One big thing about the Duplex Bow is how common it is. Every bow above it is hard to get, whereas you get a Duplex Bow every single time a Yiga member randomly attacks you in the overworld. I'll usually end up with like four Duplex Bows in my inventory just because I'd might as well pick it up.
@@Shimanas527 I guess, but early to mid game you're gonna have half your inventory or more be Duplex Bows because it's better than every other bow you'll have at that point and the game just throws them at you constantly.
@@LordPhilipJFry well if we’re taking glitches into consideration I think the duplic bow is probably in the A tiar because you can duplicate your bows with a glitch after I think the side quest to buy a house and fill it with 3 bow slots so then every bow is basically infinite with this glitch.

I was just wondering when this video would come. Also: the ancient bow can pierce trough shields when enemys are blocking and if you are in bullet time the ancient bow goes troigh ganons shield
2:05 you might’ve noticed that the Ancient Bow sends arrows way further than it should for its range of 50 compared to the average of 20. That’s because arrows fired by it aren’t even obeying the same gravity as everything else in the game. Whereas all other arrows fired (and presumably literally anything else) fall at a rate of 9.8, arrows fired from the Ancient Bow fall at a rate of 2.8. Neat, huh?
i believe he also makes a mistake when saying that the 5x multishot savage lynel bow is the highest damage in the game. with ancient arrows, the max upgraded ancient set, and a tier 3 attack up buff against a blight, it can do over 1,300 damage in a single shot. im not totally sure, thats information from croton's video about it
I agree 99% with this tierlist. You forgot, that the Twilight bow with Durability up has the highest Durability, even more than the ancient bow. The Royal Guards Bow (with durability Transfer obviously)is often used in Combat and maybe i would consider it higher than the Savage Lynel Bow. I agree with the Great Eagle Bow being the best Bow in the Game 100%
The S tier choices weren't controversial at all imo, personally I would've put Falcon above ancient but even from a combat perspective this is a good list.
I almost never use Falcon bows, I probably just haven't properly tested fire rate so I don't realize the superiority, but when I'm late in my save I rely almost entirely on high-damage Royal Bows and Ancient Bows, with Lynel Bows on hand for glitches. Ancient Bows take forever to break, they shoot almost straight which is great if your aim is awful like mine, and wearing the full upgraded Ancient armor set with them (which has high defense scaling) nets you something like 80 damage per shot, probably more on Guardians idk how that works, _before_ attack up food. I've used them as my main tool in taking out Skywatchers recently because with Ancient Proficiency two normal arrows to the propeller section will destroy it, do that three times and the thing is helpless. And this is all before I just learned from another commenter that the Ancient Bow can shoot right through most shields, even Thunderblight's shield and Calamity Ganon's phase 2 shield if you're in bullet time. I would rank the Ancient Bow above the Great Eagle Bow personally, but then again I never use the Great Eagle Bow because I don't like unique breakable weapons (even if I can remake them or duplicate them with glitches).
@@Nat_the_Chicken Great Eagle Bow is probably the best general use bow for traversal and light combat given that it’s above average range and superb firing rate. It’s a hybrid between the Lynel and Ancient Bow really.

@@Nat_the_Chicken Isn’t the ancient bow more expensive? Giant A.Core is harder to find then a diamond and isn’t always a garuntee during guardian farming(maybe I’m just unlucky). And I’m a hoarder so I always go for cheaper stuff lol.
@@Dr.J42 I got most of my giant cores from shrine chests, since I did all the shrines and tried to open all the chests even if I didn't want the weapons. I ended up with a surplus early on because they're not required for as many things as the normal cores are. Also, I think Skywatchers have a better giant core drop rate than other types, and the ancient bow is great for taking those out, so it's a potential return on investment. I guess ancient bows are technically more expensive than remaking the GEB (unless you buy a diamond in tarrey town for it, I think they cost the same as an ancient bow, but why would you do that lol), and I definitely didn't really use ancient bows my first playthrough because I didn't want to pay for them. But I also don't like that you can't get a new GEB _before_ your old one breaks, you have to wait, break it, and then also be assured of finding a Swallow Bow at the Flight Range or somewhere (the weapon respawn rules are different from enemy respawns) before you can use it again. That makes it feel more limited to me, especially since I was playing without fast travel my most recent time so I liked the ability to get a backup ancient bow. (I also started trying out durability duping toward the end of that playthrough, but I think I'm not really a huge fan of that because it encourages my powerful equipment hoarding mindset.)
The duplex bow single shot strat against the Naboris feet was super useful casually too. I actually figured that out in my first casual playthrough. I was having a ton of trouble with the Naboris fight, and thought of using the duplex bow since I needed two shots per foot. I actually didn't expect it to work at all, but I went out of my way to go back to the Yiga hideout and get a duplex bow to try it out. Super shocked that it worked at all, and I really don't think I've ever done that part of the Naboris quest without the duplex bow since. Also I would have personally rated the Royal Bow a little higher, but that's just because of how solid it is for a casual bow. It's definitely not as cool to pick up as a Savage Lynel Bow, Ancient Bow, Royal Guard's Bow, or the Great Eagle Bow, but when your difficulty has scaled high enough, the Royal Bow is super common. In a casual file, I leave a lot of them behind, and I will definitely choose some bows over it, but I never turn my nose at a Royal Bow if I have the inventory for it. I probably would have put it at the bottom of S tier, below the Falcon Bow.
The Golden and Phrenic Bows are something I always try to keep one of on hand because they are incredibly useful "utility" items, when you need to hit a tiny korok pot, get a specific dragon part, or nail a specific enemy from extreme range. Honestly though you're right that every bow has a niche where it's amazing, even the humble boko bow is pretty much the single best item on the Great Plateau
Royal guards bow is my favorite! S Teir for sure! But I never thought about quick shot. That's awesome. But I like it for damage with durability transfer. Fun video!
Great list again, I love to hear your thoughts! The Silver bow is weird, I know what you mean. Awhile back I catalogued all I could find on bows' hidden stats, and apparently the only modifier on the Silver Bow is -30% projectile gravity, kind of like the Ancient Bow, but that's -70%. Maybe there's something else because it does feel slow, I wish Zora weapons were as good as they look. Also, for those curious of the specific stats for the Royal Guard's Bow (this is what I've gathered): +50% range before trajectory drop-off 1.5× draw speed +70% projectile speed 0.8× reload speed So the recovery time after firing is slightly longer, but otherwise it's a nutty bow, I love using it!

