- After 2 years, I was finally able to break my old world record. But I didn't just break it. I SMASHED IT.
In the previous world record of 1:19, I only manipulated two or three shrines, and the remainder of the mages were luck based. Plus, I also fought Seto 2 and did the Final 6. This run aims to manipulate all 5 shrines in a row, skip Seto 2 and do the Final 7 instead, saving TONS of time.
This run was very, very good. But I'm FAR from done yet. Sub 1:10, here I come! -- Watch live at / gfc_
My speedrun is currently at around 8-10 years maybe even longer idk...
Thats cool mines started 20 years ago and still running
i only finished mine after downloading the emulator on the pc and having some cheats haha, took 15 years btw
Yah same
I know im randomly asking but does someone know a way to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb lost my password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Oakley Braylen instablaster ;)
when I was a kid I literally thought this game was entirely set in ancient egypt, fml
When I was a kid, I genuinely thought this game was unbeatable
There’s no shame in imagination. To be fair you were a kid.
It is
Its ok, some of us forgive you
Sounds cozy af
I remember grinding this game by playing against myself, to learn all the possible fusion. Good times
I played against myself/my brother/my best friend for months, just to learn all the fusions :D
Best animation is btw the snowman!
wasn't there a guide for fusions included with the game, i'm not sure anymore
This game was so hard without any manipulations. Proper grindey game but really enjoyable at the time. Duelist of the roses was my favourite yugioh game though.
How do I actually manipulate de drop in this game? I'm tired of trying the legit way, I mean I beat once without manipulation but that was back like 4 years ago, now I'm playing it with a friend and the best drop we ever got is a 2200 atk dinosaur smh
@@JoseRodriguez-vj2rd you have to get S ranks on people that have a chance to drop it. Low meadow mage has the best drops. For equip cards like megamorph you have to S tec Pegasus. You get S tec by making him lose by running out of cards. Takes a long time
@@JoseRodriguez-vj2rd actually i try a challenge regular way without use the twice-header thunder dragon x) and i need beat the 1st Heishin one time. for that i naturally need the summoned skull, and after 200 duels against the 2nd villager , nothing XD so, good luck ^^'

This and Reshef of destruction are really grindey games

Not sure why OP deleted his comment for this but thats awesome man

what stuff happened? the thing with that brazilian dude? or some other stuff?

@@jimmytsai1788 what minutes, can you tell me?
This was so cool to watch. I have no idea what this stuff means, but this just played out like a classic yugioh episode, believe in the heart of the cards and all that jazz.
Seriously awesome video!! I love how energetic you are about this game. A clear sign that you enjoy it!! Thank you GFC
Thank you for the kind words brother! I really appreciate it ♥
This brought back memories (pun intended)
This was actually my first Yu-Gi-Oh related thing aside from a Moon Envoy card I got randomly
Keep up the awesome work
I wish another game like this or sacred cards was made for switch. That have fun cards but don’t follow the actual rules of the game
Blue Version Duelist of roses was good to
This on switch would be so good. And a real chance to trade cards and explore that end of things. It would be awesome.
Alexander Spivey no it wasn’t
RetroGameMonster you can trade cards if you have two memory cards
Well I don't play the normal Yu-Gi-Oh game but rush duels for the switch will come out maybe that is different.
Congratulations! That was an amazing run!!
After that I'm going back to my Super Metroid speedruns. Gotta get those sub 1 hour splits. Thanks for the inspiration :)
Amazing Run, glad to watched it from France and that you beat the WR, gg!
Hell yeah man. I spent a lot of time playing this game as a kid and that was damn impressive.
First full speedrun I’ve ever watched from start to finish, cool af
Congrats, enjoyed watching it
Thanks a ton! Really means a lot to get comments like this one, genuinely glad you enjoyed!
...I have no idea what most of their terminology was and why they did most of the things they did but I had fun regardless.
It's kinda complicated. In simple terms, I started duels on certain frames to make what I want to happen, happen.
