Negative spades best spades. You're guaranteed to have HP, chips, and damage to lose on a normal blackjack, but unless you happened to already win at blackjack with positive spades, you won't have shields, and you can't go below 0 shields, so their negative effect is negated.
If you stack enough negative cards you can mill your entire deck though. Grab some manipulation cards and you will always have all of them in the first turn and have a bunch of options to influence the rest of the stage. My favorite combo so far is booster pack/memory card or booster pack/dis-card.

I can't believe how quickly the quality of the videos on this channel grew. I couldn't even point out what improved - all I know is that I'm now literally addicted to every single series run here. All I'm hoping is that Tyler is enjoying this channel just as much as we do.
fr though, Can of Wormholes felt like normal Tyler and it has been Tyler+ ever since. i guess the bunny game being a little repetitive had the editors put more of the play on his words ("two chops this time" *dun* *dun*) and more time to poke at the fun bits outside of the Bun moving
After editing for a bit myself, seeing some of the details fleshed out and subtle zooms and effects to shift focus to make following along easier (some I wouldn't have even thought of myself, they've got nice attention to detail) as well as adding to Tyler's jokes is like the cherry on top.
I think negative cards are great as long as you pick your lane, or suit, rather. You got confused by being denied damage, shield, etc at various times, and ultimately it feels like you should go for something like using Hearts as your main suit and Spades as a negative suit rather than playing for Shield, or Spades as main suit and Hearts as a negative suit so you don't deny your own healing, while avoiding matching up your bonuses with your negatives. It's a neat bit of complexity added to the deckbuilding in this to have these parallel running suits and it adds a little additional balancing to other cards that produce random ones or even let you pick from a pool. My only complaint would be that Negative Clubs seems to basically prohibit the only win condition from triggering.
Win condition? When I'm in an infinite loop farming chips, not having enough negative clubs is the only *loss* condition. (And when you decide it's enough farming, you can basically always find openings where the opponent busts and hit them with non-blackjacks --- that is, if you don't have ways to *make* them bust or burn all their cards.)
I love the duality of Tyler's editors. The extreme over-the-top, above-and-beyond effort they put in for the viewers sake in games like paquerette is outstanding. Then there's the very subtle, blink-and-you-miss-it humor that they put in to games like this that don't need much enhancement that I also absolutely love. It's probably overstated at this point, but seriously, hats off to the editors, man. Y'all mesh with Tyler so well and really bring this channel to life in a way that not many others can.
I had reserves about this game since blackjack is basically just luck, but it does seem like the cards added and the "hand" actually does make it balanced. Hope everyone enjoys this vid as much as I do, and hope the game keeps being fun for Tyler
that said, blackjack is also one of the only games that can be won by skill in a casino-you just have to spend a massive amount of time practicing card-counting!
@@cineblazer What I really like about this game however is the fact that card-counting is basically built in, you can click on your draw pile to see which cards remain. This adds a lot of strategy even in the early stages of the game where you basically have a normal deck of cards and I think really helps add a feeling of agency to what's basically drawing random cards.

8:28 - it's one of those "it's not a bug, it's a feature" things - the special card was, I believe, a Booster Pack (you can see the corners) and you could have done even MORE shenanigans. I'm glad you're going gung ho with the negative cards and becoming more risk averse when it comes to hitting in situations where you could possibly bust and end up taking way more damage.
Negative cards lower their suit's effect. So negative hearts make you heal less, negative spades reduces shield you get, negative diamonds reduce chips earned, and negative clubs reduce damage. You cannot go below 0 of any of these. Edit: you can also click the deckromancer's grave cards to change their values, from 6-9 to 1-5. IDK if that's a bug or not.
I feel as if it is. There’s also some glitches with the glitches cards, as you can see the glitch effect through the back of the card when you are picking a random special card. You would basically know that you are getting a glitched card
The reason why you were dealing less damage was indeed because of the negative clubs. Negative cards have reverse Blackjack bonuses, which is why I avoided them like the plague when I played.

I think I have a workable draft design for playing this in paper with a regular deck of cards (though obviously with much less detail/fewer features): 1. Distribute the cards evenly or by draft. Each player starts at 30-50 life. 2. Play black jack, with the winner of the previous round going first (slight tactical disadvantage). 3. Damage rules are the same: the higher hand deals excess points as damage to the other player. 4. On blackjack or on a flush, the suit ability activates; on blackjack, the suit with the most cards in the hand is chosen. For diamonds, draw a card for each diamond card played; for hearts, gain 3 life per heart card played; for clubs, add 2 to the score per club card played; for spades, look at and rearrange the top X cards of your deck, where X is the number of cards with spaces played + 2. 5. First player to 0 or less life loses. Suit abilities might need to be balanced better or replaced outright, but I think it makes sense to start simply.
