This game is quickly becoming one of my favorite series from you. It gives me the same satisfaction as Luck be a Landlord did
I find this far more satisfying than Luck bc it feels like the ratio of strategy to chance is much higher here.

This demo is way more limited than the beta version that was availeble before the developer made a partnership with a gaming company.

Your videos got me to start playing Luck be a Landlord and Balatro, and I have been having so much fun with both!
with the aid of this video ive theorised a "best possible" build. its of course a flush house build with 5 glass cards with a score of 10. the initial multiplier could theoretically be much higher, but ill cap it at the 40 seen in this video. same goes for the initial score which will be 320.
the jokers would all be ones that give multipliers with most being polychrome. first are the three seen in the video, the loyalty card, blueprint and the one that gives an x2 for an empty space. the two others would be the one that gives a multiplier based on planet cards bought which could also go probably much higher but ill cap it at 4 and the final one would be the one that gives x2 if your hand is all spades or clubs. all of these would be polychrome except for one which is negative.
this gives us the final equation (320+50)*2⁶*3*6³*40 which gives us a score of 613 785 600. this could be improved upon by using more planets, but calculating the best possible score for those would require mapping out the entire run to calculate every single piece of gold you can earn which is far outside of my capabilities.
the highest seeded score is in trillions, i believe it uses blueprint on dusk (dusk triggers every card twice) to get a lot of multiplier from glass cards
Blueprint + Dusk + glass card is also good for crazy thumbnail numbers, and scales with multiple glass cards + possibly fibonacci or even steven.
The highest runs I found on dc use aura, which is a spectral card that adds the joker-exclusive effects (foil, holo, polychrome) to an actual card in your deck. These can actually stack with the tarot enhancements, e.g. glass poly gives x3. So dusk goes especially crazy on these, easily outclassing literally everything
Useful info:
1. Some jokers are worded like "if contains [poker hand]", some are worded like " if is [poker hand]". The latter means the poker hand needs to be exactly the specified one, but the former ignores the override (meaning a full house is also a pair and a three of a kind).
2. You can move around cards in your hand. This is especially useful fot Death.
I can't even tell how much of this game's charm is in the hand-made custom fire animation whenever you get a hand that gives you more points than this round's win requirement. And the higher you overshoot, the stronger the fire gets.
This game is so unbelievably fun to watch, I can't wait for it to come out
This game is just great to watch, to see what a person with your puzzle experiience can do once you learn about weird interactions. Like the flush house.

@@ravenshrike He literally considers using temperance during that tarot reading, it's pretty clear that he knew even during that time that he could use tarot cards. Presumably he saved the death to use during a hand to guarantee getting more duplicates.

this build was utterly insane. my best builds havent even come close to a million, let alone two.pretty much the only thing that would have made this build better would be more glass cards and negative jokers.

This game is intensely well made. Part of what makes the demo so fun IMO is just investigating all the strange unexpected interactions/synergies. It’s clear the devs have thought abt a lot, and it makes me super excited to see how much depth the full game will have.

The highest score I've seen posted in the demo is an insane 95 BILLION
The build duplicated a polychrome glass card a bunch and then increased the rank of 2 copies to make flush houses. Just those were insane value but then the jokers pushed it over the top.
That is ridiculous! I love how in so few games you can get wildly varying synergies.
With dusk to trigger the final hand twice I guess? I have been trying with dusk + glass cards, but it is so hard to set up. Must be so satisfying :D

One thing I found really fun while playing the demo is that you are able to swap around the order of your jokers while in a blind, allowing for you to change around cards like blueprint to better benefit you for that specific hand. Would love to see more cards that let you capitalize on that in the full game!

So is it that you need to hit a special hand before it shows up as a planet card? If so rushing to a flush house or five of a kind using arcanas then grabbing planets in the midgame seems really important

This is such an entertaining series, it's wild how much more charm and fun these indie titles have compared to AAA. Maybe it's because they don't take themselves too seriously?

