I honestly quite like that thing, I mean I bought it with 75% off and it’s just super fun to take apart almost everything since even the stronger vehicles have little enough armour underneath or above
You know that you can range the sight? In the setting switch "Mouse wheel" to "Sight distance control" and you can move the 100m mark back to the center.
I remember "miss clicking" on Chi-Ha Short Gun and asked Support for a refund (i wanted Chi-Nu 2 but i wasn't very sober). Ofc they politely denied me a refund. And then overpressure mechanic was implemented, and i had a lot of great time with Short Gun. Also WT gives me test drives for Pz.W.42 very often, but i won't buy that, it's no fun.
after playing it enough you start to figure out little things that you can use to your advantage. I'd start by adjusting the gunsight to account for the initial drop from the tube.
For those who don’t know you can actually refund premium vehicles as long as you didn’t play a battle in it. I once bought the F5 premium and then post purchase clarity hit me and asked for a refund. They fortunately did give me my refund and funny enough since I technically owned a rank 5 aircraft I was able to purchase the cobra even after it was removed from my account!

I think it is crummy that all the rocket tanks are just stupid expensive. I feel that they should stay with other premiums relative to cost. Especially the BM-8. I want the unique crappy little vehicle so bad but it costs so much more than other premiums of that rank.
I just bought this tank a few weeks ago and its quite fun to play imo. Having a low BR setup and a nice map + good position always guarantees a few kills
When this thing first came out. If you figured out the projectory with the sites. Your round 8/10 would destroy the enemy vehicles. If it wasn't a pin. It was spaling from the rounds explosive charge. They nerfed the hell out of it and dropped it in tier as well.
You can tell who hasn't watched the video yet because they think I'm saying the Panzerwerfer is still irredeemable :)

In arcade battles it was diffrent years ago you could reload when you ran out. I have a lot of kills to death ratio

Driver port is an obvious weak spot, the sides are paper thin, and the turret traverse and gun handling are a nightmare. But go off.
The reason the nerblewerfer is somewhat usable now is the introduction of overpressure which I assume wasn’t present when you bought it.
There was one time where my team was ambushed by a Raketentruck, it killed like six people back there and also survived till the end of the match.

i believe it does that cuz of acceleration cuz it's a rocket, it dips a bit before it caught to speed where it then flies straight

I unironically take it up in my 5.7 lineups and still get multiple kills with it. At the lower br’s literally the only things it can’t kill easy are T34’s and KV’s

Also makes sense as to why it was removed from being purchasable in-game (aside from the 11th anniversary thing)
God it pains me how Spookston wont set the range to 200m so he wont need to elevate the scope 83,5 degrees to hit something infront of him.
(Tip for yall who play Sturmtiger btw, bind your mouse wheel to sight distance correction, and keep your sights always at 100m, unless you are shooting further away)
Literally what i do at the start of every game when i play a rocket vehicle. Just seems like the logical thing to do as it allows you to aim normally like you do with any other tank. Even been able to long range snipe with it thanks to that

Try playing the RP-3. Just make sure you’re out of the BR range of all those heavy tanks like tigers and closer to the light stuff like Leos for maximum fun.

Because all my favorite vehicles (including this one) have such a drop before hitting the first tick in the rangefinder, I have swapped my mouse scroll wheel to adjust range rather than camera zoom. Trust me, for low velocity ammo, it is absolutely necessary,

If they fixed its APDS and HESH to not be unrealistically shit and gave it a more balanced reload to fit other tanks of the BR it'd be okay
@@Retrosicotte HESH seems pretty nice now compared to regular high explosive, like 155mm and 20mm aircraft belts. APDS also seems decent below 6.0 but something is up with the 120mm. The one and only reason that I don't play the conqueror much is because the shell does nothing and then I have to wait 16 seconds to fire again
@@Rorywizz Nah HESH is pathetic, it's performing far, far, FAR below what it should be doing. Gaijin basically invented an article then cited themselves to nerf it based on nothing. APDS is also massively artitifially nerfed. We've proven it many times on the forums with primary sources, but they just ignore it.
@@Retrosicotte Maybe APDS performs way worse in game than it should, but the other side of the issue is APHE performing way better than it should (shrapnel explodes into a ball rather than a cone)