Even in a video about ranking bows, you can't stop yourself from giving us little snippets of knowledge, like explaining how you can use the Bow of Light outside the Ganon fight. :D I really like it; it goes to show that you're aware other people watching this video might not know about any speedrunning techniques or other glitches, and makes them feel more involved.
I personally love the duplex bows because if I use a regular bow and headshot an enemy and switch to do head shots with the duplex bow head shots immediately frozen again with another headshot and then you can just do that till it dies
Hate to break it to you, but headshots do not stack with the frozen 3x bonus. So doing the first headshot + freeze is smart, but then you can just hit your target wherever and the damage output is the same
Trial of the Sword taught me how powerful supposedly mediocre bows like the Soldier's or Spiked Boko Bow can be when used well. Regarding the Silver Bow, when I look at data tables I cannot find any reduced draw speed or fire rate for this bow, nor have I noticed this in my casual playthroughs. Are you sure you perception wasn't altered by using a quick bow like the Great Eagle or Falcon right before using the Silver? Great video though!

Once you learn the basics, it's pretty easy to quickly improve in English by watching vids etc. I'm french, but I think English is one of the easiest languages to learn since you basically see it everywhere. Pronunciation is another matter though..

@Limcube Yeah, if people give you grief over having a German accent while speaking flawless English, their opinions are laughable. I'm living in Norway trying to learn Norwegian and I am terrible at it. I *wish* I could speak Norwegian as well as you speak English. I am from the USA and there are many different regional accents, and the Cajun accent and certain southern accents are much harder to understand than a German accent, and no one gives them crap about it. Double standards.

Great tierlist apart from the Twilight Bow, which at least deserves a spot at the bottom of the S tier. It's the only bow that shoots arrows in a completely straight line, has the highest range in the game, and with the durabiltiy modifier, also has the highest durability in the game clocking at 140 (besting the ancinet bow at only 120) making it the ideal weapon for durability transfer. And of course, you haven't neglected to mention its tendency to use light arrows instead of consuming regular arrows which essentially grants it unlimited ammo. Thank you for still putting out amazing videos regularly for BOTW even after 5 years of its release, and congrats on 60k subscribers.
Weird fact about the ancient bow. It actually has the same range as other longer range bows, like all the rito bows and the duplex bow (which all have a range of 40), but the arrows fired from the ancient bow are affected differently by gravity. Normal arrows in the game drop at a rate of 9.8 meters per second, but the ancient bow fires arrows that drop at a rate of 2.8 mps. I really don’t know why they didn’t just make the range longer.
I could be wrong, but I think the reason they did this was because the in-game flavor text when you go to buy the ancient bow says that the it's supposed to shoot arrows in a straight line (for most of its usable range). I suppose that making the arrow drop slower than others makes it travel in a straighter line when compared to arrows fired from a normal bow. Pretty clever!
I’ve never tried speed running, so I like the bows that zoom in. Especially for the look out bokoblins & korok nut jars, balloons in some situations. But can see how they are probably not as helpful for your speed run play throughs, after watching a few of them. Interesting to see you ratings & learn more about the different bows! As others have said, your English is so great! Especially keeping it up while commentating & playing at the same time. I learnt German in school, but never got anywhere near your level 😊

