Bought land! Gotta make a BBQ Pit! I used wood pieces I kept from the old house and branches I collected for the cat tower I built a few years ago (on my main cooking channel) to make a BBQ pit.

awesome!!
Hello! What did you dip the meat in after grilling it? Could we get a recipe? Even as a note somewhere? Thank you!
@@lonewolfgirl88 Probably soy sauce by the looks of it
The fact that Jun call'ss Rachel's dad "Papa" is so sweet! Goes to show how much they actually care about each other! Relationship goals! 💜
Actually it’s Rachel grandfather. I want to be as active as him when I’m his age.🙂
Ah, my bad 😅 But that's even better 💜
@@JunYoshizuki I called my grandfather papa as well. Love from BC, Canada
I thought he was referring to Rachel's actual grandfather.
What rating did Rachel give the first cook out?
Jun, that sage is not culinary sage. It's ornamental salvia. Yours looks like salvia 'Hot Lips,' which is good for bees, but not cooking. What you're looking for is Salvia officinalis, which is the edible herb.
Thank you for the info! I got it from a flower shop and it looked like it’s not for cooking but the owner said I could use it for food so I tried. It smelled very nice and it wasn’t bad but now that I think maybe he meant something like herb tea. I guess I need to get thyme now. Thanks again for the info. Really appreciated! 🙂
It's kinda important to make sure you have the right species of sage, because there's another - Salvia divinorum, AKA seer's sage - which is hallucinogenic.
Fortunately Salvia officinalis has fairly distinctive leaves. They are a hairy elongated oval roughly 5cm long with rounded ends, and are usually a pale slightly greyish green, although there are cultivars with purple &/or variegated leaves.
Seer's sage has bright green leaves with pointed ends.
@@JunYoshizuki just a thing you might enjoy, consider adding a “bean hole”. Its a New England thing. You dig a hole ( pit) in the ground then fill with hot coals and use it to slow cook beans and ham and potatoes… its real old school bbq. You’d love it
Its also similar to old Hawaiian traditional pig roasts, not the hotel version thats around now.lots of cultures have learned how good food can be when you bury it in coals and rocks overnight
Salvia, I think I see saliva I was like waaat.....
Rachel already trying to adopt a crow. Good job on the BBQ pit and can't wait to see your future projects
Knowing Jun by the next video it will be completely trained and doing fist bumps to get food.
I love the American inspiration of making a pit, but keeping the style of it very Japanese. Looks inviting :D
There is just something about Jun’s videos (and his and Rachel’s channel) that is so emotionally calming and nice to watch because it is just simple and charming in the everyday life of it. I’ve been watching since I was about 14 and now I’m 22, and they are still some of my favourite UA-camrs
Slice of life but irl 😌
I agree! I love watching all of them! We do need a lot more food videos though 😜 JUN…???
r&j videos feel like they hug my soul or smth, they almost make me want to cry sometimes lol ;w;
I get what you mean! They feel like the wholesome friends you hang out with when you want to be productively chill out over hobbies
I just love how Jun and Rachel focus so much on on recycling and up-cycling materials. This looks great and Im looking forward to more videos!
When Jun said, "I love and miss Papa." My freaking heart exploded! I love that you love Rachel's family so much Jun!
The happiness on Jun’s face after taking that first bite was perfect and well deserved.
The next project of Jun's Kitchen can be dorayaki that Haku can eat
More like dora-nyan-ki
@@stephanieok5365 Well played. The like is yours.
Should be easy, just make it sugar free/diabetic friendly. Everything else should be safe for cats.