I just finished the game today for the first time in like 20 years and I just came across your speedrun. This shit is insane.
King scumpi I finished it almost exactly a year ago. It was something like New Year’s Eve eve in 2018. I woke my brother up so we could see how the game we could never beat as kids ended.
Sir Ubersupersloth
I swear I hated this game so much as a kid, because I didn’t understand shit and also didn’t know how to save so I always had to restart lmao
Acxryl - NGL...the game isn’t very good. The difficulty curve is insane and a guide is pretty much required to beat it.
Good music, though.
That was awesome to watch live, thanks for the stream and congrats on the record, GFC!
I don't know how the speedrun works, but I'm a huge Yu-Gi-Oh fan and it's so cool to see fusions in a completely different way
So many try to find the perfect run, the perfect card drop when you defeat Heishin in Free duel. And know fusion option for play Twin-head Thunder dragon easy. But mainly, so much luck ^^
What a great run. Well deserved!! I love how you are always in worries that the run might die any minute. Congratz
holy shit man, congrats! you deserve it after all those 3ish hour streams of straight resets
ah forbidden Memories speedrunning, where you reset for three hours, never get a run going, and just end the stream

Jean Fernando Nunes Borges Eh, it’s a classic.
did he use phyton in this run or is it okay to use other program to speed run and brings a new record? because 3rd time drop mbd from heishin is bullcrap
@@AKDHFR no, I didn't use Python in this run. I didn't use any programs or anything, just the normal, unmodified game itself.
I /DID/ use a Python script to create the ROUTE/STRATEGIES for the speedrun.
There's a Python script that basically simulates thousands of duels per second and tells me in a big spreadsheet exactly what card I'll win on each frame. When creating the route for this speedrun, I ran that simulation and figured out which frames have Meteor B. Dragon as a drop. Then I figured out how to hit that frame during speedruns, then I practiced it a lot, and then I performed it during the speedrun.
@@GFC_FM hi ^^ so, maybe i missed something, but at your 1st free duel you had already the black meteor dragon :x it's a glitch or other ? x)
Huge congrats, GFC! That was one heck of a run, and well deserved.
Oh shot thanks UA-cam not telling me he went live missing a WR.
Edit: sorry was upset at the UA-cam. Congratulations on the world record.
Can someone explain how this guy got 3 meteor b dragons in the first 3 duels with heishin? what was the cheat he did? like he kept saying something about the fusions and sometimes attacked with the cinematic button... i never got anywhere near getting a card like that even after 200 duels thats just so impossible and he did in like 5 minutes what is the secret?
The secret is RNG manipulation. He has a video on the channel explaining it. ua-cam.com/video/DnSmCXphfeA/v-deo.html
Is clearly cheat
If RNG manipulation is cheating, then yes. Though anyone doing the same things he does would be doing the exact same.
Manipulating RNG is a really hard stuff to do in order to surpass that random factor in those games, people used to do the same in Pokémon games.
How?
Congrats man. I've stopped everything that It was supposed to do here in work to watch it, congrats!
Gratz on the sub 1:15! Awesome run.
Its amazing to watch this being done without any cheat. Your rule dude!!
MANTEZ ! It’s any% dude, nothing foul by the book. I suggest you research speedruns before making such an uneducated claim.
Oh my god! This game took me like ten years to beat just once! HOW ON EARTH?!?! Congrats man I mean it!
I wish I was there to witness this happen lol. Can't wait to make the return to RNG Manip!
I remember playing this game so many time as a child having no clue what do and getting constantly frustrated but still enjoying the first few battles :D
Congratulations. Greetings from Germany. Love this game
Apparently the current world record for a speedrun of this game is 1:07:08 and is held by a canadian with the username Arkild. and this record was made about 1 month ago.
😂😂
I have this game on my Playstation 2, it is very difficult and I have never been able to complete it, and you still finish it in almost 1:20.00? All I can tell you is that you are a God, just that, you are a God
Does anyone know why at 43:51 he attacks with his 300 monster first then his 4000 when his 4000 would have just ended the duel?? Isn't that just a time waste??