I agree almost 100%. S tier is perfect (even though I use the savage lynel bow more than the GEB, but I agree with your reasoning to put GEB 1st). A tier I would put the swallow bow at the bottom and move the royal bow above the forest dweller bow. B tier I would rank the basic lizal bow between the soldier's bow and the traveler's bow. I’d like to make an argument for the Royal Bow being in the top of A-Tier The first point is its base power, range and durability are great, with 38 base damage, a range of 20 and durability of 60. The second point is that Royal Bows are relatively common. You can find them on Black Hinoxes and Blue and Red ones once you progress farther into the game. This means that Royal Bows can be farmed every Blood Moon, which makes Royal Bows an incredibly reliable bow to use for everything and not worry about it breaking.
Me doing memory storage glitch just to get the Bow of Light, man that was awesome. Shooting Guardians across the map with pin point accuracy is so fun and it looks absolutely badass. It also lights up dark rooms if you hold it lol
@@CrunchySpon no, as soon as I got the Bow of Light I just duped Royal Guard's Claymore with max atk / durability swap and played a bit, stopped soon after and basically dropped the game
So fun fact about the Royal Guard bow, even if you aren't using durability transfer, for some reason the Durability Up+ modifier can give it more than double the normal amount, around 45 durability with 50 attack in terms of raw numbers outperforming just about everything except multi shot bows. Couple that with the faster rate of fire and improved range makes it quite fierce even in vanilla as one of the best single shot bows.
In my opinion the duplex bow is very useful early in the game as it is a multi shot bow and because you can obtain it so easily in high numbers from the yiga. Having six or seven of these in your inventory already allows you to duplicate and maintain items you want to keep with the menu overload glitch. It was the first bow I actively went for in my master mode playthrough. When you beat Medoh first you can have infinite great eagle bows using the duplex bows and are basically set for a huge part of the game. After that it is basically useless tho as the great eagle bow is better in every way.
While bows are really good relative to other weapons, it would have been interesting to see a full tier list that ranks the bows without considering anything else (Basically stretching this list all the way out to F tier). It would allow for more distinction between bows that were ranked in the same tier in this format.
It's no coincidence that on my 100% save file, I have all of the bows from S tier, with the exception of the Falcon Bow, as I have a Durability Up Twilight Bow instead (in order to durability transfer, as it's the most durable bow in the entire game). I think it's also interesting that there isn't a "bad" bow in the game as opposed to weapons, which I'd say stems from the fact that elemental arrows can give you the advantage more than the bow at face value, as well as how you can kill any overworld Guardian even with the puny Boko Bow as long as you have an Ancient Arrow. Can't wait to see your shield tier list btw! :)
hey, fyi, the phrenic bow, according to the wiki "They have a wooden construction, and thus they will burn if exposed to a source of Fire or a Scorching Climate."
I love Duplex bow, the range is amazing, I thinks this is the most easy to get 40 range bow. yiga clan always show up hundred times a day so it's easy to stock up, the two arrows are aiming the same spot is also great too. Usually I will save at least 1-2 duplex bows in my inventory

I don't quite agree on a couple specifics, but on the larger picture, this seems close to how I'd rate things. You're right about the silver bow; it's infuriating. Also, I forgot I could dupe the great eagle bow even though I've been duping 5 shot savage lynel bows for months!
I actually completely agree with this tier list. I think range and fire rate are far superior stats to have then just damage and durability. The durability issue for any bow really is solved with the durability duping glitch and if you really want to do big damage then farm 5 shot savage lynel bows or Great Eagle bows or shoot ancient arrows. Honestly, I think I like the quick shot royal guard's bow the most just because it as Limcube said is an absolute machine gun. It has less damage than the 20 attacks up version of it but the firing speed allows you to gun down enemies so much faster and it feels so damn satisfying to use. It does use your arrows like a machine gun would though so either you do the arrow glitch or give Beedle all of your rupees.

One thing about duplex bows is that they're super common especially after defeating the Yiga Clan. Also at least in my experience it's pretty easy to do menu overloading with duplex bows as well. Everyone says you should use 3 or 5 shot bows but I have no issues using duplex bows for it.
Definitely agree about the falcon bow and the mighty lynel bow lol I stay using the royal guard bow with quick shot though of course with ancient bow durability transfer 😂
I never actually thought the falcon bow was good, so guess I'll stop dropping them now, also I never really understood how range works on the bow and which had the best, so this video really helped
The lower powered bows do have alot of useful aspects. Freezing a horse without killing it and like you said BTB's. Sometimes doing a kill shot is not wanted. I haven't been able to durability transfer bows, keep messing up somewhere. Would love to be able to use Royal Guard's Bow. I think your ranking is spot on. Great job.
Another great list, and unlike your melee weapon list, since you put an even greater emphasis on this being a speedrun tier list, I can't argue. I can only say from a casual runners perspective, I would move the Falcon Bow down to A tier, Twilight Bow up to S tier (because it has the highest possible durability for transfer and all-around great utility). The Bow of Light, however, I would place in its own broken tier above even S tier for how obviously overpowered it is, regardless of how difficult it is to obtain via glitching (although you can simply save edit/mod it into your game if you have the means).
btw i also want to add that twilight bow gives 145 durability (with durability modifier) which makes it the best and only bow for durability transfer if u have the amiibo, so for me its an S tier just for this reason

great video! though i'd put the steel lizal bow lower than the zoom bows. the firing rate is as slow and clunky as the lizalfos that carry them. and the rest of it's stats are very underwhelming except for durability which doesn't matter bc of durability transfer

