I know one point. Gaijin in almost every update destroys engine noises. Sometimes you can't hear anything from your teammates' engines (eventhough I lowered my own so this wouldn't happen) while other times a Tiger II sneaks up on you (talking from experience)

@@joshharris2793 sound mods can only do as much, but they can't fix broken game sound engine. Even with mods if you have more than 4 sound sources around you, 5th will go silent. It's engine limitation. I have died to silent tanks many times even with sound mods. Such is the nature of Gaijin game engine.

    • @CyberneticArgumentCreator
      @CyberneticArgumentCreator 2 місяці тому +4

@@info0 It's because they never bus any of the sounds together, so it caps out. It's kind of like if you were trying to record on an 8 track and you put 8 mics on the drums and then complained that you couldn't record the guitar and bass and vocals. No dude, gather the drum kit into one mixing board, then feed that into one stereo in on the 8 track. Then use the rest for the other stuff.
Edit: This is also why all the sounds are smashed and mega compressed and loud. There's no mixing, they just throw everything in at once into a main bus with a limiter. Once there are a few sound sources, it's hitting maximum volume and then starts squashing into the limiter. Basically the equivalent of "mixing" in base Garageband into a limiter with every track normalized.

I looove how ppl actually think they know how some companies game engine is coded along with their sound engine as well, which has given them the knowledge to say for certain they know the sound engines limitations has some "major limitiations" lol ok Einsteins, and you base that off noo evidence other than "they know because a tiger tank snuck up on them and they didnt hear it in their 40 dollar logitech computer speakers lol". for instance, the dude saying he knows the games sound engine can only handle up to "4 vehicles" lmao dude GET REAL you dont know ANYTHING when it comes to game development let alone a companies multi million dollar game engine or "sound engine" UNLESS you are a dev from within that company! plain and simple none of you have ever done an ounce of research or taken into consideration the countless variables other than the the game itself that come into play as factors but have drawn this conclusion based off what.. becasue you just know? lol it couldnt possibly have anything to do with any sorta hardware that you own the sound card your pc is using the headphones or speakers you have you just all know its the Games sound engines ability to only render a max of 4 vehicles in an area... SMH and the other guy that has "solved it" by adding a sound mod to the game files, and that fixed the "sound engines" limitation right?! like are u serious kid? all of a sudden your experts in game development? but none of you are game devs? weird.. or work at gaijin.. even weirder.. but a tiger tank snuck up on you and exposed your skill issues so that gave you the insight and knowledge to know and understand a multi million dollar game developers game engine... GET REAL and GET OUTTA HERE WITH THAT NONSENSE!

after 2 years of playing this game I have come to this conclusion:
    1. Stop listening to music and start listening to engine' noises
    2. Do not rely on your armor this is a bad habit later on, praying for a none pen must be the last resolve as in real life
    3. Use range finder
    4. Do not move vast distances. move from cover to cover from one position to another cautiously while listening and watching for potential ambush. There will be sound and smoke from the engine compartment.
    5. Do not try to engage multiple enemies at once, and do not appear from one position twice if the enemy has noticed.
    6. Use the mini-map to know where the enemies are, and don't forget to point the enemies out for teammates.
    7. Do not call on arty prematurely, wait under to aim is smallest.
    8. Do not go directly to the capture point to capture it, wait for the enemies and then ambush them. Once capture a point move to an advantageous position and defend the point. Do not go for the spawn point. Flanking is the best option, avoid direct confrontation.
    9. Do not go after the one that killed you, he knows.
    10. Only take from 10 to 25 rounds.

