As my coach use to say: "people who work hard and are talanted gets first places. People who work hard and are not talanted gets second places." It is true. In any proffesional sport at any time there will always be a talanted hardworking champion, but as long as you love what you do, keep working and you will be great at what you do - just not the world record holder or anything..
@@JohnJo-qn7wqMate they are both extremely athletic how do you little kids not realise this, if any of them weren't super athletic they wouldn't be playing professionally
Jerome Alday imagine you are good at math in 6-7 grade because you have that talent, but in 8-9 grade you start not knowing things and its getting harder for you, and its harder for you to study because you actually never really done it, because you knew everything. And the people that study and work hard without talent are getting better and better.
Talented or not, everyone will eventually end up dead. Just do as much as you can, with what you got, and enjoy the journey as much as possible. Life is too short to envy talent and look at what others have.
NEW VIDEO: Talent vs Training. When it comes to being great at something, which matters more - relentlessly training your whole life, or the genes you are born with? Find out here: ua-cam.com/video/2ZiRZrYo5tA/v-deo.html
Hey AsapSCIENCE, could you put the links to the studies you are referring in the video. I remember you usually do ! Thanks for the videos ! Love watching them :)
Warren Adams-Ockrassa Why wouldn't 'great genes for athletics' also be a value judgment? I agree that one can have great genes for athletics but not for science or friend-making.
The worlds elite, at ANYthing, from golf to math, music, chess, athletics etc, have both. You cannot possibly get into the elite best of the world without spending 10,000 hours in 10 years. Everyone and anyone who has spent their 10K in 10 years did get into the worlds elite! Simple!
Im retarded at sports but i have natural born talent for mathemathichs, yet i dont ever study math cuz i dont really care and i love playing sports but im terrible.... so its a lose lose situation Ironic...
*I was born as average as anyone can get*. *That is why I get up 6AM every morning & hit the bed at 11PM to work on my goals*. *Sometimes I even skip sleep*. *Because I know that I have to work twice as hard than those born lucky with a* "*Talent*". *It's unfair but I wont complain*, *because the fulfillment I get from my hard work is the best feeling in the world*.
I don't think you twice as hard, I sleep at 3-4am and wake up at 7:30 am, and I get called talented, I hate talent cuz I don't believe that talent exists, and I feel like they are only giving credit to my "talent" for achieving well.
Maximum Endurance is a talent, Endurance is not a talent. Some people have more endurance even if someone else has trained as much as them. You can have great endurance(via training), but for the best endurance you need to have the right genes in your DNA.
K2 Hbu Actually Goku trained more efficientlly and had more trust in himself. Remember how Vegeta said he gives up fighting after Gohan lost to Cell. With that mentality you won't grow strong too fast meanwhile Goku gave his best in the other world and could also train better due to being dead(anime logic). The same for hyperbolic time chamber, Goku's training method was better.
It's been confirmed in the Dragon Ball Super movie that Goku is a prodigy. Unfortunately for Vegeta, Dragon Ball is too 'realistic' when it comes to talent vs training. If only there was a for us to create innate abilities instead of compensating with mere skills. Skills also don't affect your perception the way that an innate ability (talent) can.
+xXPyroTimeXx It is also not just about working hard you got to work smart. I probably sound like a jerk but; I was trying to get better at something for years without much success... finally decided to be more scientific with my training methods and got a huge boost in my performance.
So what will you say to your kid when you get old "back when daddy is a little boy daddy worked so hard but then give up because daddy isn't a natural?" or Just be a real athlete and FIGHT even if there's a wall called natural talent that others have
Thank you. I find it so frustrating when ppl act like they're some sort of enlightened monk and go "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard". Talent works hard all the time in anything and everything, especially when you reach competetive levels of something. More ppl with talent will train and hone it to at least some extent then ppl with talent that simply let it go to waste
@@freshappleseed6966 Talent is nothing but genetics, so your being good at it is nothing but a stroke of luck. No one is interested in the ones who are lucky, people look up to those who had to go through the worst and hit many rock bottoms before actually succeeding. If you think talent is worthy of showcase, it's just your luck and nothing else, you did absolutely nothing and if you didn't have that luck/genes you would probably never even succeed.
@@vedkorla300 I mean, ultimately it's the ones with talent who typically make it to the highest caliber of what they do: Athletes , scientists, artists, etc. People look up to those who are the best regardless of whether or not they've had it rough. Regardless tho, talented people face challenges and hardships too. Not even the most talented person in the world can stand up to a person who has both talent, work ethic and determination. Talented people work hard too, it's not just either or. Anyways, that's not to say that people can't reach an incredibly high level of expertise of something through hard work alone, it's just more rare and typically still not as quite as high a level as those who have talent as well.
@@Qidawithaq yea ik there's a lot but ultimately when you get to the top of basically any field, the best will usually have a mix of talent and work ethic
This is so freakishly true. I train my ass off almost everyday and there are people out there who has naturally big bones and muscle who do not even work out.
Your comment is out of the point. The point is there are always people out there that are naturally large even without lifting weights. Besides, I'm not training to look like the Hulk.
If you want to build you can't just 'train your ass off'. Too much training=smaller muscles. You need to cycle building by eating loads of carbs and cutting to reduce body fat rate (you can _not_ build muscle while on a low carb diet). The best advice for beginners is some variety of a three days a week (monday-wednesday-friday) two 'routines' schedule. So lets say workout A is for stomach and legs and workout B is for back, biceps and chest or something like that, and then do A, B, A week one, B, A, B week two, and repeat, to get as many rest days as possible between workouts. Fewer reps with higher weights is generally better, usually five 'lifts' times five for each exercise works. Also, make sure to eat something high carb and protein within 30 mins after you work out or your body will start to consume your muscles to repair damage. Also again, if you really get 0 results, you might have something wrong with your testosterone levels, go see a doctor.
My art professor in college posed the question 25 years ago: Do you learn or do you just discover what you actually already know. The older I get, the more I realize we are genetically set to be what we will be with all other things being equal. My daughter in high school could do her calculus homework, watch TV, and talk on her cellphone all at the same time. And she made all 'A's. She made the HS basketball team, but wasn't the most aggressive or top player. I look back and see the same parallels in my own life.
Elisa Imparatelu I eat 3 eggs with spinach breakfast, lunch can vary from large salad to a sandwich, dinner I have a good amount to eat of all good groups. I consume about 2000 to 3000 calories a day. is that not enough?
