    Why would you need the pan in the beginning of the chain? Works fine just adding as the last

    • @patgiff101055
      @patgiff101055 Місяць тому

      Good point! It just makes sure that you only get sound from the guitar you want, when you want it. EG without the 1st pan block, if you have the electric preset and you unintentionally play your acoustic guitar, you will hear the acoustic guitar through your amp. And vice versa. Also it keeps any feedback from the acoustic guitar from finding its way into the electric amp - when the acoustic guitar is on its stand, plugged in, and not being used. However if this is not important for you, OR you use a single wireless system with multiple guitars (as I do- a Shure GLXD16+ with multiple body packs) then the 1st pan block is not needed.

      @@patgiff101055 Ahh ok, if you plug in both guitars in the two inputs, then it makes sense. I only use one cable and switch and only use one input, then I don't need the first pan. Great video by the way 🙂

    Hi Patrick, thanks for this tip. I tried this for my PRS hollowbody with mags and piezo pick-up. The guitar has two outputs for electric and acoustic. When I set the banks like you did, it only works one time. I can switch from acoustic to electric (output R to output L) but when switching back to acoustic the panning has returned to L (in my case electric). So the panning won't stick. What's happening? My set-up: only 4 cables used, 2 in and 2 out to separate amps, no expression pedal or any other block, just the pan blocks, Hope you can explain. Brgds Guus

      Hi Gus Are You creating a separate preset for Acoustic and Electric or are you doing this with one preset via Snapshots? You have to explicitly Save the pan 100% left or 100% right within the snapshot or preset I never had this Problem when I used one preset for Acoustic and all Others for Electric.

      Absolutely! As I mention in the video you put the effect into the state you want it to be in. Then when you step on the footswitch it toggles to the opposite state, regardless which state that is (there are only 2 possibilities 😊) So just like one is on and the other one is off in my example- turn *both* of them to on or off - then when you step on the footswitch both of them will toggle to the other state - on/off.

      @@gary1488 personally … I would put the OCD and Big Muff between the guitar and the PG input - but it’s a matter of taste. Experiment and see what you like better. The phaser should be connected to the L Output of the PG so it is *after the preamp* and last in the signal chain in 4CM - and hits your amp just before the power amp, after any delay and reverb… Same for the looper. I would do it differently if you had a 2nd FX Loop on the PG but you don’t. There is no right and wrong by the way. Hey Patrick, thanks for the vid, helped a lot! 1 question...when the FX loop on the pod go is off and the preamp is on...where is the signal feeding into? Into the front of the amp or in te FX return?

    • @patgiff101055
      @patgiff101055 Рік тому

      Hi Matti, you can pause the video then you can study the diagram which shows you the signal path in each case. When the FX Loop is turned off, no signal goes to the front input of the amp. It goes through the preamp block and out the L Output into the FX Return of the amp. That combines the preamp block inside the PG with the power amp section of your amp. When the FX Loop is on, the FX Send of the PG feeds the front input of your amp and this passes the signal through the amp’s preamp section. And that is why you do one or the other but not both at the same time- otherwise you have one preamp feeding into another preamp which is not what we want. Hope that helps! Pat

      Hi what amp are you using? Maybe I can look up the manual and give you a better answer. For sure you should not put your Delay and Reverb before the FX Loop - unless you are trying to achieve something special. Remember you must turn off Amp and Cab blocks when you are running in 4CM into your tube amp. AND the FX Loop block has to be turned on. If you don't turn on the FX Loop you only hear the power amp section of your tube amp.

    *** Line 6 said this is a bug HX EFFECTS *** Background: Using snapshots in stomp mode would be my preference. Why? Because having to hit the two Bank switches with my foot at the same time is not a easily repeatable action to put me into snapshot display. The ability to use one footswitch in stomp mode is reliable. This can be setup in the command center easily by assigning one of the foot switches. Problem: The scribble strip does not show which snapshot you are on after the first press. When going into stomp mode, the name of the snapshot that is the target is displayed properly. After the first press, the snapshot name that is the next programmed target is no longer shown, the word Snapshot is shown. There is no feedback on the scribble strip saying what is the target of the next foot switch press.

    • @patgiff101055
      @patgiff101055 Рік тому

      yes that would work fine. You have to test between using a PG amp block vs a PG preamp block, since the amp block includes power amp modelling already. It's a matter of taste. But be sure to turn the cab block off if you are running your real amp into a real cab. Otherwise you have a PG cab feeding a real cab. Note: Personally I like 4CM because it gives you the chance to selectively use your own amp's preamp section - which you already paid for :-)

    You have the fx loop set up in your electric path, but not in your acoustic path. Why does it need the loop in one but not the other? Thank you and what a great video!

      Hi Larry thanks for the compliment, I am glad you found it useful. You ask a good question! The reason I use the FX Loop in the electric path is that I am going 4CM to my amp. if I did not use 4CM but just wanted to go "old school" from the HX Effects into the front of my amp, I would not need that FX Loop either. I don't need an FX Loop for the acoustic path because I am not using an external amp for acoustic (I could - but then I would need 2 amps- one electric and one acoustic). I am only using the HX Effects for effects like compression, EQ, reverb etc and then feeding out to my mixer (in my case via a DI box - which is actually not really needed either). Hope that helps.