Awe it was heartwarming to see them genuinely happy in their new home. Since it is a big improvement and progress to have a home of your own, and be able to do all of this stuff. Without a shit ton of restrictions, since it ur house, ur property, ur rules. Im so happy for you guys🧡
Jun, you never fail to impress me. Even though it seems simple to you, so many people think, but never do, the things they envision. You and Rachel have worked hard to earn your dream home. I'm so happy for you.
That bbq pit is gonna look so awesome once the grass grows around it! Have I question tho, because Rachel pointed out the birds will sit on that branch meant for utensils, how would you prevent bird poop apocalypse that'll happen underneath? 🤔
he will probably take the tools inside when not in use
Put some of those anti-bird spikes maybe?
"It'll be cute!" Until they poop all over your BBQ pit XD
I absolutely love this! It's so beautiful but also practical. My only suggestion would be a concern about the way the initial four logs around the outside are sticking out and all pointy on the ends. With the plants there and the possibility of low-light, it would be easy to trip over them and hurt yourself, so I was wondering if you were considering sawing off the ends so that they're even?
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Maybe they will store the grills inside until they need to use it
I love seeing all these projects that you guys do! It's so inspiring and everything always looks so amazing when it's done!
Yessir
Just a suggestion, In argentina when we make a firepit we usually dig out a hole and place a baking pan in the hole to light additional coals. When you are barbecuing bigger prices of meat that require longer cooking times you will need to maintain the fire by adding additional coals to maintain the temperature.
Please test that post to verify if it is footed strongly enough. Posts in an area that gets winter weather need to be dug 3 feet deep. If you hang a stew pot full of water from the post, it needs to be very well footed.
Please test it before lightning the fires.
The one thing I'd be concerned with would be the soil eroding out since it was basically all just shoveled and packed into place. It will probably settle as well. Just really stabilize it, since it's meant for hot coals and foods.
Not to say this isn't beautiful and rustic and such a wonderful use of what you already have! I adore it, either way.
PLEASE make friends with the crows! It would be so wonderful to have lil crow besties lol
You and Rachel should try pottery! I've been doing it for a bit now, and I feel like y'all would like it if you maybe tried a workshop or something. Just a suggestion, love all your videos!
They did in the past I think, try to check out on all their channel
Are you working on the potter's wheel? It's so fun; I miss doing that.
The smell of a bisque fire on a rainy day while you drink your coffee is just *chef's kiss*
This turned out so good! Looking forward to more DIY projects videos, especially a bird feeder one.
I expected Jun to pull out the old american BBQ here, instead he made a BBQ pit in the most japanese way possible. Look great!
haha i love the frogs croaking in the background it sounds so nice being outdoors having a nice barbeque picnic
Might be a good idea to leave food for the crows elsewhere when you cook so they leave you alone and don't try to cause a ruckus to get at your food.
You could befriend them that way perhaps even, and they'll bring you gifts and such!
They seem so much happier lately and I love it!
ツアーが待ち遠しいです🪷
I love how confident you are now, Jun. Your English is great and you seem really at ease explaining your projects for the camera. These videos are really fun to watch.
I absolutely love the new grill area! I had never seen a cylinder like that to get the charcoal briquettes going though! It seems much better than having to go lighter fluid crazy.
I am just SO happy for you two!! Thank you for being awesome humans--rescuing animals, planting native plants, upcycling, beach cleaning, hard-working, an example of a great partnership. You both are inspirations and have helped me live a better life.
Thank you for sharing your progress through the years. It's really beautiful to see people make their own life and learn from their parents or their neighbours or shop owners.
You did a great job! It looks like it'll be real cozy, especially once the greenery starts to creep closer.
Rosemary is such a smart choice to have by the barbecue pit! If the smoke from the barbecue doesn't scare the mosquitoes away completely, the rosemary will help a lot too.
It looks SO nice! I can't wait for the bird feeder as well. Ahh, I'm so happy for you two. This feels like a blessing, being able to do this in your yard.
I really love this DIY projects you guys are making in the new house, can't wait to see the house tour
Fair warning on the rosemary, it can potentially get huge if it likes your soil. My grandma's got to around 6ft tall before she had to tear it out because the snakes also really liked it. Love the BBQ pit, it looks really nice!
What a cozy little spot! I love the planted herbs around the grills. Such a cute and useful detail.
ahh so exciting!!! it's so yay to see you so happy with your house and garden and all the projects u have space to do now!!!
Im so happy u both moved , cats have lots of space , u have nature around u
what a great life 💜🤗💚
Hope you two enjoy it! Very well done.
I'm sure your friends and neighbors will really appreciate having a place to spend time with you over good food and drinks in the fresh air! Good job, and enjoy your pit!
I have been watching so many of your videos daily since I stumbled into your channel ( Rachel & Jun) a few weeks ago …and then searched for Jun’s Kitchen…I don’t know why .. but most videos that kept popping up were six , seven years ago videos….so I thought you guys stopped making videos after deciding to build your own house.
I like your videos very much. Talked a lot about them to my family. Rachel as a person reminds me so much of my daughter ( who is overseas)…she loves cats a lot, too :)
I am very happy to see your latest video…..you both hardly change over the years:) At least now I see your latest vlog:) 👍👍
Jun is so much more confident in front of the camera than he used to be! its really nice to see him working so hard on the things he likes.
Looks great! I can't wait to see more Japanese bbq! I would suggest drilling a small hole in the bottom center of your charcoal pans so that water doesn't collect there and completely rust through. This is a common problem in outdoor grills that aren't covered or don't have adequate drainage. The combination of high heat from a charcoal fire, exposure to open air, and standing water will quickly rust through steel. Other than that, this looks like a great outdoor hangout spot!
This makes me want to have a backyard so back so I can make cool things like this! So happy to see you guys enjoying your new home ❤
Nice work...it looked like hard dirt to shovel. All I could think of was how much the cats would love that as a sandbox...but BBQ is way more fun.
Ravens mate for life and are highly intelligent. As told to me by a native Alaskan, they remember people and how they are treated by them. They will drop pebbles on the head of those that mistreat them. For those that are kind, they leave small treasures, such as shiny items. Enjoy your new friend.
Not only do they remember how individual people treat them, they also learn by observing each other. If you are mean to corvids you may find yourself still being harassed by their children and grandchildren even decades later. Similarly once you have befriended some, it is much easier to maintain that rapport over generations. Ravens can also learn to mimic human speech almost as well as parrots.
@@remuladgryta fascinating information! Thank you for sharing.