Elisa Imparatelu I 'want' to clean the house, but when I get started i feel exhausted in no time. it takes me the entire day to get it don't. a lot of breaks where I feel the need to rest.
this is almost depressing. Its like you can be amazing at a sport if you're lucky but if you're not then too bad coz you'll never be as good as that other guy who's got the genes.
Fortunately, we are not far from being able to genetically engineer future generations for perfection. We've already had great success with primitive genetic manipulation of animals, so with the right technology, mankind might look a bright future ahead.
SinerAthin Are you seriously saying, that genetically modifying people to all be at the same greatness, is a bright future to you? Looks as well? I think that's going to be a very boring and eerie, almost creepy, future.
Rachel Berry Willpower, technique and training are also important factors when it comes to performance. Genetic engineering will simply make it fair for all contestants :P
SinerAthin you know this technology is probably not going to be free... this means superiority for those who can afford it. so in the end it won't be a matter of training/willpower but one of money. do you really want a world where athletes just pay for their performance?
IDK man...I'm an EE/physics dual major and a concert violinist on the side and I share my classes with some real idiots despite how good their grades are.
well talent is more important because you either have it or dont adding the training without the talent doesnt do as much as having both. and the training can be done by anyone who isnt a lazy ass
Same, I'm only great at acting. I have a deep voice but I can't sing, yet people assume that I can and I prove them wrong when I sing average at best I hate this world for making me this corny garbage un musically gifted human. I hate being reminded of how better other people are. We are nothing alike, I'll always be beneath them and never be accepted by them or truly one of them.
I think one reason some people do better in physical activities than others is because their sense of coordination were developed early in life. Good coordination is key to most sports.
I don't think I would call Goku purely gifted. No doubt genetics could and likely did play a part for him. But for that matter genetics probably helped Vegeta too (I mean look at both of their kids - they go super Saiyans as children when up to that point there had only been four super Saiyans in the history of the entire race; though I suppose a case could be made that throwing human blood into the mix somehow gave Gohan, Goten and Trunks greater potential but I digress). Anyway Goku trained since he was a kid. And while we don't get nearly as much of Vegeta's background it would be a fair assumption that he also trained much of his life given his ultimate goal of defeating Freeza. You could argue that some of Goku's success could be found in his genetics, but I don't think that should mean we disregard the constant training he's had since he was 12/14 or whatever. Vegeta might train more than Goku later on because of the fact that he's always playing catch up to him, but Goku worked his tail off too. It's just easy to forget sometimes because of his goofy personality. Both of them trained hard, and got their butts kicked many times, and even died to get to where they are. If you want to talk purely gifted we should be pointing a finger at Broly.
aniel tanis I played some video games continuously for 3 years. All I got from that was strained eyes and missing time. You can try to praise video games all you like, but they aren't' helping you because the downsides outweigh the upsides. And seriously, what are the upsides?
Obama Bin Laden Gaming is actually one of the best ways to improve reaction (that doesn't need to be really hard/expensive) and can also help with geography, problemsolving, better and faster decisions and more depending on which games you play. I dont know if it was sarcastic but i havent seen any research on correlation with screentime and glasses.
As long as you enjoy wasting the time, its not wasted time. Its not about being the best at everything. An attitude that is sadly promoted in so many ways. Just do what you want. I enjoy painting, so why should I stop doing it, just because I suck at it ?
Here is something I would like to share: I started martial arts when I was 8, my instructor thought that I was a "low responder". I had a tough time picking up kicks and forms in particular. Hell, I couldn't even get my roundhouse kick over waist height. Yet now, as I am getting into XMA and tricking, kicks come really easy to me. I can get some in only a few attempts. Sound ironic, right? It all comes down to mind set for me, and this leads my opinion (relax, because it is only an opinion). See, maybe the individuals who were blood related and were "high responders" were simply siblings competing with each other to get good at athletic, or even mental feats. Also, a big (REALLY BIG) factor is simply confidence. If there is even the slightest hesitation or insecurity in your movement it shows up right away. Some of these so-called "low-responders" just have to let go of themselves and there self image in order to discover and unlock their potential. Finally, as for body types, yes there are different body types with different metabolisms and even natural muscle growth, however, as far as I can tell, the only difference between individuals and their ability due to their natural body type, is that they THINK they are strong. It's sad, but in my experience, endomorphs and ectomorphs in particular tend to have a difficult time really pushing themselves to their true limits, only because they have been told time and time again in movies, ads and school that they were simply born unable to be strong. Which, as they find out in varying degrees of time, is bogus. This is why I believe that in maintaining an internal locus of control, anyone can become anything. They just have to love it, and, to an extent, let go of themselves. Good luck in whatever you do!
This is very true. An art teacher I knew said that anyone can learn to be an artist and be able to draw. Nope, not true. Some people are just born with that talent and a good drawing hand. If that's not your talent, you can't learn to draw just as perfect as someone with that talent
You CAN learn to draw, you'll just never be as GOOD at drawing as someone with talent who also takes the class and puts the same amount of work in. You can still do it.
***** your right, i am naturally good at art but someone who wasn't maybe as good as me still got a higher grade because they work hard and have the right temperament. i usually quit half way through a drawing. whereas they do work hard and so got the higher grade. i'm in year 8
But you can. We all started with squiggles. Us artists just kept drawing squiggles until they became lines and shapes. It just takes YEARS nonstop everyday. Going through school you know what was on every side of every homework? Doodles. AKA practice.
I guess I have a high baseline. I always found growing up that things were really easy to do. I think this has had a negative effect though because it's taught me that I can get by just fine by being a lazy piece of shit. Now that I'm older I'm realizing that most jobs don't really care about how talented you are at a job. They prefer a positive hard working attitude, even if you mess up a little. I'm not saying it isn't fair, it is, I just wished I had been challenged more as a kid.
I feel the same way, mate. It's frustrating because I'm like, borderline smart. So a lot of things come easy, I didn't have to work very hard to get straight A's...but, I'm not a genius. I can't be a Bobby Fischer, or Magnus Carlsen, Stephen Hawking, or Alan Turing. I'm stuck in this in between world. It's kind of boring.
