Just want to say thanks for this perfect video…. This is better than any resource for settings up 4CM I have found, and understanding and explaining the ariius aspects of the setup.
I like the way you routed this for multiple uses, thanks. If I knew how to print the screen on your diagrams I would do it for future reference. I guess I'll just go old school and make my own from the diagrams on the screen.
Great video. Helpful to also highlight - when you are going through the amp’s fx loop, you lose all access to any of the amp’s settings - no EQ settings, no volume, etc! No knobs on the front of the amp will do -anything-. If you need to make any changes on the fly, you need to do anything through the Helix itself.
In 4CM you are using the amp’s preamp so as you see in the video you still have full control. If your amp volume etc do not have any effect then something is wrong. If you switch off the FX Loop in Helix then indeed you are totally bypassing your amp’s preamp section- so of course the amp volume and eq will not do anything- as one would expect.
Patrick, the best video explaining the setup! I have a Boss RC500 Looper, where would the best place to inset it in the chain (I think the very end)? Thanks.
Hi Christian, thanks for the kind words. My advice would be to put the Looper into an FX Loop on the Helix (since you have 4 of them, why not!) and then you can put it anywhere in the signal chain you so desire! Before all effects, in the middle, just before the "main" FX Loop, anywhere... maximum flexibility. Have fun!
Really helpful and concise. Thank you. Just to clarify if I use 4cm and wish to use the helix preamps, I can use method 2 and switch off the fx loop going to my amp’s preamp. Would it the be best to place modulation and time based effects after the helix preamp and place overdrives etc before the helix preamp for a ‘classic’ pedal setup? Thanks
question... currently diving in to using the helix lt for 4 cable method with my evh 5153 50s then goes to my torpedo captor x and into my focusrite interface.... i've been having some "string noise" issues especially when doing palm mutes... does anyone else have this same problem?
@@12Jsilva 1) did you try putting the noise gate in front (in addition to the input gate) 2) do you have FX Send and return levels in Global Settings on "Instrument" ?

Thanks! Just pause the video at the diagram, make a screenshot, print

@@patgiff101055 - Brilliant Idea (do I need to set the in/outs for each of the FX Loops)? Thanks for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.

Hi Matt, thanks for the feedback! Yes everything you said above is correct 👍
Thanks for clarifying, all makes sense to me now.
Thanks for this video

not sure this has anything to do with the Helix or the amp... what guitar are you playing?