I just don't want to break it even though it can be replaced, but that's sentiment and not practicality talking. I need to find and watch a speed run that kills a golden lynel with just a rock...wow. I still struggle to kill non goldens with my best set up. Just the difference between a great player and me, lol. 😀😀😀 p.s. the amiibo cards make it really easy to get all the rewards for a lot less money than buying the amiibo figurines...that's how I keep at least one twilight bow in my arsenal...and I do love them for dragon part farming especially. The amiibo cards are about $24 for a complete set and you can use multiple sets which I didn't expect. I found that out after accidentally buying 2 sets thinking I had wasted my money but thought what the heck, I will just try it and both sets work on the same day. It's still a pay wall, but $24 -is a lot more affordable than hundreds of dollars for the figurines.
P.S. can't imagine why anyone would comment negatively about anything in your videos. You are always respectful and explain your reasoning and your English is fantastic. You seem like a really great guy and you are a wonderful resource for anyone playing this game.
Some notes from an early 2023 (glitch heavy) perspective: - Ancient Bow, Bow of Light, and Twilight Bow should all be noted that they are considered neither wood nor metal, so they don't attract lightning and don't burn in fire, which is a big point in their favor. You can have them equipped at literally all times and never worry about it. - In my opinion, the Bow of Light is now indisputably S tier due to IST being an incredibly easy glitch to perform. - Because the Boko Bow is so insanely available during the Great Plateau and other earlygame segments and bows being vital to speedrunning, I honestly might rank the Boko Bow _above_ the Spiked and Dragonbone variants. It's sheer availability and lack of competition during that portion of the game push it up by a _ton,_ because like stated in the video, the bow doesn't need to be strong or durable for what it's used for at that point of the game, it literally just needs to exist. By the time the upgraded versions commonly obtainable, so is just about every other bow that outclasses them. Also, Spiked weapons don't get the Bone Attack Up bonus, only the Dragonbone variants do, so the Spiked Boko Bow is even further outclassed. - WMC has gotten a lot of people to appreciate how good a rapidfire bow is, which the Duplex Bow has natively. Additionally, this means a corrupted Duplex Bow with the 10x multishot modifier will be the rapidfire version without the zoom function (not a big fan of the zoom either). This gives the Duplex Bow a really nice niche among those who use glitches as well as speedrunning. On the flipside, the Golden/Phrenic Bows can have the spreadfire effect even with the zoom function, but that's nowhere near as useful. - Again, because WMC took the BotW glitch community by storm when it was discovered, I think multishot bows and quickdraw bows deserve a few points in their favor. Naturally multishot bows will fire in a much narrower spread when given the 10 shot modifier as opposed to the ultrawide spread that other bows get (which does look really cool, but it's more of a novelty than it is useful for combat). Quickdraw bows have an advantage within WMC, because quick fire is the one modifier that will actively make a bow worse if applied with WMC. Therefore, a naturally fast-firing bow still has that advantage over other bows, even when corrupted. Both these combined means that the Great Eagle Bow is still the top dog, even more so now because the damage is so ridiculous that the minor differences in most bows' base damage output are essentially negligible, and you can fairly easily give your GEB 800+ durability and have 80k+ arrows of every type, making both those resources almost complete nonfactors and making the GEB competitive with even the BoL and its ungodly damage output. - Pretty much every "normal" bow (i.e. singleshot, 20 range, regular drawspeed, regular arrow speed, regular arrow gravity) ranks B tier for me. Like previously stated, the differences in base damage are barely a consideration when you're dealing a _minimum_ of 1240 damage per shot, so these bows pretty much all rank the same, as they have nothing to set them apart like absolute standouts such as the GEB and Ancient Bow or neat niches like the Duplex Bow. - The Silver Bow is nowhere near the worst. Its drawspeed is totally bog-standard. Its only change from a standard bow is its slightly reduced arrow gravity, but it's largely symbolic more than anything. The benefit is way too small to make that big a difference, but it is technically better than the others so it would rank top of B for me. - The Royal Guard's Bow is the best singleshot bow in the game, bar-none. It has great range, amazing drawspeed, INSANE arrow speed, and durability is not a consideration in glitch land. I keep one without a multishot modifier on-hand for delivering quick elemental effects (namely freezing) that multishots wouldn't be convenient for. - Savage Lynel Bow is ugly as hell and its sheer DPS is outclassed with WMC. That is all. It's still good and ik people like it but…ehhhh I do glitches for aesthetic purposes. - Because the Twilight Bow is droppable, it does end up being far more convenient for IST purposes, as you don't have to use bow mounts/desync/prompt entanglement to manipulate the TB in your inventory like you do with the BoL, so it earns a few points there. - I've said that the differences in base damage for most bows is negligible, but here the BoL is the exception. Because it's base attack is so high (literally double the RGB, the second highest, and 70 points stronger than the Twilight Bow), it's far and away the best in terms of burst damage. This means that the Twilight Bow is still essentially the "discount Bow of Light" even with WMC in play, especially with the infinite durability factored in. However, the impact is lessened on the Twilight Bow, because a 10x 220 Atk BoL is so insanely overkill that you can get along just fine with a 10x 150 Atk TB and still wreck house with it. - Another essentially symbolic difference is that the Twilight Bow's range is 8000, while the BoL is 500, so it is _technically_ better in that regard, even though the effect is even less notable than the Silver Bow's gravity, because by the time either light bow drops off, the arrows have long since lost their hitbox. However, if you fire them in rapid succession, you can see when the BoL drops off and the TB keeps going. So that's neat. - Your pronunciation of Swallow Bow is just fine :)
I would personally rate the Duplex higher. Its so useful in so many situations, not just that one dungeon. Even in a casual playthrough its a bow you'll always be using.

Forest Dweller Bow is decent. Though it has good fire rate it has low projectile speed but I still collet both the Quick Shot and 5 Shot modded versions.