I feel EXACTLY the same way. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there.... I always feel pretentious saying that "I'm good at everything" but it's true! I am...therefore I was never challenged to work hard. I really feel you.
slayer butcher With a name like Slayer Butcher, i'm assuming that you are around the age of 10 so i can't disagree that you probably haven't had a great childhood considering you think Pokemon is a joke. Tell you what mate it requires more skill than Call of D00ty. #Quicksckopezfam
Imagine that someone as a normal person starts at level 1 and the gifted person starts at level 10. The goal is to reach level 100. Of course, the gifted person has a better start and a higher success rate, but that doesn't mean that the normal person can't win. He just has to work harder, even if it won't be easy if the talented ones work too. So in the end, hard work beats talent, because talent is simply a better place to start. Hard work is the endless potential you have. (I just want to give some love to normal people, including me)
***** That makes no sense and you don't understand the definition of talent. Talent isn't itself a skill but your ability to pick up a skill, a talent for skiing or chess doesn't imply that person was just born knowing how to ski or play chess, they were simply born with physical characteristics which give them an advantage in those areas, whether its improved spatial and temporal reasoning for chess, as well as a good memory for moves encountered previously or superior muscle control, endurance and sensory processing for skiing. The genetics weren't taught, they didn't teach their muscles or minds to behave in certain ways but they did have to learn the skill which demonstrates their 'talent' and sports fits in with this just fine, a natural talent for something is meaningless without time spent learning the skill which showcases your talent.
It's like this with artistic ability. You either can draw or you can't. You can't 'learn to draw'. You can only improve already existing skills. (I like the drawings in this video!) The video focuses on sports because most people are obsessed with sports and it's the Olympics. Apparently it's more important to kick a football than to calculate the distance to another solar system.... The world is run by low responders. The coaches, the software engineers, the scientists. The ones that realized that sports wasn't for them but were intelligent and went on to create products, inventions, and medicines we use today.
limbdarkening correct. I found at a young age that most art teachers never bothered to teach me anything and focused primarily on other student since my natural ability gave me more understanding on what, how, and when I drew something. but being a talented artist dose not automatically mean you shouldn't try and practice. many new techniques can be found when you practice and as an artist one should never settle for to long.
Both are required to truly succeed. Pure talent is great but you will never be your best without proper training. Both go hand in hand and for those 'less talented', work harder. You may have to do more but don't say you can't do things just because you don't have the talent. Training can make up for what talent you don't have. Always believe.
Deku from MHA is the definition of hard work over talent because while he wasn't born with a quirk, he had the mindset to succeed and his lack of born superpower was also made up for in intellegence. He wrote everything down about his peers fighting styles giving him an edge and he improved over time. Fake it till you make it. (Unless you are in the medical field where you probably should get training first)
@@Friendly_Neigborhood_Astolfo he was given the literal best quirk to ever exist... Asta is a much better example while he ends up getting wacky powers they would be worthless and require much more hard work to be used effectively than magic his powers are just worse harder to dominate magic
i deeply hate the concept of talent. the dact that humans are not born equally and cannot get in the same point by working the same amount of time. life is totally unfair
Ikr I have terrible stamina. I've managed to increase my strength, flexibility and balance through hard work but it just doesn't cut it for my stamina. I jump rope, I run, I do cardio exercises and eat well. Yet I still can't run or even jog a hundred meters without feeling like passing out.
I know what u mean. I play basketball and have trained intensely for 3 years, i am only 6ft so it is more difficult for me. What annoys me is that my friend who is 6ft5 joined in a game one day and almost out performed me, with very little training. Genes suck
+R4GE QUIT UK that shouldnt happen lol, my friend is 5,2, im 5,11 and he destroyed me. If you are fast and have good ball control compared to him, you should wreck him.
+Janice Tan I'm in the same boat as you. I've trained hard to increase my strength, flexibility and stamina. However, my cardio just simply lacks compared to others and I think i'm not as naturally strong as others. I am however more naturally flexible than most people though and can pick up techniques quicker than others.
True Heart Ikr. I feel that it's so unfair that people are born less able to do things compared to others. Even with my strength training i'm still weaker than others. Only my flexibility has vastly improved to the point of me being more flexible than my friends.
Guys everyone has pros and cons. Equivalent exchange guys. If you are talented in a lot of things, then there's a couple of things that you would suck a lot at at. If you're average in everything then that means you are a jack of all trades. If you suck at everything you do, then there's one certain thing where you have the most outstanding talent in that you are almost at pro level without any training. Anyway, that's how I view things
+Daniel Orefuwa If that was the case...I would've discovered my talent already. I suck at nearly everything (video games, academics, time management, exercising, doing work, etc)
I'm one of those who gets super results from training. I weigh 84kg at 183cm, with little bodyfat and pretty large muscles. People always ask me if I work out, but no, I just play videogames and eat junk food. I do have other shortcomings though. Depression runs in the family on both sides, and I'm slightly colorblind. So, despite great genes, my perception of the world isn't the best. I'd rather be a fat, dumb, ugly, poor, happy man than the man I am today. Maybe one day I will be content. I just gotta find a way to get there.
***** Yeah, I'm trying to get there. I'm in university atm, I play guitar at least an hour every day and sit around and try and learn things all the time. But I'm still not content with my life. I believe it's because I don't feel I've accomplished anything yet and my closest friends aren't here with me. I can't wait to graduate so I can get a good job, a nice apartment with a few good friends, and just have a nice chill life where I can do what I want. With key emphasis on apartment with friends. I think having room mates whom you like activates your life.
No0bT4rD depression and anger, if you can get all your calories in, the stress almost acts as a steroid( not saying that all fit people are edgy). Love your perception though how youd rather be fat dumb poor ugly and happy then fit and unhappy. I can relate to you on so many levels....! Especially when I drink ( i had to quit drinking im only 18 lol )... But your on your way to finding yourself your goal of happiness, how do I know? I read your comment, and well, you got a good head on your shoulders bud.
No0bT4rD I think you may be exaggerating about the "little bodyfat" and "pretty large muscles part." Unless you get your bodyfat percentage measured properly, what you're saying may just be bullshit.
People who say "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" are forgetting that people with a talent for their field are either going to have an easier time working hard than others or have more motivation and incentive to put the work in to make the most use out of their talent. What reason does a talentless individual have to pursue what they want other than it's what they want?
No, it cannot. At least in athletics. No matter how hard I train I will never be able to throw a 95 MPH fastball of perform a windmill dunk. I'll never be able to run a 4.3 40 or hit a 500 foot homerun no matter how hard I work, because training cannot make up for lacking genetics.
+joseph marta That's just naive. How would evolution even take place if all differences between organisms were superficial? It's all in the genes 90% of the time.