It was RNG manipulation. This entire run, I'm taking actions during the duels that manipulate the game into giving me favorable outcomes.
In that particular duel, I had to attack with a card with less than 1000 attack in order to manipulate the luck in my favor.
If you're playing the game normally, you would never do this, as it would indeed lose time.
But in this run, every single action I take has been meticulously planned out by looking at the game's code and figuring out the outcomes ahead of time.
Once you know the outcomes ahead of time, you just have to perform them properly, which is easier said than done but is possible, hence this run.
@@GFC_FM oh right, cool. Yeah, I didn't know what manipulation was but there's a comment that described it really well. It's pretty impressive. I used to love this game as a kid and the card game and all. This was an amazing run man, great job, even though it's quite old. You still got WR?? And are you still running anything??
Man I'm so glad I got to watch this live, what a hype stream, congrats dude!!! You deserve it
YOOO DUDE CONGRATS
You super deserve it from just how much you I've saw you resetting when I caught your streams. This takes some serious dedication!
I just watched the current any% wr and some things looked a little weird to me, I've never seen anything like it before. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on them.
At 59:45 during an attack, the screen completely fades out.
At 1:02:05 when the opponents zoa attacks GFC's thtd the card art for thtd is distorted and the name reads as skull knight.
What causes things like this?
1.) The screen fading out is because I activated a 3D duel and then immediately cancelled out of it. If you attack by pressing the square button instead of the usual X button, it triggers a 3D duel. The screen fades to black and then the 3D duel plays out, then the screen fades back to black and you're brought back to the usual duel screen. However, you can cancel out of a 3D duel at any time by pressing circle. So, I initiated a 3D duel, and then immediately pressed circle to cancel out of it. I did a 3D duel at all for RNG manipulation. 3D duels change what card you win at the end of the duel, and doing one at that time was required for me to win the card I wanted.
2.) That is a common graphical glitch that happens most often when playing on a real Playstation 2 with "fast disc speed" turned on in the settings menu of the PS2. The glitch basically happens due to a loading error. The glitch will incorrectly load the art of the card, and will try combining it with whatever the last card shown on screen was. In this case, the last card on screen was Skull Knight, so when the glitch happened, the game basically combined the card art for THTD and Skull Knight. I don't know the exact technical reasons as to why this happens, only that it's related to the game loading the art incorrectly. However, the glitch is purely graphical, and does not actually change how the cards work or what the stats of the card are. So, for example, when that THTD glitched and the name read as Skull Knight, it was purely graphical, and the card still functioned like a normal THTD, just with messed up card art/graphics.
To fast to furious! Awesome effort my friend!
Thanks so much man, I really appreciate comments like this! Have a great holiday and stay safe, brother ♥

even tho this was 3 years ago.. i much enjoyed this video. i love this game!
Congrats on the record! I’m new to watching forbidden memories speed-running. Can someone explain how he started with that perfect deck?
He waited for a specific set of frames to start the game on. This is called RNG Manipulation. Basically, the game's "randomness" is the same every time. If you do the exact same thing every time, you'll get the same results. People found that starting on that specific period of frames gives you the best starting deck.
There's videos out there that go into more detail, but this is the gist of it.
@@wolfboy414_lac This is sick af, wild!
Ive never played this game before but I can appreciate good speedruns. Nice job man!!!
SMASHED. Congratz, incredible time TriHard
I'm still laughing at the fact that 15-card mod's WR is slower than this. That's the power of RNG manipulation at work.
Never thought I'd see the day when Forbidden Memories could be beaten in almost an hour.
1:02:05 whats with the weird twin headed thunder dragon?, the pictures inverted or something and the card says skull knight?
59:45 and how come it fades out here during an attack?