So glad you two got a house with a yard. Makin BBQ pits and the trees look really nice too.😎
I think Jun and my husband would get along. My husband loves BBQing. We recently brought a house and he wants to build an outdoor BBQ area. I will send him this video for inspiration :)
Love it!
Hello It looks like you had fun assembling and cooking. Congratulations to Jun for enjoying the results of his hard work.
So cosy!
Be friends with the crows if possible, they have long memories.
So fun! Thanks for sharing
So happy for you, guys!
I'm drooling. That looks so good!

As always Jun's work always amazes
Omg Jun is really picking up Rachel’s regional American accent and I love it
every day i pray to god to have a jun in my life.
Bravo Jun ❤️🔥
Excellent grill set up!
Thanks that’s awesome totally awesome!
Can you do a video on your cats adapting to your new home. It would be nice to see how they like it
So happy for you guys! Cant wait to see your home 🥰
Best video I’ve seen tonight. Thanks Jun!
The yard is looking great! I love this idea.
Always such happy relaxing vibes in your videos.
I love watching all of your little home projects
Way to go Jun, this looks amazing ❤️👍
Good to see you again Jun!
Such a great project! And it's perfect for summer evenings!!
Looks really good! Can’t wait for more videos like this! 🥰
Looks nice outside cooking area, good investment....for safety if people cook on hiking trail etc...
do not put a campfire near trees as underground root fires are a thing for wildfires.
Also like cat perch by cooking area...but think old style of viewing cats cuter....facing you on chairs. Maybe add a ledge to counter.
The idea of "restful" area is not over knives ....🌅
as when you dream you pick up surroundings. ☁⛅🌌🌄 All kind of poetic 🌸🌱. So it is deep kind of unintended connection ....you do not want to give for little animal when it sees napping bed and work area that grabs knives fast, pointing in his direction.
The vibes from your videos are so soothing especially after the rain, I wanted to jump into the video and join you guys at the cozy barbecue
It’s really nice
jun post more please, i love your vids sm
If you’ve bad soil for plants, you might look into the nitrogen of your soil. A lot of houses where I grew up were placed on top of an old peach farm. With some nitrogen and time, the soil got back to almost normal.
I'm so happy for both of you and loving these diy videos.
I'm happy that you get to do things in your yard that you wanted for so long!
If you plan to put lights outside I definitely recommend plastic versus glass. If they shatter you have to continue buying new ones and have to pick up all the glass shards off the ground which is not fun. But I am so happy for you both on you new home wishing all the luck and wonderful memories your way❤️❤️
Looks really nice ☺️
This is so wholesome and makes my heart so happy 🥺🥺😩😭💜
I love seeing you enjoy having a yard now. I can’t wait to see the future projects.
Im super exited for your projects too. I missed yo guys! ♥
It’s fun to have you back posting more frequently 😍👍
I love seeing all these unique fun projects you come up with i hope to see more soon in the near by future!

Looks so great.Jun certainly can design and build so many things.
Thanks for sharing.
Love your idea of BBQ pit.
Love to you both being excited and working towards your dream living space! Looking forward to more vids in the BBQ pit!
The BBQ pit turned out fantastic!!!! That food looked absolutely delicious~♡
Brilliant idea to plant herbs around the pit for easy access to fresh herbs!
I'm so glad you're enjoying the new house! Can't wait to see what project you do next.
Jun’s appreciation for food and different ways of cooking food is honestly the sweetest thing 😄