I’m continually impressed by your English, but since you repeatedly questioned your pronunciation of Swallow; I think you pronounced it correctly first each time (with your adorable German accent 🙂). Swallow rhymes with follow, not fallow. The a sounds the same as the a’s in baa baa, not the a in black sheep. I’m not sure if this helps, but the French name Soileaux sounds the same, or at least I can’t tell the difference.
One of my favourite hobbies is going to a bokoblin base and bombing everything to shreds with a 5-shot Savage Lynel Bow and bomb arrows. It's really satisfying to see everything being nuked because i am a berserker that kills everything i see.
as someone who has "Collectors Anxiety" for those who get the reference, I think the Phrenic bow because if you are using either of them late game it's purely for aesthetic purposes and the Phrenic bow is much more compatible with outfits and weapons(most of them, the Golden bow looks great with any Gerudo outfit, but the Royal bow replaces any other "golden" outfits to be made) thanks for looking at my aesthetic rant, remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and the Golden bow is better, statistically -A person who can't equip outfits that don't match for the life of me
Bow of light with inventory transfer now should definitely be an S tier, because of how easy this glitch is, like you can get bow of light to any of your saves in under an hour
Anytime im feeling defeated/goalless in my casual run, i go around and kill every lyonel, so my slots r almost always stacked with lyonel stuff, which means i had no idea how poorly they stacked up against other bows so. Thank you for this information truly. Also, it majes having the normal lyonel bow feel worse than a boko bow. I Detest the normal lyonel bow
One big thing about the Duplex Bow is how common it is. Every bow above it is hard to get, whereas you get a Duplex Bow every single time a Yiga member randomly attacks you in the overworld. I'll usually end up with like four Duplex Bows in my inventory just because I'd might as well pick it up.
well in late game royal bow might be more common
@@Shimanas527 I guess, but early to mid game you're gonna have half your inventory or more be Duplex Bows because it's better than every other bow you'll have at that point and the game just throws them at you constantly.

2:05 you might’ve noticed that the Ancient Bow sends arrows way further than it should for its range of 50 compared to the average of 20. That’s because arrows fired by it aren’t even obeying the same gravity as everything else in the game. Whereas all other arrows fired (and presumably literally anything else) fall at a rate of 9.8, arrows fired from the Ancient Bow fall at a rate of 2.8. Neat, huh?
i believe he also makes a mistake when saying that the 5x multishot savage lynel bow is the highest damage in the game. with ancient arrows, the max upgraded ancient set, and a tier 3 attack up buff against a blight, it can do over 1,300 damage in a single shot. im not totally sure, thats information from croton's video about it
I agree 99% with this tierlist. You forgot, that the Twilight bow with Durability up has the highest Durability, even more than the ancient bow. The Royal Guards Bow (with durability Transfer obviously)is often used in Combat and maybe i would consider it higher than the Savage Lynel Bow. I agree with the Great Eagle Bow being the best Bow in the Game 100%
The S tier choices weren't controversial at all imo, personally I would've put Falcon above ancient but even from a combat perspective this is a good list.
I almost never use Falcon bows, I probably just haven't properly tested fire rate so I don't realize the superiority, but when I'm late in my save I rely almost entirely on high-damage Royal Bows and Ancient Bows, with Lynel Bows on hand for glitches. Ancient Bows take forever to break, they shoot almost straight which is great if your aim is awful like mine, and wearing the full upgraded Ancient armor set with them (which has high defense scaling) nets you something like 80 damage per shot, probably more on Guardians idk how that works, _before_ attack up food. I've used them as my main tool in taking out Skywatchers recently because with Ancient Proficiency two normal arrows to the propeller section will destroy it, do that three times and the thing is helpless. And this is all before I just learned from another commenter that the Ancient Bow can shoot right through most shields, even Thunderblight's shield and Calamity Ganon's phase 2 shield if you're in bullet time. I would rank the Ancient Bow above the Great Eagle Bow personally, but then again I never use the Great Eagle Bow because I don't like unique breakable weapons (even if I can remake them or duplicate them with glitches).
@@Nat_the_Chicken Great Eagle Bow is probably the best general use bow for traversal and light combat given that it’s above average range and superb firing rate. It’s a hybrid between the Lynel and Ancient Bow really.

@@Nat_the_Chicken Isn’t the ancient bow more expensive? Giant A.Core is harder to find then a diamond and isn’t always a garuntee during guardian farming(maybe I’m just unlucky). And I’m a hoarder so I always go for cheaper stuff lol.
@@Dr.J42 I got most of my giant cores from shrine chests, since I did all the shrines and tried to open all the chests even if I didn't want the weapons. I ended up with a surplus early on because they're not required for as many things as the normal cores are. Also, I think Skywatchers have a better giant core drop rate than other types, and the ancient bow is great for taking those out, so it's a potential return on investment.
I guess ancient bows are technically more expensive than remaking the GEB (unless you buy a diamond in tarrey town for it, I think they cost the same as an ancient bow, but why would you do that lol), and I definitely didn't really use ancient bows my first playthrough because I didn't want to pay for them. But I also don't like that you can't get a new GEB _before_ your old one breaks, you have to wait, break it, and then also be assured of finding a Swallow Bow at the Flight Range or somewhere (the weapon respawn rules are different from enemy respawns) before you can use it again. That makes it feel more limited to me, especially since I was playing without fast travel my most recent time so I liked the ability to get a backup ancient bow. (I also started trying out durability duping toward the end of that playthrough, but I think I'm not really a huge fan of that because it encourages my powerful equipment hoarding mindset.)