1.) That's a common graphical glitch that happens when you play Forbidden Memories on console, specifically common when you play it on a PlayStation 2 with the setting "fast disc speed" turned on. That's how I play (mainly because fast disc speed makes the game load faster). Basically, what happens is that the game can't keep up with loading the new card art, so it glitches out and accidentally shows the last card art that was loaded (in this case, the card art for Skull Knight). If the card that was played before my twin headed was a Blue Eyes White Dragon instead of a Skull Knight, then it would've glitched to look like that instead. Sometimes it just flat out loads the previous card art entirely, and sometimes it tries to load the twin headed card art AND the skull knight card art at the same time, resulting in a weird glitchy combination mess, which is what we saw in this case.
2.) Are you asking why the opponent put a card in attack mode but didn't attack? That would be because it knew it couldn't beat my monster. It didn't go into defense mode because it has a base attack of 3000 or more. ANY card that the AI plays with an attack of 3000 or more will always stay in attack mode. Keep in mind I'm saying BASE attack of 3000, so equips and field advantages do not count. For example, if a Metalzoa is played by the AI, they will ALWAYS keep it in attack mode, regardless of the field, because the base attack is 3000+.
Hope that answers your questions!
Oh, I want to add something on to my answer for #1 here:
I want to add that it's just a GRAPHICAL glitch. The actual graphic/art of the card is what's glitching out here, nothing actually changes. The attack, the defense, the type: everything is still the exact same when this glitch happens, the only thing that is actually changing is the appearance of the card. So this random glitch can't actually help or hurt you in a duel, it just looks cool sometimes.
I also wanna note that how often this graphical glitch happens also seems to depend on how scratched up your disc is and things like that. But everyone who plays on a PS2 with fast disc speed gets it pretty often regardless. People have had it happen on emulator I believe, but it's FAR less common. I'm not sure about playing on a PS1 but I'd imagine it happens there too, maybe less commonly because PS1 doesn't have fast disc speed but idk.
@@GFC_FMfor the second point im talking about when the battle between metal zoa and meteor b dragon happens, instead of a combat animation between the cards happening, the screen just fades out to black at 59:45
@@cr103 OH. My bad LMFAO.
That was actually a 3D duel that I instantly canceled out of.
You know how if you press Square when attacking, it will show the monsters in 3D model form attacking each other? I did that, but as soon as the 3D battle started, I immediately canceled out of it. This was for RNG manipulation purposes. 3D duels change the outcome of the duel, basically. And canceling out of the 3D duel at different times affects the duel differently. It just so happens that, for that particular manipulation, I had to initiate the 3D duel and then cancel it immediately.
There's a more complicated answer as to why this was needed for the RNG manipulation, but I'll leave it at that. If you're interested in the more complicated answer, read the next comment I'll leave in a minute or two.
Hi GFC, I love yugioh, I am brazilian and I hate ,too,CaveiraGames, you make a great work
unlike most Brazilians who just want the easy way!
This pisses me off honestly. I spent hours and hours and hours and hours and days and days and days grinding for star chips to get cards and still couldn’t beat it wow congrats
MANTEZ ! You have no idea what you’re talking about.
@@manfredovwales6338 If you don't know how RNG manipulation works then like Lem said, You have no idea what you’re talking about.
And, this record was beaten a month ago by Arkild by '4 minutes and 24 seconds - with a total time of 1:07:08 (this is the current time world record, not time for this video).
😂
Oh hey, this is the guy that called out that one guy for faking a Forbidden Memories speedrun! I've been meaning to watch you, GFC!
MANTEZ ! Nice grammar you fool.
i dont understand.
1) why did you reset the game when you saved at 4:42?
2) your starting deck is incredible. you can make thtd whereas i had to grind hard for those dragons and thunders
3) you estimated beating Heishin and getting 3x MBD in like 10 mins. how the hell did you know?