Imma just go over some comment section stuff rn "I have no talent :((( boo hoo me It's not fair #crie" - Here's some life advice: *everyone has their own talents*. A talent can pretty much be anything, not sure athletics, gaming, art, or music. It can be listening, gardening, cooking, memorizing, organizing, etc. etc. Plus, you might think you don't have a talent for something, but REALLY you're just comparing yourself to other people and saying "well I'm obviously not as good as them so I must have no talent"- but you don't even know how much experience they've had K... hopefully you get it. Just really ticked off with all these "Boo hoo I have no talent I have to work so much harder than other ppl life is so unfairr" Like yeah, life is unfair but not in the way you see it.
Brando Colmenares Don't forget that the word 'unfair' comes to different situation. Some ppl might be total talentless but born in a wealthy family, while some may be talented but need to experience tramas.
To me learning a skill is like a lap in a pool. Talent is that first push off the wall which can propel you a long way, but after that easy glide you have to start your stroke. That stroke is training, and without it you'll sink.
but everyone does have a pre-determined ceiling. you also can't grow more muscle fibers, and some are just born with more than others. yes, everyones ceiling may be way higher than they will ever realize, but the fact remains that that level is different for everyone.
QuahogMC You can train a small, dainty dancer or acrobat to be a massive power lifter, or a short sprinter to be a marathon runner, with enough training. They may need more guided and personalized training to out-compete naturally gifted people, but it can happen. Someone with fewer muscle fibers than someone else can simply train to have stronger muscle fibers than them.
I'm a low responder for sure and no matter how hard I try my grades at gym class are horrible. There's no way I'll become an Olympian... and I have low endurance too. I'll stick to my talent in learning.
Michael Nyholt No, you can't actually. If it's not in their genetics to be Arnold, they won't be. They might be able to powerlift, but assuming someone with running genetics is going to win a powerlifting competition is a disney fairytale. go with science, not politically correct.
QuahogMC It's never been tried before but I think specialized, personalized diet and training can make anyone into anything. It would be harder to go against your genetics but it's possible.
This is why I stopped taking school so seriously. When I don't understand something by the required time, I just cheat. Not because I'm an advocate for it, but because I do learn - but maybe a month "late". That doesn't warrant failure in my book. Sure, the rate at which things click might be an important metric to some people. But by the time it ACTUALLY matters, I know what I need to. Putting objective measures in place is kind of ridiculous to me and definitely doesn't account for other important things.
I am a good Artist. And everytime someone comes to me and says, they wish they'd be just as good, they dont realize that behind my 'talent' are years of practice and training. Everyone can become great at anything. It takes time and willpower.
The fact is if you want to be great at anything you need talent to start with AND training to back it up. However the spirit in which this question was asked reminds me of another question: "Is it better to be skilled or lucky" the answer is always lucky with skill you have to practice but with luck you do not so it can apply to anything on your first try, also the lucky can still practice and add some skill into the mix as well. Applying that logic to this question the answer is talent.
the testing is completely flawed.... here's why, some people have greater 'work ethic' and thus they're more 'trainable' and that's why a correlation was seen between siblings in terms of response as oppose to it being genetic. If you're from a family where you parents encouraged 'work ethic' your response to training would be far greater than an individual who lacks similar drive regardless of 'training background'.
Great point. I'd love to see a study where they (somehow) take this into account. Perhaps using a random sample set where instead of being based on familial relations it's just based on genetic similarity.
"Work ethic" is an interesting variable to consider, although it would likely be more of a separate test with this conclusion in mind rather than a re-adaptation of the original experiment. This is because the concept of "work ethic" is psychological, thus it has its own nature vs. nurture divide. Of course, in terms of practical applications of this experiment, "work ethic" is among the variety of variables that need to be considered. But at the same time, that doesn't make this experiment "flawed" per se; it's just not the whole picture.
What about the Tom Brady effect? The guy was slow at the NFL combine, wasn't in as great of shape as many of the others were, and everybody thought he was a nobody. He almost didn't even get drafted. Yet his desire was 1000x more than every other guy in the draft. There is more to talent than physical abilities, and you can still reach the top without the genetics, even if genetics are an easier ride.
Let's face it, not everyone can get into the NFL, or NBA etc. unless they're really good to begin with. Sure he improved his game while in the NFL, but getting in is a feat of itself. (talent) Meaning, he already had talent, he just needed to develop it further to get the results he's showing now. I for example put in the same amount of work as friends around me and one in particular always improves faster than me in less time. I believe talent is one's speed in their ability to improve at something. Sure someone might spend 40 years skateboarding but then all of a sudden there are kids better than them who have only been skating 5 or 10. That is talent and unfortunately, it can go to waste or be underused if the person isn't hungry enough. But I'd still say Tom Brady had talent, he just hadn't had a chance to develop it until later.
He wasn't very good physically but he had great skill at the position he needed to play. The quarterback's only job really is to throw, and if he does that at a high level then everything else doesn't really matter. He is just horrible when it comes to scrambling but history tells us that the non-runnining quarterbacks tend to win more.
The good thing about people without any talent is that they learn to work hard. The talented people don't need to work in order to get better (or don't need to work as much), whereas the others learn to work hard. So just keep doing what your doing, keep pushing yourself, and the not so talented ones will rise above and learn the greater lesson: hard work. That was so serious lol but I had to
Everyone has a talent and can do better at something than some one else. Even if a person with a lot of training comes in. Some people can do things better than others and talent is what we were born with. All of us have one talent in particular. Yet people with training can have similar results but maybe not as better as someone with a talent.
“There's no talent here, this is hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all equal as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that is that. I am not talented, I am obsessed.” - Conor McGregor
Science has proven otherwise. You can love something, train hard everyday of your life for it, and some people who train less are better then you. This isn't just for athletics. Can anyone be Bill Gates of they tried hard? No, they can't. Intelligences, physical or mental, are inherent in certain individuals. It's genetics, not choice. Mother Nature doesn't care about choice, it cares about having skills and honing them. That's just how it is.
that little chicken shit's obsessed with being a coward. timer stalling an mma fight so your points stay high and running from your opponent should lose you points
I don't know about the skier on the left, I mean it seems like it would take some real talent to break both of your skis simultaneously in the air like that...
This video made me depressed. Not because I am not a high repsonder, but because I think I am. My uncle actually was an olympic sprinter. No I am got depressed because I sit around all day using my head, instead of my legs...