The duplex bow single shot strat against the Naboris feet was super useful casually too. I actually figured that out in my first casual playthrough. I was having a ton of trouble with the Naboris fight, and thought of using the duplex bow since I needed two shots per foot. I actually didn't expect it to work at all, but I went out of my way to go back to the Yiga hideout and get a duplex bow to try it out. Super shocked that it worked at all, and I really don't think I've ever done that part of the Naboris quest without the duplex bow since.
Also I would have personally rated the Royal Bow a little higher, but that's just because of how solid it is for a casual bow. It's definitely not as cool to pick up as a Savage Lynel Bow, Ancient Bow, Royal Guard's Bow, or the Great Eagle Bow, but when your difficulty has scaled high enough, the Royal Bow is super common. In a casual file, I leave a lot of them behind, and I will definitely choose some bows over it, but I never turn my nose at a Royal Bow if I have the inventory for it. I probably would have put it at the bottom of S tier, below the Falcon Bow.
The Golden and Phrenic Bows are something I always try to keep one of on hand because they are incredibly useful "utility" items, when you need to hit a tiny korok pot, get a specific dragon part, or nail a specific enemy from extreme range.
Honestly though you're right that every bow has a niche where it's amazing, even the humble boko bow is pretty much the single best item on the Great Plateau

Great list again, I love to hear your thoughts! The Silver bow is weird, I know what you mean. Awhile back I catalogued all I could find on bows' hidden stats, and apparently the only modifier on the Silver Bow is -30% projectile gravity, kind of like the Ancient Bow, but that's -70%. Maybe there's something else because it does feel slow, I wish Zora weapons were as good as they look.
Also, for those curious of the specific stats for the Royal Guard's Bow (this is what I've gathered):
+50% range before trajectory drop-off
1.5× draw speed
+70% projectile speed
0.8× reload speed
So the recovery time after firing is slightly longer, but otherwise it's a nutty bow, I love using it!

Even in a video about ranking bows, you can't stop yourself from giving us little snippets of knowledge, like explaining how you can use the Bow of Light outside the Ganon fight. :D I really like it; it goes to show that you're aware other people watching this video might not know about any speedrunning techniques or other glitches, and makes them feel more involved.
I personally love the duplex bows because if I use a regular bow and headshot an enemy and switch to do head shots with the duplex bow head shots immediately frozen again with another headshot and then you can just do that till it dies
Hate to break it to you, but headshots do not stack with the frozen 3x bonus. So doing the first headshot + freeze is smart, but then you can just hit your target wherever and the damage output is the same
Trial of the Sword taught me how powerful supposedly mediocre bows like the Soldier's or Spiked Boko Bow can be when used well. Regarding the Silver Bow, when I look at data tables I cannot find any reduced draw speed or fire rate for this bow, nor have I noticed this in my casual playthroughs. Are you sure you perception wasn't altered by using a quick bow like the Great Eagle or Falcon right before using the Silver? Great video though!

@@Tom-dc2en gotta be honest, I have no idea what you are talking about here. I just grabbed a Silver Bow from Zora's Domain to test this and I had no problem windbombing with it, even though I'm out of practice.
The silver bow does have reduced draw speed, but I've never cared.

Once you learn the basics, it's pretty easy to quickly improve in English by watching vids etc. I'm french, but I think English is one of the easiest languages to learn since you basically see it everywhere. Pronunciation is another matter though..

Falcon bow one of my favorites. It's so versatile and great durability.
I personally love the bows too just the very basic wooden ones are my favorite but other then that they all have a very unique and sleek design to them
I LOVE the ancient bow. I always have 3 on me and 1 at home so I can duplicate. I also have 7 800 durability ancient shields.
Great tierlist apart from the Twilight Bow, which at least deserves a spot at the bottom of the S tier. It's the only bow that shoots arrows in a completely straight line, has the highest range in the game, and with the durabiltiy modifier, also has the highest durability in the game clocking at 140 (besting the ancinet bow at only 120) making it the ideal weapon for durability transfer. And of course, you haven't neglected to mention its tendency to use light arrows instead of consuming regular arrows which essentially grants it unlimited ammo.

Weird fact about the ancient bow. It actually has the same range as other longer range bows, like all the rito bows and the duplex bow (which all have a range of 40), but the arrows fired from the ancient bow are affected differently by gravity. Normal arrows in the game drop at a rate of 9.8 meters per second, but the ancient bow fires arrows that drop at a rate of 2.8 mps. I really don’t know why they didn’t just make the range longer.
I could be wrong, but I think the reason they did this was because the in-game flavor text when you go to buy the ancient bow says that the it's supposed to shoot arrows in a straight line (for most of its usable range). I suppose that making the arrow drop slower than others makes it travel in a straighter line when compared to arrows fired from a normal bow. Pretty clever!

I’ve never tried speed running, so I like the bows that zoom in. Especially for the look out bokoblins & korok nut jars, balloons in some situations. But can see how they are probably not as helpful for your speed run play throughs, after watching a few of them. Interesting to see you ratings & learn more about the different bows!

I agree almost 100%. S tier is perfect (even though I use the savage lynel bow more than the GEB, but I agree with your reasoning to put GEB 1st). A tier I would put the swallow bow at the bottom and move the royal bow above the forest dweller bow. B tier I would rank the basic lizal bow between the soldier's bow and the traveler's bow. Love what you do Limcube!

I’d like to make an argument for the Royal Bow being in the top of A-Tier
The first point is its base power, range and durability are great, with 38 base damage, a range of 20 and durability of 60. The second point is that Royal Bows are relatively common. You can find them on Black Hinoxes and Blue and Red ones once you progress farther into the game. This means that Royal Bows can be farmed every Blood Moon, which makes Royal Bows an incredibly reliable bow to use for everything and not worry about it breaking.