1.) This was to reset the frame count of the game back to 0. This speedrun uses RNG manipulation. Basically, this game runs at 60 frames per second. This means, once you turn on the console, the game starts keeping track of a number. That number starts at 0 and goes up by 60 every second. For example, 2 seconds after you turn on the console, the frame count is at 120. One second later, it's at 180, and so on. Forbidden Memories uses this number to determine what card you win at the end of the duel. For example, if you start a duel on frame 1000, you might win Meteor B. Dragon. Now, if you reset the console, that puts the frame counter back to 0. Now, if you start a duel on frame 1000 AGAIN, you'll win Meteor B. Dragon AGAIN. You're basically getting the exact same duel over and over again. And we reset the console so we can hit the same frame number over and over again. It's basically just starting a duel at the right time to get the outcome we want. It isn't a glitch either. This is exactly how the game is intended to work. Normally, if you play the game without knowing about this (which most people do), using this system makes the game APPEAR random. It makes the card you win APPEAR random. But it isn't TRULY random, and you can take advantage of that. But it's INCREDIBLY difficult. Remember, the game runs at 60 frames per second. That means if MBD drops on frame 1000, for example, that you WON'T win MBD on frame 999 or 1001. That means if you're 1/60th of a second early or late, you won't win MBD. So, it takes a TON of practice to be able to hit it consistently like I did in this speedrun. And even with all of that practice, I still fail it more often than not. This was my best run ever, but it doesn't show you the hundreds of hours of failed attempts and practice it took to get to this point. It's not easy.
2.) The starting deck is also obtained using RNG manipulation. It's the same thing as the card drops, except it's determined by the frame you start a new game on. So, if you start a new game on frame 1000, you'll get the same starting deck every single time. Once we knew that, we looked through thousands and thousands of starting decks on every frame. The deck you see here is the best starting deck we found that didn't require waiting very long for the frame count to get very high. It's on frame 711. So, if you turned on Forbidden Memories right now, and you started a new game on frame 711, you would get the EXACT SAME starting deck I did here. Maybe you'll start the game on frame 711 by accident. Or, you can AIM for it, like I do in this speedrun.
3.) RNG manipulation, see number 1 in this post.
I made a video describing exactly how all of this works. Check my channel for a video called "Win any card you want".
It isn't a glitch, it isn't a hack, it isn't a cheat. This was how the developers coded the game INTENTIONALLY. It's just that the common player typically won't notice this, and it will just appear random to them. But it isn't random. And I use that to my advantage in this speedrun. Is it hard? Yes. Is it harder than playing the game normally? Yes, much harder, because when playing the game normally, your timing doesn't matter, but in this speedrun, if I'm 1/60th of a second off with my timing, the run is over. And trust me, it took hundreds and hundreds of hours to get this speedrun. And hundreds of hours more researching the game and how all of this works. It isn't easy. But, I did it, and I'm super happy to show this run off, as it shows a complete mastery of the game and how it works, inside and out.
Hope that helps!
@@GFC_FM bruh. the fact that you actually sad down to type all of this just to help me ... im beyond grateful. i'll never forget this

Can anyone explain the card discolorations and mis-title @ 1:02:00?
That's a common graphical glitch that happens when you play Forbidden Memories on console, specifically common when you play it on a PlayStation 2 with the setting "fast disc speed" turned on. Sometimes it just flat out loads the previous card art entirely, and sometimes it tries to load the twin headed card art AND the skull knight card art at the same time, resulting in a weird glitchy combination mess, which is what we saw in this case.

i am a depressed man watching a depressed man play a children's card game video game that is over 20 years old
that's beautiful in some sense
Its great, right?
What did you do for Meteor B? I spent like 2 days trying to get mine without manipulation
Calvin Simpson he manipulated the rng to get the frame to drop him
I played yugioh several times it will not give you more than 2 dragon type and 2 lightning type. He already cheated on the first place or use cheats.
@@johnadrianebaria3129 yep
So im still not understanding how you guaranteed to beaf Heishin to get the dragon?
I really like you. Subscribed! What an excellent run bro.