Don't be depressed its never to late to pick up an interest in running or athletic activities along with developing your brain and being the smartest and most fit you can be all it takes is a little bit of work
KUFitness so you are saying he should do it, just because he might be good at it, weather or not he wants to ? Haven't you seen Good Will Hunting ? It doesn't matter what other people expect you to do because of your abilities. In the end it comes down to your decision what to do with you time. And I suggest doing as much as possible of the things that make you happy.
teekanne15 i never said he should do anything i just told him its never to late to try something new and find out maybe he will like it and if he doesn't he can continue with whatever he did before
When the truth about how life really works is realized people will stop caring if they are good enough, popular, winners or losers etc. What really matters in life is to learn how life works and how to live in the best way possible according to its laws. No one is better or worse than anyone, everyone is just as good, everything will balance out in one way or another, sooner or later. People who have advantages right now will hava a harder time to accept the truth of life now, but it is the only way to real comfort, peace and fulfillment. Everyone knows the truth subconsciously at some level, so people just needs to learn about the big picture of life, then they will realize that what society and their own egoes think life is about doesnt really mean anything at all. Google *Truth Contest* and read *The Present*, its the most important document on earth and it will will completely change your perception of life for the better when you read it.
Dont worry. People like you become billioners because they have something or do something that no one has or did. You just have to work on it and find it out be creative and you'll see results.
If talent is ''trainable'' which it's certainly not. Then with the right amount of training. I could become as good as a musician as Mozart or Beethoven, or sing as well as Adele, which is never going to happen. Talent does matter. But that doesn't mean you can be very decent at something without talent, training helps a lot of course, but if you want to reach the top, you want to have talent for something.
This video is 100% true and those who deny it are only lying to themselves. I'm a cross country runner and I've been doing it for 4 years. It is very obvious to any runner that genes play an incredible part in who is going to be fast, and who is slow. I'm not talented. I train hard to watch myself slightly improve yet I'm still only decent at best. Yet, the sibling of an amazing runner is able to join the team and instantly start beating those who have been training their asses off for years. Best part is, he's not in shape, and he doesn't train half as hard as the rest of us. If he trained as hard as me, he'd already be at the level of his sibling, while I could perhaps never reach that level no matter how much I tried. It's all in the genes.
Its not all in the genes. You have to work hard and practice. People who practice more are better than people who just sit on the couch doing nothing all day.
Question is: this is correct for sports, and physical exercise, where it is more a question of potential rather than talent. But how much is it true for questions where real "skill" is involved, like tennis, football, basketball, even arts like drawing, writing etc..?
It's the same deal. People with natural talent shoot and draw better than others with both parties being untrained, and improve much more and faster as well. I don't understand your "real skill" distinction. Even running requires skill and some people have a great (running) form without training because they are naturally talented. The same is true with the sports you just mentioned, talent gives you "natural" skill.
KuronoXD well, if you have "heavy bones" you're probably not going to become a sprinter, in this vid that's called "skill", although I think it should be separated from, for example, the skill required to become a number 10 in football, which everyone can become under certain conditions that have more to do with your mental building.. that's what I call skill..
TimmacTR Having talent doesn't mean you're good at everything, you can have natural talent for different things. I'm a natural sprinter. I could run faster without training than people that had been practicing for a year, but my endurance sucks, my body just isn't suited for long performance. The same applies for people with "heavy bones", they'll never be as fast as someone with a lighter build, but they'll run over the running back or quarter back in American Football. Claiming that anyone can become number 10 is wrong, as they'd need to be at least on the same performance level as everyone else in the team. And that's where just having physical talent isn't enough; you'd need to be a natural born leader, which is just another type of talent.
KuronoXD mate what I'm telling is not that difficult. There are things that are genetic, mainly physical ability, and there are things that are learned, like the "eye for the killer pass" in football. The first is mainly passed by genes, and that I would not call skill/talent. The second is learned through interest/culture and other subtle factors that we do not fully know of, and THAT I call skill.. And yes, everyone can become a number 10 regardless of size and speed, because it's a position where the differentiating factor is your vision of the game, your mental abilities..
+ZeoViolet depends. if they want to go for world records, they better stay on their tv. if they do it for better lifestyle, love of sports, or smaller competitive schenes they will find that training will suffice. also they will give their offsprings better sporting genes
+Andy Griffin no it's sorta true, if your family didnt give u sporting genes....it's not looking too good for you but you can still give your children sporting genes, so they might have a chance!
basically i think its saying.. some people just have a natural knack (talent) for things that others do not.. this will mean that training and improving in their talent field will be easier for them... People who do not seem to have a knack or talent for things will have to work harder to get to the same levels.. and yes there are some things that people are just not that good at and regardless of what they do may not ever be as good,, however.. I often wonder if they could still become good at what they say they are bad at if they tried hard enough.. Some people have more patience for certain things than others do.. I draw and paint.. and some people have come to me and said they could never do what I do and wish they had the ability.. but yet do not ever want to take the time to even try really.. they give up way to easy and have no confidence what so ever.. I think so long as someone has a genuine interest and are not forcing them selves they have a chance to be skilled in their chosen area.. They just got to work hard at it..
Not exactly. Its important to remember that the two main factors are 1: What is your baseline and 2: how trainable or how responsive are you? So someone with alot of "talent" or a high baseline could be a low responder with a shitty work ethic. In which case the person with a lower baseline or "talent" but was a higher responder with great work ethic would almost always out perform the other. But if you have a high baseline, highly responsive and have great work ethic then undoubtedly that is an advantage.
Don't complain about talent till you have done everything you can to keep up ,everyone has ceiling do you have the right to complain that someone is better ,when you haven't reached yours.
Well if your only goal for doing it is to be the best in the world then yeah I guess but training only for self betterment isn't unheard of. Also thanks, I learned a new word today :P
I'm over emotional about it because my life is pretty crappy right now. "Knowing" it will never get better is a kick to the jaw. So of course I am going to be sceptical about it. Yeah, it is futile to "be the best" because there is always someone better. I'm just talking about being able to get to a point in your life where you can find joy in what you do.
GreenFox59 In that case you have misunderstood the video, there is no reason why life cannot get any better; only that at specific tasks some people are more naturally adapted than others.