    Tips:
1: Don't jump BRs without a fairly fleshed out selection.
Like grabbing the tiger 1 without having the panthers or decent tank destroyers. As at 5.7 there's alot of heavy tanks that will laugh at your panzer 3s gun.
2: get used to uptiers, in my experience most battles once you have that well rounded BR tree you'll be uptiered more often than not.
3: don't be afraid to ground pound in air rb if the plane you're using is a little underperforming. Or play the role of strike aircraft interceptor but if you do, make sure you know where your allies are so they can cover you if someone comes in to dive on you.
4: if you play British, you'll know where most weak points are. Take that knowledge to nations with good APHE and its easy.
5: learn to angle but once you get into higher tiers throw angling out the window. The Conqueror is a great tank but angling will guarantee a one shot knock out.
6: if you get burned out, do take a break. The game can be enjoyable but also very draining.
7: try custom battle dogfights as they won't hurt your reward points, and generally they can be Air Rb with unlimited respawns so you can constantly try and learn against other planes.

    • @ThommyofThenn
      @ThommyofThenn 2 місяці тому +2

      Pin this!!
Tip 1 is important because you don't want to use all your backups on one vehicle. Save the backups and just play whichever BR you have at least TWO main battle vehicles for (I.e. NOT support vehicles such as spaa).
      Another tip on grinding:
You can also move your cursor over the vehicle you're researching and you will see a big mess of numbers.
Look for words "efficient research progress" and you will see there is a particular vehicle that gives an RP bonus for whatever you're grinding!

    • @roveradventures

      Tips continued:
1: lead your SPAA shots. Do not aim directly at them like you do a tank.
A hit is a hit, and if it crashes due to poor piloting you WILL get the assist or kill credit.
2: if you have a mouse like a G502 with multiple buttons. Map your missiles and bombs to those buttons in air battles.
In ground, map your 2nd gun to a button on the mouse.
The T1E1/M6A1 is much more effective when using the 76 for hard targets and the smaller gun to trick targets into thinking you fired, or killing light armored targets since the reload is much faster.
3: learn to hull down early. Angling is important especially early on (slightly angled panzer 3 can be a menace and is good practice for a tiger or KV or churchill.
But once you get into leopards, comets hull down is a friend.
Japan and Sweden have really good reload rates, decent to really good APHE (filler and reasonable pen) and good gun depression but very meh armor. So fighting at range, and ambushing is all you get unless you get lucky and bounce or Glance a shot.
Side note: I'm only 100 days in and chose british as my main faction.
The churchill armor will NOT save you at 5.7.
At 4.7 and equal tier the mark 7 is a menace to most things. Solid shot generally will knock out barrels and tracks and you can just move around to their weaker sides.

@@ThommyofThenn oh and be prepared to suffer as sweden.
      The A21/J21 are very fun..
      BUT.
YOU HAVE TO GRIND THE BOMBERS TO GET TO THEM and imo their survivability is fairly low. Not much armor (I don't even think the glass is bulletproof, and the turrets aren't much to write home about)
But oh when you get the J21s...it makes up for it.
      Climb to 10K ft.
      Or don't.
Head on if you can dodge them (convergence at 400 for me)
If they try to out-turn you you usually will clip a wing or tail.
Do NOT head on a wyvern or Do-335. 🤣

You touched on this a bit but I think it needs some spelling out (for German players especially)
Paying attention is not only just paying attention to your surroundings but also your HUD, as in the map, and kill feed. Did your ally just die? Where? By whom, and by what vehicle? Did your ally just ping the map? Pay attention, find out where, is it near you? Respond to the call if you can. Did you see a tiny arrow on the edge of your screen? Your crew is trying to tell you something. Is someone spamming "need backup!" find out where he is, and what he's dealing with, if you can help, DO IT.
Sound is a major factor too. Even if you didn't get hit, did your ally just get hit? Where from? Look for muzzle smoke or a flash. Listen for engines, listen for machine guns or cannons firing that aren't on your side of the map. The game gives you all the tools you need to assess the situation, USE THEM.