That was a great run and glad you managed to set a record. I never knew there were those two final bosses as I never remember seeing them but boy howdy is this games rng screwed up lol. Glad to know some strats if I was to ever pick the game up again
I rememeber playing thus game a lot when j was a kid in 03. It reslly took me a while to get going. Maybe it to the temples though. Tried it again a couple years ago, holy he'll was it difficult. Way harder than i remeber. Gotta figure out and remember the fusions

How can I get meteor b dragon
I play free duel so much and get s rank but get cards like skull servant
Thanks for this, not only for your skillset but i mean this game was a nightmare to play as a child. Realizing i could judt get 3 MBD and just force it is amazing lol
Yeah it took me finally getting one from low meadow mage after like 75-100 duels. Then do the duplication trick with 3 memory cards, then grind out megamorph from Pegasus
@@calvinsimpson1301 im playing on epsxe but i guess its the same, im at 59 on meadow, most of them s rank and he just drops shit cards, i even take care of not failing any attack or any phase, getting at least one twin head at start, is hard with some okaish deck i made grinding Jono and May, both dropped me a lot off dragons and thunders.
How to get Meteor B Dragon so easily?
Damn!!! Is there any guide explaining how this manip works?
Alsoo needless to say, it was great. Best run I've seen in a long time.
Why wouldn’t you leave the MBD in attack mode face down and let the mages attack and lose their card instead of face up on attack? I’m no pro, I’m genuinely curious. Wouldn’t that help you pass the match faster?
That can freak the ai out and they'll put on a bunch of equip spell in my experience.
Congrats for the run, you are the best!
how does it work? I mean, you got 2 meteor dragons really fast, and heishin didn't even play the strong cards
That's a very very good question... i didnt find how in any of he's videos as far i can tell, still got some to watch tho.
1:02:05 Skull Knight ???
Could anybody tell me how he got 3 Meteor B Dragon?
My Goh... this was fantastic!
he manipulated the frames of the game to get what he want so is a little cheat btw
Nothing special.. boring record with Meteor Dragon at first battle 🙄
@@cesarpacode6272 sorry next time I'll try to make the next world record more exciting
because obviously that's the point of a speedrun, to try and make it exciting instead of fast
... obviously
Pretty badass! I've never done a speed run but I love replaying this game every year or 2 grinding for cards always has me watching new let's plays and speed runs.
how do you do that to get the meteor b dragon with heishin?
it's based on frames of the game. There are some combinations that allow you to get that card. You can find videos on youtube teaching how to get it.
Oh, you've done it again! Mate, you're insane!
Can someone explain what is he doing? I mean the tricks, or somewhere I can read about it.
I never heard actual Egyptian music but I'm convinced their music sounds like I'm this game
When is your Games Done Quick event coming ? we need that.
This run likely won't get accepted by a GDQ it was accepted for an event called MAGfast
I missed it. Congrats on the WR!!! Great work keep it up!!!
Two piece and a biscuit, baby!
we need remake of this game, maybe add some variety in fusion on atk 2000+. I miss story-adventure offline yugioh
Isn't legacy of the duelist just that? I haven't played it but thats what I've taken from the gameplay I've watched

How did he get such stron creatures cards for starters?:O
cheating
How come he resets the game after he saves? Does something different happen when you save?
I'm resetting the game in these cases so that the frame count goes back to 0. Basically, for the rng manipulation I'm doing, I need to start some duels on the correct frame. However, the frame count starts going up the moment I turn on the console. So let's say I want to hit frame 700 against Heishin 1 in free duel to win MBD. Well, first I have to sit through all of the cutscenes right before the world tournament. That makes the frame count go way beyond 700. So, once I can save, I save, then I reset the console. This brings the frame count back down to 0, and now I can aim for frame 700 again. And, if I fail the manipulation and want to try again, since frame 700 has already passed, I have to reset the console to get it back to 0 and then try for frame 700 again.
So, in short, I'm resetting the console to reset the frame count back to 0.
@@GFC_FM holy shit, thats a lot of complications for this game. loved this as a kid, never knew any of this stuff existed with manipulating etc.
Congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