I think Talent is simply skill that one has mastered in their previous incarnation. People are born in the same family with similar interests cause people are born into families that attract them the most, so a family will be composed of similar people. So it's not that genes define our potential, it's the other way round. Our potential defines our genes. It's all in your mind, if you believe you can become the best soccer player or artist or politician then you will. It will take more practice for different people, but if you practice something diligently you will succeed eventually. If not in this life, then more probably in the next. ^^
That or you may improve anothers skill just by your presense of practising/ having skill or both simitaniously. i.e. third party skill influence, Which can last many of years. If you think of it we all get our 'skills' for more then just our own ancesters.
anon ymous Could hold some truth, don't think too much of it tho. My grand parents and parents were all meat eaters to a varying degree and I'm vegiterean. Also none of them were very fit and I love running. Ye, I have no idea about epigenetics xD
#ScienceSays People, again this is a HYPOTHESIS/RESEARCH so it's merely based on observations.Whether a person can do stuff or not DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL ENTIRELY.
nope, genetics is tied to what emotions we feel, how persistant we are, we are pre coded, but the cod is mixed so heavily when born it doesent resemble the parents as much as youd think, hence natural selection.
hagala thekid We arent precoded. And you just seem to have the wrong idea about genetics.See,genes do carry the code for the neccessary stuff like for example good health tissue, body structure, etc. but what's related to emotions/the stuff that people feel/personality,etc. depends on the individual itself. The job of genetics is to code for the neccessities like hair, skin colour, physical features, tissues, cells, gender, etc. The gender does not depend on the genetics as it varies every time, and how it varies is basic biology.Anyways, what the genetics does is that it plays a role in determining the health issues, the body tissues, cellular structure and all the necessities needed to survive. That's what genetics does. Basic Natural selection is only found in animals, not humans.Everyone has the ability to adapt and survive from the start which is why there is no natural selection for humans.
Khejurwala Mondol I think you're both right. Personality still is linked to genetics, in an indirect way however. While emotions are entirely upon your experiences, it is also affected by your natural wiring. The way we get scared, feel happy around your friends, worry about the future it's all due to natural instinct for survival. Personality is also directly affected by hormones like testosterone, and a persons natural preferences(introvert, extrovert).
well first we need to get you on a stage like a youtube channel. It will help you get ready for acting in 2 ways 1 you will get an audience and 2 your going to have only 1 thing in the room that is watching you once you feel good enough with that then go to school for acting classes.
ultimately you reach the top if you practice your discipline and have the fortitude to stick it out when things are bad. practice makes perfect. if you're not interested in the sport or activity and all that comes with it, you'll never be on top.
Thanks to my parents, I have the best kind of "athletic genes" : Intellectual genes… Why value physical talents when intellectual talents can easily overcome physical talents?
PikaUp Says who? This seems like a very stupid concept… I think you have misunderstood the concept of "those who are convinced of being wise tend to be less wise than those who doubt of their wiseness"… Being wise and being intelligent isn't the same… I am not arrogant enough to pretend I am wiser than other people, but there is nothing wrong in believing you are smarter than average. In fact, believing you are less smart than average is simply an excuse to not try being smarter. So those who consider themselves smarter than average tend to become smarter! But the rule isn't the same about wisdom…
iamihop You can be active and healthy while not being an athlete… The best thing is to be physically healthy while being as mentally active as you can… Athletes simply put one kind of physical talent (or a limited number) in front of all other priorities… This can't be good!
Why not both? In my honest opinion, intellect without good physical attributes is useless when facing close quarter situations without much viable options, while too much physical attributes without much intellect will show poor planning and poor tactical skills. A person with both attributes will often be the best leader, but it's all a matter of my own opinion.
Hate to break it to you, but talent is everything. Some people are just extremely naturally good at something, that in a very short amount of time they put themselves waaaay ahead of the pack, doesn't mean they won't face failure or dip etc. But its just how life is. Unless you're naturally good you're not going to be world class sorry, even the "supposed" underdogs or the people who are famous whom we claim aren't talented, newsflash they're actually very talented its just there are people that are more talented.
Gerhardt Weiss He. And I'm not sure. He has studied music, studied teaching in general, has a lot of experience. So I assume he knows what he is talking about. This is Finland we're talking about, so we ask a lot from teachers before they can get the job. And I have noticed that no matter how talented I am, I still need to practise the songs quite a lot in order to get better. Being able to play a song from start to finish is barely the halfway of playing a song well. There's a lot more to it.
Ruth Less Playing an instrument is still related to muscle memory as well, since you use your hands to press they keys at different tempos, in different kind of order and with different amount of strength and release it in multiple different ways depending on the song. Yes, playing a piano well is a bit complicated process. But yeah, I think too that they're different from the athletic ones, since athletic features are more related to survival, which comes natural in our genes.
For playing piano where is all about skills it may be true, but not in sport where physical form is most important like in sprint or marathon running. So there are sports where physical form is more relevant or vice versa where skill is a dominating factor, it means that "talent is 10% of skills" cannot be true for most activities.

Hey AsapSCIENCE, could you put the links to the studies you are referring in the video. I remember you usually do ! Thanks for the videos ! Love watching them :)
I'm not sure I'd use the term 'great genes' here except as a qualifier - great genes *for athletics*. Otherwise there's an implicit value judgment.
great did you guys really know its possible to change luck ? just find and watch this video *"Andrew B Cloverfield"* and see how its done xD
Simple!

Yes vegeta didnt have talent like me but he has enough will power to push his limits

Talented people work hard too, it's not just either or. This is so freakishly true. I train my ass off almost everyday and there are people out there who has naturally big bones and muscle who do not even work out.
then your not training hard enough :P
Your comment is out of the point. The point is there are always people out there that are naturally large even without lifting weights. Besides, I'm not training to look like the Hulk.
MrLangam Lol ok then, but atleast people who work hard to achieve something end up becoming stronger mentally.
Well, it does not matter. Don't compare yourself to other, but try to be higher than your previous state.
I look back and see the same parallels in my own life.

this is almost depressing.

Asish Balu wait which is which? because naruto can be seen as both. he can be the underdog and the winner.
Peter Smith
guess not that many people are dbz fans, its cool a like is a like
I don't think I would call Goku purely gifted.

I wouldn't call it a sport but it sure helps build your mind if you do it in moderation so you don't strain your eyes, build bad posture, ect
For me, Talent vs. Training = Neji Hyuga vs. Rock Lee
yep,pretty much
but neji hyuga also worked hard
Talent without trainning is useless and trainning something you aren't talented at is wasting time.(there are exceptions for the last part).
and the first!
"Hardwork is the way to success"
Villain: "I'll train for a hundred years"
Protagonist: *laughs with the power of friendship*
Hardwork beats talent when talent fails to work hard.
didn't KD (Kevin Durant) say that in thunderstruck?