      @Patrick Gifford I'm wanting to run my electric guitar to my regular amp and my acoustic to my acoustic amp. Any difference then? Thanks for the quick reply! And if i have to run a loop in my path(s), does it matter where i put the loop block in the path?

    • @patgiff101055
      @patgiff101055 Рік тому

      @@recruiterlb no difference. If you use 4CM, your FX Loop block should be positioned so that your compression, noise gate, distortion blocks are BEFORE the FX Loop (so they feed the preamp section of your amp). Your time-based effects like reverb should be positioned AFTER the FX Loop block so they don't feed your preamp but they sit in between the preamp section and power amp section of your amp (all assuming your amp also has an FX Loop!- if not there is no 4CM possible). If you are not using 4CM then it depends what you plan to use that FX Loop for... if for a distortion pedal, put it early. If for a time-based effect, put it later. On the acoustic side, same advice. I doubt you want to use 4CM with an acoustic amp (many acoustic amps do not even have an FX Loop- I had a Fishman Loudbox which I bought mainly because it DID, but I rarely used that FX loop anyway)... but there is no reason why you couldn't (just a lot of cables!). Good luck!

    Hi Patrick, thanks for the informative video. I hope your community can help me out! I am using my Pod Go along with a real Marshall Silver Jubilee 2525H and matching Cab 2536A 212, I want the best quality over the PA as well in addition to my Marshall including the Cab. I use the 4 cable method, the blocks Amp/Preamp and Cab/IR on the Pod Go are deactivated, my signal chain is as follows: Guitar In Pod Go - Pod Go Effects (Compressor, Distortion) - FX Send Pod Go - Front Input Marshall - FX Send Marshall - FX Return Pod Go - Pod Go Effects (Chorus, Delay, Reverb) - Amp Out Pod Go (Main Out Setting) - FX Return Marshall. The normal Main Out (Mono) is coupled to the PA. Is this procedure recommended? Are there any problems with this setting? Is there also the possibility to change my Marshall Amp Channel via EXP2, currently I use a Marshall Single Button Amp Footswitch which is directly connected to my Marshall? I look forward to a feedback, thank you!

      Hi Rodrigo. Now you got me thinking :-) For sure you need to have a CAB turned on when you go into the PA or else where will the cab sound come from? You already have the sound of your Marshall preamp in your signal chain. So my advice is to try the following: 1) turn Cab ON and still leave the amp block off 2) Put the amp AND cab at the end of the signal chain because AMP OUT is a tap directly before the amp block, and you want that to be at the end so yo get all your Chorus Reverb etc into the signal (or else it will be cut out!). Try it and please let me know how it works. PS I assume you do not want to take a DI out from your Marshall itself? This would surely make things simpler 🙂

      Hi Patrick, thanks for the tip, now that I have enabled the CAB virtually in my Pod Go it now works, also as you recommended I put CAB and Amp at the end of the signal chain. Additionally I bought the same IR to my real CAB. My real amp is at Amp Out which was set to Pre Cab/IR. Via Main Out (Mono) I go to the PA, also all effects are active, thanks for the quick and helpful feedback! Unfortunately, when I use DI Out on the real amp, my EQ on the amp is disabled. I always had a decibel boost for solos at the end of the signal chain for Main Out, via a footswitch. Can I somehow use this in front of my real amp, so that it also gets louder?

    • @patgiff101055
      @patgiff101055 Рік тому

      @@rodrigoschneider3997 Hi Rodrigo, look at the signal chain...anything you put before the Amp/Cab blocks will be sent via Amp Out- and everything that is not turned off will go out via Main Out. So if you put the boost in front of the amp/cab in the Pod Go it will feed into Amp Out AND it will go to Main Out. I would probably put it directly after the FX Loop block just to make it simple, but it's up to you. If you put it *before* the FX Loop it will drive your amp harder- so it won't be a clean boost any more. You decide which you want to have - "clean boost" (after the FX Loop on PG) or "OD boost" (before the FX Loop). Good luck!

    Hello and I have a question, I have a Marshall DSL 40 CR combo and I bought a five-button footswitch for it. I would like to use the clear and distorted Marshall sound and use the sounds from the Pod Go via the FX Loop switch. Should I connect the PG via 4CM? And how should I set the PG outputs. Thank you

    • @patgiff101055
      @patgiff101055 Рік тому

      If you ever want to use amp models from the Pod Go, you should be in 4CM. If you want to put overdrive, compressor, noise gate from Pod Go in front of your amp and delay, reverb, chorus after the preamp of your amp then you should use 4CM. If you only want to use the PG for delay, reverb etc then you can just put it into the fx loop of your amp.

      @@patgiff101055 So far I've played from PG through FRFR and used soundbanks for each song separately. The sound of the Marshall DSL tube amp is nicer to me and more legible in the band. I will probably use the PG in the FX Loop for live performance and in the rehearsal - I just don't know if it will be possible to use the PG wireless when connected to the loop. At home, I will use the PD classic MAIN OUT/MONO output for training. Thanks for the reply, I will try and learn.

    Very informative video, and learned a bunch with switching. There are CERTAIN times you can use both. I have a Laney Ironheart that sometimes had more twang to it. If the cab keeps turning on, I recommend putting it on IR mode, and putting the dB in line. This prevents colorization!

      The cab only was on again because the default when you select an amp block is to add the matching cab every time. But this can be switched off in Global Settings too. The Pod Go is an amazing little gadget with so many options, I really think of it as a mini Helix.
