I'm surprised cat cafes never caught on in the US. It seems like a perfect shelter situation. The cats get socialized, the shop can run itself, people who wouldn't normally go to a shelter would go to a cat cafe. It's just all around good.

This was so heartwarming. I especially liked *the second cafe being shown with the stray cats.* All of the cats love and groom and take care of each other like family. And that could actually be because they were so lonely or hurt before back when they were strays. They look so *happy* and *appreciative* of each other. Like they're *thankful* that they have each other. *Whoever said that animals don't have feelings like people do is a dirt-ridden liar.*
If you are in Scotland there is a cat cafe in Edinburgh, I think they are all pedigree cats. Also I believe 2 sisters are trying to raise money to open a cat a cafe in Edinburgh with cats from a rescue shelter who will also be up for adoption. Fab video :-)

Especially in cities where many people live in apts. or move around a lot (NYC, LA, DC) a cat and dog cafe could really help people find a nice companion, relieve stress and hopefully give a home to an adorable pet

Please everyone, adopt pets from a shelter. Aside from the cost, purebred critters have a chance of having health problems that comes from irresponsible breeding. Shelter cats make great pets.
I recently adopted a kitten from a cat cafe here in Arizona that just opened this year. It is similar to Ekoneko because they are partnered with an Animal Rescue called Lost Our Home Pet Foundation. She turns 4 months today!
When I read "cat cafes" I was expecting a cafe where you can be served by cute girls wearing cat ears and a cat tail while adding -nyan onto every sentence. But this is nice too.

Doesn't seem very different from going to a no-kill cat sanctuary, except sanctuaries are free or you can donate as much or as little as you want. I thought the main draw would be the food, with cats as a bonus.

Oh this is absolutely perfect!!! I would LOVE to go to the second one to adopt a cat!! I don't live in Japan though but I'm so glad to see that places like these are getting popular or at least have one where you can adopt instead of buying them from stores. This is so perfect and I hope there will be more cat cafés that offer adoption in the future. What a wonderful way to meet your new best friend and to give them a second chance!
People ask why I want to go to Japan... THIS IS THE MAIN REASON!! Cats cuddling with you whilst you feed and play with them and read manga and drinking a hot drink at the same time, AND EVEN MORE GOODNESS (And even adopt one if you want!) ! And there you go I just Described Paradise!

This video is so cute! I liked the second cafe a lot more, because it had rescued kitties who were cute and very friendly (they weren't bribed to be cuddly lol). It also had a more homey feeling to it, making it look very comfortable and relaxing. I hope to visit a cat cafe like that when I go to Japan one day!
To rescue street cats and bring them back to health is so lovely. Although Im a dog person I will visit this cafe just to help them save animals.