I saw it on a banner at my uni

This is very true. An art teacher I knew said that anyone can learn to be an artist and be able to draw. Nope, not true. Some people are just born with that talent and a good drawing hand. If that's not your talent, you can't learn to draw just as perfect as someone with that talent
You CAN learn to draw, you'll just never be as GOOD at drawing as someone with talent who also takes the class and puts the same amount of work in. You can still do it.
***** your right, i am naturally good at art but someone who wasn't maybe as good as me still got a higher grade because they work hard and have the right temperament. i usually quit half way through a drawing. whereas they do work hard and so got the higher grade. i'm in year 8
LoL Stacker You're*
But you can. We all started with squiggles. Us artists just kept drawing squiggles until they became lines and shapes. It just takes YEARS nonstop everyday. Going through school you know what was on every side of every homework? Doodles. AKA practice.
SugarVen0m I strongly disagree
It's kind of boring.
exactly how i feel
I feel EXACTLY the same way. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there.... I always feel pretentious saying that "I'm good at everything" but it's true! I am...therefore I was never challenged to work hard. I really feel you.
yea! me too !!
same
its like Rock Lee vs Neji Hyuga. Training vs Talent.
Or Batman Vs Superman.
Jin vs Mugen
John vs. Bill
Lets put this in pokemon terms. Only some people have incredibly good IVS and have high EVS when they are born. Others have to go through EV training.
Pokémon?Are you gay?
slayer butcher
how does sexual orientation have to do with anything here?
slayer butcher With a name like Slayer Butcher, i'm assuming that you are around the age of 10 so i can't disagree that you probably haven't had a great childhood considering you think Pokemon is a joke. Tell you what mate it requires more skill than Call of D00ty. #Quicksckopezfam
To keep it on the topic, you are not born with high EVs, you are born with zero EVs :S
Joaquín Alonso Córdova Linares I know you train your own EVs i just wanted to sound smart :D
(I just want to give some love to normal people, including me)
So Talent always wins.
The talent who trains always wins.
Jason Allcreator
I agree!
Bro imagine training everyday in something your talented...
Both are required to truly succeed. Pure talent is great but you will never be your best without proper training. Both go hand in hand and for those 'less talented', work harder. You may have to do more but don't say you can't do things just because you don't have the talent. Training can make up for what talent you don't have. Always believe.
Best quote
Natural talent makes you better?, you don't say
i deeply hate the concept of talent. the dact that humans are not born equally and cannot get in the same point by working the same amount of time. life is totally unfair
Anyway, that's how I view things
not always the case.
+Daniel Orefuwa If that was the case...I would've discovered my talent already. I suck at nearly everything (video games, academics, time management, exercising, doing work, etc)
+☢ G-Zone ☢ Your grammar's on point.
I am good at some sports and art but bad at numerous subjects.
Siggie Tyrone what's not always the case?
I'm one of those who gets super results from training. I weigh 84kg at 183cm, with little bodyfat and pretty large muscles. People always ask me if I work out, but no, I just play videogames and eat junk food. I do have other shortcomings though. Depression runs in the family on both sides, and I'm slightly colorblind. So, despite great genes, my perception of the world isn't the best. I'd rather be a fat, dumb, ugly, poor, happy man than the man I am today. Maybe one day I will be content. I just gotta find a way to get there.
*****
Yeah, I'm trying to get there.
Rusty Shackleford
Just telling you I'm mostly muscle, bitch.
Maybe you should start working out, you have good genetics, you should make the best.of them, it will also give you something to do
People who say "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" are forgetting that people with a talent for their field are either going to have an easier time working hard than others or have more motivation and incentive to put the work in to make the most use out of their talent. What reason does a talentless individual have to pursue what they want other than it's what they want?
No goku vs vegeta jokes?
But didn't they both train hard ?
+Lava ‘Sam’ Pirate Yeah, but Goku is able to get more results with less training, so that makes Goku more talented than Vegeta.
+☮AMNA☮ Eh. I was thinking Neji and Rock Lee.
Vegeta loves to eat veggies
Batman vs Superman
according to pokemon, you have to be born with the right nature ;)
talent can make up for training, but no matter what you do training will never make up for talent.
Nah, in most cases training can make up for talent.
+Tyler Stokes nothing is impossible, you just have to believe in your capabilities, every moment of doubt will make you forsake youself.
+joseph marta That's just naive. How would evolution even take place if all differences between organisms were superficial? It's all in the genes 90% of the time.
prospectus Essential part of evolution is selection pressure.
It still amazes me as to how people think talent is a myth.
The animations on this channel are amazing
So if u train insanely hard u can be as strong as Goku ??
Aditya Nair Even trash can become super-elite if you work hard enough!
+Aditya Nair well goku had some talent (he was a saiyan) xD
Tora So Krillin maybe xD
***** And he eventually surpassed Goku (if only for a small amount of time).

Imma just go over some comment section stuff rn
"I have no talent :((( boo hoo me It's not fair #crie"
- Here's some life advice: *everyone has their own talents*. A talent can pretty much be anything, not sure athletics, gaming, art, or music. It can be listening, gardening, cooking, memorizing, organizing, etc. etc.
Plus, you might think you don't have a talent for something, but REALLY you're just comparing yourself to other people and saying "well I'm obviously not as good as them so I must have no talent"- but you don't even know how much experience they've had
K... hopefully you get it. Just really ticked off with all these "Boo hoo I have no talent I have to work so much harder than other ppl life is so unfairr"
Like yeah, life is unfair but not in the way you see it.
If life is unfair to everyone doesn't it make it fair?
Brando Colmenares Don't forget that the word 'unfair' comes to different situation. Some ppl might be total talentless but born in a wealthy family, while some may be talented but need to experience tramas.
But I am talentless
But i don't have any talent
OK boomer
To me learning a skill is like a lap in a pool. Talent is that first push off the wall which can propel you a long way, but after that easy glide you have to start your stroke. That stroke is training, and without it you'll sink.
There needs to be research done on training low responders to olympic-level ability. We CAN overcome our genetics.
but everyone does have a pre-determined ceiling. you also can't grow more muscle fibers, and some are just born with more than others.
yes, everyones ceiling may be way higher than they will ever realize, but the fact remains that that level is different for everyone.
QuahogMC
You can train a small, dainty dancer or acrobat to be a massive power lifter, or a short sprinter to be a marathon runner, with enough training.
QuahogMC
It's never been tried before but I think specialized, personalized diet and training can make anyone into anything.
Your brain just takes longer to process which is not your fault.

Good point. It is very hard to do this kind of research of humans because there are way too many variables.