I'm fairy good at the game but watching videos like this is always interesting. My personal tips that always help me are:
    1. NEVER rush a cap point, instead go and flank it and wait for the enemy to rush it/come to you or even bypass you, then you get to take out multiple guys at once from the back for a good dopamine hit.
    2. Patience is your best weapon, I'm not saying to camp but don't be reckless.
    3. Winning the game > getting kills
    4. Speed > Armor
    6. Try different positions on different maps until you find the one that you like the most, don't just go the same way every game only to get killed again and again.
    5. ALWAYS move inside of the deadzone and never above it.
    7. After a kill, depending on the circumstances, try to change position.
    8. That tank that killed you is not OP, you just suck, stop blaming other factors except yourself and you will get better I promise.... Except if you get killed by cas, fuck cas.
    9. Move ONLY if you have to, don't just hold the W key like a monkey.
    10. Almost never go the same way as other players are going, if you ignore this, the enemy will be looking straight at you, be as unpredictable as you can, like I said in tip one, flank.
    11. Probably the most important tip of all is map knowledge. If you know the map and know the enemy, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know the map but not the enemy, for every victory gained, you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy or the map, you will succumb in every battle, just like you are doing now, loser.
    12. Last but certainly not least, remember to always take a shower after you play war thunder.
    13. I switched the places of tip 5 and tip 6 , I bet you haven't noticed have you? Pay attention! If you don't ,you're gonna get hit and waste that juicy 500% booster.

5:00 What I do is make a mini-game of it. I call it "no man left behind" and you guessed it, if I see a teammate repairing or rejuvenating crewmen, then I do my best to reach them and depending on their vehicle/situation, either give them smoke, angle myself in front of them to deflect some fire, or more rarely come behind them and turn on my tow cable. (This only works rarely as people tend to panic when immobilised or zone out while waiting to die) The best thing is to exit aka "J out" or ask for help. You might get lucky and have a teammate come to your aid!

Personally I've found a lot of people turn down their own engine sound way too low in order to hear others better.
This is all well and good but people then don't realise how loud their own engines are.
If you dial up the volume, you'll hear others at shorter range, but you'll also be aware of how loud your own is and not overlook the sheer ruckus it can often be.

Also it doesn't really matter where you start at in the game, every 1.0 BR increase is a completely new set of vehicles that you will have to learn including your own. With 3500 in game hours I'm still learning new spots, new weakspots, new ways to use everything my vehicle has to offer. The reason War Thunder players are so unanimously bad is because it's too much for most to learn and remember within a reasonable amount of time.

If anything it’s kinda easier besides the helicopters. I got tired of playing mid tier Germany so I went into a high tier US game for the first time in half a year and I ended up top scoring in a full uptier with a mostly stock M60A3 TTS. All those light skinned Leopards and BMPs remove any need for precise weak spot aiming that I have to do at 6.0 Germany.

I've been playing on and off for 12 years, and I know all the 'tips,' but I still struggle. I used to play arcade mode because it's easier to spot enemies, but the revenge bombing after every other kill got old fast. So I switched to Ground RB, but now I'm usually one of the first to get killed, even when I hang back, use cover, and move carefully. I'm around 6.0-8.0 BR in most of the main nations, but whether it's low or mid-tier, I just don't seem to improve and usually end up be killed quickly and end in SPAA early and try shooting down planes.
One day, I decided to get a T-80 and a Leopard, and now I've got a few 10+ BR tanks. I actually do better with these, my the response time is faster, and the thermals help me spot enemies more easily. I also turned my graphics way up and use the gunner's sight because immersion.

I'm a lvl 100, 90 plus days on bombers alone, and it is always good to have the basics spelled out. Literally, I was discussing the importance of climbing in Air matches with my 10 year old 20 minutes ago.
Finding what works for you within the current meta is key. Once I was all about the Ju288 but the meta changed and I had to change too.
Don't rush to higher BR combat. Accept you are food while stock and dieing repeatedly is one tough way to grind modules.

@Tankenstein, I always tell myself in Air RB or Ground to "not chase the rabbit" like how dogs chase rabbits or squirrels. Myself and other players tend to get over confident and chase an enemy tank or plane to only get ambushed, flanked or out gunned because we rushed in guns blazing. Keep low and slow, being aware of your surroundings and forming some kinda plan and backup plan will usually help.

