There's another video from The Theorizer that suggests that the Beldam WAS once a human but fell down the well into the other world.
That ties to the book as the Other Mother references burying her mother (alive). Coraline the novel is way darker than the film but I love both!
I love that theory! I also love how it explains why in the ‘other world’ the Beldam has a picture of the pink palace from the outside - almost like she needs it to create the visual of the outside for other children - like a reference of sorts!!
oh. my. GOD!!! I have also watched Coraline so many times and I NEVER. noticed that little plush having the different head shape!!!! That is actually so chilling wtaf… I will never be able to unsee that now!! Especially bc we know that quote about how nothing in Coraline was unintentional… that’s so wild… and the fact that you spotted it! It’s there for like a couple frames, so is a huge testament to your hard work and effort that you put into the series 😊🫶🏼 I’m normally a very silent viewer, but that spot just blew my mind!! This is one of my favourite series on UA-cam ever, I’ll be so sad when we get to the final scene 😭🤍
The way time seems to work on the Other World reminds me of the legends about how people would stay on the fairy world for a day or just a moment, and upon returning they discover they've been gone for seven years or so.
Why does Wybies grandma just accept the doll changing? Why does she want it back? Is the grandma actually the Beldame? Is she under her control? She knows too much. And Wybies behavior most of the time is guilty.
I personally think either the grandma or wybie has sacrificed coraline and her family to the bedlam. Hence why he's always shifty/looking guilty. He knows more than he's letting on. It's always the one you least suspect. Trust no one 😢

Coraline likely assumed that the doll was being remade, as the ghosts did mention it being used to spy on them. She probably thought that the Beldam was modelling it after each kid that she had selected before finally getting to Coraline herself. She wasn't told that, but why would a doll that looks like her be used to spy on someone else? Coraline isn't the brightest kid, but she's not clueless at this point in time. She could probably deduce that the Beldam is using old tricks to lure in new victims, including the doppelganger-doll.
I usually just listen to videos while I draw, but I always enjoy watching your videos.
I watch your videos. Sometimes I only listen to put myself to sleep. Your voice is very soothing, but I always rewatch what I missed later.
the picture stains on the wall is most likely caused by dirt and dust build up, as the angle of and placement of the staircase and windows would most likely not let enough natural light in the open space to fade the colour (also since the pink palace is 150 years old the wall paper probably slowly thinned due to moisture and is really difficult to clean)
eyes on the screen here! how could i NOT keep my eyes glued to every frame of a coraline video?? i need to see everything!!!

Also, omg I have never noticed (nor have I seen anyone else notice) the cat ear squid in the "real" world before! That pretty much proves the theory that Coraline never escapes the Other World imo
I've always thought the doll itself was its own form of magic. Like the doll is a vessel for the Beldam's magic in the real world in a way. It needs to be that specific body because that's the one that was cursed or whatever

7:30 to be fair Coraline probably didn’t question it because Charlie might have either forgotten his copy or because he knew Mel was picking him up didn’t bring his copy so to Coraline after picking up a few things he went to the door and rang the doorbell because Mel still had her copy of the keys on her.
It’s want my parents have done in the past mainly my mom in Charlie’s place though her not bringing her copy because she’s with my dad is the most common with her.
imegine she goes into "the real world" and buys the clothes and coming back gifting it to coroline
Personally I belive the theory that the beldam used to be human and the house is trying to emulate what the pink pallace looked like personally I think she is home sick and adding in little details that remind her of home especially since the paintings on the wall remind me of Ashland in the daytime also I think the blue boy painting must have some significance since it's still there after the world gets creepy
I watch (rather than just listen to) your videos - you add so many great visual details!
Currently watching while making dinner. I mostly focus on something else with these videos, but I do like to see details when you're talking about them so it's a mix of both watching and listening I guess. Love your videos ❤
I also wanted to say that picture that stairwell that show a door to a magical place:(17:20 or 2:07) could been one of the movie way foreshadowing where Coraline was going in the movie, at least that i think
Wow what a discovery the plushie is probably the doll now, I never knew that type of dress were real?
A couple things. If Coraline is still in the other world. That means that The Beldam purposely made the shopping go rotting to make her think she was missing in the real world for weeks. Which could be a manipulation tactic to make her go back.
Also, i just realized that Wybie has a lazy eye. Which might not be story relevant, but a cool little detail
Could you offer several timestamps on your observations of Wybie having Amblyopia (lazy eye)? Having watched this movie a lot I have never seen this trait. And if he had Amblyopia it would be consistent every time we see Wybie. I am intrigued.

I watch :) I’ve binge watched all your videos in one the other day as I found your channel, unfortunately got to this episode where I wasn’t able to watch it as it told me to subscribe to watch, was very upset as I was invested after 25 videos!! But happy to see I can now continue to watch :) I wasn’t able to afford to subscribe so very happy I am still able to watch, I’ve learnt so much from this channel!

Also did anybody notice how her parents had NO commentary about the shattered mirror that Coraline broke when her parents were trapped in it?? I mean it is one of the FIRST things you see when you enter the house from the front door.
In your previous videos, you said that the city and the clothing store were probably fake. Is Baldam strong enough to create and maintain such a large and complex illusion? Or did she force Coraline's brain to hallucinate and create something similar to reality on its own?

If it's during the daytime I watch. If I'm going to sleep, I'll start off by watching and maybe a minute in only listening and falling asleep. Or if I have watched the video before, I'll just listen to it as I go to sleep because I find them an easy listen. Not too jarring. And sometimes I don't want an asmr video.
I tend to listen to your videos in the background while on walks but I try to watch these scene breakdowns to known what you are talking about
The flowers in Coraline’s room are also dead now. I’m sure she didn’t have dead flowers sitting on her mantle normally.

tbh I kind of do both. The way I watch YT is in picture in picture so I have YT playing on a corner of my screen while I game etc but I am listening to the audio of YT and mute my game.
I find myself doing both! If I'm drawing I'll look at the screen if you give clues/comparison! Or else I'll just listen, since I've watched the movie few times 🎉

Could you elaborate on your comment that as a parent you found it atypical for Mel to set down the groceries and realizing her daughter was missing she didn’t continue to put away the groceries. To me, it seemed rather appropriate. Wouldn’t Mel be kind of panicked? They are new there, and last she knew her kid was home. This is not to debate your theory. I love your videos. I was just confused about this comment and how it was interpreted in the video. Thank you!