Great point. I'd love to see a study where they (somehow) take this into account. Perhaps using a random sample set where instead of being based on familial relations it's just based on genetic similarity.
Jaqen Genetic similarity is greatest between family members, especially monozygotic twins.
But at the same time, that doesn't make this experiment "flawed" per se; it's just not the whole picture.
true, but at some point genetics come into play, particularly in regards to muscle development, endurance, etc.
Tried it... I'm a low responder, so I'll just eat tacos.
I'm with you Jose.
What an utter soulcrush.
Not really! Hardwork WILL always BEAT talent
Finally, i have a good excuse to skip gym class
Well. Halfway through the video and I feel like shit.
“There's no talent here, this is hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all equal as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that is that. I am not talented, I am obsessed.”
- Conor McGregor
explain 5 year old kids being better at other kids at a certain sport or acadamic
Hard work beats talent --> eventually hard work wins
Talent works hard --> this also means hard work wins
Hard work beats talent anyday
Science has proven otherwise. You can love something, train hard everyday of your life for it, and some people who train less are better then you.
This isn't just for athletics. Can anyone be Bill Gates of they tried hard? No, they can't. Intelligences, physical or mental, are inherent in certain individuals. It's genetics, not choice. Mother Nature doesn't care about choice, it cares about having skills and honing them.
That's just how it is.
too bad he was wrong.
that little chicken shit's obsessed with being a coward. timer stalling an mma fight so your points stay high and running from your opponent should lose you points
Don't be depressed its never to late to pick up an interest in running or athletic activities along with developing your brain and being the smartest and most fit you can be all it takes is a little bit of work

so you are saying he should do it, just because he might be good at it, weather or not he wants to ? Haven't you seen Good Will Hunting ? It doesn't matter what other people expect you to do because of your abilities. In the end it comes down to your decision what to do with you time. And I suggest doing as much as possible of the things that make you happy.

First page grabbed my attention!
Uhhrgg... My genetics are awful ... Too bad guess i just gatta work harder xD!
BeUAndNoOneElse k
+BeUAndNoOneElse Guessing you're fat and ugly?
I have neither talent nor do i train
TheKittenish Yeap. True.
This video is a hypothesis/research question so no it can be wrong.
TimmacTR "Mate", I believe you are the one having difficulty to grasp a very simple concept. I even typed a big explanation for you.
So if an athlete wannabe comes from a family of couch potatoes, they shouldn't bother?
Jeffry Maiato Thanks...but that was actually just a tongue-in-cheek comment. ;)
+ZeoViolet
depends. if they want to go for world records, they better stay on their tv. if they do it for better lifestyle, love of sports, or smaller competitive schenes they will find that training will suffice. also they will give their offsprings better sporting genes
+Giorgos Chatziioannou (LezantasGR34T) Again....my comment was tongue-in-cheek. As in, written humorously.
+Giorgos Chatziioannou (LezantasGR34T) That was actually discouraging
+Andy Griffin no it's sorta true, if your family didnt give u sporting genes....it's not looking too good for you but you can still give your children sporting genes, so they might have a chance!
What is the science behind forgetfulness?
What exactly makes us forget??
ASAPSCIENCE you should do athletes vs intelligence
What if I try and try and try, I work so hard but somehow always just sit behind the naturally talented kids, when they don’t work nearly as hard 🥲😪
Hard work beats talent when talent stops working hard.
So you're saying that NO MATTER how much you train, it's still better to have talent? What about IMPROVING those talent?
basically i think its saying.. some people just have a natural knack (talent) for things that others do not.. this will mean that training and improving in their talent field will be easier for them...
Best said by my boy KD - "Hard work beats talent, where talent fails to work hard."
He never said that...
I thought that he was implying that you need talent in order to succeed.
Don't complain about talent till you have done everything you can to keep up ,everyone has ceiling do you have the right to complain that someone is better ,when you haven't reached yours.
So basically, if you suck you might as well give up now. Seriously, so some people just can't do anything at all? This sounds a lot like eugenics.
An overly emotional response to an interesting video.
You just need to train harder than the ones who are naturally good at it.
If you think of it we all get our 'skills' for more then just our own ancesters.
dragon spirit 2011
uh... dunno about any of dat. You mean epigenetics maybe?
epigenetics
how the environment influences our genes
anon ymous
Could hold some truth, don't think too much of it tho. My grand parents and parents were all meat eaters to a varying degree and I'm vegiterean. Also none of them were very fit and I love running.
Ye, I have no idea about epigenetics xD
Broockle
yea, i couldnt remember the word so i just discribed it in a way that everyone could understand.
#ScienceSays People, again this is a HYPOTHESIS/RESEARCH so it's merely based on observations.Whether a person can do stuff or not DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL ENTIRELY.
Exactly
don't dilute yourself
nope, genetics is tied to what emotions we feel, how persistant we are, we are pre coded, but the cod is mixed so heavily when born it doesent resemble the parents as much as youd think, hence natural selection.
hagala thekid We arent precoded.
I wanna be an actor even though im shy
well first we need to get you on a stage like a youtube channel. It will help you get ready for acting in 2 ways 1 you will get an audience and 2 your going to have only 1 thing in the room that is watching you once you feel good enough with that then go to school for acting classes.
Im pretty sure bieng shy isnt genetic
+George Liakopoulos what else would it be?
The Staer probly just how your interaction with people is when your young
George Liakopoulos Well, maybe that too
ultimately you reach the top if you practice your discipline and have the fortitude to stick it out when things are bad. practice makes perfect. if you're not interested in the sport or activity and all that comes with it, you'll never be on top.
"I was blessed with talent... but I worked as if I had none" - Kobe
My talent is detecting Canadians.
tim72184 I actually think that is cool
Thanks to my parents, I have the best kind of "athletic genes" : Intellectual genes…
Why value physical talents when intellectual talents can easily overcome physical talents?
you're not smart, noone who is smart brags about it.
Boy if ever there was a false dilemma...
My piano teacher has said that talent is only 10% of skills. Rest is work and experience. I personally agree with that statement.
Does she have any facts to back that up?
Gerhardt Weiss
He.
I don't think these artistic/fast learning traits are the same as athletic traits in our genes, so you're teacher is right
Ruth Less
Playing an instrument is still related to muscle memory as well, since you use your hands to press they keys at different tempos, in different kind of order and with different amount of strength and release it in multiple different ways depending on the song.
Training>Talent but Training+Talent>no talent and training. Sadly
You always have that one friend who's good at everything...
BUT BABY I WAS BORN THIS WAY