It's a neat little gimmicky tank, I could see how people would want it on launch, the sound effects the high arc-fire, on paper it sounds incredible.
But then you realize you have a hard time killing light tanks in it, the Calliope has okay rockets, but it also has a fallback decent 75mm cannon capable of killing most enemies at it's tier. I definitely think the Calliope is a cheaper and better version of the Panzerwerfer.
It seems to me that there was a buff to some of the HE mechanics recently. I had my Maus hull facing 90° away from my turret so that I could hit a shot while protecting my hull, and an M109A1 received a full penetration on my turret cheek. Nothing that it could have splashed into other than the dirt but killed every single one of my crewmembers. I sent up a bug report because unless I'm mistaken even a 155mm shell isn't going through 250mm of steel.
That my friend is called overpressure. That's my go to way of killing Maus spams when my AMX-10P (7.3 ATGM mon dieu) rr AML-90 (fast and HEAT-FS) isn't available. (Still trying with low tier chopper). Though the AuF1 is a pretty big target (turret) and it only really protects you against coaxial mgs and solid shots that doesn't hit those 20+ shells in the back.
the fact that some tanks have HE with more penetration than those rockets really shows how "usefull" they are
I once got a 75% discount on one and was tempted to buy it. It plays much better now than it used to. He received a working rangefinder, and the missiles are more effective. Sometimes, just for fun, I take it to 6.0 and I can always do something.

Yep, it was 3.3, but its rockets had 44mm pen at the same time. Still, at that time HE projectiles did not have an overpressure feature. Then, Gaijin made the penetration "historically accurate" at 27mm but forgot to move it lower in BR. So its suffering was actually even worse.
Read online about the vehicel. It was very good at defending agains T34, it has a high accuracy, destroys in the first hit from the front. So Gajin hase to improve the Rockets for that.

This vehicle was released without any range marks in the sights. That’s why you’re so much better with it now. You’re either running the community-made rangefinder overlay or WT added one. After I grabbed the community rangefinder markings years ago, my werbel game went way up.

But also sad to hear that the vehicle is apparently this bad to play. Because...genuinely i had a blast with it and still hold it as one of my most favorite vehicles to play. And i do have a pretty solid K/D in it as well id say. With i think about 30-40 kills with only 10-20 deaths or so in 20-30 spawns. Idk the exact numbers out of my head but it should be somewhere around that.
But maybe im also biased becausw i just adore rocket vehicles in general and this one really has been a blast to play for me. Definetly happy i bought it when i got it as a sale coupon

Rocket vehicles like this were really improved by the hull break mechanic. It actually allows that oversized HE to do something.

You know that you can range the sight? In the setting switch "Mouse wheel" to "Sight distance control" and you can move the 100m mark back to the center.

I remember "miss clicking" on Chi-Ha Short Gun and asked Support for a refund (i wanted Chi-Nu 2 but i wasn't very sober). Ofc they politely denied me a refund. And then overpressure mechanic was implemented, and i had a lot of great time with Short Gun. Also WT gives me test drives for Pz.W.42 very often, but i won't buy that, it's no fun.

after playing it enough you start to figure out little things that you can use to your advantage. I'd start by adjusting the gunsight to account for the initial drop from the tube.
If you use gun elevation with the keys you can compensate the big drop of the rocket at the beginning
For those who don’t know you can actually refund premium vehicles as long as you didn’t play a battle in it. I once bought the F5 premium and then post purchase clarity hit me and asked for a refund. They fortunately did give me my refund and funny enough since I technically owned a rank 5 aircraft I was able to purchase the cobra even after it was removed from my account!

When this thing first came out. If you figured out the projectory with the sites. Your round 8/10 would destroy the enemy vehicles. If it wasn't a pin. It was spaling from the rounds explosive charge.
They nerfed the hell out of it and dropped it in tier as well.
The problem with the Panzerwerfer rockets is the fact, that they use HE shells mechanics, meaning you have to hit the tank proberly to make damage.