There is this weird situation that happened to me, I was playing with my AA tank, near the end of the match I went on intercept mission, the enemy bomber, I don't recall how is called (the only Bomber names I recall are B-17, B-25, B-26, B-52 and Lancaster 😅), it's that big Russian Bomber that drops the Fab 500 bombs, my plane was a F4U-1D Corsair, I was flying at a speed of 636 Km/h and yet the enemy bomber always managed to keep a distance of 1.5 Km no matter what I did to try and close the distance, and staying at such distance kep my plane form shooting it! We played cat and mouse for almost 3 whole minutes after which both of us went away with their plane intact. Only saving point is that haveing me always hot on his tail kept so focused on evasive maneuvers that he or she never had the time and space to drop even a single bomb.

    1. Map knowledge and map control. There are going to be favorites and maps you hate, so try to memorize and predict likely positions of your opponents, and routes/points you can take.
    2. A good flank early is worth more than a perfectly setup Weakpoint snipe. Especially once you progress into the Cold War era of vehicles, where armor is overshadowed by positioning.
    3. Use your binoculars, Commander Sight (if you got it), and scout UAV. These are insanely useful tools for finding targets early.
    4. For high tier- if your tank can carry some, always take some proxy fused ammo. Click Bait owners are the ones who should take this advise to heart, as having access to M830A1 MPAT does wonders against helicopters.
    5. Be unpredictable. An enemy that can be anticipated is one that’s easy to fight. This is critically important for SPAA, as helicopters and CAS will know the range for most factions they will be fighting and plan appropriately.
    6. Know when to play for the objective, know when to thin the opponent’s ranks. After all, what good is driving into the single capture point if everyone keeps dying?

    the sad thing..
ALL follow the videos they see in YT..
ALL stuck in the same loop.....
for example.. when i saw the buff of the Yaks. and the 45mm canon.. i knew that all will try hard to copy what they saw in the video... instead to play casual.. we have 3-4-5 yak 9 in every match to try to get kills.. (but they get killed) the same comes in every fashion some one shows in the YT....
people have NO awareness... NO SENSE of the map... they dont even look the mini map..
they avoid to PING where is an enemy .. or form where they died ... 0 help.. is another issue........
people get in front of you TO GET in your position.. and they manage to get you BOTH killed........
the wise man told once...."where starts the Warthunder.... the logic stops..."
you have bombs you CALL where you will drop the bomb.. AND they stay there.. to die with the enemy they shot.. or there are people that get on Pe8 and they DONT even call that they will drop a bomb so you will know.. i died from wellington and pe8 many times like that..
and the BIGGEST problem.. of the majority of the players... get on light tank.. M18 for example. and they ALL w in the cap and end up to die and they repeat the same way and die again!!!!!
0 to flank and scout... for the most of them THERE IS NO SCOUT.. there is not good.. to help your team. like that.. is amazing how people dont use anything to be better in the game. but.. w in shot shot .. die .. repeat.. amazing.. how fast can you loose a game like that.. when you get 10 on 16 people to be lvl 8 -11.. at 5.7.. is amazing feeling to loose like that..
the same time you have some kills you provide cover and you try to do something. loosing by the W-inners........

Grabbed the italian starter pack, tigris and pz iv g. I am struggling at low br more so than the higher br but it’s still very very frustrating and annoying when I have games where im trapped in spawn unable to escape, or get cross mapped when i thought i was fine.
My previous 3 matches went like this.
    Game 1:
Tigris 1: 1m alive. Died to 3 m18 hellcats sat outside my spawn.
Tigris 2: spawned and Flanked them. Barrel and tracked before I can shoot them.
    Game 2:
Tigris 1: came face to face with an is-3 and couldn’t pen it.
Tigris 2: face to face with a jadgpanzer and couldn’t pen it.
    Game 3:
Tigris 1: turned a corner into a soviet tank with 2 guns. Barrel got blown off and i died.
Tigris 2. Fox snuck up behind
me and took my turret off.
In that 35~ minute window of play i only got to fire my gun about 7 times.