Me doing memory storage glitch just to get the Bow of Light, man that was awesome. Shooting Guardians across the map with pin point accuracy is so fun and it looks absolutely badass. It also lights up dark rooms if you hold it lol

So fun fact about the Royal Guard bow, even if you aren't using durability transfer, for some reason the Durability Up+ modifier can give it more than double the normal amount, around 45 durability with 50 attack in terms of raw numbers outperforming just about everything except multi shot bows. Couple that with the faster rate of fire and improved range makes it quite fierce even in vanilla as one of the best single shot bows.
In my opinion the duplex bow is very useful early in the game as it is a multi shot bow and because you can obtain it so easily in high numbers from the yiga. Having six or seven of these in your inventory already allows you to duplicate and maintain items you want to keep with the menu overload glitch. It was the first bow I actively went for in my master mode playthrough. When you beat Medoh first you can have infinite great eagle bows using the duplex bows and are basically set for a huge part of the game. After that it is basically useless tho as the great eagle bow is better in every way.

While bows are really good relative to other weapons, it would have been interesting to see a full tier list that ranks the bows without considering anything else (Basically stretching this list all the way out to F tier). It would allow for more distinction between bows that were ranked in the same tier in this format.

It's no coincidence that on my 100% save file, I have all of the bows from S tier, with the exception of the Falcon Bow, as I have a Durability Up Twilight Bow instead (in order to durability transfer, as it's the most durable bow in the entire game). I think it's also interesting that there isn't a "bad" bow in the game as opposed to weapons, which I'd say stems from the fact that elemental arrows can give you the advantage more than the bow at face value, as well as how you can kill any overworld Guardian even with the puny Boko Bow as long as you have an Ancient Arrow. Can't wait to see your shield tier list btw! :)
Bow of Light and Twilight Bows are bad bows then, they can't shoot element, bomb, or ancient arrows.

I love Duplex bow, the range is amazing, I thinks this is the most easy to get 40 range bow. yiga clan always show up hundred times a day so it's easy to stock up, the two arrows are aiming the same spot is also great too. Usually I will save at least 1-2 duplex bows in my inventory

I actually completely agree with this tier list. I think range and fire rate are far superior stats to have then just damage and durability. The durability issue for any bow really is solved with the durability duping glitch and if you really want to do big damage then farm 5 shot savage lynel bows or Great Eagle bows or shoot ancient arrows. Honestly, I think I like the quick shot royal guard's bow the most just because it as Limcube said is an absolute machine gun. It has less damage than the 20 attacks up version of it but the firing speed allows you to gun down enemies so much faster and it feels so damn satisfying to use. It does use your arrows like a machine gun would though so either you do the arrow glitch or give Beedle all of your rupees.

One thing about duplex bows is that they're super common especially after defeating the Yiga Clan. Also at least in my experience it's pretty easy to do menu overloading with duplex bows as well. Everyone says you should use 3 or 5 shot bows but I have no issues using duplex bows for it.

The lower powered bows do have alot of useful aspects. Freezing a horse without killing it and like you said BTB's. Sometimes doing a kill shot is not wanted. I haven't been able to durability transfer bows, keep messing up somewhere. Would love to be able to use Royal Guard's Bow. I think your ranking is spot on. Great job.
Another great list, and unlike your melee weapon list, since you put an even greater emphasis on this being a speedrun tier list, I can't argue. I can only say from a casual runners perspective, I would move the Falcon Bow down to A tier, Twilight Bow up to S tier (because it has the highest possible durability for transfer and all-around great utility). The Bow of Light, however, I would place in its own broken tier above even S tier for how obviously overpowered it is, regardless of how difficult it is to obtain via glitching (although you can simply save edit/mod it into your game if you have the means).

great video! though i'd put the steel lizal bow lower than the zoom bows. the firing rate is as slow and clunky as the lizalfos that carry them. and the rest of it's stats are very underwhelming except for durability which doesn't matter bc of durability transfer
Thanks! Great reference! You definitely illustrated why I need to take my great eagle bow off the wall and use it. I just don't want to break it even though it can be replaced, but that's sentiment and not practicality talking. I need to find and watch a speed run that kills a golden lynel with just a rock...wow. I still struggle to kill non goldens with my best set up. Just the difference between a great player and me, lol. 😀😀😀 p.s. the amiibo cards make it really easy to get all the rewards for a lot less money than buying the amiibo figurines...that's how I keep at least one twilight bow in my arsenal...and I do love them for dragon part farming especially. The amiibo cards are about $24 for a complete set and you can use multiple sets which I didn't expect. I found that out after accidentally buying 2 sets thinking I had wasted my money but thought what the heck, I will just try it and both sets work on the same day. It's still a pay wall, but $24 -is a lot more affordable than hundreds of dollars for the figurines.
P.S. can't imagine why anyone would comment negatively about anything in your videos. You are always respectful and explain your reasoning and your English is fantastic. You seem like a really great guy and you are a wonderful resource for anyone playing this game.