I feel like part of it is that the indie games HAVE to be fun in order to be successful, whereas AAA game companies have figured out that people will buy games no matter what even if they’re not as good. It’s unfortunate but at least we get some really good indie games nowadays

I think the indie vs. AAA thing is because AAA studios spend so much money on making games, they need the game to be profitable in order to reasonably stay in business. I'm pretty dang eat-the-rich fiscally liberal, but I have to admit it still makes sense. There's something plain fun about playing a game with the polish and sheen of a big-budget movie. That takes money and a lot of manpower.
The flip side is that AAA studios can't risk making many games with concepts that they aren't sure are highly marketable. And when they do make more experimental titles, they can't afford to put enough money in them that they could break the bank if they aren't successful. Indie devs can go broke off of a single unsuccessful title too, but they don't have the weight of thousands of employees to lay off and millions of dollars to watch evaporate away if that happens.
@@readypicklesCorporations have figured out that they can just make the same game over and over again and people will still buy them. Look a fifa or assassins creed for example or any ubisoft game for that matter. It's a risk mitigating strategy which actively stands in opposition to creativity.

This video had me screaming at my phone because Aliensrock never tried the Five of a Kind Flush! (5 8s of clubs) That would have been far better than the flush house! (He tried a 5 of a kind, but one of the eights was a spade. He came SO CLOSE to greatness)
It’s possible that flush five of a kind is a thing, but the one time you played a five of a kind there was a spade. If so, that might be stronger than the flush house, and you would start seeing planets for it after you play it once.

Current world record score (in this demo) is about 18 trillion, obtained by BarrelDefenestrator in a "seeded" run. Notably, this run also exploits a bug in the shop. However, about 1.5 trillion was obtained in a glitchless (still "seeded") run. About 1 billion is common in "unseeded" runs by the top players, with the "unseeded high score" being about 100 billion.
The record scoring hands use five Glass cards, for a total of x32 multiplier.
Up until 12:15, you had the Dusk joker which wasn't doing much in your build but caused all of your Glass modifiers to apply an additional time for another x32.
Using Blueprint to copy Dusk, you get another x32 for a total of 2^15 = x32768
The last piece of the puzzle you haven't discovered yet, so I don't want to spoil it for you. But I will give you a hint: Try out some Spectral packs.

I absolutely love this game. I am an fps kinda of player and have never really dived into these types of games. I gave it a shot, and I have not been able to stop. There is already so much depth in this game and I cannot wait to see what other jokers and vouchers come from the full game. I hope you experiment with the joker that makes the suits black and red. Flush house and royal flush become free.

When you talked about the Joker that buffs 3 of a Kind, it actually did buff them when you played a 4/Full House because it recognized that there were 3 cards in your hand with the same value.
This run was a gem to enjoy!

I optimized this to over 50% of my deck being 8's and played a 5 of a kind(43 red) and then multipled by1152(and change) for 22mil

Your logic with the multiplier is a little off in this video - balancing the +chips to be equal to the +multiplier effects isn't as helpful when you have xN multiplier effects that you aren't factoring in. Say you have a hand worth 100 base chips, with +50 multiplier, followed by a x2 multiplier. You'd rather have a hand worth 75 base chips, with +75 multiplier, and a x2 multiplier on top of that. I think xN multipliers might not be applied in an order which maximizes your value, though? Like, there could be additive multipliers which apply after your xN multiplier effects.
I’ve pumped quite a few hours into the demo and only just now realised that the multiplier with the red box around them multiply your shit instead of just adding… 😅

Blueprint has quickly become one of my favorite cards. The ability to swap “priority” effects on the fly is super powerful, since you can move around jokers during play at no cost.
yeah i also don't get their 1 in 3 / 1 in 5 ... to get X , because even with 100% chance you still miss a fight and a shop for a card that might not be coherant with your build ...

The highest score in demo is in trillions. The combo inklues just jacks, queens and kings and the jokers that make your queens play twice when played also a joker that gives one of the face cards a 1.5 mult. There are others but i dont remember those

Math fact: Doubling either factor (chips or mult) doubles the total score, regardless of which factor you double or how high it is! Only worry about adding to the lowest factor, let multipliers do their own thing regardless.