With the vehicles you struggle to pen, in the hanger choose the vehicle you want to kill, go to armor, then choose protection analysis, choose the tank you want to play and the ammunition you have, if its green you should be able to pen the tank, make sure you select the range, 1KM is a good range to set with low tier as passed that you might struggle, and experiment with angles too.

I consider myself a newbie having just ground out pretty much all countries tier 1 tanks. Still working on Aircraft. I think I follow many of these rules but still feel something went wrong if I make it to the top 3. LOL. Which isn't as often as I'd like. But it happens when you're still building map knowledge since you find enemies camping the capture points in weird locations or knowing how to shoot from shrubbed up tank the entire map away. So a learning curve there. Not sure how much a difference having a fully skilled crew makes besides just unlocking the vehicle tech. I moved quickly away from Arcade to ground RB because the enemy always knew where I was even without firing. Though Aircraft I am still in Arcade for. Probably should try RB for that too - but I am lousy at bombing without the crosshair presently. LOL.
But man - some of those early tanks are slow, have terrible traverse and worse aim.
I guess one tip is that the enemy is pretty much always on the edge of the map trying to play sniper. Except when they are spawn rushing. 🤣

This may sound crazy, but DON'T MAIN A NATION. When you get up to tier 3 in one nation, start playing another. It will allow you to learn weak points of other nations' tanks. The way I learned how to easily take out a KV-1 is by playing as a KV-1, then seeing how and where I got penetrated. Plus, when you get a daily challenge that is really difficult for Russia or USA, it might be much easier as Germany or France.

If you aren't using headphones in Ground RB, then that should be your first priority; even cheap $5 earbuds from Walmart will do. Headphones will immediately and drastically improve your gameplay.
For those who play Ground RB: Get good at downing aircraft with your SPAA. Spend time shooting down the planes in test drive to better familiarize yourself with each shell's lead and performance. Planes can easily turn around an otherwise winning game by preventing heavier and slower vehicles from leaving spawn. Shooting them down not only keeps them off your team, but it also wastes a good chunk of the enemy's spawnpoints, possibly denying them any additional spawns.

  • @cybronichuman
    @cybronichuman 2 місяці тому

Most of the times I have a problem with correct positioning on uneven terrain. I can't estimate correctly what parts of my tank will be visible to the enemy and from which angles. Ex.: I stand in some kind of valley facing the hills in front of me where I expect the enemies to appear. I expect that most tanks will have a difficulty with enough gun depression to be able to aim at me before I take my shot. In reality I get shot down first and the enemy has barely exposed their turret. Going to the replay to see how that actually happened I see from that players view that I was more than visible to him and had no advantage that I was hoping for.
Another example: I stand behind the rocks (be it above or below the potential enemy). It looks like I should be in cover and the enemy should not see, say, my turret behind them, because neither my gunner nor my commander through his binoculars sees anything but the rock. Or, similarly, when I'm on a higher ground than my enemy, taking cover behind a hill, I also don't get a vision of my enemy through neither gunner or binoculars (knowing where they are because I spotted them before). So I stand there and assume that I should be fine, but no. Apparently they see more of my tank than I have assumed.
So my question is: Is there a solid way to do such estimations correctly?

Something noobs do, go out of their way to switch units to miles. Armed forces use "clicks" for a reason

You can't take my freedom units away, red coat.
Sure, I may not be able to convert my miles for range, feet for altitude, or knots for speed but 🦅🇺🇲🦅

I'm guilty of running like a bat out of hell into an open field. I think if I can just progress a little bit further I'll be in the perfect spot to 1 up the enemy and then boom!

i only struggle with the open field hill matches. they already know good campingspots and it feels like your nothing but a target for the experienced players in those games.

Learn to play your vehicle. Light tanks need to use Binoculars and mark targets and not assume your teammates will see the target. Medium tanks need to use their artillery to deny access to capture points or to flush out enemy tanks. Learn to use the map and marking functions, there's no reason not to share intel.