Some notes from an early 2023 (glitch heavy) perspective:
- Ancient Bow, Bow of Light, and Twilight Bow should all be noted that they are considered neither wood nor metal, so they don't attract lightning and don't burn in fire, which is a big point in their favor. You can have them equipped at literally all times and never worry about it.
- In my opinion, the Bow of Light is now indisputably S tier due to IST being an incredibly easy glitch to perform.
- Because the Boko Bow is so insanely available during the Great Plateau and other earlygame segments and bows being vital to speedrunning, I honestly might rank the Boko Bow _above_ the Spiked and Dragonbone variants. It's sheer availability and lack of competition during that portion of the game push it up by a _ton,_ because like stated in the video, the bow doesn't need to be strong or durable for what it's used for at that point of the game, it literally just needs to exist. By the time the upgraded versions commonly obtainable, so is just about every other bow that outclasses them. Also, Spiked weapons don't get the Bone Attack Up bonus, only the Dragonbone variants do, so the Spiked Boko Bow is even further outclassed.
- WMC has gotten a lot of people to appreciate how good a rapidfire bow is, which the Duplex Bow has natively. Additionally, this means a corrupted Duplex Bow with the 10x multishot modifier will be the rapidfire version without the zoom function (not a big fan of the zoom either). This gives the Duplex Bow a really nice niche among those who use glitches as well as speedrunning. On the flipside, the Golden/Phrenic Bows can have the spreadfire effect even with the zoom function, but that's nowhere near as useful.
- Again, because WMC took the BotW glitch community by storm when it was discovered, I think multishot bows and quickdraw bows deserve a few points in their favor. Naturally multishot bows will fire in a much narrower spread when given the 10 shot modifier as opposed to the ultrawide spread that other bows get (which does look really cool, but it's more of a novelty than it is useful for combat). Quickdraw bows have an advantage within WMC, because quick fire is the one modifier that will actively make a bow worse if applied with WMC. Therefore, a naturally fast-firing bow still has that advantage over other bows, even when corrupted. Both these combined means that the Great Eagle Bow is still the top dog, even more so now because the damage is so ridiculous that the minor differences in most bows' base damage output are essentially negligible, and you can fairly easily give your GEB 800+ durability and have 80k+ arrows of every type, making both those resources almost complete nonfactors and making the GEB competitive with even the BoL and its ungodly damage output.
- Pretty much every "normal" bow (i.e. singleshot, 20 range, regular drawspeed, regular arrow speed, regular arrow gravity) ranks B tier for me. Like previously stated, the differences in base damage are barely a consideration when you're dealing a _minimum_ of 1240 damage per shot, so these bows pretty much all rank the same, as they have nothing to set them apart like absolute standouts such as the GEB and Ancient Bow or neat niches like the Duplex Bow.
- The Silver Bow is nowhere near the worst. Its drawspeed is totally bog-standard. Its only change from a standard bow is its slightly reduced arrow gravity, but it's largely symbolic more than anything. The benefit is way too small to make that big a difference, but it is technically better than the others so it would rank top of B for me.
- The Royal Guard's Bow is the best singleshot bow in the game, bar-none. It has great range, amazing drawspeed, INSANE arrow speed, and durability is not a consideration in glitch land. I keep one without a multishot modifier on-hand for delivering quick elemental effects (namely freezing) that multishots wouldn't be convenient for.
- Savage Lynel Bow is ugly as hell and its sheer DPS is outclassed with WMC. That is all. It's still good and ik people like it but…ehhhh I do glitches for aesthetic purposes.
- Because the Twilight Bow is droppable, it does end up being far more convenient for IST purposes, as you don't have to use bow mounts/desync/prompt entanglement to manipulate the TB in your inventory like you do with the BoL, so it earns a few points there.
- I've said that the differences in base damage for most bows is negligible, but here the BoL is the exception. Because it's base attack is so high (literally double the RGB, the second highest, and 70 points stronger than the Twilight Bow), it's far and away the best in terms of burst damage. This means that the Twilight Bow is still essentially the "discount Bow of Light" even with WMC in play, especially with the infinite durability factored in. However, the impact is lessened on the Twilight Bow, because a 10x 220 Atk BoL is so insanely overkill that you can get along just fine with a 10x 150 Atk TB and still wreck house with it.
- Another essentially symbolic difference is that the Twilight Bow's range is 8000, while the BoL is 500, so it is _technically_ better in that regard, even though the effect is even less notable than the Silver Bow's gravity, because by the time either light bow drops off, the arrows have long since lost their hitbox. However, if you fire them in rapid succession, you can see when the BoL drops off and the TB keeps going. So that's neat.

I would personally rate the Duplex higher. Its so useful in so many situations, not just that one dungeon. Even in a casual playthrough its a bow you'll always be using.

Forest Dweller Bow is decent. Though it has good fire rate it has low projectile speed but I still collet both the Quick Shot and 5 Shot modded versions.

I’m continually impressed by your English, but since you repeatedly questioned your pronunciation of Swallow; I think you pronounced it correctly first each time (with your adorable German accent 🙂). Swallow rhymes with follow, not fallow. The a sounds the same as the a’s in baa baa, not the a in black sheep. I’m not sure if this helps, but the French name Soileaux sounds the same, or at least I can’t tell the difference.

One of my favourite hobbies is going to a bokoblin base and bombing everything to shreds with a 5-shot Savage Lynel Bow and bomb arrows.
It's really satisfying to see everything being nuked because i am a berserker that kills everything i see.
as someone who has "Collectors Anxiety" for those who get the reference, I think the Phrenic bow because if you are using either of them late game it's purely for aesthetic purposes and the Phrenic bow is much more compatible with outfits and weapons(most of them, the Golden bow looks great with any Gerudo outfit, but the Royal bow replaces any other "golden" outfits to be made)

Bow of light with inventory transfer now should definitely be an S tier, because of how easy this glitch is, like you can get bow of light to any of your saves in under an hour
I've never picked up a duplex bow with a stat enhancement. Attack up, quick shot, or durability up. Do they get stat buffs?
Durability transfer the ancient bow to the royal guard bow and it is almost the best in the game

Anytime im feeling defeated/goalless in my casual run, i go around and kill every lyonel, so my slots r almost always stacked with lyonel stuff, which means i had no idea how poorly they stacked up against other bows so. Thank you for this information truly. Also, it majes having the normal lyonel bow feel worse than a boko bow. I Detest the normal lyonel bow
